I signed up for the Black Friday sales' emails and rec'd a listing - here are the Lego sales that jumped out at me... As of Fri, the 28th: K-Mart is having Buy 2, Get 1 Free on all sets. Target does indeed have the Imperial Destroyer for sale this year - $59.99. KBToys pulled their ad... Wal-Mart didn't have anything listed yet...
-
I wish we could buy it for X-Mas...
-
I think they're fine. I certainly don't have them in front of me yet to determine the feel and stability of them, but I never liked the 3 stud length. You gotta use your hands...
-
Technic parts could make for a really, really cool RC, (especially with the Power Miner Day-Glo parts coming shortly...) but I can't imagine much else.
-
Yeah - the only person I know who actually bought Lego at the Times Square store was from the UK. He only did so because it was considered "half-off" by himself. WM is usually only a bit more cheap, but the ones around me never seem to have the amount that any TRU would... I prefer to support the Lego Store. Sure, I only make it once every few months, but between the PAB wall (where there is always something new), the sheer amount of stock, the exclusives and the stampy card, its well worth it IMO.

Just 2 days ago, I snagged a severely beat-up HP+OotP Castle for $11.82. Turns out the box had been opened (only thing missing was the small bag with Hermione's head, etc...) previously. Still a great deal as far as I was concerned!

I'd worry about possible mold growth and/ or damage especially in the spring and summer months. As far as the cold is concerned, I'd think that bricks would have to super-cooled (Liquid Nitrogen) to become brittle enough to break (unless its a thin antenna and someone purposefully tries to snap it...). I bet they'd be fine as long as they stay dry, out of any sun, and (perhaps) away from any animals looking to nest out of the cold.

As far as getting the set early - it happens. Thanks for the waaaaay early heads-up and review. I'm kinda surprised that the bags weren't numbered... I was def gonna buy this set and you've just reaffirmed my desire!!

No - I'm not. Pure Awesome!

Lego collectors with children in the house
Dadster replied to Barbaros's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As I sit here, my middle and youngest are working on their own MOC. A house and garden from Spongebob pieces. The oldest also likes to build, but only sometimes... They have their own stockpile. I may let them get into mine at some point, but mine are sorted and when not in use, I like to keep it that way. Christmas is coming though, so we're prob ( ) all gonna get some new pieces! -
I saw that Pirates logo, but it had a bunch of hearts around it, so I dismissed it... I finally uploaded the pics. Most are not good, but I'm no expert with a camera... LINK

Yeah - I thought of a way. I'll have to take pics with my dig camera and then host them on BS...

...there are a slew of Rock Monster sneak peeks. They're everywhere! Popping out of the rocks of the Bionicle page, rising through the street of the Transport Ferry advertisement, lifting the man-hole cover behind the Agents Command Truck, peeking out of the bushes on the Technic jeep page. The whole back page is an advertisement for them. Looks like the mouths open and crystals can fit inside. More weirdness in the mag is shown in a contest - build a Castle ship. The picture shows a Troll Warship attacking the Dwarves Mine, but there are some "off" bits. The Dwarven shields are still round, but they show a large double bladed axe with a tiny crown where the blades meet instead of the winged helmet we see currently. There is a (what looks like a) "horn" near where the Dwarven King sits. And in front of the Dwarven King, there are 3 1x2 bricks with runes showing on them... On the (small) Lego Racers advert page, there appears to be a black dragon with dark brown highlights. Are these goofs? Bad lighting? Old pics? I'm thinking the shields are preliminary ideas, but the color scheme on the dragon is decent, IMO, so here's hopin'! I know, I know - no pics or scans. Sorry.

I always thought those round shields were cool. And they also came in the trans red for spacemen!

A sharpie marker and an Indy hat?
Dadster replied to samthelegoman1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Probably...I'm gonna try blood for a red one. -
Congrats!

I don't know... With the popularity of Bats, maybe Spidey would do well. Bring back some simple sets. (Spidey-Buggy type...) I think a Lego: Spidey would be (and do) fantastic!! Here's hoping!
-
Awesome!! Even 10% will be nice (IMO) as it offsets the tax.
-
I was in the local Target today and the nice stock-ladies were unloading some Lego! The Republic Fighter Tank, The Agents (Mission 7) Submarine, the Bionicle Jetrax T6 (with variant colors!?), and the Coast Guard Platform all for $49.99.
-
Bah!! I guess next year this time, we'll (I'll...) have to hope for a sneak peak set release for X-Mas '09.

Holiday 2008 Catalogue
Dadster replied to Marcus Aurelius Antoninus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Pleasantly surprised to see mine show in the mail today as well...what to get, what to get... -
When was the Dwarves Mine Exclusive out @ Target? I seem to remember that set being out around the end of the year last year...
-
Yeah - the dollar is strong right now, housing is stable, and jobs plentiful. *wakes from a dream...* I have never really gone out on Black Friday, cause there really are some folks who get a little too pushy for me, but I think the OP may be on to something. Wal-Mart is especially famous for these sales...
-
Wow - that is gorgeous!! Love that sea-monster!

Cool! Luv the white tux!
