Temple of the Black Treasure
WhiteFang replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Interesting concept! It gives me a mixture of oriential feeling and egyptian touch as well. I am surprised that both elements blended in well. This is a very nice and simple moc which demostrate the creativity of LEGO. Is there a black treasure box ever released before? I don't remembered seeing it at all. -
Review: 7979 Castle Advent Calendar (First Look)
WhiteFang replied to brickbitz's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Everyone of you seemed so eager to build the advent calender. I can't wait to see it, landing in local shops next month. Can't wait for the Jester and the Maiden. I am sure they are awesome. 2.5 months is still a long way to go, especially if you know the advent content, which I believed you do. -
I am wondering whom is the one voted for "Poor". Could the person justify why you voted for poor without explaining or justify why? This is such an amazing Classic Town set. How could anyone rate this set as poor! Grevious, glad you loved this review. You have highlighted the great points on this set. Mind if I ask why you have a grudge against police sets? I am very curious. Yes, the Pirates was an inspiration to add in since I think it will be nice to match it in. I had never seen that set before! Wow, it looks exact the same as mine. The only difference is, yours is a civillan while mine is a police boat. Why don't you join the Reviewers Academy to improve on the photography? I will love to see you re-do that review! You are very fortunate to own this set as it's released back in the 1980s, which is older than you. Brickster, thanks for your kind comments. It's enjoyable to read your thoughts towards any Classic Town set. For sure, you have done well by highlighting the boat's main features. Glad you loved the Pirates and Sharks. We need to be inspired to try to add on something innovative. The rum from the Pirates' stash, is an awesome idea. Thanks Erdbeereis. I certainly wished that TLG could produce such boats again. In fact, this is my favourite patrol vessel in Classic Town. I went to check what is 4002 Riptide Racer. It turns out to be pretty slick and cool. Such old floating boats certainly brings back lots of childhood memories. I do hope you are able to collect all of them.

The Baritones Discussion Thread
WhiteFang replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I am back from the dead. No longer the usual Grim. It seemed I had looked much handsome. Of course, I will help the good citizens to rid off the Baritones... Let's keep the game within the thread, once Hinckley gets Day 3 up tomorrow or so. -

This is a very nice creation. I love your construction of your desert, and the watch tower. The road ahead looks treacherous for the travellers. Your vehicles in this moc, looks nice too. Thanks for sharing with us. Little creatures on your desert such as snakes or catcus will make the desert looks much better.

Very interesting building technique of your waterfall by using flags to do so. It's is done in a creative manner. The landscape formation of the waterfall and the green field certainly illustrates a peaceful moment for the Samurai whom is on the trip, praying for a safe journey. I assume so, since he is carrying a backpack along with his katana. The only thing which could be improved, and agreed with Sir Dillion, by adding the water ripples at the base of the fall will create a much better effect. Overall, I enjoy viewing this moc. Perhaps, I will like to experiment this technique of yours too. Ninja and Samurai mocs are always great.

The Baritones Discussion Thread
WhiteFang replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks guys! I am looking forward to have great fun in this game! I love my new name, "Sky"! I was like laughing out loud, when Hinckley types "Bad Lego12" -
JopieK, well done! I am impressed with this review of yours. This set is hard to get by, especially for a person like me whom still have perception of buying stuff online. I love this set very much and will defintely hope to get it somehow, one day. The helicopter and the raft indeed have a classic look which Brickster has mentioned. By the way, your pictures are great and clear. I like it, especially with some nice focal touch such as the right side of the chopper which feature a mailbox. You have done a great review, once again.

Hello all Eurobricks members and Town Lovers, Today, I will be doing up a review on Police Boat. This is my first childhood police patrol boat which is my favourite among all the police vessels ever released by TLG. This is the kind of vessel which patrols the high seas in Classic Town ensuring that the water shores are safe from smugglers, pirates and any possible dangers. Once again, there is another missing part which had been replaced by another type. Can you find it? Furthermore, in this set, there is a red air-tank and a black thick chin guard missing from this review. It can be used for one of the police officer, to change himself to the scuba diving suit. These missing parts will eventually be found and restored into the set. Please pardon me for the incomplete set. Name: Police Boat Theme: LEGO System / Town / Floating Boats Year: 1987 Pieces: 81 Minifigs: 2 Price: USD$15.50 An image of a 4010, Police Boat Commence Operation Sea Rat With this police boat in place, it's used to deter potential dangers that might pose to the country's coast. This lovely police boat has black and white primary color combination that is used in all police vehicle types. In fact, this is one of the better looking police boat which is used by the Police Coast Guard. The police boat's design is quite similar to the ones which we had seen in reality. It managed to use less than 100 pieces to construct a medium sized boat vessel that looks really impressive. I love it very much. Meet the Police Officers that is patrolling the national water Every police boat will be attached with 2 police officers on board. As you can see that their uniforms varied from one another. The police officer on the left, wears an uniform with buttons. When I was a child, I always thought that this officer is like an inspector. While the officer on the right. wears an uniform with zippers. This officer will be reflected as a Sergeant or Corporal to ensure ground operations are in order. This classic police torsos are my favourite among all of the police torsos ever released. I like the simple black and white look on their uniform with simple details printed on it such as their police badge worn on their left chest. As you may have noticed, the Inspector is carrying a torch which differ from the orignal set. It was actually misplaced over the years. Therefore, I am using the other torch version which I had created for temporarily replacement. Hope everyone won't mind this small little mistake. Overview of the Police Boat As you may have noticed that the black boat hull is the main feature piece that shape up the entire set. In fact, this boat hull is well-designed. This boat hull is very uncommon and is only available in two sets. The other one is the 4012 Wave Cops. At the top of the ship, the boat mast was used as radio antenna for transmission. The transparent blue panels on its front and side adds on a little bright touch to the entire boat. The siren is placed on the top of its windscreen. There are 2 big torchlight placed at the front. It is used to spot lurking dangers or potential pirates hiding at the rocks formation especially in the dark. Different views of the Police Boat Let's take a look at the interior of the cabin At the front of the steering wheel, there should be a blue seat for the police officer to be seated instead of standing while navigating the boat. I placed the blue seat at the bottom of the boat. Beside it, there is an arm or hook to place the red air tank which allow the officer to change to diving attire. At the rear, there is a long bar for the officers to place their equipments such as torchlight, tools and etc. It can be lifted This is one of the impressive playing feature included in the police boat. The top of the boat could be lifted upwards to place more police officers at the bottom cabin for them to rest or store their equipment. Taking a clearer look of the cabin after taking it out Taking the blue panel apart, it will reveal the black boat weight at the bottom which is maintaining the weight of the boat. The next picture will show you a quick glimpse of its weight. Black Boat weight Sharing their sea experience Incident 1: Close encounter with Jaws! The inspector is having an up close and personal with the hungry eating sharks. Geez, how could he be still smiling? Incident 2: Shipwreck survivors Look, the inspector has spotted a band of shipwreck survivors. Are you sure they are genuine survivors? Look for clues from behind. Geez, look at their friendly smiles! How come ImperialShadows is back to his pirate life? Will the Inspector fall for their tricks? You decide the outcome! See you next time To summarise, this is one of the better looking police boats which make use of slimpicity, yet realistic design. It comes with 2 policemen on board. Some of you might find it too simple and may not present the true power of this police boat. However, I felt that this simple design is the key factor. Please tell me how you feel about this set. I am sure, not many members will like this set as much as others. Summary review Playability: 9.5/10 (Which LEGO Town does not need a police boat to patrol national waters?) Design: 9/10 (I love this design very much. A little improvement will be better such as storage cabinet at the bottom. It is a little empty) Price: 8.5/10 (This set is a little expensive. Maybe, it is due to black boat hull.) Overall: 9/10 (One of the most outstanding classic Police Boat.) I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? Hope everyone of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Critics are strongly welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Brickshelf (When moderated)

I believe you are referring to this set.

This is a very impressive army of yours. Are you ready for inter-galaxy conquest? I am not sure what other Republic sets you are short of, as I am not very familar with all Star Wars Clone War sets era. From the look of it, it seemed you have got every one of them.
-
Dr.S, thanks for answering my questions promptly. I can't wait to see this set landing into our local retail shops.
-
Totally amazing and speechless! Awesome set! I believe this is one of the greatest giant set ever released in the entire Star Wars line. It's look so amazing, by just looking at your close up pictures. Not only it looks impressive, it looks fun to play with as well. In addition, there are several unique minifigs which are exclusive in this set. I must admit that for all Star Wars LEGO fan out there, this is a set you must not ever miss. Mutley, I will like to ask a few thing. Can the garbage masher be closed up? How can the screen change from Alderaan to Yavin? Is the Vaders' TIE able to fit in one minfig? Thanks for doing up this review.

ISC, your mocs are getting much and much better. I love the high walls of that castle, with its rock formation on the side. The river is very nice. With that innovative ski of yours, it sure adds some joy in this creation. Looking at the main wooden gate. I believe the gates is meant to stay still? While the interior of the castle, it offers some playability as well. The pulley mechanism, jail, orcish wizard and the rest of it, have very interesting concepts and features. Great job!

Matn, for your first attempt, your review is very good. I owned this set as well, but was never fond of building it. It does not really appeal to me, in terms of design. The wall is not able to stand on its own. The battle wheel looks a little wierd but offer great fun to play with. Come to think of it, I am very curious of how it functions. Thanks for showing the building process, especially the construction of its wheels. Nice review.

Perfect set! I enjoyed playing my dwarves' mine very much. In fact, this is my favourite castle set in 2008. I bought multiple sets for its dwarves, troll, orcs, mine cart, tracks, ores, and etc. It offer high playability from digging the ores to transporting down to the blacksmith. Great set!

Thanks guys. I need to hunt for some Hagrid and Han Solo then, in local shops. Hope they carry the figs, but I think I will pay a hefty sum for it.
-
Do you know where Hinckley's fig head come from? Is it customised? I am intending to build his sigfig as well.

Sandy, I grew up with the old dragon days, where the design of such black and green dragon is used above. I will like to clear up my thoughts as of why I felt that way earlier. Dragons has come a long way, and have been actively used since the days of Dragon Masters in the early 1990s. Till now, there are many different designs such as the Vikings Dragons and the current Castle theme dragons, even including Duplo dragons. The green and black dragon was the orignal creation of how Dragons are created by LEGO, the first unique flying dragon design, which is small and handy. Some people might actually not like the small scale dragon when it's compared with the rider/minifig. I agreed with you on the point/problem of TLG introducing new elements and replaced the old elements of which we adore and love. As for the new castle theme dragon, I bear no huge grudges against it. In fact, I owned four of that dragons. The reason why I don't like is its main construction design which makes me favour more over this one, due to the fact that I have pre-bias of retaining the old school thoughts of dragon design. At the same time, this dragon resembles more of a Duplo theme, more than System sets. The plus factor of having that dragon, is the realistic size of how should a dragon looks like. I don't want you to take my opnion as a rude comment or insisting who is right and wrong. There is no ends to it, just a matter of preference. It's pretty interesting to know your views and know the other side of the arguement. As it always said, there is always 2 sides to a coin.

3053 Emperor's Stronghold: A Ninja Review
WhiteFang replied to voltio's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yes, I am glad that this review is resurface once again. This is one of the sets that I really hope to own. It's too expensive to buy a MISB set, plus shipping and I have too many LEGO sets on my buying list. How can I afford to buy sets which is a decade back? However, I must admit that looking at reviews is one good alternative to admire it. Actually, one of our members had created this topic few months ago, on that subject. Link -
I never knew this set was re-released before in 2001. In fact, I looked at Brickset, under the Legend category. I can't seemed to find this set tagged under the Legend. To be honest, I had not seen this Octan Gas Station before. On a serious approach, how can I ever miss such lovely Gas station before? I must be blind during that period, obsessed with SHELL. The red car and the tow truck are just so lovely and nicely designed. Miss these doors, 4 studs design, 4 studs windscreen, and etc. There are so many reasons to justify the beauty of such classic vehicles. The Octan Station itself, is an impressive design with car wash, 24 hours mini mart, petrol kiosk, red rooftop with window frames. I find this is a very good set to play with. Love these old Gas stations, but I love the 80s Gas Station even more. Great review, once again Brickster!

Thanks everyone for their kind words. I am so glad that you have enjoyed reading this review of mine. KimT, thanks for adding it to the index. In the first place, I never knew that this theme was under Knights Kingdoms. Instead, I always thought it was a power struggle between King Leo and Cedric. I thought it was something like Lion Knights Kingdom or what. I may have mixed up from its earlier theme since both shields has the lion emblem. I agreed with you and K.D on this. I prefer this design strongly over the <insert that tiresome argument> new dragons that is appearing in the current castle theme. One of my helmet has wear off. It does not rust. The paint will come off after a period of time, if you come into contact with it. K.D, I feel that the minifig is more suited than using a witch and magician. How many magical wizards will you need in a kingdom? To emphasis on the point that this set is meant for building Dragon Riders, similar to Eragon for example. Maybe, the way it present itself looks a little less attractive. However, the soldier has to fufill the role of the rider. The big halberd is meant to charge against its enemines or defend itself in the skies with its long range weapon.
