I checked out the BF site and price has gone down for AFOL's by $10. for next year!! For kids 3-10(?) it went up by $2.00... Next year its August 22 and 23rd? No 3rd day? That seems goofy, because I thought they originally said it would be Aug 18-20.

Quote for the truth. Seeing some Preliminary Pics is one thing - seeing the boxes in high-res or in-store is another... Also - I'd like to see the "monsters" more closely. Will they be molded like the RR monster? Or built up? I imagine they'd have to be (at least mostly) molded. Hopefully, they be awesome and I'll be able to snag some for forest/ dungeon encounters! Anyone else catch the numbers (at least that's what they look like to me...) on a few of the sets? I def saw "4" and "6". I also like the red (hopefully, it's not neon-orange...) chassis for a motorbike.

I keep thinking that the Batmobile looks like its gonna have the Jack Stone vehicle "look" to it.

Can you offer anything specific? I think the hotel was nice, but suggestions would def help for next year considering they're holding it at the same venue. IMO, they need to have the tickets table (for the public) closer to the entrance and situate the main hall a bit better. Maybe get some cheap roping for the lines suggesting folks which way to head. 'Course, the folks with the strollers might not appreciate that too much, but I know some folks weren't sure where anything was. I think it was more about some parents not keeping track of their kids than just saying "crowd control was awful." The only complaint I heard was "I can't believe I can't use my credit card to buy something..." Yes, credit transactions can elicit higher purchases (according to some of the retailers), but c'mon. If that's the biggest complaint from the public and given the fact that all those folks volunteered their time, I think they did okay. Oh yeah - I almost forgot - there was the one lady who built her son a huge tower full of tan bricks, then got pissed when she found out that "free-build" didn't also mean "free bricks"...

Y'know - I've heard rumors of folks selling items *coughdrugscough* under the false front of a completely different item. Folks who might know where to go and what to look for after being directed by a friend... But who knows? It probably was legit - just a lot of money for those sets...

Yeah - I kinda thought about posting a recap somewhere else...Gen Disc? News? I was impressed that both Sat and Sun had the turn out they did. I really thought Sun would see much less people in attendance.

I'm gonna at least wait until I check them up close. They may not be exacting copies of minifigs, but they're supposed to be fun and geared towards kids who (typically) could care less. (Aimed at no one in particular...)If you don't like it, don't buy it/ try to acquire it. Yes, you're entitled to your opinion, but my goodness - let it go. They're Happy Meal toys. Just my 2 cents...

Hey - I just got back in tune with my 'puter after the long weekend. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet in person (I remember the ship, but don't recall a face...), but I agree. This past weekend was really fun. A bit overwhelming with the public stuffed into there at times, but def worth it. I met lots of cool folks and I already plan to go next year, spend more $$$, and meet more folks! I just uploaded a bunch of misc pics here--->BrickFair'08 pics! Hope you folks who see them enjoy... They start out with Fri arrival and end with Sun morn with QC presentation (one of the best parts by far). I forgot to take a pic of my Angler Fish that won me the Agents truck... Some of the pics include the Brick Chick's Car (she just had the paint job done a few weeks prior...), The original Police Station (my first "big" set from my youth, the Monks were really cool as they were moved via magnets, etc. I'm still tired and I can't think what to type...

Thanks for the news. I'll have to see the Miners before making any decisions because right now - from the small blurb we got - it sounds like a redo of Rock Raiders. Not really my cup of tea. It'll probably get some interest though - what's it been, about 10 years? Bring on the Elves!! (if we're really getting them...)

Yeah - if they are sold out again (as far as Lego S@H is concerned...) its because the folks who couldn't or didn't snag one the first time are finally getting it. I see them all over the place as well...

Anyone see a potential date? They've got the SW ones out right now, but there are about 20 of those things... I'm thinking 20 weeks (or even 10 if they double up) is way too long.

C'Mon! Let's think positive!! With the Lego Game coming out in a short 2 weeks and still with some hangover from the movie, they might be real minifigs w/ different weapons. Think of the keychains - they're not that expensive.

Is it just me or does that pirate sword look like its got the speckled silver/ black paint job?
