  1. Exactly. In the hands of most Heroes and in ordinary use, Overkill Gloves will earn you a minor amount of extra money. But I'm a Mage--that means I can earn a 2x multiplier on almost every enemy in the game, AND I also have an Artifact that allows me basically a free Fragile on my opponent, and I've bought Meads--thus allowing my an 8x multiplier on attacks. Once I advance to non-Ether classes, I'm automatically losing two of those multipliers (though Mead will stay), which will substantially lower the amount of Overkill I can do. I'm also being careful to let other Heroes whittle down the opponents' health so that the majority of my attack power goes to Overkill. Basically, it's an Artifact that rewards me for the style of play I use anyway--and that's great.
  2. Arthur, true to his word, hands Karie his Potion before she walks off. "All right. If we're both being square here, the situation doesn't look too good for you and Miss Alderflask. First you two seem to recognize or know these thugs' boss, this 'Stealer' person, and then they tell us they're ex-Wolfgang? And then you let slip that this Stealer is involved with doing something to Town Watchmen? Between that and both of your...wariness...from my point of view, it looks like the two of you are Wolfgang spies, sent to sabotage our mission and taking the opportunity to shut up a pair of defectors...permanently. Now, I don't want to believe this--I mean, I fought with you at the Theatre, for gods' sake--but right now it's the only explanation that makes sense, especially since Karie's already got a mark against her." Two, actually, though admittedly robbing Guts isn't explicitly Wolfgang behavior. Still, it's hard to imagine someone stupid enough to think that would work...unless it was meant to prove to the masses that even this invincible paragon of the Houses could be burgled, that even a 'god' can bleed. "So yes, I'm very interested in hearing a version of events that does not implicate the two of you as Wolfgang spies."
  3. OOC: And I should have 61 less gold. "Our tactical situation seems a little fuzzy at the moment, but I think someone should feed Em a Potion--I'll replace it from my stock once we're done with the battle. Lord Boomingham, if you could take Black, that leaves the others to tangle with Spider A and Silver while I finish B." Arthur casts Frailty on ??? Peon (Black) and then casts an Ice spell on Spider B from the Back Row. OOC: ALSO just realized, assuming the "Hit" I rolled is counted as a "success" on the Frailty roll, that means that Karie should have dealt 29 more damage and thus earned 29 more Gold. Yay teamwork! "Oh, didn't see you already on the task. Erm...good work, then." Arthur was still unsure of where the woman's loyalties lay, but he was relieved, at least, to see that her first instinct was to heal a wounded comrade, rather than to take advantage. At least SOMETHING bodes well about her...for the moment, anyway.
  4. OOC: Erm, sorry Endgame, but I can't use scroll actions to use items. I cast Frailty against the Alley Gator (switch it to versus Spider B since A is immune and B is next on the list), and then drank a Grand Potion. That means Spider A should still be alive, but it's been Counterstruck by Boomingham.
  5. Very nice, though I'm not a huge fan of the left arm for some reason. I think it has to do with the angle of the wrist--if only the robot arms could bend to regular minifig angles. Also, I believe that Samus' gun should be colored green as well.
  6. That is correct. They cost 700 gold direct from vendor, I paid a 50 Gold delivery charge for each item I bought from Galen. Man, Hunter with Overkill Gloves...finally there'd be a non-Rogue class that would find it profitable to chug Nostrum.
  7. Could I request De'kra's presence in that pic? Alexis might have chosen to leave, but De'kra and Dyric are still part of Arthur's "family" within Heroica. Also, would it be strange if I requested a pic of all the Heroes with Wolfgang reputation together? Preferably with dark and/or ominous lighting?
  8. "You mentioned this Stealer person stealing Watchmen's senses, and mention being imprisoned, but all of you--the masked fellows included--are being quite irritatingly vague on the whole matter. You say you don't know what happened to them, but I'm getting an ever-increasing sense that I do, and I'm not liking where my suspicions are leading me." First she and the Rogue seem to know who these people are...and now I find out they were once Wolfgang? Could it be...? Arnulf was there at that theatre, and he fought alongside me and Boomingham...but could he have actually been a traitor all along? "As a member of the Watch, I share in brotherhood with everyone who wears the red and blue, but even if I didn't bear a responsibility to the missing, my own personal well-being is in jeopardy, so if we're going chat about things I think I damn well have the right to know what the hell is going on here??"
  9. And now we see why Overkill Gloves are a supremely sensible investment. They just half-paid for themselves, and are about to do so again. Now...imagine Nyx with Overkill Gloves.
  10. "If we're going to go into big long backstories, then, I want to know: what happened the last time this Stealer character crossed paths with Heroica? I don't care who I hear it from, but I want answers." Arthur casts Frailty on the Alley Gator and then, wincing, prepares to down a Grand Potion. If he is healed, he instead casts an Ice spell at the Alley Gator from the Back Row.
  11. Excuse me, I need to go commit seppuku. It will be less painful that way.
  12. Thus demonstrating why Effects on items are so easily OP. Players don't complain about being able to be Lucky all the time--the tables shift substantially when the enemy is Lucky. Similarly, the worse something is when on an enemy, the exponentially nastier it'll get if you put it on a player.
  13. I disagree. Imagine Lifestealer or Conspirator with Piercing Blow equipped. Ouch. The thing with the few SP-piercing swords out there is 1.) they're rare, and 2.) they have to be upgraded separately from other weapons. With an Artifact, you can slap it on on top of powerful and/or Effect-dealing weapons, creating something of a nightmare for QMs. Yes, Artifact slots can be at a premium, but they aren't NEARLY as limiting as weapon-bound abilities--which is a GOOD thing for averting Power Creep.
  14. OOC: Also, AFAIK the Lens turn is a "free" turn, which means that the Scroll action HAS to happen either directly before or directly after my normal action in the Battle Order, but it also doesn't count as a turn for purposes of calculating Free Hits--it works like Hollow Blade item consumption in that manner.
  15. Oh god, Alchemist with Return Postage... Piercing Blow: OP. Straight-up OP, SP piercing should NEVER be in an Artifact, period. Charge up: I like this one, good for Minstrels, Clerics, and Scroll Mages. Baahammer: Slightly OP, but eh, Sleep is underutilized anyway. Also, I never knew about this one, Chuggaaconroy never used or mentioned it. Power Rush: Interesting...though I think it'd be better to operate on a specific multiplier, rather than using Encouraged. (I also prefer a 1.5x multiplier to a 2x multiplier for some reason. Close Call: I don't like this one. Can't put my finger on why, but I just don't. Even better--just use my "You want it? You fight it." mantra for cool items.
  16. "Arnulf, I'll take Spider C, you should take Spider A or B. Lord Boomingham, I think you should be able to tangle with that Gator, especially if I'm able to Frail it." Arthur casts Frailty on the Alley Gator and follows up with an Ice Spell against Spider C from the Back Row.
  17. But Chugga used Zap-Tap. No joke, I've seriously gone through and tried to figure out ways to incorporate all the Badges from Paper Mario that Chuggaaconroy used (I'm still in Chapter 1 of his LP of TTYD), and so far Zap-Tap is the only one that both works in Heroica mechanics AND isn't a complete waste of time (i.e. a specific increase to Power or HP or something). Quick Change MIGHT be another one (allows Evokers to switch their summoned Spirit in battle at the cost of X Ether?), but that's the only one I can really think of that isn't better-handled by an existing Artifact (Peekaboo Bade) or mechanic.
  18. Ooh, nice one, didn't see that. Interesting...in that case, I think a 1/2 chance is more than fair.
  19. I think it'd be fine just as a Lightning-elemental Counterstrike, personally--no need to add the die roll.
  20. Oh, no! The power of Zoot finally got to Hoke, he's planning to attack his own party member! Oh come on, you know that's too good to pass up.
  21. "Fine, but I want a full report when we're done. From all of you." You can attack from the Front Row and not be at too much of a risk, Arnulf; it'll only deal 6 damage thanks to your SP, so you can take two hits from it.
  22. "Which Watchmen? What happened to them??" Arthur's glare was growing steadily more intense. "Also, Arnulf, I take back what I said before, you should target Spider C instead of Spider A." OOC: Hate to say it, but Arnulf attacked from the Back Row, so he should have only dealt 25 damage.
  23. "Watchmen...? All right, what's going on here, you two? You're both acting very...weird. There's something you're not telling us, isn't there?"
  24. They can turn a set of foes from "we can only take ONE hit from any of these guys, otherwise we're toast" to "OK, we have enough breathing room to ACTUALLY have a chance". I keep one as an emergency use item, just in case for when things go to hell.
  25. "Urgh," was all Arthur was able to say. "Leave C untargeted, then." Weakening vs. Alley Gator then Ice vs. Alley Gator, both from Back Row.
