  1. Nancy is his middle name - Who would have guessed? From someone that left no trace.
  2. Guts takes the Cleaver with him, you never know when you'll need one, and pours what's left in the keg in the bottle. He then returns to the sitting room. "Place seems to be mostly clear, except for the basement which we haven't checked yet. What was this place before it became the Guild's safehouse? And what's with these statues?"
  3. It's a very relevant video.
  4. If anyone is offended, I apologize, not my intention. If I present something as the one and only truth, I am not (100%) serious. The second thing you are quoting was clearly a joke, there is no way to play a game wrong. If you enjoy it, that's great. Often it's even more fun to not play certain games as intended, and I do enjoy breaking games, if you will. I am not bashing on anyone that enjoys the fields or anything, I'm just saying, it's not for me, and I wouldn't like to be obligated to do them in order to keep up with others, but for the rest, it's all good. No bad blood anywhere, everything's fine, with me, anyways?
  5. I guess, it's good that it's there for people to enjoy, and it is being enjoyed, I'm not saying it should be removed or anything! Remember that this started at my thoughts as how the Amulet thing could potentially segregate the playerbase, and then formed into my thoughts on the slowness of levelling (without it). Pokemon I might give to you. Although for me that game was about collecting the pokemans and making cool teams, rather than the fighting. That is a good one actually, didn't think of that. Ni No Kuni I didn't play, but from what I've heard and seen, it was way more about the story and the world and the characters than anything else.
  6. Then they are playing the game wrong.
  7. It's a great website....?
  8. Every Shooter and their mother have level-up systems these days. I am not, I was just saying that's what I expected it to be, on which I was called out on being jealous. I would love to hear an RPG with it's combat being the strongest point. If I know anything about the game, I will tell you why you are wrong.
  9. My real second name is "Squasher of Dreams". Better than Nancy, uh.
  10. Not really, I am above wordly goods. I made a pact never to complain about loot ever again. To me, it just sounds cooler to have a place: Get as far as you can, earn special rewards. Rather than: Here's something you can do for the same rewards and more without story or interaction. Basically what I'm saying is the Fields is catering too much to Brickdoctor.
  11. Trash Mobs suck. They are called trash mobs for one reason, they are trash. they are an annoying game mechanic that I hope will not find it's way into Heroica. A better solution would be to frequently and often hand out XP for non-combat accomplishments, but this would be way harder to judge and can lead way quicker to discrepancies, and will lead to people doing things for the sake of doing things. This is off topic, but Skyrim's combat is dreadful, you can not convince me that it is worth anything. Fallout's is better, but only due to it's targetting-whatyoumacallit. Borderlands is a shooter.
  12. Basically. Heroica is a game. The fields is what combat is in videogames. 9 out of ten times, if you just played an RPG for it's combat, it would suck. This is true for every MMORPG ever made and 9 out of 10 Single player RPGs, and a ton of other game genres as well. (Bioshock Infinite, coughcough)
  13. Guts inspects the window, the Cleaver, the glasses, bottle and keg, the cauldron, and he checks up the chimney for anything out of order.
  14. Guts is currently Level 24 and a third. That is (9+ 18 + 13 = 40 experience gains (is my math correct?) Guts was rewarded with a Level once, at level 10, and was knocked out at the end of a battle once that I can remember, so he has been in roughly 39 battles. I started playing in October 2011, so let's say 1.5 years. This math says that I, a fairly active player, that has practically constantly in quests with 8 quests under the belt, the highest number (shared, of course), do roughly 26 battles a year. to reach level 50 I think you need 135 battles if you just do battles? That's a little over 5 years, by that logic. Of course playing the game for years to come is not a bad prospect, If I had not been having fun, I wouldn't be here. Yet, this is an RPG. An important aspect of any rpg is progression. Key factor. If that stops happening, it will be less fun. It shouldn't turn into a drag. Levelling up is fun, but I don't like the idea of taking months over a single level, hell, I think the speed of levelling now is slow. Remember level 50 is an arbitrary cap with responding reward, the game doesn't have to end there. I actually at first thought the Fields would be a loot-less place, would it much better that way in my opinion.
  15. "There was another one of those statues in there. I moved it, to see if anything would happen. It broke. Perhaps you can find something I did not, it might be a good way to ask for the purpose of those things. Magic can do things to statues, I've found."
  16. Definitely being a negative Nancy here (Nancy is my middle name!), but yeah, I am never going to go into the Fields, I play for roleplaying, story and all that good stuff, but creating massive gaps in the playerbase would suck. Disclaimer, Nancy is not actually my middle name.
  17. I mean, they are kind of a stupid item. I think making the decision to keep needing more xp between levels (what I mean is 1/4 from lvl 30 onwards and 1/5 per battle from lvl 40 onwards) is just purely stretching the game, and doesn't really serve a good purpose. It's going to get very slow to level up. Most of the time, a quest will only get you one level at most. Not great. With the medal, it will become way more doable, to the point where it becomes an actual neccesity if you want to reach some goals (lvl 50 basically, lvl 40 doesn't really have a goal, for some reason, the second character would be a good mark 'reward' here, I feel) before we all grow grey beards, require walking sticks and retire.
  18. More like, whoever has them is never getting into a quest with other people than that have them.
  19. In character, it would probably be the wisest thing to do, to at least have an absence. A lot of Heroes don't trust him, both the ones from 53 and others that heard what he did will treat him with caution. Arthur has to do something to make his Heel Face happen, and going right back into the fray may not be the best way to do that. Or: Plot twist, Arthur is gone, get's a grudge, bam, supervillain. Arthur would be basically Wren 2.0. Ex-Heroica and all that.
  20. Guts goes back and into the other door.
  21. Guts checks under the bed, in the bucket, and in the drawers, then "accidentally"l knocks over the statue.
  22. "Perhaps you can use it to bar a doorway, if needed." Guts opens the left door.
  23. Sure.... But at the same time, there's the gameplay aspect to consider that the more enemies, the more loot. So it may be more beneficial to keep them up, for now.
  24. It's so bad, you know those statues are going to come alive and try to kill us, but I can't think of a way to justify smashing them to pieces in-character.
  25. "What's with these statues? They remind me of temples." Guts takes a short look at the hanging weapon, then investigates the black statue for anything unusual, using his magnifying glass.
