Wow, that's messed up all right. Not sure what happened there. I'll fix it. Looks like that error has been hanging around a long time, I posted that in 2009. Thanks for letting me know. Always nice to know that people are reading closely! 2015 has not been included yet. I'm working on it. Can you give me an example of something that is hidden? I work really hard to make sure this doesn't happen. -

Hmmm, looks like that last module is not used when the main model is built. I have been searching my archives trying to find the box for this (which is where the other parts would be), but so far no luck. -

Update Major update to Technicopedia. I'm happy to announce that 1999 is now uploaded with sets 1257, 1258, 1259, 1260, 8246, 8247, 8251, 8252, 8253, 8255, 8268, 8269, 8444, 8445, 8446, 8448, 8500, 8501, 8502, 8503, 8504, 8505, 8506, 8507, and 8520. That's right, there were 25 sets that year. 8448 was really fun, and I got a new respect for 8446 after writing about it. As always, let me know what you think. -

Possibly, but I don't think that would look good with the orange. -

After months of collecting, I am prepared to show you ....... orange! This is Skyliner's Countach with Efferman's 3D printed wheel covers, converted to orange with a bunch of part substitutions and design changes. Note that I am still waiting for the orange axle connectors from the new Ideas Maze to become available to finish this off. -
Technicopedia is full of them! Ah this brings back memories. I first built this model in 1996. I was recently out of college and working my first professional job and finally had enough money for some toys so I bought this new at the toy store. I built it on the kitchen table in my apartment over the coarse of several days, savoring every moment. At this point I had still never tried Technic. Little did I know what the future would hold! It could be said that this set started it all.

[NMOC] Pagani Huayra
Blakbird replied to darksheep's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not a complaint, just an observation. I like white! -
Very nicely done! I live in one of the primary logging areas of the United States and I see these types of trucks every day. Yours is immediately recognizable and very accurate.

Gears Meshing at 'other' angles

I suppose, like everything, it is a personal preference. I've built dozens of supercars of both types, but I tend to prefer the non-motorized variants. The reason for this is not primarily cost, but rather because you can put more complex functions in the same space without motors, and for me those functions are the main appeal. However, that is not to say I don't enjoy a motorized model. For example, I love the motorized sequential gearbox in Sheepo's Mustang. Real R/C may be faster, but they never have a gearbox like that.

People used M motors for steering all the time before the servo existed. The problem is that they turn way too fast to just connect directly to a steering rack. If you are going to use an M-motor, you should gear it down considerably. This will not only give you more power, it will also make it much easier to control because it won't steer so fast.

I am familiar with Francisco and I thought that looked like his Huayra but I was incredulous that anyone could have reproduced it from the photos. Good job! -

I was wondering the same thing. That thing doesn't have instructions, does it? -
[MOC] ICARUS Supercar
Blakbird replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In my Icarus, the safety fuses kick in sometimes even using the default setup with two batteries and two S-bricks. This happens when turning at full speed. I don't think it would really be usable with only a single battery.- 220 replies

[MOC] Koenigsegg One:1
Blakbird replied to Pvdb's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is an incredible model. Not only does it look good, but the accuracy of the functionality is excellent. The ratcheting sequential gearbox is unique, and the suspension geometry is really interesting.- 229 replies

White is the New Red
Blakbird replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ah yes, I had both of those yellow cars at one point but I had to sacrifice them for parts for other yellow models. After posting red, black, and yellow, it is finally time to get to the original topic of this thread: white! More pictures at my Bricksafe: -

PF connections are designed specifically to prevent you from connecting anything in parallel. You can't stack the battery connectors.- 220 replies

Excellent model! I was sure I had seen this before, but it turns out I was thinking of this similar model:

WeDo 2.0 - The future of PF
Blakbird replied to BusterHaus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think the Education department makes plenty of profit in it own right apart from just the future goal of getting kids hooked. The Education sets are crazy expensive and they are sold primarily to schools. It helps to have a big government budget in which no one looks at the expenses too closely.
