  1. M_longer has a spectacular R/C dump truck. I thought I heard he might be making instructions, but I may be thinking of another model.
  2. That is an old 9V cable for the fiber optic element. You could use a newer PF extension cable (in addition to the one Chase suggested for the motor), but they are bulkier. Right. This is the small white band from the Space Shuttle, but you could use pretty much any rubber band. This is just the spring return for the throttle. You could, but I wouldn't. The train regulator is built into the structure of the stand and they are not expensive. This will also allow you to plug it into the wall instead of using batteries. If you choose to use the PF battery box, you don't need the train the regulator or the IR Receiver. There is speed control right on the battery. Yes. In fact, the spark plug firing is timed correctly to the engine if you build it right.
  3. I would LOVE to build that. If only there were instructions. Of course, it is slow and therefore less efficient than doing it by hand, but I don't care.
  4. I used to think I had too many axles and pins. I had more than 5000 black friction pins alone sitting in a bag. However, I have now used all of them up and actually had to buy pins for the first time ever. Painful. So to summarize, no, it is not possible to have too many axles, bushes, and pins. It is only possible to have too few models.
  5. Yes, you could use two and never notice the difference.
  6. They are behind the fuel cap. You can't see them at all. You could substitute almost anything and hardly know the difference.
  7. Beautifully done! Is it essentially spot motion with morphing between frames?
  8. Try building Lipko's V12 Coupe. Now that was a real challenge!
  9. If putting two motors together in parallel, XL are the best idea. The reason for this is that if one of the receivers loses a signal for some reason, one motor will backdrive the other. XL motors can be backdriven quite easily without damage, but other motors may not fare so well.
  10. My dream for the fire plane would be a Martin Mars. These are based out of Vancouver and I see them occasionally.
  11. The OP has already posted it at Dropbox. Just look 3 posts up.
  12. I really love that model because Burlington Northern is right next to my office and I see these engines every single day. The most amazing part to me is that Bricksonwheels managed to build this in another country without ever seeing the original.
  13. Nico71's braiding machine uses an inverted track loop for the main drum. Uses 48 tracks and is about the smallest diameter you can make.
  14. You are certainly earning some ingenuity points this year. I don't know what you can redeem them for, but you've got them.
  15. Nice! Always nice to see someone build something I haven't seen before. Does it have any functions?
  16. Why not just use Lifelites? They fit through a Technic pin, they are prewired with resistors, and they are pretty cheap. I am using them for my new project and am pretty happy with them.
  17. OK, you've made it pretty clear that you don't like the models, but you haven't said a single word about what it is that you don't like about them. This isn't very helpful in conveying your thoughts to the other members. I can't tell if you are trying to be sarcastic, but if so a single sarcastic post would have probably covered it. Is this also supposed to be sarcasm? This thread is all about discussion, speculation, and rumors.
  18. Are you using only one battery?
  19. Even then you'd need a continuous line of sight. If the model moves our of site, even for a moment, you would lose your gear. The train remote command is persistent so you don't need to keep transmitting and using battery. This makes more sense for a gear selection.
  20. Awful is subjective. In any case, these are very early pictures so it is likely changes will occur. Our Moderator has already issued a warning to stop asking for links to illegal pictures. You are asking someone to commit a crime for you. Posting confidential copyrighted images is illegal. Emailing confidential copyrighted images to someone is illegal. Providing a forum for people to illegally share copyrighted information can result in liability (remember Napster?). Sending someone a copy of an illegal image after that someone has asked for it in a public forum makes it very easy to prosecute. PLEASE, please, please don't get yourself, your friends, or EB any unwanted attention from the lawyers.
  21. This is a pretty strong reaction considering you haven't seen anything yet. If the only thing good about this set was longer pneumatics, I would still say it shows that they ARE paying attention to the needs of AFOLs. I actually think it is going to be an awesome set.
  22. I didn't say the suspension was the most accurate, I said the spring rate was the most accurate. There are surely lots of problems with 8466 suspension but those are not because of the springs and are not solved by using harder springs. We've never had an official model with a truly accurate suspension (camber, caster, toe, spring rate).
  23. 6 wheels and skid steer don't go very well together. Skid steer requires (not surprising) skidding. The longer the wheelbase, The more sideways motion there needs to be during skidding. To effectively use skid steer you either need low traction (like tracks) or a very short wheel base (like a Bobcat loader). It would be extremely difficult to get a 6 wheel skidder to work.
  24. Jurgen Krooshoop's latest Kenworth has a transmission that can go directly from any gear to any gear, and each can be commanded absolutely from the remote. It is really cool but takes up way more space than this. This is clever but the need to hold the remote to keep in gear would get annoying over time. This is one case in which return-to-center is not a good feature. The train remote solves it, but also makes it even harder to shift. Hmmm, I'll have to think about this....
