To the heroes' slight surprise, they walk past the barracks they expected they were to go to, and went on to the docks district. People all around were hurrying to get inside before the storm would break loose, some of them gave the recruit and the odd party that was following them a look, but most of them were too busy or just did not care. Eventually. the recruit stopped at an unremarkable building in the docks district, inbetween a brewery and a shipping warehouse, and very close to the actual docks. The other side of the street was waterside, and a ship called "The Armory"was docked there. The heroes recognized the Bonaparte colours on it. The Heroes went in, followed by the recruit. They see a large room, furnished practically, but with high-quality stuff. The walls are lined with important looking papers, reports and maps of Uland, Eubric and the Free Isles. A frowning Captain Patricia is in the room, flanked by two guards in the standard uniform. Also in the room, the Antiquarian some of the Heroes already met, and the others recognize from the stories the others told, and a man in blue sailor's clothes that is a bit familiar to the heroes, but they can't quite place. The Captain is the first to speak: "Heroes. You are late." -

With the battle over, the party finally has the oppertunity to take a look around. They are standing in a simple, almost square room. The floor consists of simple planks, and the walls are the same as outside. Tiny windows are near the roof. Next to the door they came in, there is another door, closed. The Metasimians are unconcious, none of them are dead, as far as they can see. Ellaria pulls out her Magic Compass, but by lack of specification of what it is they are looking for and possibly other interference of what it is she is really looking for, the compass keeps spinning without giving a direction. Only now the heroes notice the warehouse is filled with crates barrels of fish and other seafood, some of them open and spreading a very penetrating smell. Also bottles of unknown liquids are placed along the walls. Suddenly, the door to the outside opens, the Heroes start pulling their weapons out, only to see it is Recruit Jenkins. "Uhh.. Heroes... are you alright?" Again, the door opens, only this time it is the other door. An odd figure comes out, and speaks: "What are you doin' in my warehouse?" -
Right. Fighting this decision is only going to cause more annoyance than has already occured. So the Book of A Thousand Creatures is going to be changed into an Artifact (Accessory, every attack roll has a 1/6 chance to spawn a spider minion), and a WP:13 Melee weapon suitable for mages and clerics, which is a Staff. I don't like this decision, but there you go.

After thinking about it for a little bit, I think the best solution is just to allow passives on weapons like this.

I think the Book should just stay, you can't compare the two. You are talking about nerfing an underpowered, but still fun, item. I think it is the best item I have created and would be a shame if it would not be used anymore because of this, I fear that will happen because of it. So frankly, I am not satisfied with that solution. Still, I don't think there is anything else to do, even though I really don't see the problem with the item.

Well. I did not know passives on weapons weren't allowed. There has been quite a bit of discussion about this item back when it was first created, and Sandy eventually allowed it. If it needs changing, I'll give Nyx the choice to either turn it into an Accessory or to have it only work on melee hits, but I would be kind of annoyed if that is the case, so I expect it'll be fine, considering the talk there has been about it in the past.

Magic. Do I really have to explain? I'm tired. Right. So technically it makes sense from a RP perspective, but whatever. It is a 1 in 6 chance on every roll, that's what it says on the item. Whereas other items have no clarification, in which you can assume "does blahblah, ON HIT." Makes sense? Yes, no? If needed, I can clarify by adding: Works with channelling spells through it or whatever...

The heroes are enraged after seeing Skrall fall, Boomingham continues his streak of strong hits, healed for a lot of health by Rufindel, and stabs right through Scim's defenses. With that strike, the supposed leader of this group of Metasimians falls. The Halberdeer screams something incoherent and runs at Nyx, only to be hit in the face with a book, glowing with a dark, purple energy from Nyx's charged spell. It causes him to get knock out before he hits the floor. The last metasimian does not go down without a fight, and manages to hit Ellaria on the head, knocking her out too, before Atramor can stab him the belly. For a second, it looks like he can still stand and fight, but he then collapes from the poison. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! Boomingham and Rufindel gain half a level, Nyx and Atramor gain a third of a level. Skrall and Ellaria do not gain experience, since they were knocked out, they get up with one health. Rufindel, Nyx and Skrall gain some health from their natural hardiness.
