Also, have to say that the massive army the Heroes have amassed on 68 is frickin' hilarious.

OK, this is like the bajillionth time someone has said it, and it's frustrating. Hide does NOT pass on Free Hits to another player, and neither does Special Dodge. Yes, SD does pass on the Special to another player, but NOT the Free Hits. The same holds true for the Cloak of Deception--the dodged Free Hit hits one of the ENEMIES, NOT another Hero. I know, right?

"Not at all. We need all the help we can get."

I can't believe you haven't figured out the answer yet. Tomas got converted to Scum, and now that he's in the inner circle he's going to convert the Serial Killer to scum and feed all the Power Roles to them two at a time. Hmm, I wonder if there ARE Power Roles among the guests...
-
Perhaps, but there's also such a thing as burnout. Both Zepher and I have felt it, and it's been hitting me particularly hard. I know I've not been up to my usual standards this Quest, and I really do think it's primarily from exhaustion.

I wouldn't mind getting to sit around the Hall for a little while. The less-than-24-hour turnaround from 66 to 70 was definitely too short for my liking--I barely had time to chat with other Heroes, didn't get to talk to De'kra at all. I'm also hoping I can chat with Dyric ay some point before I leave again, and maybe Nerwen as well if she's around.

Yeah, I am tempted to go MK until I hit Expert. 3 of my intended Expert Classes use a shield, so it'd be a good investment...if only Tonics weren't so expensive (though I Elixirs now, they've saved my megablocks twice now. Really, really glad I had those. )
-
Or that could happen. Heck, on a Quest with Boomers and Guts? And with Hoke, whose awesomeness is primarily from his Knight-hood and not so much from his spell-slinging? Arthur'll likely Seal himself on the first day!
-
A lot of characters seem to distrust Mages...what happens when a Mage starts to distrust himself?
-
Oh yes, Regulator and Skirmisher are both on the list for Expert Classes...I'm looking for a new Advanced Class in the interrum. Sheesh, that'll make, like, three Quests in a row with Boomingham. Pep has already seen and approved of my Chi Monk costume. I'm debating whether or not to sign up for the Q50 continuation, actually.
-
I'm getting tired of Sorcerer, it's just not working out for me the way it used to. I'm considering the different class options, any suggestions?

"Assuming it's somewhere to the Northwest, we're going there. Now."

Arthur's eyes widen suddenly. "I'm an idiot." He quickly downs a Smelling Salts, Mead, and Nostrum, and checks his Magic Compass for Karie's location. While the needle spins, he repeats: "What about it, Lord Boomingham? Even if you don't want to borrow my Scrolls and Lens, I know I'll be more useful with that Monocle than I am with the Lens, given the enemy's capabilities--I'm simply not of enough use this fight, I'm afraid."
-
"KARIE!" "Here, everyone, who doesn't have a Remedy, take one of mine. I'll feed another to Nevron." "We need to rethink our strategies. Lord Boomingham, I think it's clear that our typical equipment allotment isn't going to work here--you should borrow my Lens and Scrolls and focus on healing, and I or Arnulf should borrow Scupperer. Don't bother with Counterstrikes, these creeps will just bypass your armor anyway. I'd do well with that Marksman's Monocle, if you please, that way I can use my Healing Staff without risk of Confusing any of you. Arnulf, Em should borrow the Scarf of Misfortune, and I'll lend you my Overkill Gloves or my Sticky Gloves." Whichever pair of gloves Arnulf borrows, Arthur equips the other. OOC: I have no interest in that hood, nor in anything but the Jinxy Juice--I think I earned that one. I'm not really that interested in Gold, either, aside from even distribution among everyone. Also, I'm assuming the loot remedies get distributed BEFORE I hand out mine--I'll need at least one of my own, I think, before the end battle. Arthur pulls out the Mulled Wine from his dagger's Hollow Blade and slots in his Elixir instead.
-
OOC: Again, I should have gotten 4 rolls vs the Warden and the others should have gotten 2 because Jinxed kicks in immediately. Also, if the Warden went down, then why did I take a Free Hit from him? (And actually, I targeted him, so he shouldn't have gotten a Free Hit at all, even if he lived.) Also, Octavyn should be Blind and Fragile for this Round. Knowing there was little else to do, Arthur readies his spells. Battle Summary (and Arthur's Actions): Boomingham uses Phoenix Essence on Em >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: >Arthur (Darkness) VS Syndicate Admin Octavyn (back): >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: OR if already Blind, Arthur casts Sealing on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: >Arthur (Darkness) VS Syndicate Admin Octavyn (back): Karie VS Syndicate Admin Octavyn (front): >Em VS Syndicate Admin Octavyn (back): Arnulf VS Syndicate Admin Octavyn (front):

Hmm...so if all the rats are dead and the party successfully hits the Queen of Rats, does that result in the universe destroying itself because a physical quality has to divide by zero?
-
Shoot, Karie's going to end up at Level 14.5 at the end of this.
-
OOC: I hate to say this, but Boomers should be down 10 HP since Octavyn defies his SP, and similarly I get 4 rolls since Jinxed kicks in immediately. I'm really really really hoping the other two are Special Damage (instead of SHIELD), we NEED to get those SD rolls out of the dice. Incidentally, I should have no negative effects anymore, thanks to Elixir. "All right, everyone, pile on the Warden. I'll follow Boomingham, so you all can benefit from the results. We'll get Em up next Round." Suggested Battle Order and Actions (including Arthur's Actions): Boomingham VS Syndicate Elite Warden (front) >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) VS Syndicate Elite Warden (back): >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: OR if previous casting successful, >Arthur casts Fragile on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) VS Syndicate Elite Warden (back): OR if previous attack successful, >Arthur (Darkness, Sir Roderick's Sword) VS Syndicate Elite Warden (back): >Karie VS Syndicate Elite Warden (back): OR if Warden dead, >Karie does nothing (back) >Arnulf VS Syndicate Elite Warden (back): OR if Warden dead, >Arnulf does nothing (back)

Arthur is too weak to speak...but suddenly he gasps at his own stupidity. "Everyone! Don't touch Octavyn. Lord Boomingham can Counterstrike him to death, as long as we and he keep healing him." Suggested Battle Order and Actions (including Arthur's Actions: >Boomingham heals self (Back Row) >Arthur uses Elixir on self (back): >Arthur casts Fragile on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: >Karie uses Potion on self (back): >Arnulf VS Syndicate Elite Assassin (back): IF Boomingham not healed, >Arthur uses Grand Potion on Boomingham (back), otherwise >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Admin Octavyn: IF Octavyn not Blind, >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Admin Octavyn:, otherwise >Arthur (Darkness) VS Syndicate Elite Assassin (back): OOC: Yes, I know I'm eating a Free Hit from the Warden--I can take it. I also know that my second action set looks odd--I'm using a quirk of the way conditional actions work to maximize our odds of Blinding Octavyn so Boomers takes no damage. If Boomers needs that Grand Potion, then obviously Octavyn won't be Blind, so Arthur's second action of the set is a scroll action (1 normal, 1 scroll). If Octavyn IS blind on the second action, then obviously Arthur's first action of the set was a successful Scroll casting, meaning an attack is legal (1 scroll action, 1 normal action). And of course, two Scroll actions in a turn are legal either way.

Battle Summary: Boomingham heals self (front): >Arthur casts Frailty on Syndicate Elite Assassin: >Arthur casts Frailty on Syndicate Elite Assassin: OR >Arthur (Darkness) VS Syndicate Elite Warden (Back): >Arthur casts Frailty on Syndicate Elite Assassin: OR >Arthur casts Blindness on Syndicate Elite Assassin: >Arthur casts Frailty on Syndicate Elite Assassin: OR >Arthur (Darkness) VS Syndicate Elite Warden (Back): >Arnulf VS Syndicate Elite Warden (Back): >Em VS Syndicate Elite Warden (Back): >Karie uses Remedy on Em (Back) >Karie VS Syndicate Admin Octavyn (Back):

"Arnulf, help Em with the Warden."
-
Yeah, there's a very big difference between "class/character capable of healing" and actual "healer". Even with Boomingham, we're really hurting for true healing on this Quest. Incidentally, Zeph, I know Scrolls aren't really your thing, but they just aren't working out for me and my Ether pool this Quest, whereas you've spent like, what, four Ether across the entire Quest? It might be a good plan to switch the Scrolls to Boomers and let Arthur handle the combat, at least for next battle.
-
Arthur looks to Karie, then silently and covertly returns the Remedy he had been preparing to use on Em back to his pocket.
-
"Take Warden. We don't want to risk you going down, and there's no risk you'll trigger his Aura."

TBH, what really irks me (and, I think, a lot of other people) is that the movie presents a negative moral: you can embrace who and what you are, and give your all to help others and accomplish great acts of good, but at the end of the day the 'right' thing to do is to give up and suppress your uniqueness so you can be 'normal' and have a boring 'normal' relationship like 'everyone else'. One of the things that made Iron Man my favorite Marvel superhero was that he was wild and free about himself; he knew he was different from other people, and he embraced it. Tony Stark showed the world you could be a half-crazy lunatic geek and still be slick and awesome and beloved by all--a champion of individuality, if you will. His choice at the end of Iron Man 3 is a complete betrayal of the very ideal he stood for, and that's why I hated it.
