Arthur stares around at the Dragon and the Orc, more confused and uncertain than ever.
-
I was actually talking about your Quest...
-
But...but he wasn't min-maxing...! EDIT: WBD, maybe it's because I've been playing the Ace Attorney games too much lately, but I totally have the urge to point at the screen and shout "OBJECTION!"
-
Arthur ignores the ranting Orc. Some of what he was saying were his words, but coming from the fool's mouth they seemed...haughty. Arrogant. Insincere. His mind was more occupied by other matters. I wonder...? Arthur pauses. <Vipera,> Arthur thinks, <how does this sensitivity manifest itself? For me, with the Ether, I learned of my power when I was mining an elemental gemstone and, upon touching my hand to the crystal, a blast of frost flowed forth upon the cavern wall; I was unaware of my connection until this event. Do the Spirit Pools work in the same way? Have your fellow Dragons ever known of someone who is...unaware of their connection?> "No, Zane. Your fellows do not embrace the Chaos the way I have. If they are dead, then they clearly did not live in harmony with the Chaos of the world. It is not about 'cheating the system'; it is about surviving in an unstable world, no matter what that world throws at you." "Nonetheless...I think I can guess at why your leader is known as Mephisto. Tell me...just how many...spirits...have been fused to your soul?"
-
DLL, what are you doing?! Let Punii mix jellies, sure, but then just sic Sir Slush on the guy! 12 guaranteed damage, and then the Decay and Deadly Poison will finish him off! No need to risk further damage!
-
"The Spirit Pools..." What had that Progg said about them? "Erm, I have to confess...I don't know much about the Spirit Pools, despite my widespread studies. I..." Can I reveal this to them? Should I...? Arthur caves, and holds back. "I...would very much like to learn more about them." His own spirit churns in turmoil as he awaits a reaponse.

Sounds like a good side-Quest for one of Zeph's animal Quests.
-
Someone, please make this into a boss fight.
-
...which means Nerwen REALLY needs to equip it NOW.
-
I saw, but Arthur can't check the book IC at this time. Wow, REALLY slow day in Heroica today. I went to Disneyland and had less than two dozen posts to read by the time I got back...
-
"Wait...you mentioned when you surrendered that you knew we were working with a Gray Wizard...was this what you meant?" Arthur turns to Gray. "I hate to pry but...perhaps the time has come for that explanation you promised back in the Valley?"
-
Yeah, there's no way the Magician should affect Guardian Angel. On the plus side...the Magician isn't Jinxed.
-
"I just wonder what Ganon Wren's up to." "Well, it seems like Wren is up to something different...I suppose we should return to base." Arthur digs, and then uses his Magnifying Glass to examine the Observatory, in hopes of seeing the Door.
-
OOC: Hoke should have the Counterstrike Gloves, sorry it wasn't made clearer! Also, I bought three Meads, but only two are listed. "Indeed, the timing of the Court's revelation, right after Wren's bout of gloating, seemed too convenient--dividing our forces three ways, and sending us chasing after foes that were not doing her bidding...well, at least not intentionally. It seemed like she was getting us out of the way, and we wanted to check up on you. Especially if it's possible for our enemies to evade Vipera's detection like the Court did..."
-
Answer: kill both Wardens. Zeph, could you please update our stats with Arthur's purchases, please?
-
Not at the Apothecary prices; there's a reason Arthur didn't buy any more Nostrum. Pandora, I bought the Meads for you, plus an extra for whoever else most needs it.
-
OOC: Arthur, seeing that the price of Mead is an exceptional value, adds, "Ah, I think I'll take three Meads as well, thanks." Arthur slides the additional coin across the counter. Total should be 140 Gold, 110 for the Paralyzing Venoms and 30 for the Meads. Whispering to Skrall, Arthur says, "I believe the Observatory is closest."
-
Ah. Also, the singular of "staves" is "staff". [/grammarmodeON!]
-
Spears are sadly under-utilized, sadly. Halberds, too.
-
"As I recall, that would be Bennetton, though I could be wrong," he whispers. Arthur examines the shop with his Magnifying Glass in search of the Door, then holds Zane while Hoke searches him.
-
"I'll take two of those Paralyzing Venoms, thanks." After paying for his poisons and pocketing them, Arthur turns to Skrall. "All right, then, I guess we have no choice but to return to base as quickly as we can. Shall we?"
-
"Hmm...I wonder...it's certainly a possibility to consider, though I don't feel we ought to doubt our allies in the Town Watch..." "I still think we ought to check on Triad and Mallelio first."
-
Arthur slips the Jester's Hat on his head and leans in to whisper to Skrall. "Gray did mention when we first arrived on the Quest that he wanted us to negotiate with the Court. I think now's as good an opportunity as we're going to get; who knows, maybe this guy knows a way to call off the rest of his allies. If we can convince the Court to aid us, then it'll be that many more people we won't have to fight, plus they might even be a help against Wren, crazy as that sounds. I'm about as much a fan of these guys as you--Chaos users don't usually get along well under the best of circumstances--but we need all the help we can get. Besides, we can grab Hans from base on our way to check on Triad and Mallelio--we'll likely need the extra help, especially if we have to split the party even further..." Not for the first time, Arthur wishes he could recruit De'kra for extra support, but, remembering the sort of danger he'd be putting the diminuitive echo in, he pushes the thought aside. Still, he takes a moment to whip out his journal.
-
Ouch... >_< That said, it IS getting to the point of "if I have to sacrifice something to save his life...I won't." / "he's Too Dumb To Live, the Fearless Fool." In fact, just go ahead and list him as "dead" now in the NPC index, he's clearly getting a Darwin Award at some point by the end of the Quest.

"A distraction for Wren. I don't know if you realized this, but she was hiding you from our monitoring of the city. We chased after you and the rest of the Court--not knowing who or what you were--because we assumed you were her next strike on the Doors. " Arthur turns to the rest of the party. "It doesn't take a student of Chaos like myself to know what's happened here. Obviously, she did this to divert our attention away from whatever her real objectives are." When the clerk pops his head above the counter, he spares a glance for the man. "That depends. Are you or any of your assistants injured? Do you require any assistance? If not, do you have anything for sale?" Arthur begins straightening up the store, doing his best to clean up the mess caused by the battle.
