1. If you have questions, ask me--I've actually delved surprisingly deep into wikis before, and what I don't know yet I know where to look up. Here's that link I mentioned--easy redlinks for a whole bunch of prominent NPCs. By the way, I've put in redirects for all of the Veterans, so if you're referring to them as Veterans you can link to their Veteran name while if you're referring to them as a person you can just link to their real name; while I'm not super concerned about spoilers, something like that could be pretty blatant (i.e. spoiler revealed by mouseover), so I just dealt with it.
2. Actually working on a page right now that will help you with that. Also, a note to everyone: One of the best things we can do is to create and fill out redlinks. When I'm writing articles, I tend to just put in links to things that should be linked even if the page doesn't yet exist (through either the [[basic link]] wikitext or the [[text to display here|actual link]] wikitext). Click on those and fill them out--it's one click, and even a little bit helps a lot in propagating the Wiki Magic. Another thing that helps: adding Categories to pages. I've gone ahead and defined several categories already, but this way instead of having to make lists that have to constantly be updated, we just apply a Category (such as "NPCs" or "Factions" or "Locations") and it'll auto-update the Category page for easy reference.
3. Yeah, being very specific because I may need to pull in an ally NPC but I don't want to deal with the damage output they'd have with their gem.
4. Wiki exists! Though there's literally just the main page at the moment. Next step: infoboxes and other templates, along with basic articles (i.e. Heroica, Heroes, Eubric, Uland, the Free Islands, Olegaia, the Veterans, etc.). EDIT: Gah! Meant to edit that into my previous post. Also, link: http://heroica-rpg.wikia.com/wiki/Heroica_RPG_Wiki
5. There is, I just have to look it up. I have a Wikia account as well, so that's what I was planning to use.
6. Does the Sage SHIELD still cost 2 Ether without a gem?
7. Diana snorts derisively. "Do you really think those Bonaparte clowns would be any more attentive than this hunk of junk over here?" "There is a...third party who tried to steal the original Vibrataphone several months ago. Another party of Heroes stopped them, but it seems they got a close enough look at the device anyway." Dragonlord leans down to whisper into Actaeon's ear. "For various reasons, the Bonapartes being blamed for my death would actually be worse for our organization. It's not safe to discuss why in front of outsiders--or even amongst our own, unfortunately. Best if we just drop it for now--I'll make some inquiries of my own when we return to Eubric." The party's mages try to set out their bedrolls for a quick nap, but the turbulence and whirring machinery caused by the airship's descent prove too disruptive to allow for rest. "I doubt it. We only have a few more minutes before we land anyway." Even as Nicole speaks, the party notices the ground getting closer and closer. Rugged mountains, vast deserts, and small but wild forests stretch out beneath them, a sunbaked mosaic of browns and greens broken by the gray rock of mountains and the harsh lines of manmade walls and old military outposts, a testament to the Empire's martial heritage.
8. QM Note: Your Power is fixed, Germ. "It can't be of Tritech craftsmanship. It would not have been broken so easily if it had been." For once, Dragonlord and Diana agree on something, as they both roll their eyes. Germ finds no insignia or logo of any kind. It is difficult to tell due to all the damage, but the device seems to have been hastily constructed, and the design seems crude in comparison to the device they'd seen in the Tritech Headquarters. Any more than that is impossible to discern. "Hmm...it is a possibility, but I'm not sure it's the case." "The Bonapartes and may not get along well with Tritech or their sponsors the Ji Pei, but it would be an awfully big risk if the device was somehow traced back to them, especially with us Heroes here to corroborate." Dragonlord frowns, as if on the verge of figuring something out but not quite able to make the connection. "Our technology is perfectly safe! And our scientists are carefully screened and beyond reproach! Clearly an impostor is trying to ruin our good name and our relationship with with Heroica!" Dragonlord suddenly looks up. "That's it!" "What's it?" "I don't think this has to do with you or the Heroes at all...this has to do with me." "...I don't understand." "Miss Tesla, do you know what the consequences would be for the Tritech Corporation if a Veteran of Heroica was killed aboard one of your airships?" "..." "Miss Tesla?" "I...I have never even considered--" "Heroica would immediately withdraw its support, the other Houses would distance themselves from Tritech and the Ji Pei, and the Bonapartes would have the excuse they needed to move in on and shut down Tritech." "But that's insane! Why would we take such an illogical risk?" "That's a good question. But no one would stop to ask it--" "--until it was too late." Dragonlord nods. "Exactly. Meanwhile, we'd be down a Veteran and in disarray, allowing certain...elements to exploit the situation." Diana looks up suddenly. "You don't mean..." "I do." Diana seems irritated at the Dragonlord's suggestion, but bites back her response. She crosses her arms, muttering darkly to herself. Nicole also frowns, but for a different reason. "That plan seems structurally unsound. Why take such a chance on something so likely to fail?" "I'm sure the plan was made in haste. This Quest was organized quickly, so the saboteurs would've had even less time to do their own plotting." "That does not explain why they took the chance in the first place." "Short story: out here, I'm vulnerable. I don't want to say too much, but this is one reason we Veterans try to stay out of sight: we don't want to put the people around us at risk." Nicole still doesn't seem to be buying the Dragonlord's theory, so he gestures to Stealth Shadow. "Robot--er, Shadow. You were on-board the Bostonius the whole time the ship was at Tritch Headquarters, right? From the time it docked to the time it left?" "AF-FIRM-A-TIVE." "Did you notice anything unusual this morning?" "AF-FIRM-A-TIVE. SCANS DE-TEC-TED EIGHT UN-KNOWN IN-DI-VID-U-ALS COM-ING A-BOARD. THEY WERE DES-IG-NAT-ED AS PASS-EN-GERS BY THE CRE-A-TOR." "That's us," Dragonlord explains to the party. "Did you notice anything else while the ship was docked? Any...small animals by any chance?" Nicole gasps in realization. "Of course...and that would explain how they managed to reverse-engineer my Vibrataphone as well!" Shadow appears, for lack of a better word, confused. "PRO-CESS-ING IN-QUI-RY...ERROR. I AM NOT PRO-GRAMMED TO DE-TECT NON-HU-MAN-OID IN-TRU-DERS. I AM UN-A-BLE TO PRO-VIDE A DE-FIN-I-TIVE RE-SPONSE." "A miscalculation I will quickly correct. Thank you, Dragonlord. And you as well, Heroes. It seems we now owe you twice over." Just then, Captain Fragle interrupts. "Missssss Tesssla, we have almossst arrived in Drakencourt." "Thank you, Captain. Please begin your landing procedures." Does the party wish to say anything further to Nicole, Stealth Shadow, or Captain Fragle before they land in Dastan?
9. Lind, you underestimate my obsession. There's also the factor of many of our members doing a little to help rather than a few having to do a lot. Thanks, Doc, I'll get a wiki started this evening.
10. Just so I'm clear, if a Sage has no gem they can only heal and their SHIELD only causes healing, not damage, right?
11. A wiki wouldn't affect the need for the Library, though. Additionally, the way the forum software works, only one person can manage a topic, because only they can edit their own posts. (Well, moderators too, but they already have a LOT of duties, they don't need any more. )
12. That's what we've already been doing, and it's just too much for individuals to handle. I'd be willing to manage a wiki, the only potential issue is actually the logo/use of the Heroica name (I'm not sure if Wikia violates the LEGO fair play guidelines, and I'm even less sure about other common wiki hosts).
13. Watching The International of Dota 2, so few to no updates today until evening at the earliest.
14. "N-no one!" For once, Nicole's monotone breaks, and real fear begins to creep into her voice--a trace amount, but far more than she would usually allow herself. The woman is truly rattled. "There's me, and the crew, and any of the scientists in the lab that morning...but surely none of them would have sabotaged our own ship...right? The only unusual people at Tritech Headquarters were your group." "W-what are you suggesting?!" "Remember that noise I mentioned when we woke up? It was coming from this. The birds fled when I smashed it--seems pretty conclusive to me." "It's not a normal part of the ship, that's for sure..." Nicole stares at the hunk of mangled machinery, as if she could somehow will it out of existence.
15. "I'm not sure why we're still standing here. Probably just to raise your blood pressure so you get madder and hit harder." The Skirmisher's smirk betrays his joke.
16. I'd actually make the "Miss" roll be an Aim variant that automatically gather the thrown weapons or something like that, rather than it being a specific job trait. It's simpler and provides a clear advantage over throwing weapon classes without being overly unbalanced (since it's still only a 1/6 chance). As far as traits, something that provides a benefit based on the number of throwing weapons already in the target might be in order if the class is specifically aimed at throwing weapons.
17. Winged Warrior uses throwing weapons, as do Beast Warrior, Infiltrator, and Scholar.
18. It's funny--a LOT of 93 seems like it was drawn out from my plans for my Cathedral of Mercutio Quest (which will not be happening now, because...well, I've seen that it just wouldn't work): A nearly all-Rogue party, an open world within one building, boatloads of allied NPCs, an underdeveloped plot about obscure secrets that never really reached out to grab the Heroes in particular...the list goes on and on. When I realized this early on, I was super excited, because I thought I'd be able to take this Quest (which, as a Sandy Quest, I assumed would be far better than anything I could accomplish), learn from its mistakes, and tweak things to make my own even better. Instead...I got to watch a crash course in how not to design a Quest. First of all: yes to everything Kinto has said. But I feel like I should add: this Quest was completely unforgiving--one f*ck-up, one bad roll and the entire party was screwed; there were no second chances, no "good-but-not-optimal" moves, and, worst of all, no way of strategizing or planning ahead because there was no consistency. Look at Quest 53: despite it being the Arc Finale of one of the most cataclysmic story arcs we've seen, featuring enemies we almost ALL complained about because of their difficulty, 53 was still more forgiving than 93. A Quest with perma-KO for players was more forgiving than a simple rescue mission. That's not a good thing. I do want to address some things on the player side that I noticed as a spectator: Heckz was completely overpowering, and I feel like sometimes a lack of characterization happened on the part of both players and NPCs because he would not just shut the f*ck up. I really admire the consistency of Heckz' characterization, Cutcobra, and there was some really nice development over the course of six months, but sometimes it's best to just not say anything, even when it would make sense for the character to say something. It's selfish roleplaying, just like most of my RP on 31, 38, and 53 was, and the longer the Quest goes on, the more obnoxious the Quest becomes to read because of it. (Sorrow and Karie were similarly guilty of this as well, just not quite as much in my opinion.) On another facet of the same issue, I do also feel that some of the lack of NPC characterization came from the party's side as well. Heckz is pretty much impossible to work with (which is fine, because his whole schtick is "impossible to work with"), but other than that the only ones I really saw interacting with the characters in any meaningful manner were Karie and Sorrow, and the latter spent half of his time delving into Karie's backstory or bemoaning the fact that he's going to die soon. (Endgame, I'm going to give you the advice people keep giving to me and that I've only recently managed to start putting into practice: say more with less.) I barely saw Thalion, I barely saw Erik, and was Amorith even on the Quest? I see posts, but I can't remember a single stand-out moment between him and an NPC. Stand up! I've seen you give us more in the past, I want to see you give us more now. I know it's hard to do with Heckz, Sorrow, and Karie of the Spotlight Stealer Squad prancing about on center stage all the time, but it only makes things more fun for everyone if EVERYONE gets to have their time in the limelight. Flip side: I really think those NPCs could have done more to try to draw out the quieter characters. It's one of the thing that Zepher and Endgame NPCs do: there'll be a quiet lull in the Quest (whether by accident or design), and they'll pop up and start prodding the players for a roleplaying sequence. It's simultaneously one of the most annoying and the most awesome parts about them, but it also serves to give them depth: they become active participants, rather than passive followers. Compare how people responded to Denerii (actively voiced by Chromeknight) versus Flavius in Dastan, or Knife-Tongue in 51 and 82 versus Knife-Tongue at the start of Baltarok. Hell, not to toot my own horn, but compare how the party is responding to Diana (active NPC) and Stealth Shadow (slightly active NPC) versus Dragonlord and Nicole (passive NPCs/exposition fountains) in 104. It doesn't have to be through cool combat abilities (see: the Alchemist in 93 whose name I can't even remember despite having an awesome class), just have them...talk. Have them take an interest in the players, and the players will take an interest in them. And don't get lazy--be consistent! I distinctly remember several moments where people tried to interact with Nuitan and Noel and just got nothing back in response. If you want a player to take ownership of a character the way I did with Knyghton or Chrome did with Denerii, then by all means let them (it can lead to very cool things), but if you want to voice them yourself you have to bite the bullet and do it. Yes, it's hard, believe me, I know. Sometimes it requires an intuitive knowledge of what will provoke an interesting conversation, and sometimes that intuition is difficult if not impossible to find. But it's important, especially for a long-term NPC or Escort Mission. I think in the end, making the players want to save the kids would have made things a lot more pleasant for everyone. What makes an Escort Mission is the conflict between conflicting ideals--in its most basic form, it's the conflict between self-preservation and completing the mission, but the basic form is just plain frustrating. A good escort mission pits the players' desire to keep someone they like (or at least find interesting) alive against the need to stay alive themselves to complete the mission--if they fail to protect the escort, they aren't failing their mission, they're failing themselves. That's not to say a mission-critical escort mission can't be good, but the escort has to be smarter than a sack of dung. With regards to the kids and their factions specifically, it seemed like you tried to pit the players' desire to save certain kids against their desire to save other kids, but the end result fell flat because they didn't really want to save any of them. I like Endgame's suggestion: why not let multiple kids from a set buff the party with a positive effect, but only if they're not also with kids they hate? It would have at least given a mechanical reason to want to save kids, and would have made it both more desirable and more viable to split the party as you originally intended. (Even something as simple as Camaraderie would have been enough--though obviously that specifically wasn't invented until 102, but still, even something that simple would have helped.) The battles were too complex. At some points I was getting daily requests for strategy suggestions, and so many times I was unable to help, simply because there was no good strategy. If I can't find even a decent strategy, you know something's terribly, terribly wrong. I agree with everything Kinto said about them. Bottom line: you lost your players--at a few points, I was literally begging Endgame to at least save Lyren before he gave up, just because "Ly and Nute" is one of my favorite storylines and it would be heartbreaking to see it end as anticlimactically as "and then they died because the party couldn't handle the Quest". Once you lose your players, your Quest is dead--at that point, you might as well just try to finish as quickly as possible so they don't have to suffer any longer than is absolutely necessary. On the plus side: as always, your sets were beautiful. Noel is among my favorite recent designs of yours, and most of the teachers were really interesting to look at. You also dropped, as usual, some really nice loot, and the reputation options you offered were pretty sweet as well. It's just unfortunate that the rest of the Quest fell so thoroughly apart.

I WILL USE THIS KNOW-LEDGE TO BET-TER PRO-TECT THE CRE-A-TOR IN THE FU-TURE." Nicole and Stealth Shadow have left the party! As the party divides their loot, a small crunching sound can be heard from the back of the airship, and the remaining avians that had been circling the ship suddenly disperse as quickly as they had come. Dragonlord approaches, his expression grim. "Trouble?" "You could say that. It appears we've been sabotaged--I believe this was responsible for those creatures' attack." Dragonlord holds up a small, crudely-constructed mass of machinery that was now smashed beyond all repair. None of the party had noticed it before, but the crushed cone atop it bore a striking resemblance to a device they had seen very recently... "A Vibrataphone?!" Nicole gasps. What will the party do?
20. "I wouldn't know, I've never really had the chance to appreciate wine all that much--too busy having my taste buds burned out by Mead and Nostrum and all the rest. I'd agree with the eternal placement, though, if only because he dares attack a friend of the Shadeaux." Arthur glances toward Thormanil and the cloak he now wore. "Of course, my feelings on that were probably obvious already." "Ah, thank you. Its origin is...rather unique. I've had some work put into it since then." "I'm a Skirmisher, milady, protecting others is my specialty--but yes, we do need to get moving. I'm ready to head inside." "No," Arthur says, a little more forcefully than he intended. He clears his throat. "The last time my party was on guard duty and a fuzzy animal showed up, it turned out to be a spy for Violetta the Cat Burglar. If the Wolfgang are involved again...it's not worth the risk."
21. QM Note: Only classes with Ether can use Scrolls, though Scrolls can be imbued into Artifacts at the Marketplace to provide immunity to the effect they inflict.
22. I thought that had happened, only for Zeph's plot-relevant Artifact to get in the way. Also: Damn it. I knew something was off about that battle when I first posted it. Oh, well, hopefully at least someone will appreciate the Artifact I dropped--just as a reminder, everything in that battle was stolen from somewhere else in Heroica.

Siercon follows up on this success by finally eliminating the Phoenix, the creature bursting into flames and burning to ashes in response to the Mage's powerful beam of searing light.
