  1. Well as I already said the changes would strike a compromise between TLC's new policy of story driven themes, generality and compatiblity with older sets. I didn't mean to keep certain aspects of KK2 for kicks or because I somhow keep a sympathy for it (Way no!!!), but to indeed show up a way TLC might go to bring KK2 to a point where we have the the biggest amount of freedom while still being tied into an overall story-concept. As for that snake skin-shedding image: Don't you agree that although said snake might lose its "outer shell" it still remains, in certain aspects, the same individual snake? In fact I see that comment rather as one strenghtening my concept than contradicting it. Because the reform is indeed what I planned from the very beginning. Well, I will then just settle my cause and bear another year of mediocre castle-sets and ultra-lame chlich
  2. My chain of thought was actually, that I don't WANT to drop KK2 since I always find it very sad, that newer lines of one certain theme (space, castle...) might possibly only be of limited compatiblity. And: Why abandon Shadow Knights? As I ended my last post with: I ran out of time...so I might continue here. And let me state it anew: I want to make sure, that older parts of KK2 are still compatible with newer sets of the same line. So let me take up the red thread here....ok! Shadow Knights emigrate to another continent...into the desert. As for the reasons we have here: We can introduce adventurer-like sets of arabian, maybe even persian or babylonian architecture in the castle-line. We may have oases, caravans, markets, ruined fortresses. And we may have to reform Shadow Knights someway, so we just re-christen them: "Scorpion Knights" or "Knights Of The Scorpion Order"...their leader could bear a title along the lines of "Desert King", "Scorpion King" or the like. We already covered Black Falcons...so what comes next? Old characters! I see Danju being a Knights-Trainer of some sort. Think Yoda in his Exile here. I imagine him running a school for knights of some sort, with many children learning from him. Santis is for me the "family guy" of the knights. Something like being not only
  3. Nice you found this topic fellow AFOL (or TFOL if you're younger...). Here I will present some of my thoughts on how I would imagine, and like for that matter, KK2 to continue in it's iterations in future years. Well what have we now? We have Morcia. Land of colorful and stereotypic knights, no account on female population known, unorthodox procedures of throne procession, a loose structure of feudalism (given the handful of tenures governed by the knights) and some hints at magic works. We have Ankoria, for seconds. Not much to say about it except for this: the "Dark Lands" in the story. We all know modern stories of the fantastical kind just NEED to somehow contain at least ONE of these...throw in a "Forgotten/Forbidden Land" as well and you're set and good to go. No need for saying that the evil guy will always, and I'll repeat it just for emphasis: ALWAYS, settle there, no matter how unlivable, hostile and plague ridden the sombre country of choice may actually be. No need for agriculture here. Minions don't need any sort of food, or comfort or resources for weaponforgery...no, gentlemen. What happended so far: - Dark Lord/ Magician/ Fallen Knight /Wannabe King/ Obvious Suspect For Future Cases Of Treason betrayes the good and wise king, imprisons him and assumes power in the country - Four of the colourful knights foil his plans, free the king and in the passing rediscover some ancient knight-magic...yadda,yadda - Dark Lord/ Magician/ Fallen Knight /Wannabe King/ Obvious Suspect For Future Cases Of Treason flees and makes his refuge in already mentioned "Dark Land" *yawn*, threatens to reclaim the land of colourful knights by force - The knights set out to foilhis plans again, overcome his army, infiltrate his hideout and put him out of his evil business once again...the day is saved...*yawn
  4. This combo pack of said sets is indeed available in Germany...but I'm hesitant to grab it. Another Santis and Rascus?! Come on! There are only two sets of the bigger sort that contain Danju, so him and another Shadow Knight would have been a nice and fine addition. And it'd make for increased interest on my part. A pro for this set would be, that it is the only one you can get Vladek in apart from his big (and expensive) castle. And he sports one of those oval shields with scorpion print...nice thing to have imo. Well, perhaps I'm getting this anyway... See you on the boards, Cutty edit: Haha! My german strikes back! Instinctively I typed "scorpion" with "k" for "c"...funny because usually it's the other way round.
  5. Hmmm...currently I'm doing my second run through Zelda: Wind Waker in order to find all pieces of hearts and to fill up the nintendo gallery. And my sister gave me Civilization 3 as birthday present...so I'm trying to get my little Hellenes past the ancient world era....sadly I lose my edge in science and military always shortly before the time of Christ's birth...and the Persians and Babylonians always give me a tough competition...well...sad See you on the boards, Cutty
  6. Sorry, but isn't Michael by any chance more likely to be equipped with a lance? Maybe you can add a dragon/large snake beneath him, twisting and winding over the earth, with Micheal thrusting his lance into it? That would be cool. Keep in mind this is only what I personally observed about christian iconography. I don't know whether Michael may appear with a sword. Armour though is optional! Depending on the era in which he was depicted, the artist may have chosen contemporary coats of arms....I think so at least :| @languages: Which son of Apollon? I cannot remember the whole convolute of the olympic gods so this name escapes me here. Is he by any chance to be found on the gigantomachy-frieze of the pergamon altar? One of the star-deities (like Iris, Eos, Nyx and the like)? Dang, if only I could remember... Or maybe one of the dioscures?
  7. Two reasons for me not to get this set: - peach figs - figs would be the ONLY pro reason here, and they are not worth the expense of a WHOLE ship... well...the faces ARE nifty though. Now if only they came in yellow and in a smaller set... Nice review, but the pics may be too big for some...for me at least. See you on the boards, Cutty
  8. Here's another idea: Aeroplanes! Now that sounds dull but isn't! Think "Crimson Skies" and "Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow" (I've never seen that movie though....). Ogel would have a floating hideout (perfect for avoiding detection) that's covered by artificial stormclouds. Like a wandering thunderstorm. The Team would have small and agile aircrafts and something that resembles either a worldwar II bomber but here it's more of a refueling/reconnaissance vessel...base....thing....whatever ;) The only question: Rotors? Go or no-go?! I mean, Alpha-Team HAS some kind of science-fictiony appeal to it, so rotors would be...too retro, wouldn't they? But jet-engines...I don't know...too fast? Well...just an idea anyway. See you on the boards, Cutty
  9. I don't think this would work... an ancient Greece and Rome theme on its own however...*drool* @Topic: Definitly space Alpha-Team! But only if the following points are covered: - believable vessels - generic torso-prints for the whole team. No weird depiction of equipment of any kind and/or obscure logos! - better face prints sans headsets! Better, in this case, means "universal". It must be something that is not only Alpha-Team. - redesign Ogel or introduce a new threat (no aliens!!!) - use existing parts for space equipment. The firefighter headgear makes for excellent space suits! - villain base just HAS to be on an asteroid! Would be too cool! - ship design somewhere between the old spaceport sets and Life On Mars - spacegear and toup
  10. AWESOME! This may be the first building contest I'm going to participate in (well, if my time managment doesn't fail me ^^). The idea is great, though the categories...I don't know what to say... I miss something like a "limited parts" and "use of obscure/useless parts" category, or will this be covered via the judging rules (construction-wise I mean)? Concerning photographs: the limit is 5 pix
  11. Holy....! I rather have these in REAL gems but...they'll make for a good minfig treasure hoard anyway! Makes me want to visit my nearest PaB store (which is, to my knowledge, a Lego Brand Store about 50km away :'( )... Anyway, shiny!
  12. Woah! Thanks a lot folks! Considering that I hardly have any noteworthy postcount on this board, I find it rather astounding to find a topic solely dedicated to my birthday! Well, thanks again... Btw: Up to this point my birthday was very nice indeed. A visit to an exhibition about sports in ancient greece, lots of wine as birthday presents, money for my next trip to my tattoo-artist (!) and only 1 hour ago a nice dinner out. If you wonder: No! There has been NO Lego for my birthday so far...but I think I'm better off this way...noone to buy the wrong stuff ^_^! Ok...to bring this to an end, Thanks! again...see you on the boards!
  13. well, despite the negative comments left for these "knights", and the disapproval associated with it, i feel it is my duty to report that apparently nestl
  14. OH.MY.GOD!!! awful concept awfully executed. although those are preliminary dino-mock-ups i must say THIS IS RIDICULOUS! what devilry comes next? a minifig-drug-whore-brothel? couldn't get much worse. nice torsos and vehicle parts (lots of dark red) though...
  15. i've played many video games in my relatively short life and i have to say that my alltime favourites are those good old 8 bitty NES-era pearls of interactive entertainment and the usual suspects on the ever-fantastic SNES. namely (among others): - megaman (all for NES) / megaman x (for SNES) - kid icarus - secret of mana / secret of evermore - demon's crest (gothic jump 'n fly!!!) - most super mario titles for said platforms - the zelda series - tenchu - stealth assassins (this one's for PSone and is indeed utter crap but still fun to play!) - sonic-series (sega genesis/mega drive) as for next gen consoles there are: - phantasy star online (episode I&II) - (of course) zelda and mario titles - both sonic adventures - the resident evil remake for NGC (this is fun to play!) and out of all competition and favouritism: - the pokemon-series! (don't you laugh! it's mostly mathematics and strategy when played accordingly!) i admit, i haven't bought new games for ages now , mostly due to me lacking any interest in virtual entertainment lately (with "lately" encompassing a period of about 3/4 year now...). i figure i somehow "grew out" of this video game hobby that once was my favourite freetime activity... and the best thing is: i don't even miss it that much! (= more time, more money, more me!)
  16. hmm, i wouldn't interpret too much into one minor spelling mistake... although i grow more and more sick of this "mister x" here and "mister x" there i do still think that the advent of this legend is utterly plausible. that blue hot rod set (last to be re-released as a legend) indicates legos attention and caring for their "model team"-line already. while having semi-reliable sources and quoting them is fine, having common sense and putting it to good use is a rare quality of its own. there might be something strange about the initial anouncement of this set, and i bet it is the often stated spelling mistake. if not, it might as well be the "too good to be true" price (come on! barely 130
  17. Hey great! Sunday morning's gonna be good tomorrow! First watching an old episode of "wickie und die starken m
  18. admit it! you would love it even MORE if those pics were to be first shown here on EUROBRICKS...
  19. great price per piece ratio! definitely worth its money... the model itself is truly amazing, but i personally could not care less about big trucks. so for me: great for parts!
  20. Mutant dinosaurs loose in the city, rampaging and generally wreaking havoc on everything minifig-civilisation calls good and worthy? YESSSS! But can someone here smell B-I-O-N-I-C-L-E creatures as well? Oh the anticipation before the first leaked pics is killing me (or is it just hunger? ;) )... Honestly, "light-up eyes" get my hopes up for "Brick-Built-Bestialities" but taking Legos love for mixing regular old-school minifig sets with bionicle-creatures into account cools down these hopes rapidly. Collectible mini-dinos? Sounds cool. Calls for some nice JP mocs. God, it would have been cool, if Lego announced this line when I was like 10 or 11 years old; that would have made a little Lego-lovin' Dino-freak VEEEERY happy....well, too late now. 11 years too late....
  21. [brag-mode=on] I managed a 2,0 in my chemistry "leistungskurs" (= advanced learners class in german high schools) [brag mode=off] But I'm nonetheless happy to see another student freed of a class he (apparently) dislikes. Now if I had had that luck in seventh grade with french and could have chose latin instead (which, along with ancient greek, I will have to learn when I go to study history in a few weeks), I would be a much happier person today... Note to all french members on this forums: Never force me to write in french! Please! I can not be held responsible for you puking all over your screens! (Yes my french is really THAT bad, believe me...) But I'm slippin' away... Congrats Apophis! A 3 isn't even half bad!
  22. my liking for the viking line went nosedive when i saw those pictures! sanctified feces! those vikings are utterly misportrayed as axe wielding barbarians! look at those maniacal face expressions...i am struck with disgust people. besides that: although i first thought the sets were improving with every new prototype pic emerging, i know think they rather went downhill. frankly i admit that i know officially HATE the longship set! and it initially was the one that first fired my interest for the whole line. those HP sets don't do it for me, and KK2 is only "acceptable" as is. well at least there is the glorious city line i can focus on (seems to be time for building some nice houses to found a legocity of my own...) greetings, cutty
  23. And I thought the toystore I frequent was cheap (having a regular 20% off price-policy on Lego), but you guys definitly have access to gorgeous steals. I mean what's with X-Wings for 10$ if it's like more than 70
  24. Hey Apophis! If I had photoshop currently installed I would like to 'shop a picture of a viking with "hornets" on his helmet, but my bad luck always strikes in the most inviting situations. Well I still can imagine it: Viking1: "BZZZ,BZZZ" (sound coming from his helmet btw.) Viking2: "What's that strange noise? Where's it come from?" Viking1: "Well my friend, meet my trusted helmet-hornets! (BZZZ!). They look very cool, and I never have to worry about honey again!" Viking2: "Yeah so, but what's with all the stingin' they do? Does that hurt?" Viking1: "What stingin'?" Viking2: "You know, the stingin' that hornets are prone to do..." Viking1: "AAAAARGH!" (runs off screaming) And what do we learn today in Viking-school? Don't get your helmet decoration and aggressive insects mixed up! (Thumbs up Apophis! I needed a good smile today! =) )
  25. my impressions: -vikings: getting cooler and cooler the more different set-versions are showing up, the dragons do definitly look nice as they are right now, KK2 swords, metal-effect armor isn't that beautiful, horns/teeth are separate parts and are used in abundance (thumbs up! cool new part!), apparently NO separate beard-pieces whatsoever (thumbs down!), still too many bionicle-parts -minifig bionicle = my lunch in reverse mode ;) -HP: BLACK FALCON SHIELDS on the durmstrang ship!! nice! the hung. horntail indeed uses the viking-dragon wings as far as the other stuff is concerned: I don't care have a nice day, Cutty
