Ah, I was thinking it was a generic nightclub, and that the person was a musician. You learn something every day! In or on, either one is correct. Yes, or you could simply remove the "when"; "When you're at the top of the Ferris wheel, you feel like you are ill." "I want to tell you what life is like here." The second correction is more natural. Although, he may be referring to the movie It's a Wonderful Life, I'm not sure if it's set in Dover. If it is and that was the student's intention, then the proper expression of that would be, "It's a Wonderful Life is set in Dover." A quick Google search cleared this up for me. It's OK, but "close" would be more natural than "near". Either way is correct. The original is more archaic/poetic; it's something I would have my character say in the Heroica RPG, whereas if I myself were to express this sentiment, I'd say "I miss you so much!" Might be a good chance to get him hooked on the Heroica RPG. Either correction would work, but the second is more natural. Just "London"; "My sister has a big apartment in London."

"Yes, it is odd to be so limited in wealth. Back home, my family always had more than enough money, mostly because we could make almost anything we needed, and Father could Quest through the other Planes for the rest. Most of the time we loaned money to others; being in need of gold is a strange sensation for me, to say the least."

I have to say, I REALLY hope you can come on Quest 31 if Arthur gets picked, the roleplaying alone would be epic. Actually, Arthur really ought to give Atramor a journal, but I can't quite justify it in-character, since he's pretty much determined to drag him on a Quest with him. Maybe if Atramor approaches Arthur about it. Oh, and for the record, I do have a mental note of how many journals he has left, it is limited. I'm being vague just in case a roleplaying opportunity too good to pass up comes along. EDIT: Ontario. Mega. Finance. Group. I think I just realized something earth-shattering about Arthur. Sandy, is magical ability a genetic trait, like in Harry Potter? Or is it totally random? For the rest of you: while roleplaying your character, has your character ever surprised you? That is, have you ever discovered something about them that even you didn't know before that moment?

Arthur retires to a quiet corner of the Hall, and sets to work on the blank books Byblos had given him. He frowned. After muttering a few choice invectives about the quality of paper in Eubric, he emerges with a scarce few more of the precious journals. He considers his choices carefully; it will be some time before he can gather the requisite spell components to make more, and De'kra's words from earlier resonate in his mind. "Well, one thing's for sure," he says, and seeks out the Hunter, Skrall. "Skrall, my friend, I'd like you to have this. Your insight is wise, your heart pure, and your words filled with a truth beyond just honesty. Your wisdom and advice would be much appreciated; this journal will allow us to share our thoughts with each other, though the distances be great. I hope that you are selected to Quest with me, but if we are not, I hope we can keep in touch this way." Arthur notices Alexis sitting at the bar. He scrawls a note on some parchment--"Just in case, for you and Althior, from Arthur"--and slides it and a pair of the journals down to her. Hopefully she and his master would not be separated again, but if they were, the pain would, hopefully, be somewhat lessened. He looked down into his pack, and contemplated who the final few journals should be given to.

But hey, bonus points for originality, right? Oh, Doc, you won't mind if I come up with ways to short-circuit all your battles, right?

Will they do this in-store? If so, I'll grab $20-40 worth of LSW and still be able to afford Collectible Series 8 and some Superheroes without blowing my Ninjago budget for the year. Also, what leads DO we have about what will be on sale from the 4th-5th?

Community Build: SW Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Flipz replied to Oky's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, I'll have to think of something that exists only in Episode II, but I'm confident I'll be able to come up with something. Sign me up! I will say in advance that it will NOT be someone's lightsaber. After seeing one person's epic LEGO lightsaber collection on CUUSOO, I've decided to try something different instead. -
Cough Syrup--Glee Cast version Man, it hasn't even been a week since the last Glee episode and I'm already jonesing so hard for more...how did I ever survive the hiatus?!?

For the sake of roleplaying, I hope that Dyric does not go on the same Quest I do when Arthur encounters Wren. He'd end up trying to kill Arthur on sight every time they met in the Hall. I've said this before, but I'll say it again: there are too many awesome characters in Heroica that I want to Quest with! Skrall, Cronk, Atramor...among many others! Let's hope that a few of my top picks get on Quest 31 with Arthur.

Arthur frowns. "Can she not be brought to see the error of her ways? The elders of my land were priests of Zoot, before they forsook the old ways. Do they, too, deserve death?" It took Arthur a moment to realize the flaw in his argument. "Then again, they were the ones responsible for my...departure...on second thought, feel free to apply that sentiment to them." Arthur takes it. It feels surprisingly cold, but he thinks nothing of it. "Arthur. Arthur Justus Regulus the Seventh, Mage of Heroica. Nice to meet you. I take it you have some personal experience with followers of Zoot, then?" "I admire your faith, sir Cronk, even though I do not share it. Granted, Chaos itself, I feel, must be vastly misunderstood, for what reason is there for rational beings to suffer such fear of anything? But decay seems to be the nature of our world. Our purpose is to create, to make new friendships and bring some small measure of joy to our own corner of the world. It is not for us to change the universe, just our part of it. The grand scheme of things I leave to the priests and clerics, and those who dedicate their life solely to pondering such mysteries." He pauses a moment. "I suppose both our views accomplish the same purpose, simply from different methods of approach." He chuckles. "A Knight and a Mage may both strike a bandit. Either way, the wrongdoer is dead." "Perhaps, then, the key lies not in stopping Chaos, but in guiding its flow. In my homeland, there exists an ancient temple, ruined, abandoned, once dedicated to the worship of Zoot. It is built in the heart of an active volcano, one that has erupted even within my lifetime. Do you know how it still stands? The builders created channels, outlets from the volcano, that guide the flow of magma to the mountain's peack and the lava from its peak to the ground, avoiding the temple and its myriad catacombs entirely. The cooled lava, when gathered and ground, produces the richest fertilizer in our land, and our crops are envied among our neighbors. Though forsaking their worship, the priests of Zoot retained their knowledge, and created an empty moat along the edge of our village, the side facing the river, so that when it floods the water drains into the moat and, from their, through a series of tunnels beneath the town, feeding all of our wells. A volcanic eruption, a catastrophic flood--both are embodiments of chaos, and both, when brought into control, give life to my people. Perhaps this is the way to deal with this Lady Wren as well."
-
"Chaos..." There it was again. "For two years, as I traveled from my land, I heard naught of Chaos. I thought it a concept known only to my people, from the Era of Darkness before my family rose to its strength. But since coming to Heroica, I have heard it spoken of many times, and entire Quests have been devoted to its end. What is this force? All teachings of it were forbidden to my friends and I when we were young. Why? Why does it hold such sway over the hearts and fears of men?"

I'm loving Barty and Boomingham, really great usage of the character.

"Well, they are officially allied with the Hinckwells, though I have attempted to disabuse them of the notion that the Hinckwells are any less corrupt than they consider the Shadeaux to be. I think I may have gotten through to their lead Engineer, Count Knyghton, but..." he scowls at the Quest board. "...apparently not to the rest of them." He sighs. "Eubric would be a much better place if the Lion Knights were a House of their own; they are noble, loyal, and honest to a fault. Although, from what I gather, the Hinckwells, the Shadeaux, and all the other Houses, save perhaps the Wolfgang, began that way as well, and their own power corrupted them." Arthur contemplated in silence for a moment. Seeing other Heroes draw near, he posed a general question to them all. "My fellow Heroes, what do you think Eubric would be like if all of the Houses lost their power?"

Why not do a minifig set, like those 5-minifigs-in-a-box they did a few runs of a while back, and the CMF Series 3 VIP 'figs they're releasing this summer? The way I see it, Avatar: The Last Airbender is the sort of thing more ideally suited to MOCs than to official LEGO sets, there's just a grandness to everything that didn't get translated well last time around. At the same time, official 'figs would be really, really nice to have available, and it wouldn't be as expensive as another entire wave. This way, TLG would be satisfying the niche without necessarily starting up an entire wave or making one big overpriced set that would be difficult to budget for. Just my $0.02. I really enjoyed Avatar: The Last Airbender at least what I was able to catch in reruns), I just don't think it would have as big of a market as some other shows.

"Ah, I had forgotten about that. It's strange that the House most similar to me is the enemy of the House that respects me. Perhaps in the future we can Quest together to reconcile the two." Arthur attempts to appear jovial, but fails to completely hide his distress. This means his friend De'kra cannot participate in the Quest, either. "Ah, well, at least Atramor might be able to Quest with me," he murmurs softly. "And, of course, we can keep in touch via these journals while we are apart." Arthur appears troubled. Excuse me for a moment, I must consult the Quest board." * * * Arthur approaches the Quest board, and observes the current sign-ups for Quest 31. "Tarn Valco...Amorith Marvelo...Galen Woodward...Thothwick...I'll have to look out for all of them, try to make their acquaintance. I should probably speak more with Skrall and that Dak Shadeaux fellow as well. What the--" Arthur sees his name scribbled carelessly on the sign-ups for Quest 30. He quickly scratches it out. "Carelessness..." he mutters, walking away. A man in white and purple, with matching glasses and an enormously bushy beard, steps up to the Quest board, accompanied by a quiet-looking man in a suit. "Hah! He's taken his name off. I told you 'e would! Well, we can't have that!" Holding up a scrap of parchment torn from an official-looking document, the man carefully copies Arthur's handwriting back on to the Quest sign-up sheet. "Come on. We don't want him to spot us. Not yet..." As the boisterous, bushy-bearded man slips back into the shadows, his companion remins for a moment in silent contemplation. "..." Waving his hand just above the surface of the sign-up sheets, he stands back a moment to observe his work. The freshly-applied ink has faded from the sign-up sheet of Quest 30, so that Quest 31's sign-up will be noticed first. He glances over and sees, with some dismay, that this effect has also affected Arthur's sign-up for Quest 29, so that Quest 29's sign-up will only be noticed after the other two. He appears worried, as this was not quite what he had in mind, nor, he knew, what Arthur would want, but, having no alternative and seeing his presence drawing the attention of the Heroes, he quickly retreats back into the shadows from whence he came. OOC: Just to clarify, the priority is: Quest 31, if not, then Quest 30, if not, then Quest 29. I wanted an in-character justification.

"Good gods..." Arthur is shocked into near-silence. "Although..." he adds, "if she truly is this powerful, she may be a useful way to...dispose of other threats to our land. Alone, or in small groups, we stand no chance against a being of such power. If all of Olegaia's other threats were removed, and we all could focus our attention on one foe together, maybe--just maybe--we could pull it off..." Arthur seems to no longer be speaking of Baba Yaga, but of some other foe. He returns his attention to the Hall, where Mauryl nearly skewers him as she flys around. Arthur resumes speaking to Cinna. "But those are just the idealistic rantings of a young fool. I'm sure that the next time you two meet, you shall be the stronger." Looking around, Arthur sees neither De'kra nor Atramor. "Say, where did De'kra and Atramor get off to? I was hoping we could all sign up for Quest 31 together, I think we would make an amazing team."

Well, once I have my puzzles selected, I can give you the scraps, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days if we really think about things. Oh, and I stupidly confused number of puzzles with the "scoring" system I have in mind. It's about 400 puzzles I'm trying to get down to about 100-160.

The Quest I'm working on. I haven't pitched it yet, but I want to have the thing at least 70% complete before doing so. It's mostly puzzle-based (aside from a couple of semi-optional fights and a boss), Ivy and B&P are helping to build the sets, and K-nut is helping me sort out and build illustrations for the puzzles. @WBD will do, if you want I could add you to the PM, but I was kinda hoping Skrall would want to go on the Quest (and discussing the puzzles would make that not possible/unfair), so...your call.

Hey, guys, testing notes for the next version...apparently O1 will have randomized phases now. >_< I haven't even STARTED learning the current pattern...
-
Haha, I have a couple buildings made, everything else in that village will be variations of that base model. That reminde me, though, K-nut and I have roughly 1,000 puzzles to whittle down to around 400 or so...
-
Same, but for mine I've already been working. there's still a LOT to build, tho...
-
Ha ha, that's awesome. He'd better show up as an NPC if you ever host a Quest.
-
Erm, how?
-
Arthur, who had raised the shovel like a shield at Mauryl's sudden appearance, lowered it hesitantly. "Uh...hello...Mauryl. Erm, nice to meet you." Arthur turns back to Cinna. "She turned her into a broomstick? Blimey, how on Olegaia did you manage to get away from her? Were you shipped home as a crate of perfume or something, and the Zeigfrieds transformed you back?"

So, basically, he's like Docken but more talkative?
