  1. Spotting a wave of heroes entering the hall again, Hybros joins those crowding around. He took a spot in between De'kra and the female mage, Cinna the Dark, he had heard her name. He addressed the shade first, the only one even remotely similar to Hybros himself. He was glad the shade had returned in one piece. "De'kra, old friend. It's been a while, a very long time, yes," Hybros said. "You wouldn't believe what I've been through... but what happened on this quest of yours? Whispers of betrayal... by the Shadeaux?" Hybros thought back to his first quest of Heroica, and his encounter with Umbra. He took to disliking the bunch, being somewhat more honarable than other Rogues. Hybros turned to Cinna next, knowing that she had been on the quest as well. He noted her amethyst-mounted staff. She must wield dark magic. "Hello, I don't believe we've been acquainted yet," Hybros introduced himself, his episode in the cells of the Arena receding to the back of his mind. She was human, yes, but she had a gentle yet determined look about her. "From where do you come from?" The imp wondered if, she wielding darkness, came from darkness itself, like Hybros had.
  2. On all this talk about items, specifically artifacts, and their effects: Would it be plausible to ask anyone that receives these special items to put their effects in their sig? It would help QMs and other players a lot if they knew the effects of said items. Or, as CMPOD mentioned, a gallery of artifacts... I'd be willing to help with that if you need it, CMP.
  3. Watching Quest #4 from the sidelines, I have to congratulate you on a job well done, Doc. While it was pretty long, in retrospect the amount of loot, experience, and character and story building were worth it. You did an excellent job in planning it all out, and the MOCs and pics were fantastic. I really enjoyed following the thread. I look forward to another one of your quests, Doc. Though, maybe it could be a wee bit shorter? I can imagine it would be pretty difficult to commit to something like that for such a long time.
  4. Imooootep... Imoooootep... Imooootep. Looking forward to it. Not sure I'll be able to play, depending on the time during which it's played, but I'll follow along nonetheless.
  5. :O I was just about to call the one year mark when I see you've been active again! Please come back Svelte, we miss you!

  6. Haven't really been following the news thread on this, but this isn't a bad little theme at all. Certainly not above the standard of other recent action themes, but the minifigures in particular are great. I'm constantly impressed at the quickly improving quality of minifigs in general, and this theme is no exception. I suppose I could complain about the "<insert that tiresome argument>" (is that word even relevant anymore?) raptors, but they look no worse than any other Lego creature. At least, the prints are nice. Also, am I mistaken that the minifig with the white shirt has a new hair piece? Or is it CW Obi's in black? The minifigure reminds me of this guy during his role in Inception.
  7. Hybros had been practicing with his throwing weapons all afternoon. He had gotten better, but admittedly needed a little extra something to help him hit his mark. Visiting Portia's once again, he purchased two more Smelling Salts at the cost of 40 gold. The imp left the marketplace, confident that his strategy would help him win. He now held 81 gold.
  8. Ah, okay thanks Sandy. So one turn, in this instance, means one instance of action. If Player A threw the bone at the monster, then Player B and Player C both rolled damage, only C would actually take damage? But if they miss, technically they would have thrown the weapon. Hybros had to retrieve his shuriken twice after missing in Quest 7, which I would assume is correct?
  9. A few questions pertaining to game mechanics: This might have a fairly obvious answer, but I don't think it's ever happened in the game yet, so... How is a bone used? Does it prevent any free hits, damage, and special damage from one enemy for one turn? Does the user get it back after the battle? Also, if a user of a throwing weapon is hit with damage or special damage, do they have to retrieve the weapon afterwards? I would assume not, because they never would have thrown the weapon, right? Can meads, nostrums, and smelling salts be used at the same time? So if I used all three, I could attack twice in one turn, and have lucky and encouraged effects for both attacks? When "lucky", wouldn't the "better roll" be subjective? For example, a Cleric might want a Hit instead of a Miracle. Or in Jeb's quest, where the party may want special damage (heals Haldor) instead of a Hit. Would the host decide these things?
  10. I'd be willing to take that cultist hat off of your hands, as well.
  11. Seeing a new quest being posted on the board, Hybros walked over and signed up for Quest #16: The Paladin Conquest. A skirmish sounded like something he never experienced before, but he was prepared for anything. After all, his ancestors had been warriors, and defended their own lands for centuries. To prepare, Hybros left the Hall and went into the woods, to practice his throwing weapons skills.
  12. Okay, thanks so much.
  13. Wait, could explain this a bit more? how would having a hastened effect give the enemy a free hit? Or cause the whole party to KO. (Also, Jeb, what does "aoe" mean? ) The new batch looks excellent by the way. The Sage minifigs look awesome. Nice ones, Sandy.
  14. With more heroes pooling into the Hall, Hybros sought a quieter realm within the Library. Before entering, Hybros examined his two newly acquired weapons, Zoot's Reaper and the Shuriken of Mercutio. He had heard these names before, and knew that his weapons were named after deities of the land. Perhaps he could find more information on them in the books. Upon stepping inside, Hybros nodded to the metasamian librarian, and took a few books on deities off the shelves. He preferred to test his literary skills rather than converse. During his time on the surface, he had picked up many tongues, including that of men. Sitting down at a table, Hybros began flipping through the volumes. He eventually came across an entry on Mercutio. "Worshipped by merchants... thieves..." he muttered to himself. He wasn't a merchant, and the only time he stole was when it meant his own survival. Strange, people always took him, a Rogue, for a thief. The Moon... Hybros always liked the moon. The way it glowed... of course nothing of such beauty could be seen down below. "Must not be in his favor, either..." thought Hybros. He had never been even moderately wealthy until recently. He had always kept a minimal amount of gold on himself and had lived on the land. Hybros slid the shuriken out of his boot, looking at it with interest. It was sharp enough, yes, but did it have any relation to the deity himself? Hybros wondered for a moment, then returned to the text. The Monkey Man? Hybros glanced at Byblos, and then thought of Thothwick, grinning to himself. Hybros turned his attention to and entry on Zoot. His description was uncanny, to say the least. A god of the void, of the nothing... and yet, not a god at all. How strange, and frightening. Hybros recalled his encounters with Lady Wren, and how she hinted at the coming of Zoot. He gripped his scythe. It felt natural to him, as if it had been crafted just for his exact size and strength. Yet, he did feel an odd presence to it. He wondered if Zoot could actually see him... Choosing to put these dark thoughts out of his mind, Hybros returned the books to their shelves and hurried out of the library, longing for the warmth and joyfulness of the Hall once more.
  15. I didn't initially sign up because of the role-playing (not very good at it, see) and my complete lack of knowledge of Batman. I've seen the original film, the Nolan films, and a few episodes of various cartoons. I'll also be somewhat busier until the holidays. I suppose you could put me on the reserves if needed. So good luck with this game, players and hosts. I'll watch from the sidelines.
  16. Sorry, I could never do that entry of mine. I've just been busy with a lot of things lately, and Lego has been the least of my worries. Next time I'll actually build something before signing up.
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. I've been thinking about this, actually, and I agree that quests should stop handing out so many goodies. As cool as they are to have, I think too much could potentially upset the balance of the game, eventually. After the very end of the quest, I actually thought that what we received, with the two Zoot's Play Things, the cookies, the gold, the extra level, and the weapons, was a really nice reward. On another note, I forgot to mention that I really liked the concept of hero vs. hero, Zepher. It was definitely something new and creative in Heroica RPG.
  19. Yes, I'm quite sure. I feel that you after all has been said and done, you gave up a lot on that quest too, so you deserve this.
  20. Hybros walks to the marketplace, starting with 211 gold. Before he does any shopping, he posts a bulletin: To anyone who would like to build a Skeleton Decoy,I am selling a bone for 5 gold. The imp then travels to Anwyl's. I would like to exchange this Shuriken for a Throwing Knife of the same power. Anwyl agrees, then switches the two weapons for no charge. Hybros also sells his Mockthril Longsword (WP: 4) for 20 gold. Now with 231 gold, Hybros finishes at Portia's Potion Shack, eyeing the new items. He purchases 3 Nostrums, 3 Meads, and 1 Smelling Salts for a total of 110 gold. The imp departs, with a heavy inventory and a lighter coin pouch containing 121 gold.
  21. Hybros feels the effect of the cookie. His health raises by one. Hybros accepts the gifts, carefully receiving the black goo. It instantly latches on to Hybros' arm, and takes the form of a scythe (Zoot's Reaper (WP: 10) ). At the same time, Hybros feels a dark presence in the weapon... And here, since I won't be needing this, you might as well sell it, Thothwick. Hybros hands the Fleuret (WP: 5) to Thothwick, turning to go downstairs to the quest board. Seeing the new quests posted, Hybros felt ready for another adventure. He signed his name under Quests #13: The Darkstar and #15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger.
  22. Woah, 25 enemies... that battle won't be easy with all of the free hits. Plus, they're undead humanoids, so no element does extra damage. Those on Quest 8 are in for a treat.
  23. Oh, I missed that somehow. Sorry. And yes, Lady Wren... put a face to Hybros' grudge.
  24. Hybros drank his water and listened carefully. Ahah, so you weren't trapped the whole time after all. Good to hear that you saved those other heroes that were with us, and even that cleric. He did heal us after all, heheh. Hybros remembers the vision that he had once more. In the war, there were those with arrows, much like Docken. But here the human was, suggesting this, and also offering his Phoenix Essence to Eric. Perhaps these surface folk weren't so bad after all. Perhaps they had changed. Hybros pushed these thoughts to the back of his mind. Eheh, well, I appreciate the suggestion Docken. I'll leave it up to Jess, but I was going to suggest you as well. Hybros looked down at the table, not sure what else to say. He could use a more powerful weapon, but then again, Lady Wren had said something about Zoot and watching the bearer of the goo... Hybros nods appreciatively. Heh, thank you Cronk. I suppose there's no danger here, I'll eat one of the cookies.
  25. Hybros follows, mentally energized but physically exhausted. He reflects on his vision in the cell for a moment, then signals for a glass of spring water from the barkeeper. Well, Cronk, that was quite the adventure, heheh. Good to see you again, what did happen back there when you were in the cell? We got your message but... we weren't sure of your condition.
