My first impression was the the first floor is too dark using just black bricks, but after seeing the interiors, it actually goes well together. Sort of dark and misterious, as you never know what you'll find in the antiques store. The dark green Emerald slopes are a nice touch, and the interior is amazing with many details. Well, socks should be kept off the floor. As a whole, it's a great corner modular building and is really well done.

I really like seeing MODed versions of Market Street. I did myself one in mostly tan, but it followed the original more closely than your does. In this respect, I could call yours a MOC, based on MS. I like how you changed some details to make it more unique such as the half spiral stairs, and the positioning of the interior stairs, so you were able to put (nicely designed) furniture inside. It's really nicely done.

This is an amazing building! The architectural style is very special, and the subtle changes in colours really add much style to the building. I like how you utilized the wide windows, and made the arches above the second row of windows. And the interiors is just as amazing as the building itself. First of all, the idea to recycle bricks is great. All the machines used in the recycling process are nicely done, and you even get various recycled bricks. My only wish would be to recycle other colours as well (in other recycle plants).

That's a great interior! I like the colour scheme, and the waitress looks in great stress over the spilled drink. Luckily, there are no customers around to see her. The booths look fantastic in bright pink, that's a great colour to choose. Also, the 'spilled drink' piece is a nice addtion. Really well done!

To me, the most interesting are two ideas: 1. making a corner building on 16x32 plate and 2. the use of darkbluish gray containers for detailing the facade. I was playing around with the first idea for a while, but then left it, as I didn't like the way it would be attached to other buildings. So I have a question, how did you manage the attachment to other modulars. I see no problem with the 32 wide side, but what about the 16 wide side of the building? Can it be attached, and how does that fit in the back with GE? As for the second, the use of containers is a great idea to add some more detailing. I first saw it here by Yvonne Doyle, and I liked it so much I incorporated it my current modular (under construction). As far as your townhouse goes, I would try to reposition the stairs or even make them steeper or L-shaped or spiral, to get extra space, and then just play around with small pieces to create some furniture. Because of the large windows, one can see inside very nicely and it would be lovely to see more interiors. I guess I have one of those peeping eyes.

That's an nice MOC. I mostly like how you created a slightly rased pavement, it's how they are in real life. Also, the recycling lot area is interesting with some graffitti and a 'dump' area behind the broken wall.

This is a sweet house! You captured it very nicely, too bad for colour change, but it's hard to get the right pieces in the right colours. All in all, it looks great with the nice box, and is instantly recognizable. Well done!

Corner Shop & Apartments - Modular Building
Redhead1982 replied to brickcitydepot's topic in LEGO Town
This is an amazing building. The original house itself looks very complicated to rebuild in LEGO, but you caught its spirit perfectly. On the outside, the roof section is my favourite with large windows, whereas interiors in all three floors is stunning. The jewelery section has amazing glass stands for the colourful diamonds. Both apartments in the second floor look great. It's amazing how well you managed to squize everything in! The Murphy bad looks really sweet. -
This is an amazing MOC, I'm looking forward seeing how the build goes. There's so many interesting details inside, my favourite being the cakes (as I have a big 'sweet' tooth).

I am a big house fan. I love the modulars, and mostly that's what I try to MOC. I also like the Creator line very much. In my opinion, their houses are much nicer in comparison to standard City with open backs. However, I strongly feel that there are never too many houses in the city, so more are welcome. As to decide, what I prefer, I am more in the way of modular and Creator houses, but I agree completely on the fact that at least modulars are way out in the price range for many people. In this way, I'm not sure what to go for. In this respect, my vote goes for more civilian and smaller houses, as these can always be MODed into something bigger with a back side (the way I prefer them), even though in general I prefer Creator houses and modulars.

I have to admit, the paramedic on the motorcycle looks so much better than a police officer on his motorcycle (even though both drive the same brand motorcycles ). Somehow I find your MOC more realistic, I think it's the equipment that makes it better. And the sticker on the front of the motorcycle is a nice touch.

Thanks for your answer, dede_la_fee. About legality/ilegality of your ladder, I'm not an expert on that either, hence my question. Regardless of the technique, the stairs look great and fit well in the crowded interiors. It's a smart solution with a great look. Good luck in the competion.

That's a sweet MOC, Oky. My favourite is definitively the red cup above the stand. The gingerbread house is missing some colourfull candies, I wonder who ate them?

This MOC is one of my favourite ones! The colours go amazingly well together, the tan and red stripes, and the use of 'brick' brick adds the final touch. I can see you used pieces from CMs and Friends, and incorporated them into WV setting. Also the inside of the Mercantile is perfectly crowded with goods. Really well done! A bit off topic question: your building technique for the ladder, is that a legal one? I remember using it when I was younger, but now I'm not so comfortable to use it now.

2012 LEGO CREATOR Rumours and Discussion
Redhead1982 replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Same here. Seems like all roofs are red, whereas some colouring would be lovely. Apple tree house was special because of the dark blue roof, and the Beach house had it in black. There are so many nice roof colours as dark red, redish brown, dark tan etc. that don't get used in Creator sets. -
Mariann Asanuma, thanks for the review. I've seen the set in an on-line store, and as I recently bought the previous pink bucket (5560), I was considering getting this one, too. It's definitely a good way to get some more unique colours, and the torso is just beautiful. Somehow, I didn't notice it before, and it looks very special. Since I plan on getting some Friends, when they're available, this set looks as a nice complement to get more of the new colours.

This is an amazing build! The white is perfect for such massive building, and then there are so many little details on the facade to really stand out. I like how you gave it a feel of interesting texture by using different bricks. And the darkblue roof with SW helmets looks wonderful. Anyway, I like it how you combined some details from CC and GE into this GC, it looks amazing and I can't wait to see some of the interiors once it's finished.

My favourite is the Green Grocer, as it was my first and is special in every way - the great colour scheme, simply beautiful interiors, and the bay window architectural design. The Cafe Corner is very close as my second favourite, and for the rest it's hard to rate them. I'd say Market Street is definitely the least favourite (although still great), and then PS and GE and FB are somewhere in the middle. And lastly, the Town Hall I can't rate as I haven't built it (yet).

Agreeing that large pictures would be lovely, the house looks nice anyways. I wonder if it was made only from FB pieces, or you added extras? It's nicely done. Shortly after building your first modular, you get hooked, so watch out!
-
Well, I like both types. The old ones are classic, but they're available in limited colours, while the CMF ones are more detailed and bring a bit more diversity to the bunch.
-
My opinion is similar to others: this is a very lovely house with beautiful details. I like the fact that it's cornered with a bay window. And the truck next to it looks amazing too. Overall, the colour scheme fits very well with the rest of WV sets, so it's a great addition. Really well done and good luck with the competition!

In my opinion, the standard smileys are perfect for modular buildings. I was growing up in the time, when these smileys were already out, but I owned only some homemaker figures and proto-minifigures. These simple smileys remind me of the most classic LEGO time, and hence I feel they're perfect contrast to more advanced buildings. Besides, I don't like the majority of the 'modern' faces so I often substitute them for these .

That's a great idea. The colours are simple and nice, yet they do give the Christmas feeling. I like how you showed different steps of brick production. My favourite detail is the snow blower. He comes very hand with all the snow in WV. Well done.

That's a nice car. I'm not a car specialist, so my question might be stupid - is this some kind of special model for left-hand drivers (such as UK, or Australia)? The position of the steering wheel is what caught my eye. I admit I'm no expert... In respect to the model, green and white combination looks great, and the seats in lightbluish gray look stylish. Great work!
