  1. I would sulpt the stairs into the rock face - build outwards from those BURPs, and make it look like the stairs are carved into the rock. A very good start, and looking forward to seeing the final thing! BTW, the name is from Narnia, right?
  2. A new container as a pot/small barrel/keg/basket. The same width as a 2x2 barrel, except shorter, with a more flared top, but still with the technic axle hole in the bottom and the ability to put a 2x2 round plate/tile on as a lid (instead of going over the lip, the plate fits inside the lip). More colours - dark tan, tan e.t.c. The pattern on the side could be similar to the current barrel, but so that when in tan it looks like a wicker basket, but when in brown it looks like wood - a kind of cross-hatch. Like a small one of these - For a globe, I would like to see it similar to Sandy's helmet - the two halves in blue, with appropriate green and white printing, which can slot together and be attached to a globe base (e.g. a 2x2 dish with 2 1x1 round studs on it to hold the helmet halves onto the base).
  3. Mirror-wise, the new mirror stickers from the Carousel may come in handy, although that's an expensive way. Alternatively, the back of the Mirror of Erised is reflective, such as in Corran's vig - Brand new transparant panels are also quite reflective. But for your situation? I'd go with mirror card/squares, as it's easier and cheaper , if you're not a purist For the chandeliers, transparent 1x1 round bricks and plates, antennae and jewels provide the best solution, such as here (pic is link) BTW, this fits best in this forum - although the time periods overlap a bit, the subject matter fits better here.
  4. Not being a ship builder (yet), this will be an invaluable resource for when the time comes for my first non-steampunk ship! Good to see that pearl gold trim we talked about
  5. They're much cheaper - a matter of cents each. Of course, I'm not sure what the market is like for knives in Holland
  6. It looks sadly permanent. The whole house is built onto a scaffold structure with wooden boards across it to form a level platform, and the bricks are built over and around the beams. The bottom floor, middle floor/bottom ceiling and top ceiling/base of roof are all wooden boards as well. Rather disappointing, to be honest. However, the man also said that there would be a working Lego TV and computer, as well as a Lego cat...
  7. I popped in on my way down to the South Coast on Saturday... I realised no-one has posted any "proper" photos of it, so here's some I took - Lots of boxes of bricks outside the hall where people were building them... ...and the people building the bricks... they were doing the top roofing slopes. The house is on top of a smallish hill, surrounded by vines The wooden framework was disappointing. It supports all the walls and all 3 floors/ceilings, which are just wooden boards over the framework, no tiles or anything. Loads of crates of bricks for building with. The builders cracked each one open to slot it over the upright wooden beams, before putting it back together again with rubber mallets or hands. The windows facing the main path - lots of 1x6x5 trans panels (Saturday). This side has lots of little windows to retain structural integrity The "First Brick". Although there's a layer of white ones underneath... Shoddy brickwork... Camera crew at work Sliding the windows into place (Saturday) We dropped in on the way back, on Tuesday, as they said they'd have completed it by Monday evening. No such luck - they said it would take another week, at least. They got rid of the original windows. The man said the architect wanted to put in a "stained glass" window instead of the trans panelled one. These bricks with trans bricks mixed in, perhaps? They were having some trouble with the weight of the door. The hinges are just 1x16 technic beams embedded into the door and frame, so that the studs on the end stack, so they can rotate around this hinge. However, the weight of the door was causing it to crack, so they put in an old technic wheel in the bottom right corner to support it and stop it blowing shut. Who needs a full size house anyway? As people were donating boxes of unsorted Lego, there was a lot of stuff they couldn't use. I tried to purloin a box of the stuff, but they said no, they were running out of Lego. It contained 6 Classic Space crater baseplates
  8. Wowza! I am just starting to embark on a similar Western MOC, and this is a great source of inspiration! The rock scaping is top-notch, and the wooden building really well integrated. The vegetation adds a lot to this MOC, rather than cluttering it up which can sometimes be the case. I would only recommend using trans cheese slopes instead of tiles for the waves, tp give it a more natural look.
  9. I'm not particularly good with colours, being colour-blind, and I have no idea about what colours clash and which are complimentary. However, the proposed colour scheme worked on the Black Seas Barracuda, so it's sure to work on any ship!
  10. Thanks everyone I say to myself, Hey, I'm gonna build me a jeep. Then, Hey, I'm gonna build me a scary dino. And voila, such praise! I thought about stickering bits of the car, but couldn't do it any way I liked. Lime green and orange are way out of my building zone (read: couples of orange plates and 2 lime green studs ), so no-can-do unfortunately. I'd have liked to do some snazzier colours, though. You can get non-production red Adventurers hats, but mine is just a brown one, and I fiddled with the colours, not realising that it had turned red - I'm colour blind It only came about because I have no bley jumpers! Must.. Resist... Hugging... Striker... As you wish! So, left to right, top to bottom, that's Dr Jones, Malcolm aka El Bronco aka El Nombre aka Zorro, Kate, Dexter aka Fatman aka Dennis and Timmy. I love mixing up names and characters Just experimenting That's the good thing about these "inspired by..." MOCs - you get a concept to work with, but don't have to be at all accurate! The dino is only so big because I ran out of viking horns (also hence the foot claws - they would have been horns, not hands ideally).
  11. Old news, sorry Discussion can continue here, if necessary
  12. The T-Rex should have had some spikes on its back, and there should have been more guns... Oh, and also for comparison, my original Legosaurus Brix back from 2007...
  13. New member Ezechielle bursts onto the scene with his MOC entitled After the civil war... Click to see more!
  14. I must say that the white sails look much more realistic and less cartoonish than on the BB, although they give it a very neutral colour scheme - some pearl gold trim in other places besides the cabin would be an improvement, in my opinion. Besides that, I love the rest of what you've done to the ship, and your use of the Armada Flagship sliding cannons in a Skull's Eye Schooner-type system works much better - there aren't nearly as many ugly holes in the floor. I must also congratulate you on your use of 2 1x2x2 panels to make the cannon port sides - this is something I have struggled with when building ships, so thank you for the solution! Good work all round, and keep it up!
  15. That rhino sure looks good! Another of the animals that Lego should have released as part of the theme. And the interview is very enlightening too! Good job
  16. I had a bit of an experiment, but couldn't find anything which wedged into the open end of the Adventurers dome piece inconspicuously (a 1x1 brick fits horizontally, but is too bulky). The best solution I could find was this - The stud on top, the yellow head and the steering wheel on the bottom are not required for the structure. The bike tyre goes through all 4 notches in the base of the dome, and simply fits snugly over the 1x1 plate. This is all hidden within the 3x3 dome. Apologies for the colours - imagine the 2x2 and 3x3 dishes in yellow e.t.c, and the yellow head in trans yellow or orange.
  17. There is the Accessory MOC index, which has a few examples, although these are mostly already posted, or similar. The yellow octagonal cone could possibly be replaced by one of the 2x2 Adventurers dome pieces, with a thin tyre and technic half bushing to allow connection to the technic pulley or 3x3 dish via a short length of flex tubing... *runs off to build it himself and will return with photos!*
  18. It could work as a short series of 10 or so 20-minute animations, even on real TV, in kids' prime-time at 8am or 3pm. I wouldn't be surprised to see some similar promo animations to the SP3 ones on Lego.com at some point.
  19. How wide are the wheel clips? If they fit a bar in them, you could probably build some new wheels. I doubt you're going to find any loose fabuland scooter wheels anywhere - Bricklink doesn't have them...
  20. I'm running out of grey - I'm running out of grey! It finally happened - happened It finally happened - ooh oh It finally happened - I'm out of grey! Oh dear
  21. The other pictures on the Japanese Amazon are simply edited out of the box (i.e. someone somewhere has a bigger picture of it...). The pirate riding the shark, however, is not... could this be a glimpse of a new set? There have, however, been discrepencies between the packaging and contents of Advent Calendars before - many catalogues showed the box of the Castle one next to a picture of a couple of dwarves (with non-winged helmets), which were not in the calendar, nor were they on the box...
  22. Well, Aqua Raiders also has a shipwreck in a set, which has the skeleton of a king in it. It is possible that with erosion e.t.c, the island that Shipwreck HIdeout is on becomes submerged, and the wreck falls apart a bit more... This discussion could probably be opened up further, with the addition of 6281 Pirate's Perilous Pitfall - and 6296 Shipwreck Island - They seem rather similar in type... perhaps neighbouring islands where a fleet of small ships ran aground? Now, theoretically that should be either Cap'n SlyOwl, Benk or Mister oo7...
  23. ...unless there is already one on Bricklink, here... Classic-Pirates.com will also have an index in due time
