  1. I know I said I'm waiting until Lego's site or Walmart get these sets in, but I might have get that Swamp Man set sooner than the others, since the mark up isn't that bad (11 cents per piece isn't going to kill me) and I'm dying to get that Swamp Man figure. The others, though, yeah I'll wait until the other stores get them, especially the castle. However looking at some reviews out there, it's kind of making the temptation greater. The will is strong but the body and wallet are weak.
  2. Nice ones as always, Oky! That Loki/Bruce one had me giggling like a school girl.
  3. Sweet that TRU has them, but I'll wait until Walmart or Lego themselves get them, as I'm not a fan of TRU's mark-up.
  4. J.V.D. that was pretty good. Oky, I think it's safe to say great minds think alike in this thread, eh?
  5. Returning the favor, friend. Hey.

  6. As much as I liked those themes' sets, I agree. The storylines felt like cliche action movies with little plot and maximum action. I think that was the point for AC, as it was more or less a pastiche of 50s B-movies/sci-fi flicks, complete with flying saucers and walking tripods (But with a militaristic force against them) and with Dino there is no plot from what I can tell. That one seems like an action movie pastiche in every sense, but that doesn't mean neither of these series were horrible. they had great sets and their lack of a storyline invites the children to make up their own: Why are the aliens invading? Why are there dinosaurs terrorizing the city? It's up to the kids' imagination. Now with Monster Fighters, there's no doubt in my mind everything about this series will be amazing at best, decent at worst. The minifigs are incredibly detailed, the monsters are a perfect mix of creepy and cartoony (In Lord Vampyre's case), some creepier than others (The zombie bride comes to mind). The storyline, though done before in other contexts (Name another character who tried making the night last forever. You know, it'd be a nightmare to make the moon the new sun), is still a storyline nonetheless. The moonstone idea is the equivalent to the Atlantis treasure keys in a way, complete with the flagship set containing all the moonstones (Sans the zombie one, I assume), but still a unique piece. Plus the classic horror motif is the icing on the cake. Yeah, I guess you can tell I'm psyched for this.
  7. This is one set that I actually wouldn't mind paying the TRU mark-up, because of all the play features it kind of makes up for the crappy price-per-piece ratio resulting from the mark-up. Looks like a very fun little set to play with and a good one to display thanks to its colors and carnival look (Though you'd have to factor in the track, of course) My only complaint with the set is with Robin. They only gave him handcuffs to go against The Joker, Harley, and Riddler. Do they really expect him to take down the Clown Prince of Crime and his cronies with a pair of handcuffs? Nope, but all the better for him to get captured. Plus I'm not a fan of Batman's vehicle in this set. I know they had to put a vehicle in this set and the only one they could have without jacking up the price is the Bat-cycle, but its design doesn't work for me, but now I think I'm just looking for things to complain about. A must have for any Bat-fan or DC fan. It has some notable entries in Batman's rouges gallery as well as the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder themselves, excellent playability, not to mention the set itself is eye candy. It's been on my wish-list since it came out and I can't seem to find it without paying an arm and a leg on eBay. I guess I know why: This is an amazing set.
  8. Oh my, I didn't even see that one. But yeah, I'm a bit new at these, and it shows. I don't have too many licensed figs, just some Star Wars, Superheroes, and Pirates (I had a PoP set a while back for all its worth). I want to do something with the Superman and Wonder Woman minifigs I have but I have no idea what to do with them. The Lex/40 cakes joke is already a rotting corpse of a dead horse.
  9. I actually have a better camera, but the iPod cam was the closest. I'll retake this one if you want with the better cam.
  10. Those minifigs look amazing up close, especially the bride's face. So gruesome, I love it. There's even a little bit of blood, something I didn't think TLG could get away with. The groom looks pretty nice too, especially how one of his sleeves are missing. So much detail on these guys, it's astonishing. Let's not forget about McHammer. About time we got some green flannel! Plus his hunting vest is a nice touch. This may be me, but doesn't his face resemble one of the old Rock Raiders faces? (Sorry for the triple post, my computer is wanting to be a huge troll. Can an admin delete the duplicates? )

  12. Great job, Oky, as always. Here's my next entry. I found one of the Clone minifigs so I thought "Why not."
  13. I think it has the makings of a good TV show like Ninjago. They seem to have put a lot of work into this series. Even if they don't, I'm still psyched for this series.
  14. I'm liking this zombie set. That's actually on the top of my must buy list now. The two zombie minifigs look great and the set, from what I can see, looks pretty good. A little sparse, but two graves and a crypt is a good representation of a graveyard, not to mention the vehicle looks very nice. Kind of has that rustic look, and of course with the obligatory flick-fires. I can't wait to see the set in person or better yet, see the price. I'm just a bit disappointed those are the only zombies we get, but it's better than nothing, right? Plus we have the cab driver from the hearse set as an expansion as well as the CMF 1 zombie minifig to flesh it out, not to mention skeletons if you like them.
  15. Maybe because it's supposed to be Dead Silence or something, IDK. It's still a great pic, with the shooter out of focus and all.
  16. I think it's both, since they had to use the Pharaoh's Quest staff for Loki, just with a Ninjago sai inside instead of a jewel. I had to spit out my Pepsi at that last one, Oky. I was wondering when someone would do a Disney/Marvel joke. I would, but I don't have a lot of Disney sets (Just one PoP and two PotC sets, so it wouldn't be as good)
  17. Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, guys. I have a hunch you'll be seeing some more from me soon. Anyway, yeah, the Iron Chef one was genius. If only you could put the chef's hat on the helmet, huh?
  18. Finally got one of the Marvel sets.

  19. Here's my first (Not very good) entry. I apologize for the crappy quality, as my normal camera's batteries need charging.
  20. Personally I think feeling the bags is pretty kosher, as that's how I got my series 5 guys (And some purposeful duplicates. You can never have enough gangsters) and some of the series 6 guys I wanted. Plus let's say there's a kid who wanted a Highlander, and you helped him out by feeling the packets until you found one for him. Not only is it helpful for you, but also gives you an opportunity to help those who might want a certain figure. I read throughout this thread about how some Lego store employees will feel the bags until they get a certain figure for a customer, but I digress, On that note, opening them is not only crossing the line but riding a rocket right over the line and crossing it until said rocket runs out of fuel. It's just not right and, in my book, counts as theft. It ruins the experience for everyone then, it's just plain sleazy. But I have no qualms for people who buy them as intended: a surprise. The only reason I'd do it is if I'm in a hurry and I want to feel like it's Christmas, not knowing which figure(s) I've gotten. Plus if I got one I didn't really want, I'd just either find a use for it or sell it on eBay/give it to a friend.
  21. Great review for a great set. I got the last one my Walmart had in stock at the moment. I have only one major gripe and that's the flick fire missiles. They're pretty difficult to flick personally, but when you do it, they go pretty far. Other than that, ace set.
  22. My mistake. I was just thinking zombies like the CMF Series 1 zombie. Anyway, I agree with there needing to be better pics out there, but I already have an idea of which ones I'll be getting, which'll probably be all of them (Even the weakest set has a reason to get it)
  23. Not yet, but at least we have an idea of what the set will likely be about, since the bio sheet mentioned a voodoo necromancer guy. These won't be your George Romero zombies, that's for sure.
  24. I couldn't agree more. I'm not a huge fan of either, but Ninjago at least has some good sets, characters, and a decent TV show to its name. Hero Factory looks like a half baked Bionicle clone.
  25. Same here, but my evil monster hunters were going to act as spies. Why can't it be Summer already? This theme is going to rock.
