  1. I like these sets and I plan on picking both of them up, mainly because I always wanted a Lego drum set, but I'm not a fan of the guitar. I'll just get one of the Brick Forge ones, no biggie, while the monster set I don't see anything glaringly bad, except the photo looks a little cheap. Maybe it's the quality of the photograph? Anyway, I like how they're technically the same minifigs, but with different color schemes (The glam rock girl's in black and silver than blue and pink, the zombie has a different colored suit, etc.)
  2. Some of these might be a bit old, but I figured I could put them in this thread collectively. The unfortunate truth about fishing But when you change location if there's no bites, be careful what you fish for.
  3. Really, I recommend getting The Zombies first. It's a better deal in terms of price-per-piece, you get two exclusive minifigs and an exclusive moonstone, and the main play feature is awesome, though the cauldron feature doesn't work as well as I'd hope. Still, the other set is nothing to sneeze at, but since you already have the two Monster Fighters in this set in the ones you got (Rathbone and Steele), I'd go with The Zombies. If you really want the mad scientist and the monster, Bricklink can be a good source, or get the set later on and either use the other Rathbone/Steele for minifig customization or sell them. If you plan on buying these at Target, see if they have The Zombies first, but if not, go for Frankenstein.
  4. Great job! I love the little play feature you made there, plus the details like the schools of fish hanging around. I guess Steph's convertible has some Bond-like elements at play, huh? I love it.
  5. Thanks for the add, and welcome to Eurobricks, man!

  6. The Ghost Train is a great set. I am in love with the train itself, especially the locomotive, and the plane's not too shabby (I prefer the Pharaoh's Quest bi-plane personally) but it's a bit pricey for me now. If I was to get any big set, it'd be the castle, just because it's a bit more iconic (The classic, Gothic, old castle from the old 30s horror films) and has a lot more nooks and crannies to discover and play with.
  7. Agreed. Plus I have too many Lego vehicles and not near enough places/locations, but I'm a completionist so chances are I'll pick that up (Along with the train) during a sale. I got pretty much almost half of the regular sets already.
  8. Thanks! I was going for that George Romero Night of the Living Dead feel (I just recently saw that movie again). As for the other one, I'm surprised no one had this idea before, a good ol' boy fishing in the bayou and all of a sudden the Creature from the Black Lagoon is at the end of his rod. Great pic here as well. I love how Renfield's (Zombie Driver) arm is still in his grave while the bride is split in two. I love it.
  9. Both the AFOL and guitarist side of me are screaming with delight over this. Excellent work! Sure the sides of the body might be a little clunky, but all the same, great job!
  10. Funny you should say that, The Mummy and Frankenstein are the next two sets I'm looking at getting (Both will complete my Monster Fighters crew since all I have now are Frank Rock, Major Steele, and Jack McHammer. I'm missing Rathbone and Ann Lee) I might skip out on the hearse, though, since I feel the Castle is a more worthy purchase to get Lord Vampyre, but if you're more budget conscious, it'll work, plus you can find a spare cape on eBay or I think Bricklink. The reason I'm skipping out is because I have too many Lego vehicles.
  11. Go for The Zombies, since that set is a bit more sought after and it's an amazing set. The other set is good too, so if you can't find The Zombies, use it as a back-up.
  12. I figure I'd share a few pics I did since I have a dedicated space to take Lego pics and I've been dying to show off these Monster Fighter sets.
  13. Way ahead of you, man, it's a great set, shoe-in for one of the best medium sized sets of 2012.
  14. You can never have too many zombies, and these guys don't all have to be drivers, one could be the doorman to, say, that haunted house set coming soon. Also, to those who're wondering, yes I got The Zombies and Swamp Creature at Target last Wednesday. Lucky too, that was the last Zombies they had on the shelf. Great set, highly recommend it, even if you're not a Monster Fighters guy like me.
  15. Well for me, I'd start out with whatever classic monster movie character I like best, but I highly recommend the Werewolf if you're fond of flinging our fanged friend out of the treetops. The Zombies looks like an awesome set as well, plus you get three of them, but it's an exclusive, so I'd pick that one up for sure if I were you and if you can find it. If you're on a budget, go for the Mummy and Swamp Creature sets, as you'll get two Monster Fighters, two monsters, two moonstones, and some great pieces (Like that awesome glow in the dark skeleton horse) Really none of these sets are a complete miss, just a few flaws here and there.
  16. Interesting looking set, but honestly, I don't know if I have a use for it. I mean it's refreshing that TLG is trying something new instead of the tried and true Police/Firemen mainstays, but these sets seem overpriced for what you get, maybe because of the specialty bricks used? I mean the concept is there, but the execution could have been much better.
  17. So far I only have the Werewolf, which is an ace set, but my next few sets will be the Zombies and the two smaller sets, though the Hearse looks promising (Implying I don't already have enough Lego vehicles. ) All of this said, I'm trying to get all of the sets by year's end. I have plenty of time got make this a reality, but I see some have beaten me to the punch.
  18. Thanks for the add, man.

  19. I too voted for the actor. That Elizabethan collar could have some good uses, and you can never have too many skulls. Hairpiece is not my favorite though. The diver and Bavarian are awesome too, if for the former's helmet and the latter's pretzel (Which IIRC can be seen in the Bag End set). I don't mind the rehashes as long as they bring something new to the table and I feel these guys did. The bats can act as new recruits for Lord Vampyre, for instance.
  20. Whenever I get the Monster Fighters Zombie set I plan on using the bride from that set mixed with the CMF 7 bride's hairpiece/veil to make the moc. I just need to think of what to use for the clutter in the attic. I have some older furniture pieces built (Gramophone, lamp, chests, etc), it's just a matter of arrangement and space. Organized chaos if I may. As for the ballroom, that'd be a monumental task. I'd at least try to make the organist and his organ.
  21. If I had the cash, I'd happily get both, but The Zombies will probably be my pick, but Frankenstein will be second in case my Target is out of the first. Plus I can get the smaller sets as well. If I could I'd just get the minifigs on eBay but you know the scalpers and such. Thanks again, guys, really appreciate the help.
  22. I could definitely see a mythological theme working, or a Roman/Greek theme (Look at how many figs we got from Greek/Roman myths or warriors like the Minotaur, Neptune, the spartan, Roman legionnaire, etc.) I always thought Lego should do some kind of rock band/music theme, like let the smaller sets be like a tour bus or small gig but let the big set be a big concert set of some kind, like something out of Guitar Hero. As such different kinds of musicians could be made (Guitarists, rappers, singers, etc)
  23. Very nice. Now if someone could do the bride scene or the ballroom it'd be awesome. Maybe I can try my hand at the former, not to steal your thunder. Nice work!
  24. Sounds great, but I'll take this with a grain of salt until we get some official info. Speaking of which, I can't decide getting The Zombies or the Frankenstein set. Which one would be worth it more? I'm thinking Zombies since that's a Target exclusive, but I've always been a Frankenstein fan.
  25. Looks like a good little set. I'm a sucker for lab scenes (Though I agree the helicarrier was kind of lacking) and I could use that Spider Man for some shots and such.
