  1. These look great--I was wondering how they would handle scale with the Toy Story characters, and I really like their solution for it. I knew I'd want them, I didn't know I'd LOVE them. More money for LEGO from my house. Darn it.
  2. I'd love to see more minifig scaled animals, but it seems like that would make the smaller characters (Timon, etc.) too small. But if it meant minifig-scaled lions, hyenas, etc. that would be all kinds of awesome.
  3. Yeah, it's a shame that LEGO closed the license when it did...they did it just as The Dark Knight was hitting its stride, there's a new Batman cartoon on Cartoon Network for the kids, and, most egregiously, right when the Batman LEGO videogame was coming out. That makes zero marketing sense to me. Roll out this great game, and then kids can't find any of the toys that would have complemented it? That seems like a big misstep on LEGO's part. Blessed be their names. I'm glad I have my Batman LEGO sets--my sons and I play with them all the time. But I've had a lot of other parents of kids the same age ask if I know where they can find them, and I have to tell them eBay or Bricklink...which means someone somewhere is scoring lots of $$$, and it's not LEGO. Which is a shame.
  4. Great review Dev! I can't wait to see this in stores...haven't found it yet. I'll be buying at least two of them so I'll have a pair of tauntauns; I can see myself buying a few more so I can have more Snowtroopers. Looks like a great little set at a fair price--exactly what I wanted this set to be. Now I want a Wampa!
  5. Toy Story is good news. Cars is good news for my boys, although I've actually been impressed with what evil MegaBloks has done with their Cars line. Hopefully LEGO can give us the same depth of character choice that MB did. Prince of Persia doesn't excite me much...I'd rather see them do some classics.
  6. I love the new Indy face, but my favoritey-favorite is the tiny little minifig frowny face in the middle of Mola Ram's headdress. That's beautiful.
  7. This makes me wish I didn't like Indy as much as I do. I know I'll end up with multiples of Cairo to get more thugs, but I wish I could afford to get multiples of Venice Chase and Temple of Doom too. Some great sets from great movie moments, with new figures and good vehicles...this line is all-win for me.
  8. Free always sounds good to me...I'm in.
  9. That is a beautiful carriage--hope you get those skellie horses soon. I like the idea of a Thestral Carriage set too...too bad Harry Potter got the deep-six.
  10. I'm hoping that LEGO will eventually make some kind of Ancient Greece/Ancient Rome theme, and then we can have togas and laurel crowns and everything else we need to make a Maxie. He's never been my favorite, but he'd certainly make an interesting addition to the line.
  11. GEEKS? GEEKS? Yeah, totally.
  12. Sweet story...darn cheap wigs! I like the Ventriloquist--especially using Dr. Henry Jones for Wesker. I may have to steal that idea. Can't wait to see your Firefly.
  13. I have two sons, ages 4 and 6. We have a lot of fun playing with LEGO sets together. I let them play with whatever they want to, but if it's something that I've built myself, the rule is kinda that they ask me first, and usually I'll play with it with them if we want it to stay intact. There was a Batcave Disaster in 2007 that we still haven't recovered from. But really, LEGO started out for kids, and I want my kids to love LEGO, so why not let them play with it? It's interesting to watch their interest and their building skill grow--I want to encourage that.
  14. With the popularity of The Dark Knight, the popularity of the LEGO video game, and the new cartoon debuting on Cartoon Network in a few weeks, they'd be crazy not to continue the line. I hope they're not crazy. :)
  15. I like your customs--and your design philosophy. I have a 4 and a 6 six year old son, and they both love playing with the Batman LEGO sets, but with something like the Batwing, they really can't unless they're VERRRRY CAREFUL. And that takes some of the fun out of it. So building something that still looks cool, has play value, but is a little more durable makes a lot of sense. Some great sets--can't wait to see the Mr. Freeze stuff. He's our current favorite. :) Great stuff!
  16. ...there's also a new Batman cartoon debuting in a few weeks on Cartoon Network, "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," that has Batman teaming up with people from all over the DC Universe. http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/batmanbb/index.html It'll be interesting to see if this has any influence on the LEGO line. Probably not, I'm guessing, but hopefully a new cartoon series will maybe spark a few more toy buyers and keep the line going.
  17. There he is. Nice. I love Professor Sprout too...after you get her new dress, you'll have to post an updated picture. Great stuff--and I love seeing your castle all assembled. Mine met with the Disaster of 2006, and I haven't reassembled it all since. Maybe it's time to do that...
  18. I love it Sandy--I have about half of the HP sets, and made a lot of customs myself. I love your use of Anakin's hair for Cedric Diggory--very nice look. Did you add a Professor Flitwick to the Hogwarts faculty? He's one of my li'l favorites. :)
  19. As I recall, the Shanghai Chase Indy has his white tuxedo jacket and pants, but still has his brown fedora. So yeah, it'll be a new torso print! It's about time. :)
  20. Good thinking! ...that also has me thinking that you should add to your list of "rereleased and modified villains." We need a more dapper Pengy to run the joint!
  21. This isn't necessarily the right place to say all this, but it's probably the best place to say it. Yesterday my sons (ages 4 and 6) and I spent about seven hours playing Batman with all of my different Batman LEGO sets. It was great. I was mostly the villains, and they were mostly the heroes, and they got a few extra heroes from my customs, like Green Arrow, Black Canary, Zatanna and Huntress. In any case, we built a big ol' Gotham City, and I built a new Mr. Freeze armored truck (it's terrible), my older boy built a Riddler spaceship of some kind, and my younger boy kept building odd things for Robin. It just reinforced to me what great toys these are--very well-designed, with play in mind. They all held up really well, even to rough play--right up until my 6 year old got a little too into the storyline, was rushing someone off to Arkham, and somersaulted onto the Joker Helicopter. That was a huge mess. At least it gives me something "new" to build again!
  22. I haven't even heard the rumor--what are they looking at? It's way past time we got more Ewoks...
  23. Yeah--I just went and found it after I read your post. THAT hairpiece is perfect for either Hoth or Endor Leia. Hopefully that's what the designer meant. Sweet stuff--LEGO's loving the ladies here lately. I like it!
  24. That is a nice Willie (heh)...I'm glad they added some gold details to her dress, and I like the tiara effect on the hairpiece. I'm wondering which Leia they'd think that look would be appropriate for...
  25. LOL...well then I'll keep my villains under lock and key myself. Great find, though!
