Love the playability of the transformation of its various fitting.

Another outstanding piece of work, Jared! The entire layout is just mind blowing. You don't need to see the actual building images to find out where you are based on those designs.

Of course, it is worth to acquire them especially if you are a Sci-Fi space fan and also able to get these Galaxy Squad sets at a huge discount. I have been seeing some of the sets are clearing at a good discount and there are some sets which are equally impressive. Do get the smallest set or just rack up the polybags. Mid-sized sets like the CLS-89, Star Slicer, etc are some good choices. Otherwise, if you are able to get the Galactic Titan, then that is really awesome. sweetsha, I agree with you that the Galaxy Squad theme will be perfect if it come with an actual base.

That is a nice dynamic scene. It appears the Red Team and the Buggoids are equally in trouble. Love the red mecha robots which you have done. Thank you for sharing.

Amazingly massive awesome steampunk submarine that is ready to be submerged. It's great that you have some spare time to share this fine creation with us. -
Outstanding piece of creation. Legonardo, you have certainly outdone yourself. The entire structure look so amazingly detailed with the cornering uneven smoothing.

I just managed to locate the source of images photos for the event coverage which can be found via this link Credits to CastleDefender (LUGSING) and (Bugs & Collectables).

Finally got a chance to watch the video by Jamie, and this is just so awesome! So much stories to tell. Geez, that is very wonderful as it does help to tell many neighbourhood tales. Way to go.

Dear all, Although I know this is not something new or doing an original MOC for this, but I really want to highlight this special real friend of mine for doing the MOC for me. I wasn't really expecting it at all. I am very thankful to him for taking his time to gather these bricks to re-construct this Batmobile SDCC 2014 giveaway. I am really very touched by this early Christmas gift as I have not expected it and I really did want to get it somehow or somewhere in the future. This wonderful sleek design is placed well and safe among my collection. Minifigures are not included and since I didn't have the 'correct' ones. I thought these dynamic duo of this era is equally fitting. I just want to share this with all of you out there even though it is just a normal reverse engineering of the SDCC 2014 Batmobile which I believe many others could have attempted. The very sleek looking retro Batmobile with Batman and Robin in their classic outfit The completed built of the SDCC 2014 Batmobile Side view of the SDCC 2014 Batmobile Which is nicer?

REVIEW: 71008 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Many thanks to you all for taking your time to compose your thoughts and comments in this review. It is very important to hear what you guys feel towards the new Series 13, reviewing content, distribution ratio and the exclusive interview too. All of which, so far are generally major positive sentiments with plentiful of excitement. I am equally elated as well and it is truly great to know how you guys think about it! If I have missed out any of your heart-burning questions, please feel free to leave it here and I will address the questions to my best knowledge. It should not be the main focus to get it coated in purple. Well, it is not quite possible for them to answer this question and I can't provide an actual answer but merely able to provide my own opinion. Generally they do plan within three months framework and they have more or less conceptualise the designs for the future series way before including licensed. Traditionally, back-printing is never made as a standard feature to be included in the design of the minifigures. It is a bonus feature to increase the detail of the minifigure's design. Glad to hear that! Same sentiments as well, especially on the design process. Thank you dr_spock. You are definitely right. I think it is more of an epee than a rapier. Yes, plus the Unicorn Girl's tail. Nope, they don't have back-printing. No promise, but I will see what I can do to provide this image to my best possible means. It is a long tedious process indeed but it is definitely worth it. Yes, AmperZand. I will certainly convey your thanks on behalf of our EB Community to the LEGO CMFs Design Team. They truly rocks and I pray and hope that this LEGO CMFs theme will never end. Real cool and I am truly amazed by your profession as well. Glad to know that you have found a fitting minifigure to represent you to the best. As mentioned earlier in the comments, the Unicorn's tail, Sheriff's moustache and the Classic King's beard. These are rubber pieces. You might want to check at your local toy stores other than LEGO Brand Stores, to see if they can allow to sell you a sealed box over the counter. It truly amazed me that the magical touch of the LEGO CMFs is the continuous improvement of adding new designs into the theme array. That is just amazing to see how it have expanded to form a sub-theme based on purely LEGO CMFs design. I agreed with you on the usefulness of the Carpenter. Point taken and noted. You have somehow convince me as well but past experience has proven that such minfigures designs are not as popular as the rest. That is a nice way of seeing a new usage for the shield. I don't disagree with what you felt on the Hot Dog Guy. But the high possibility of moulding that part could be much higher and will have to reduce the production cost for the minifigure to ensure it is within, especially when the Hot Dog Suit is brand new element.- 104 replies

REVIEW: 71008 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
An exclusive interview with the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Team with WhiteFang and Belun Dear Eurobricks Community, I am very honoured to feature a very special and exclusive official interview with the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Design Team. It is truly incredible to have this special feature being prepared and all of the awesome communication and back-end work with TLG to make this interview possible! I hope you will find the interview to be insightful and interesting. Without further ado, let the interview feature begin. 1) We are pleased to have you here with us and able to grant us an awesome exclusive interview with the Eurobricks Community. Could you be able to share how big is the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Design Team and who do they consist of? The LEGO Minifigures design team consists of 3-4 element sculptors and one full-time devoted graphic designer. I, Tara, serve as the Creative Lead, which means I dole out the tasks and make sure everything ends up looking great. 2) For the past four years since its inception, what are your thoughts on the LEGO Collectable Minifigures? The blind purchase concept for was new to us when we started the LEGO Minifigures project, so we were delighted with the reception by consumers, and we’re so happy that we have been able to continue with it for some time. This has always been a “passion project” for us LEGO designers, because we love our minifigures so much, and this project allows us to make iconic characters that we might not otherwise be able to. I’m continually surprised at how much novelty and fun and personality we can bring to these little guys and gals with just a few accessories and decorations. 3) How long does it take to finish the design process of a new series? It takes about 3 months for the design team to develop and perfect all of the graphics and elements required to complete a full LEGO Minifigures series. But of course it takes a lot more than a team of designers to produce these figures and get them to stores near you – when I first started at the LEGO Group I was amazed at how many steps there were to the process, and how many teams and people involved, from marketing and manufacturing to storing and shipping and selling, but somehow it all comes together in the end! 4) Could you be able to share with us of the general design process of the minifigures? First we have to figure out what the lineup of characters is going to be, which is a process inspired by many and overseen by me and Matthew Ashton, Vice President of Design. Once we have chosen 16 figures that we believe offer a good mix for everyone, we prepare design briefs for the designers. These briefs can be anything from a rough sketch to something very specific and elaborate with historical references. Then the designers get started, and we have weekly check-in meetings where they show their progress and we can all comment and critique to make sure the final results are as perfect as can be. We also have other parties involved – mechanical engineers who consult on the molding process, internal reviewers who make sure any new elements work within the whole LEGO system, product safety specialists who verify that our characters and elements are well within the safety codes, graphic design “coaches” who ensure that we are making the best decorations we can while adhering to standards, a legal team who checks that we aren’t violating any copyrights, and textile designers who develop any skirts or capes or other textile elements we need. As you can see, it’s quite involved! Then come several rounds of approvals, where the engineers start creating the new molds and decorations, and we have to verify that all of the characters and accessories are looking and behaving as we want them to. We work with our copywriters to come up with the character names and bios, and we brief our packaging designers on the bag and box design. Finally we get sample boxes to open, check that the packaging looks great and that all of the characters and elements look and feel and operate correctly. It’s always an exciting day when we see the first boxes come off the production line! 5) For this particular LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13, since, like the previous series, it has to do with the MMORPG (massively multi-player online role-playing game), is the design process any different? We did consult with FunCom, the developers of LEGO Minifigures Online, to make sure that we had some good characters that they could use in the different levels of the game. 6) What sort of criteria must it fulfill in order to introduce a new part or element into a proposed series? First and foremost, any new element must look great, and be recognizable for what it is. It must also adhere to a number of standards – design standards, safety standards, legal standards, and LEGO System standards so that it works in all the ways anyone might expect it to work with other LEGO elements. 7) What are some of your favourite LEGO Collectable Minifigures throughout the entire LEGO Collectable Minifigures theme? For personal reasons, I love the Artist from Series 4, because he was designed to look like my husband. I also love the Bagpiper, who was inspired by my grandfather who grew up in Scotland (although the bagpipe element was by far the hardest element I’ve ever had to design!) I love the Sailor from Series 4 as well, because he is so simple and iconic. I really love the Yeti too – again, because he is so simple, just a few colors, but he just has so much character. From Series 13, I love the Snake Charmer, the Paleontologist, and the Egyptian Warrior. 8) Where do you find your inspirations for the LEGO Collectable Minifigures designs? Years ago, when we started the project, we had a big “boost” (brainstorming session) with a number of LEGO designers in which we came up with a list of hundreds of characters. We are still using ideas from that list today! On top of that, we get inspired by trends and events that are taking place around the world, and we also look at the entire LEGO portfolio for the coming year and make sure we fill in all the gaps with characters that will not be offered anywhere else. With around 200 designers working in our product development teams, there is always someone rushing to us with a new suggestion. There seems to be no end of minifigure character ideas! 9) How is the LEGO Collectable Minifigures distribution being determined? If you mean, how do we choose which ones are 3, 4 or 5 to a box, it’s a little complicated. We try to guess which figures will be popular with kids, so we can put more of those in the box to satisfy as many children as possible. Another factor is cost, as the production price varies from figure to figure depending on decoration or elements. 10) Any last words to share with our Eurobricks Community? I can’t tell you how fun and exciting it is to “see” (read) your enthusiasm about the Minifigures line. We put a lot of work into these little minifigs, and a lot of thought into the details, so it’s nice to know that our hard work is appreciated (or at least noticed!) by such a supportive and passionate community. Thank you!! I hope you have enjoyed this very much and please leave your thoughts and comments in this discussion as well. It will be great to know on how you felt about this. WhiteFang- 104 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 poll
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well, the poll is intended to choose the best out of your many best! So, it was purposely designed to identify the most favourite minifigures among the lots of 16. It is no easy task to choose though. Even myself, I was struggling with Egyptian Warrior, Goblin, Galaxy Trooper and Samurai. Oh well, I felt the Egyptian Warrior, being the historic warrior of the mighty ancient Egyptian Empire and he is my best choice out of the 16. On the other hand, the, Classic King Unicorn Girl and Hot Dog Man is equally splendid as well.- 24 replies
