  1. I was just at my LEGO store today and they told me they just got the new magnets in. The store employees told me people have been calling every day for these things. I picked up one of each. If anyone is interested, I can post pics tonight. This may be old news (I didn't have time to go through the entire 70+ pages of this thread to find out) as I'm not a big magnet fan so let me know if you want pics.
  2. OK, my local LEGO store finally got the Cafe Corner set in! I ran down there today for lunch and picked it up. The box is huge! Even though many pics have already been shown, I'll try to post some tonight that are unique. I'll start building it and try to get the review out by the end of the week. Looks like a great set!
  3. I hear you on that! I've been to Legoland, California about 6 or 8 times now and their store is ALWAYS lacking in inventory. The Downtown Disney store in Anaheim is the same. I'll never understand how they can't keep those stores stocked. Yes, I realize that these two stores have very heavy traffic and probably sell their inventory very quickly. However, I used to work for a major oil company and we had a store in Arizona the lead the nation in beer sales. You know how they did it? They received THREE shipments of beer per DAY! I'd be willing to bet that the Legoland and Disney stores probably only get their regular one shipment per week and that's why they are always out of the good stuff and have two-year old Duplo sets stacked to the ceiling! Oh, well...
  4. It is available on S@H in USA now. Cost is $140. I called my local LEGO store and they said it would not be in until Tuesday :-( . However, I really think they mean Monday as that is when they get all their shipments. I'll call them back later today just to be sure...
  5. Yes, I was planning on going either Saturday (tomorrow), Sunday or Monday at the latest. I called again today and they told me "it should be here tomorrow!" We shall see...
  6. My local store said they would have it on the 10th. This is unusual since the told me they only get shipments on Mondays. I guess they are getting a special delivery for this set. I am planning on going in and buying one if they actually do get it. I'll take some quick photos of the box and manual to hold you guys over until I can build it and do a proper review.
  7. Excellent suggestion. I just sent you a PM to discuss.
  8. Glendale, California. They knew exactly the set I was referring to and I didn't even have to give them the set number. Sounded like they had been asked about it multiple times previously...
  9. I just called my LEGO store and they said it would be available to purchase (in store) this Saturday, March 10th. It is $140.
  10. I called my local LEGO store and they said the set should be in the store this Saturday, March 10th. It will be $140.
  11. Sorry they wouldn't do it for your order, but to answer your question, I took in the Email confirmation. Good thing you called and yes I agree that you should cancel and buy there. $240 in gift cards is a lot to pass on.
  12. Yes, I agree the 'hat' draw at the park in front of several members is the best if it can be done. That way there is no disputing who won and it adds to the excitement. The deadline for sending in the payment can be a couple of days before the event and one of the members can take the list and everything could be done on site. Is there a list of people going available so that we can identify a couple of people to facilitate this? Based on my calculations, quantity 65 $10 paypal payments would result in an approximate $40 fee total. That would be taken from the $650 leaving $610 available. Figure the Falcon costs $540 with tax that leaves $70 available for shipping.
  13. A couple of thoughts: - We can sell 65 tickets = $650. - The Falcon will be ordered in the US. Based on my order, the total is about $540 (including tax.) - If the winner is in the US we can try to change the ship to address and get the free shipping. - If the winner is overseas, the addtional $110 will go to cover the cost of shipping to the winner's country. - The person receiving all the Paypal money will incur a fee. I looked at my paypal account and I received a payment of $10.99 and Paypal took $.62 from it. Based on that and approximate paypal charge for 65 payments will be about $40. That needs to come out of the $650. - So, after all that, there is about $70 left over to ship the Falcon either within the US (if we can't get the free shipping) or overseas. I have no idea if that is reasonable or not. Maybe someone can help out with that. - If $70 is sufficient to ship, then great! If not, the winner will need to pay the difference. - If there is any left over money, I suggest we donate it to Eurobricks to cover the costs of the website. Thoughts?
  14. Glad to help out. *sweet*
  15. I think it would be great if you guys could do this at the Eurobrick event in Germany. Even better if you can get a LEGO official to draw the name. If that is not posible, I have a suggestion on how to make this as impartial as possible: You need two members who are not participating in the drawing. You could have one person make a list of all the participants and give them a number. You would then have a second person pick a random number between 1 and the number of participants. Obviously, the person picking the random number is not supposed to see the list and therefore has no idea and can't fix the drawing. The person who matches up with the picked number wins. Since I was not going to participate in the drawing, I would be happy to help and fill one of these roles if needed. What a great way to get someone a Falcon. Nice going Jamie!
  16. Wow, both are really nice! I like the helicopter in the second one - very cool.
  17. Yes, of course I was not suggesting you were advocating this. Sorry if I implied that. The loyalty cards are pretty straightforward. It is a card with 16 circles on it. For every $25 spent, they stamp the circle. When you get to 8 stamps, you get a $10 gift card. When you complete the second set of 8 you get a $20 gift card. So, when you spend $400, you get $30 in gift cards. It all seems to be tracked on the receipts as your reciept will show line items for every stamp given out and every gift card given out. If you become a regular, the staff gets to know you and they kind of help you out. They'll say "Hey, your're at $48. Pick something up for $2 and you'll get another stamp." It's a nice program and it's good to have the gift cards for that time you walk in and they have that new set that you've been waiting for. Pulling out a $20 gift card helps soften the blow when buying things...
  18. Glad it could help someone. Yes, there are a number of ways you could 'scam' the system to get the stamps and I thought about not posting this for that very reason. However, they did take a copy of my pre-order sheets (with the confirmation number) and the LEGO gift cards are bar coded so they probably link them up in that giant matrix database in the sky. So, if you cancel your order they probably invalidate your gift cards. If you already used them, the LEGOs that you purchased suddenly melt and the minifigs disappear... Seriously, I figured the people on this board are adult enough not to try to scam the system because as soon as someone does, LEGO will probably stop doing it for everyone. I would then lead the angry mob of AFOLs to the home of the person who screws this up for everyone. Speculation: This probably only works with pre-order as it did for my pre-order NXT and Falcon. However, you may want to call your local store and ask to be sure.
  19. OK just thought I would pass this along: Background: I ordered two UCS Falcons, one the day it became available and another about a week after. Story: I was in the LEGO store about two weeks ago and saw they had a sign posted that said you could pre-order the Falcon in the store. I asked if you get the loyalty stamps when you pre-order and they said yes. So, I asked "what if I already ordered it online, can I still get the stamps?" They said "Yes, just bring in your pre-order confirmation." Yesterday, I go back to the LEGO store with my two pre-order confirmations and said "Hi, I'm back. I have my pre-order confirmations for the UCS Falcon. I'd like to get my loyalty stamps please." The lady took a look at my two pre-order confirmations and said, "Sure." Then she proceeded to stamp out a gazillion stamps which covered TWO and a HALF loyalty cards and then gave me $70 worth of LEGO gift cards (2 full cards = $30 x2 plus a half card at $10 = $70). "There you go!" she said with a smile. I was dumbfounded. Conclusion: If you pre-ordered the falcon and live by a LEGO store, it is probably worth your time to take your pre-order confirmation page in at see if you can get your stamps. This may be a store based decision so you might want to call ahead. As usual, your mileage may vary... Let me know your experiences. Interestingly, they did the same thing for me when I pre-ordered the Mindstorms NXT. I just came in with my online receipt and they gave me the stamps.
  20. Hello. I'm looking to purchase (or trade for) the following: 10019 UCS Tantive IV/Rebel Blockade Runner 10129 UCS Rebel Snowspeeder These are going to go on display so I don't need MISB. In fact, I would prefer these sets be complete (box and manual are optional). I can pay with paypal and live in California. I am also on the SSL over at FBTB. If you are looking to sell these sets, please send me a PM and let me know the details (price, condition, etc). If you want to trade, I do have a number of sets I can trade from many different lines (castle, pirate, classic space, potter, technic, star wars, etc.) Let me know if you are looking for something specific. Thank you.
  21. PM sent.
  22. This is great! I love playing around in MLCAD and I love your design. Thanks for the tutorial as well. I'd be really interested to see how you guys do the instructions. I've always wanted to know how to do that in MLCAD.
  23. That was excellent!
  24. Wow, fantastic work! I love the new colors, much better than the blue (which I never understood).
