1. "Arnulf, now would be a good time to take that Remedy--I'll replace it when the battle's over. I'll also take Blade on your behalf. Em, Karie, if you could double-team Bomb, that'd be great." Arthur's Actions: Frailty vs. Club Darkness vs. Blade (back) If Blade dead, Physical attack (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Bow (back), otherwise Darkness vs. Blade (back) If Bow not targetted, Sleep vs. Bow, otherwise If Club Fragile, Weakness vs. Bow, otherwise Fragile vs. Club
2. You do realize that now every single enemy will have a special that either a.) deals damage to every party member, or b.) deals damage to every ally (in hopes of ruining Special Mirror), right? ...dammit Hybros, this is why we needed you and that staff on 53! Would have stopped Atramor from murdering half the damn party!
3. "There you go, milord, that should make your dance with the lady more fun! I need to take this round to recollect myself, unfortunately--don't waste Ether healing me, either, I need to recover some Ether of my own anyway. Karie, I suggest you pile on Blade with Arnulf, but Em, you should take Bomb--we don't want you to accidentally wake up Club, now do we! I'll handle Bow when he wakes up." Arthur's actions: Scroll of Frailty on Bow Arthur drinks Elixir (BR) IF Bow Frail, Scroll of Blindness on Bomb, otherwise Scroll of Frailty on Bow Arthur retrieves Unlucky Horseshoe (BR) OOC: Clarification: will Arnulf be auto-KO'd at the end of THIS Round or the end of the next? If it's this Round, we need to Remedy him immediately (Arthur will do it instead of retrieving his Unlucky Horseshoe if no one else changes their action), if not then we can afford to wait until next Round.
4. Dragoon. Basically. I like dragons, and also, Dragoon shares almost all of the same proficiencies as Skirmisher, which would take the sting out of the preparations for that class.
5. Shhhh...! Rule #7 of Heroica: Do Not Give Zepher Ideas!
6. Battle Summary: >Boomingham heals Em (back): >Boomingham heals Em (back): OR >Boomingham VS Samantha (Back): >Arthur casts Frailty on Potion Rack: >Arthur (Lightning) VS Potion Rack (back): >Karie VS Syndicate Peon (Club) (back): >Arthur casts Frailty on Potion Rack: OR >Arthur casts Sleep on Syndicate Peon (Club): >Arthur (Lightning) VS Potion Rack (back): OR >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) VS Samantha (back): >Arnulf VS Syndicate Peon (Blade) (back): >Em VS Syndicate Peon (Bomb) OR if not healed, do nothing
7. You're right. I forgot to account for Level in the dual-strike calculations. If Zaises and co. stick with you guys, you should totally swap the Twin Axe for her weapon, though--she'd be a lot more effective that way.
8. Hey, Myrddyn, just so you know, your math's a little bit off. That Twin Axe is guaranteed to do at least 1 LESS damage per attack compared to the Titanic Axe, and that's dual-striking against the same enemy (you'll do a minimum of 6 less Damage per attack if using the dual-strike against different enemies). The Titanic Axe definitely outclasses the Twin Axe.
9. Go for it! The Ji Pei are the only House where I 100% know Arthur won't side with the opposite side, so I won't say no to Ji Pei reputation. Will I say yes OVER Shadeaux rep? Harder to say. (Definitely yes over Zeigfried-Invision rep--the Zeigfrieds have suddenly become a lot less appealing, but I can't honestly say siding with Invision would be a good idea for him either, so for now both sides are out without an excellent roleplaying reason.)
10. Oh, it's been entirely by PM thus far, don't worry. The main combo should be Amethyst + Opal + Topaz, imbued in that order if you're low on cash. The finished weapon hits 8 of the most common types of enemies for double damage, and is ineffective against only three. Your second weapon should contain a minimum of a Diamond and a Garnet, in that order, in order to super-effective any types immune to your main weapon, and then you add Aquamarine and Emerald in THAT order to the secondary weapon. Alternatively, put either the Aquamarine or the Emerald in a third weapon, though that gets prohibitively expensive when it comes time to upgrade. So for the 2-weapon plan: Weapon 1: Amethyst, Opal, Topaz Weapon 2: Diamond, Garnet, Aquamarine, Emerald Types list: Aquatic - Weapon 1 (2x) Beasts - Weapon 1 (2x) Demons/Dark - Weapon 2 (2x) Electric - Weapon 2 (2x) Fiery - Weapon 2 (2x) Flying - Weapon 1 (2x) Holy - Weapon 1 (2x) Humanoid - Weapon 1 (2x) Icy - Weapon 2 (2x) Mechanical - Weapon 1 (2x) Plant - Weapon 1 (2x) Rock - Weapon 2 (2x) [This is why both Aquamarine AND Emerald are needed--the first makes Rock a neutral hit, the second adds a multiplier.] Undead - Weapon 2 (2x) Vermin - Weapon 1 (2x) Alternatively, with the three-weapon plan (I went with Aquamarine because combination Firey/Rock monsters are more common than Aquatic Rock monsters, and because Aquamarine only has the one immunity): Weapon 1: Amethyst, Opal, Topaz Weapon 2: Diamond, Garnet, Weapon 3: Aquamarine Types list: Aquatic - Weapon 1 (2x) Beasts - Weapon 1 (2x) Demons/Dark - Weapon 2 (2x) Electric - Weapon 2 (2x) Fiery - Weapon 2 (2x) OR Weapon 3 (2x) Flying - Weapon 1 (2x) Holy - Weapon 1 (2x) Humanoid - Weapon 1 (2x) Icy - Weapon 2 (2x) Mechanical - Weapon 1 (2x) Plant - Weapon 1 (2x) Rock - Weapon 3 (2x) Undead - Weapon 2 (2x) Vermin - Weapon 1 (2x) Yes, it's only a 2x multiplier for each type of foe--if you want to get ridiculous multipliers on specific things, it's not hard to look at the element types and stack up the positive multipliers, and/or to become a Hunter. The advantage to my plan is that, once your weapons are set up, you'll never be ineffective against a given opponent type, save for pure Etherial enemies. (If Etherial is combined with ANY other enemy type, you can hit them for neutral damage, as long as you cater to the effectiveness chart for the non-Etherial type.)
11. I've been asked this about four different times now. Lemme go fetch the advice I gave.
12. I just realized that De'kra and I would be killer if we Quested together again--he can cast Jinxed through his spells if I lend him the Unlucky Horseshoe, AND he's immune to Confused, meaning I can use my Healing Staff on him without penalty.
13. "Wish you lot were immune to Confusion. Would make it easier for me to use my Healing Staff on you. Don't forget that Blade will hopefully be Jinxed next Round--if Lord Boomingham manages to shield us, we can go all out on Blade, and maybe Samantha if I can finish off this rack." Arthur's actions: Frailty vs. Potion Rack Lightning (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Potion rack IF Potion Rack dead OR if Potion Rack Fragile, Sleep vs. Club, otherwise Frailty vs. Potion Rack If Potion Rack dead, physical attack (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Samantha (BR), otherwise Lightning (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Potion Rack (BR)
14. Just a formatting tip for submitting solutions to the puzzle in 65 (for your and WBD's convenience): If you set the font to Courier, all characters will be the same width, which makes it a LOT easier to keep the letters and slashes lined up for easy reading. A B C D E F G (etc) Becomes: A B C D E F G (etc) ...aaand it appears putting the answer in a code block does the exact same thing.
15. Although now this discussion has made me consider potential ways to deliberately kill off the same character in multiple Quests as either a Mind Screw or else a running gag (a la "They Killed Kenny"). She is still Scuba's NPC, so...
16. See also: what Scuba just said.
17. Generally, it's considered rather rude to use someone else's NPC without permission, and killing off someone else's NPC without permission is even worse. A LOT worse.
18. "Thanks, Karie. Well, Em should take Club, so that leaves you on Blade, Arnulf. Lord Boomingham, if you could make a conditional action to only attack Samantha if she's not already Asleep, that would be fantastic."
19. Nope. Blinded enemies (and Heroes) don't Counterstrike.
20. "I have the Weapons Rack, if someone can heal me that would be great." Arthur's Actions: Sleep on Samantha Lightning (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Weapons Rack IF Samantha Asleep, Sleep vs. Club, otherwise Frailty vs. Potion Rack IF not healed, take Grand Potion, otherwise Lightning (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Potion Rack
21. Arthur's actions: Sleep on Bow (BR) IF Bow Asleep AND Boomingham fails to heal himself, Grand Potion on Boomingham (BR), otherwise if Bow Asleep, Lightning (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Shield rack (BR), otherwise Sleep on Bow (BR) IF Bow Asleep, Blindness on Bomb (BR), otherwise Sleep on Bow (BR) Lightning (Unlucky Horseshow) vs. Shield Rack (BR) OR if it's dead, Physical Attack (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Samantha (BR) If Em switches his target, Arthur uses above actions and casts his spell through the Unlucky Horseshoe, otherwise he switches to the following actions: Sleep on Bow (BR) IF Bow Asleep AND Boomingham fails to heal himself, Grand Potion on Boomingham (BR), otherwise if Bow Asleep, Darkness (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Blade (BR), otherwise Sleep on Bow (BR) IF Bow Asleep, Blindness on Bomb (BR), otherwise Sleep on Bow (BR) Physical attack (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Samantha (BR) OOC: Ah, dammit, I took too long strategizing, and forgot the posts wouldn't merge. Sorry about that...
22. Why. The hell. Did no one in our party bring Phoenix Essences? I could have SWORN Boomers had a couple of the Chaotic Essences from 66, but noooooo. Also: reading, people! It's not hard to read people's battle actions and pick a different target!
23. "Em, I've got the armor rack, I'll take it out in one hit. Take Bomb or Club instead."
24. That's due in part to the fact that many of the original episodes are lost, as they weren't saved back in the day. In fact, there are substantial rewards out there for people who can deliver even so much as the script for some of those lost episodes... I'm also confused as to the relevance. I mean, I recognize the characters being referenced, but I don't recognize the significance of what Alex said.
25. We're still completely not ready, strategy-wise, anyway. I know Netflix has a free trial mode, but I think it only lasts like a month, and after that you have to pay. Or have they switched to a Hulu-like model?
