  1. The Ship MOC Index is always a good place for ideas. There is also a sorted version - page 2 has some of the larger ships on it.
  2. Really nice ship, I especially love the front. Are you planning to give it a full set of sails? I'll echo your comment about Lego being one of the few media where people are easy to incorporate. I've done my share of dioramas and ships in non-Lego media, and without people they feel empty. Liverpool on!
  3. Attention! On recount, it turns out Erdy won! Congrats to him, shame on me
  4. The PTVII Staff Winners are in... Find out who won here!
  5. Recount! And the winners have changed! 1st Erdy 2nd SlyOwl 3rd Svelte 3 votes in it at the top... Thanks everyone! Til next year
  6. Welcome to Eurobricks! I updated your post with the full-size photos, and deeplinked them. You seemed to have used the thumbnails from Flickr - you need to remove the _s from before the .jpg to get them full size If you need any help with deeplinking/posting pics etc, there's a range of tutorials here. I like what you've got going here, building up the Armada Flagship hull in bricks. The macaroni bricks on the focastle is also neat. I'd recommend you go with rigging from the side of the ship up to the mast, rather than from the deck itself - rotate it 90'. Although that type of rigging did exist, it was much more common to attach the ratlines to the edge of the ship.
  7. Cheers I used the ginger face to match the hair. Originally I went with a Vader face, to get the bloated rottn look Bootstrap has, but then I figured he was only drowned for a few seconds at this stage. But yes, movie-inaccurate (I also highly doubt Jones was wandering around the the seabed at the time...) Thanks mate!
  8. Nope, just a good condition eBay lot. In real life, they're slightly yellowed, and one has some small black paint spatters that I shopped out.
  9. Thanks guys Cheers They all clip onto the 1x1 tile, pretty snugly. Takes quite a bit of rearranging to get it right, though. Supposed to be a splinter, but I understand it doesn't quite fit the chunky wreck as well. I only noticed it when doing research on Jones myself... I'd have preferred a normal hand, though... Jammed between the slightly angled hat and top of the tentacle assembly. There's a 1x1 tap piece in there between the tile and hat, holding the head together.
  10. For those wanting image editing tutorials, there are some good ones in the Reviewer's Academy, and I did a read-only one here.
  11. Hmm... my one seems to fit the description, as far as I can see. All the same, I'll PM Maydayartist to see if it's what he had in mind.
  12. *Counting now* There's something nice in store for Erdy if he wins
  13. That's exactly the same photo, so no difference can be seen I would assume they're the same, although it's possible that the re-release only had printing on one side of the sails, like the later pirate ships. Just guessing though.
  14. No problem; we only had the original version of the Benbow, but you've posted the updated one
  15. It's been around for a while now, but The Brick Time now shares his outstanding MOC, Grimmhavn, with us on EB - See more here Also, the updated version of The Admiral Benbow Inn - See more here
  16. Welcome to Eurobricks! - and the frontpage! Your MOCs have already been featured on EB, tribute to your outstanding building skills! We discussied Grimmhavn here and the Admiral Benbow Inn here. I would normally merge this with the other thread, but as you're the original creator, I'll let it stand as it is. Members under 10 posts can't send PMs, but I've enabled them for you
  17. Mostly pretty obvious construction, pics are links where applicable. By me - By me - the key part is a angled droid arm between the two clips for the head and in the bottom of the travis brick in the centre of the body. By Micahberger - inspired my one above By Micahberger, version 2 By Jens/Schlimps, frequently plagiarised by me, but not actually mine Edit: beaten to it!
  18. Thanks everyone *whistles nonchalently* I just like showing off my tan fedora, even if it's not that rare Wedgitude! Just pressing and twisting to the right angles keeps them together relatively firmly. Thanks! I had originally planned to put in a treasure cave or torture chamber, but I ran out of time and bother Dunno Maybe to signal to their own ships? I assumed this was in a cove somewhere, so they wouldn't be too bothered about noise or light...
  19. I think you've pulled this off really well. I love the stove, the washing upstairs, and the SOS! The whole atmosphere is great - I thought you'd go for the gloomy victorian orphanage style, but you've gone for the macabre orphans-escaping type, which is even better! Father McBrickbeard is legendary. Now, an Orphanage Edge wouldn't have gone amiss, like a chain or handcuffs in the corner downstairs...
  20. Indeed, judging by the Bricklink inventory, they added in 2 2x4 bricks, but didn't remove the 4 corner bricks! Time to submit a Bricklink Inventory Change Request (actual part to spare part)... and done!
  21. Step 19, base of the mast I used the Classic-Pirates Instructions Scan to find it - all the pics are on one page, so it was faster than waiting for each Peeron or Brickfactory page to load individually.
  22. Welcome to Eurobricks! For extra inspiration or techniques, it's also worth checking out the Ships MOC Index (or the sorted by type version), the Pirate Accessories Index which has some ship-building techniques in it, the Sail Library, String Rigging tutorial and the Sail Making Tutorial. Also, the Advanced Building Techniques Index is worth a visit for more general stuff. There are numerous good ship builders out there, who are willing to divulge their expertise on building custom ships. Just ask, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help, or point you in the right direction. If you want to design first, and then order parts, MLCAD is a great program for designing stuff without owning any bricks. It is then possible to convert the file into a list of parts on Bricklink, whence you can buy them. It takes a bit of getting used to, though. BTW, one topic is best
  23. Thanks again everyone! Thanks If you can find it any earlier than Nov. 07, let me know I first produced the technique in this MOC, and, as far as I'm aware, that was the first use of it.
