  1. Maybe the rumored set "Council of elrond" is actually the white council from the hobbit instead of the council that created the fellowship? It would definitely make more sense including galadriel gandalf saruman and elrond rather than legolas, gimili, elrond, frodo, gandalf, boromir, or anyone else that was present at the formation of the fellowship. All of the figs that could be included for the scene from LOTR have already been released atleast once and some more than once. Compared to the hobbit council where the only re-release would be gandalf and elrond (and having two elronds is never a problem though lol)
  2. Helms deep is 10.5 inches to the tower with the horn on it. I have the other ones but unfortunately i was waiting until christmas to put them all together (kind of a tradition) so i cant get the measurements off those. I wouldnt think that any of the other sets you mentioned would be taller than 13 inches but im not sure how tall the tree in warg attack actually is. I made my shelves adjustable so i can shift my themes around between my room and basement. Its funny you made this post though because i was just clearing out some space on my shelves in my room so that i could make room for the new hobbit sets when i get to put them together. Ive studied the sets online so much and the boxes that i feel like i have already built them a hundred times lol Its sort of an obcession and now i cant wait for any news from the 2013 sets. LOTR and The Hobbit has been my favorite licensed them so far and i cant wait to get into some more iconic sets from the story.
  3. I agree i dont see lego ever building a 3 troll set. Although it is a very cool part of the movie, there wouldnt be a cool lego building aspect to the molded trolls and the only point of buying the set would be the trolls.Although it would be awesome, i just dont see them doing it. Could we see radagast's hut as a potential set? it could be a cool set that coverts well to lego although its really not a huge part of the movie so its probably stretching it. after seeing the first glimpse of Erebor, how do you think TLG is going to tackle it? There has to be a set with smaug in it although i bet similiarly to Azog this set wont be released until he is officially revealed after the 2nd movie. Do we know who is playing Bard? He's one of my favorite characters from the books and i d definitely like to get a bard minifig. I guess he could be released in a "battle of 5 armies" set or city of dale or laketown set. '
  4. Im really not too disappointed with this first wave of sets. I would have definitely preferred a big set for the wave like a helms deep but after seeing the film there aren't too many places that could've been turned into that big set. Rivendell is absolutely stunning in the movie which makes me think that any attempt to recreate it will be disappointing to a ton of people (not me). I think the best way to do it will be to break it into buildings similar to hogwarts 4842. The city is built too much into the surrounding landscape ( mountains, cliffs, waterfalls, trees, ponds and streams) for TLG to attempt a spot on imitation. Although erebor is absolutely stunning in the movie, I think they will leave any sets from that or dale until after the second movie. Did anyone think it was strange that radagast is the wizard that explores dol guldar in the movie but the set is released with gandalf in dol guldar? I guess this will be a scene from the next movie. I really don't see any other sets that could have been released in place of the already released sets. Like someone already said the trolls is to unrealistic. I wish they would've released Azog in warg attack but completely understand why they haven't. But I am really happy with the white warg. I also think that TLG knew barrel escape and the attack from Mirkwood spiders sets weren't in the first movie. On the boxes it has a rectangle reddish/orange sticker that says "hobbit trilogy preview" and from what I can tell those are the only two boxes that have the sticker.
  5. Does everyone think elrond will be released again in future sets? Or since he was the promo fig. For the video game will this be the only time we see him? Spoiled don't read if you haven't seen the movie don't understand why yazneg is on the white warg either. Azog should have been with that set. What are some of the other minifigs everyone is looking forward to? Im starting to doubt the eagles nest set also after seeing the movie, not saying they wont add eagles to a different set though.
  6. Erebor- wow just amazing. The worst part of the movie is knowing I have to wait another 2 years to see the end. Very excited for more sets from these movies even though the sets already out span further than the first movie
  7. That is the first time I have seen that MOC of minas tirith and I have to say that's pretty sweet. I would buy this set in a heartbeat. Im actually in a theater right now waiting to see the hobbit and had to look at the pictures on my phone but im still impressed. Im excited to look at the pics on a computer rather than my phone but I still have my doubts on whether lego would release a set like this. It just seems bigger than what I think legos attempt will be. Regardless I wish that someone would get actual proof on what these upcoming spring/summer sets of 2013 will be.
  8. There's actual a pretty cool video that is the opening sequence of the tv show the game of thrones but the cities rise in legos. Its pretty cool
  9. I think lotr could do alot with a ucs series or "middle earth architecture" series. Personally i plan on buying every hobbit/lotr set thats released. There are many structures and cities that will be hard to make at a minifig playable scale. Think of sites like minas morgul, minas tirith, the kings of old statues (argonath I think), lothrien, rivendell, bared dur and the eye, what is the name of the city that gandalf finds thrain in prior to the hobbit dol guidar(though iv been told it will be included in the first movie), and even osgiliath and im sure im missing some. All these are amazing structures in the movies and it'd be a shame not to see them at all.
  10. If orthanc is released as a ucs set, then I don't think it will be released for a few years until lotr and hobbit have a few successful waves a set releases. Does anyone know how long it took for star wars to begin releasing ucs sets? Which other themes have ucs? I really doubt orthanc is released as a ucs series though. Its more likely to be released as a 3-4 story tower similar to the one in the lego room with gandalf saruman merry pippin an ent and a few orcs. This is not me thinking as a "fanboy" its me thinking realistically of what would make sense.I would love to see an expensive ucs orthanc, I just don't see it happening, atleast anytime soon anyway.
  11. Westeros is definitely a great source of lego MOC material. If I had any creative talent whatsoever I would love to attempt something like winterfell harrnhal or the iron islands. Unfortunately The reasons I love the story of fire and ice books and game of thrones tv show are probably the same reasons lego would never adopt the theme officially. Hopefully someone much more talented than me will attempt some architecture from this world, im excited to see them. Great MOC and hopefully the beginning of more to come.
  12. I disagree with you on minas tirith. Although it could be very disappointing to some, I think they will attempt a set similar to helms deep. Maybe using something like the video game version as a guide (from the bonus level) only on a bigger scale. Circular walled base with a gate on it and a 4-5 story tower in the middle maybe in more of an oval shape with a white tree on top. The battle pack (like the eomer set with helms deep) would include Grond with orcs and gondorian soldiers most likely. Im not sure who they would include as a named minifig in that set. Which 4 sets did the dutch toy store announce? Pirate ship, eagles nest and I thought there were 2 more but I don't remember them. Then brickset is saying the pirate ship, black gate and what?
  13. Is this moc based on middle earth mirkwood? Its very impressive I wish I had a creative mind like you and some of the other MOC builders on this site. My only suggestion if its bases of lotr is to make the stream black.
  14. Well its not really a problem. He appears in the 'real version' of the movie and is in the video game during story mode and as a usable character in free mode and bonus levels. Now I know the video game doesn't prove he's going to become a munificent but it proves he is a part of TLG's contract. Yea I think your right. after rereading the rumor post I realized I didn't see the "and 3 I could not discern"part and I withdraw my excitement for this set. It will still be nice to see gandalf the white, mouth of sauron, and hopefully an aragorn with gondor armor/anduril though. Im guessing the other two will be orc soldiers or something. Or they could leave out aragorn, since he will most likely be in the corsair ship set, and include merry/pippin in armor. On second thought considering the centerpoint of this scene is his first speech as king I doubt they would leave him out.
  15. I could see the corsair ship having aragorn, gimili, legolas king if the dead and then two dead soldiers and the a few corsairs plus the guy with two heads (he's an orc i believe with a second head on top of his) plus two of his soldiers (orcs I believe) but that still seems like alot of minifigs for the set. Im hoping that its one or two starring character fig rather than nameless soldiers but im not sure who else would be included. Im really excited for the black gate. I wonder if they will include any large monsters. In the movie they have the two trolls who open the gate and also the battle troll (not sure what they are called) that fights aragorn in the final battle of the movie. I would be happier with the second but either one would be awesome. Gandalf the white, aragorn in gondorian armor with anduril, eomer, merry and pippin in rohan/gondor armor, mouth of sauron, and mordor orcs all could be included. They could even include ringwraiths on nazgul or eagles but im sure this is highly unlikely due to the other rumored sets being released.
  16. Does anyone think there's the possibility of a boern minifig? With him being a skin changer they can give an alternate bear head (like remus lupin/werewolf on harry potter or add a bear to the set.
  17. Cammo , what other instances were people speculating that structures off video games would become sets? Im not saying your right or wrong im just wondering because I was trying to do a little investigating into past threads and couldn't find anything similar. Now im sure these aren't brick by brick the exact sets that are going to be released but I bet they end up being pretty similar. I would like to look into other video game releases and see if its ever happened before but most of the other lego video games ive played don't seem to compare to the structures in that bonus level. Plus, I don't understand why lego would have the same objects/sttuctures portrayed differently in their digital and hard copy forms. For example why would they brand the video game corsair ship as the "lego version" then release a completely different model for hard copy collections and call it the corsair ship? I don't know, that's just me brainstorming and really wanting to see the 2013 sets.
  18. I was thinking the same thing about the pirate ship set maybe being related the corsair ship on middle earth explore mode. I took some pictures but they didnt turn out very well. I could see this being released with something from osgiliath or an osgiliath set being released at the same time. Here are the pictures but they didnt turn out very good. On another note i was watching a video of the making of the lego LOTR game and an employee of TLG said was explaining how everything used in the video game that is portrayed as being made of lego, is first built with the real thing. This doesnt mean that any of them will become sets but im sure its a good cornerstone to make the sets off of. 19. Alright here are the pictures i promised. Obviously some of the sets have already been released (helms deep, weathertop, and mines of moria). I included the pictures of these sets to compare with the sets that arent actually official yet. The pictures included what i believe to be a lothlorien tree house, rivendell (the scene where the fellowship is formed), isengard (orthanc), the statues of the ' kings of old' from the end of the the Fellowship of the ring movie, edoras and minis tirith (with the ram used to batter in the gate in the battle of pellenor fields, i cant think of its name) . There is also a mordor area with the tower of sauron (with the eye) and the black gate but i forgot to take a picture of it. 20. I disagree that the structures are too small considering the weathertop, helms deep, and mines of Moria are built to scale from the actual first wave of lotr sets. If I remember correctly the sauron and mouth of sauron figs are a little bigger than the normal figs in the game. Now im sure the structures in this level aren't built "exactly" the same as the sets could be but they do show how these sets could be made. I would be completely happy with a minis tirith and other structures (orthanc rivendell ) that are built like the one in this level. I have pictures of each of the buildings so ill post them up when I get a chance today.
  21. Has anyone played the bonus level "middle earth" on the lego lord of the rings video game? The bonus level is found either deep in rivendell or lothlorien, im not sure where I was. During the level you play as sauron (with his badass mace) and mouth of sauron and get to go crazy destroying all of middle earth. Every structure is brick built and the structures from the first wave of the lotr (weathertop, mines of Moria, helms deep) are built the exact same way they are built in the sets. In this level there is also a brick built orthanc, minis tirith, rivendell and a couple structures from mordor . Since the structures in this level from the first wave are built the same as the real released sets ( weathertop, helms deep, mines of moria) , does that mean that the buildings in this level could spell out what future sets will look like? The minis tirith is actually pretty cool looking. Has this ever happened with previous lego video games like harry potter star wars or potc?
  22. Hello, I have been remodeling my basement and have come up with a plan to build a display case or shelves for my lego sets. I have come up with a few ideas already but i wanted to start a thread on here to see if anyone had display shelves or cases at home that they could post. Seeing other peoples might give me some good ideas on how to do mine. I plan on putting my harry potter sets, Lord of the rings and soon to be hobbit sets on display on the shelves. I havent decided whether or not to build special sections for displaying the minifigs or if i should leave them with the sets. Any other tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you .
  23. i dont think it would happen but an original battle on mt doom set would be very cool. It would have a mt doom with an entrance in a side to get to the center where elrond tries to get islidur to throw in the ring. Were the black gates around at this time? if so, those could be another part. The minifigures could be lord elrond, islidur, sauron, orcs, elves, men, maybe islidur's father. I know its not really in the same "time" as the Lord of the Rings story but it is a major part of the story.
  24. moop your a douche bag. no one asked you to read it. go f$%^ yourself
  25. i would be very upset if i bought a set and didnt have all the stickers lol. I actually got extremely lucky getting this set. I bought a bulk lot of new legos on ebay and about half the peices were there so i bricklinked the rest and built it. The only thing that was somewhat expensive was the minifigures. I think the worst part of getting huge lots like that is that its hard to tell the greys apart. I dunno if i have bad vision or what but i have to keep one of each light greys/bleys and dark greys/bleys next to me so i can compare the peices to figure out which color it is. I just started collecting legos again around december ( I collected them when i was younger but stopped for awhile). The first theme i wanted to collect was harry potter and after putting this castle together i have all the castles. I d like to get my hands on the goblet of fire sets (horntail, graveyard duel, the merpeople set and then the shrieking shack, siruius blacks escape and pivet drive. I think i ll be a happy man once i find all those set. ( Im also really excited to put together the new diagon alley set. I ordered it the other day so it should be in one day this week hopefully. Im not sure what ill do after i track down the sets i want. Im sure its quite a bit of time away and quite a bit of money away also lol. Anybody have any ideas of good themes to collect next?
