Disney Properties 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Do we often get multiple costumed versions of the same minifigure character in the same set, though - especially in licensed sets? The only examples I can think of off the top of my head would be different versions of The Doctor in Doctor Who (though that might not even count), the Queer Eye set, the old Death Star sets, and Vader's Transformation. I think that's more of a minidoll thing, sadly - though I would love Belle's peasant dress! The locket was just one piece, though: a full organ would probably take up a large chunk of space and a high part count, though, and there still needs to room for the ballroom, West Wing, and probably a dining room and library. Possibly Belle's room and a kitchen, the "Master's Room" with the fireplace, and maybe even a jail cell if Maurice is included. I just don't think there would be room for a full Tim Curry CGI Organ. At most, they might but some Christmas baubles or maybe a figure to represent the angel up near an empty "attic" section. -

That's basically the vibe I was getting as well. Plus some of the shots, like walking away from a building and pushing a button to blow it up, to get a "cool guys don't look at explosions" shot. I'm willing to chock it up to it simply being a mass-market trailer that somehow missed airing during the Superbowl and hope it's not an indication of a turn in Andor's tone, though. -

Jasmine already exists in spades in Lego form - in both minidoll and one minifigure form. I don't think Fifi would be any worse than some of the old Castle figure, like this one: -

That happens all the time - Fell Beast, the Mickey Projector one, the upcoming Star Trek one, etc. If we do get a GWP, I think a 200-300 piece rose and belljar would probably be it. -

Maurice? Unless they make the staff as both objects and minifigs, I think he's likely. 80%, I'd say. Philippe? Lego's been really allergic to putting horses into sets for some reason - the $400 Lion Knight's Castle only had two, for example. However, based on the lavender colors, they may be trying to go more theme park than movie, so Philippe may not "fit" with that image. I'd only say 20%. Overall - I'm reminded a lot of the Disney 100 Castle. It's very bright and theme park-y, but I just wish it was more grey - I'm not a fan of the colors. -

Not having Spider-Ham, Peni Parker, or Spider-Noir is a real shame. Yes, Lego's done two of them before, and Peni's not too hard to figbash if you want to, but it's like leaving Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca out of a Star Wars CMF and putting in Yakface and Chief Chirpa. They're very memorable supporting characters from multiple movies, but instead get shafted for cameos. I'll halfway forgive Lego for this if we get some kind of a "Spider-Verse Team-Up" set next January with the Supporting Trio and Peni's Mech (possibly throw in Kingpin for them to fight) for $50 next year. If not - at least I have the old Noir and Spider-Ham. Thoughts on the list as it seems to stand for now: Miles - was a given, hope they find some way to improve on the set version. Gwen - was a given, hope they find some way to improve on the set version. India - Makes sense - I'm interested how they will do his Yo-Yos, or if there's a chance he gets some Chai tea thrown in as well. 2099 - Also makes a lot of sense. I wonder if they'll include blades as a new mold, or will just have them printed. Either way, I'm sure it will be a huge improvement over the old one. Spider byte - Fine, I suppose, but I'm not too excited to see her. I wonder if they'll keep her as a hologram, or "colorize" her to look like everyone else? Cyborg spider woman - had to look her up - didn't ring a bell at all. Seems like an odd choice. Punk - Makes sense - not too much to speculate about there. Prowler - having a villain is also nice - wish we could have gotten a few more (like Kingpin). Hopefully they do the cape justice. Peter b parker - was basically a given. Wonder if they'll do the pink bathrobe look or the "dad bod" look - I feel like I've seen more with the bathrobe though. If that's the case, hopefully Mayday sneaks in too. Werewolf - another one I had to look up. Meh - was not on my wanted list. Sun spider - Who? Doesn't ring a bell at all. Cowboy - I do remember him from the other Glup Shitto Spider-Men. Still a bit of a boring pick, but I didn't have to look him up at least. For all of them (but especially main characters) - I hope there's enough budget to include both masks and "regular" heads for everyone. D&D set the precedent, so I hope that this one can keep up that momentum. Overall... I suppose being excited for 7/12 in a CMF is a good sign? But there's a lot of filler and some very odd inclusions (and exclusions) as well, as many other people have pointed out. I'll still probably get a full set, but I am a bit less enthusiastic now. EDIT: - Oh, wait, this is coming from The Brick Reporter? Well, that probably means the list has a 20% chance to be accurate - possibly less. I'll wait until we hear something from other people before I think any more about it. Just add in the cat Spider-Man, and boom - nonhuman Spider-Man. And you open up another slot in the roster. Or, you know, just do Spider-Ham. One of the main supporting characters from the first movie and who still has speaking lines in the second (even through flashbacks). -

Agreed. A Big Fig would be way too big for The Beast, and the Toy Story limbs would be too lithe. Normal minifig will be best - he'll naturally end up taller than Belle with a custom head mold anyways. -

JohnTPT17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
In my opinion - no. The Avatar/Toy Story limbs work best for characters with thin limbs (like Woody or Jake) - they don't work for a character who's supposed to have some bulk, like Thing. Also, it's worth noting that most of those characters have custom head molds (I think Jack is the only exception) - just Jack has thin limbs and a small head, so it works. -
Hmm... They definitely seem very similar. But there's also some differences in there as well. Now I'm not sure how to feel... It wouldn't be the only set that heavily borrows from something that already exists, though. Medieval Tournament borrows pretty heavily from set 10223. EDIT: After looking at it more, I think that the greenhouses could just happen to be similar. There seems to be enough differences between them that any similarities just boil down to how one would build a greenhouse at that scale. The exterior, interior, plant selection, water pump, and even several details on the greenhouse are all different. I could be wrong, but I'm not waiting any flags either. EDIT 2: If you're in a voting mood today, you can also head over to the Lego Ideas site and vote on the 90's Throwback set of your choice - the Top 5 are Jumanji, The 5th Element, The X-Files, Edward Scissorhands, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I think besides the usual swath of Castle, semi-modulars, Western, trains, and boats, a new category seems to be firmly entrenched: 1000ish piece sets that feature a vehicle on a baseplate selling food. I'll also note that a lot of the sets feel "overstuffed" - a lot of the time I might look at the set, only to be flabbergasted by the part counts. For better or worse, there are also a lot of resubmissions. There's a lot of good designs, but only one I thought I'd mention specifically here: Skating at the Sugar Shack. It's designed by JKBrickworks, who made the old Pursuit of Flight set from the earlier iteration of the program. More ingenious mechanical movements, and a cheap price at only 596 parts! Be sure to check out the video to see the movement. My other top ones, in no particular order, would probably be: Countryside Greenhouse: Feels like it "earns" that part count, and it makes sense as a "stand-alone" Wizard's Tower: A decent spin on the Castle tropes from the wave, and it seems to have some play features. Though I do wonder if this is one of those "born-digital" sets that might have some IRL stability issues. Juice Bar: Does it almost fall into the "vehicle on a baseplate selling food" category? Yes. I still like it, though. Working Windmill: Bad name, and I don't like the exposed Technic beams in the back. Still, it looks nice. Pigs, Potions, & Pauldrons: An upgraded design of one of my previous shoutouts. I like the updates, but I think it could be falling into the "high part count for what it is" category. The Enchanted Forest's Lavender Chalet: Looks like it could slot into Halloween Town - but I mean that in a good way! Food Stand Diners: Probably my second favorite from the wave. I especially like that the food stands work as either minifig-scale eateries, or they can be turned around to look like normal food. Best Designer of the wave: PepeFrost has several excellent-looking sets. None of them are quite grabbing me, and several are resubmissions, but I can't deny the talent and the eye for design. Most Disappointing Designer: JonasKramm - Where's my Mushroom Village Part 3?! His submission still looks really good, though, and it could very well even be a contender for approval - but I would have greatly preferred an expansion on the idea of the mushrooms he's done previously. Not bad by any means - but I am personally disappointed. Overall - a bit underwhelming of a wave. I'll show up on pre-order day for Skating at the Sugar Shack, but might pass on the rest, unless it's a good price or I take more time to appreciate it.

Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion

Agreed. That game kinda came out of nowhere, but it seems to be really popular and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. If we can get a wave of sets loosely tied in to that 2020 Avengers game, which ended up bombing, surely we can get some loose tie-ins for some of these characters which seem to be much more popular. -

The MCU isn't the Michael Bay Transformers-verse - those kinds of movies already exist, and a movie like that in the MCU would be really boring to me. Like others have said, the Iron Man movies work for me because of Tony Stark (or, more specifically, Robert Downey Jr). Neither Rhodey as a character, nor "Iron Man with a gun" is enough of a draw for me, and neither is Iron Heart, based on what I've seen of her from Black Panther 2. I think Tony Stark has a much more interesting story with his trauma than Rhodey basically being a blank slate who, to me, is just "Iron Man's buddy," or Riri, who just came across to me as "generic smart girl" - so, no, for me, simply being in proximity to Tony Stark and having Iron Man suits is not enough to get me interested in anything either of them would feature in. Rhodey doesn't seem to really invent any of the suits or work with the tech - he just walked into one of the suits one day, I never got the feeling that he was tinkering around with it to customize it, or figuring out how exactly the things works. At least Riri actually makes her own suit. Though I could be misremembering. I think that, for me, Cheadle in general is roughly in the same spot that Anthony Mackie is in - he did a decent job as a supporting character, and I like them fine enough as that role, but they don't really work for me as a leading man and don't hold a candle to RDJ or Chris Evans. Before the CA&TWS show, I even felt slightly more connection with Falcon with his group therapy stuff - despite being in more movies than Falcon, War Machine basically had one nice chat with Gamora in Endgame, but not much more depth than that. That being said, I was really only drawn to CA&TWS for Bucky, who I felt like has a lot more depth, and not Falcon, and the show didn't really sell me on the character as Cap, or as a leading man (and I'm skipping Brave New World because of it). I doubt yet another TV show, this time featuring War Machine/Riri, would be very captivating to me personally. -

Bricklink is almost certainly going to be cheaper than Bricks and Minifigs. At the very least, it'll be comparable - his 6 month sold average is $15, and there's one US store that has him for $9.99 plus $5.99 shipping. Expensive for one minifigure, sure, but really not too bad compared with other Star Wars minifigs that have only appeared in a single set. -

I do think that it's possible to have low budget, premium Castle products. MTS just didn't quite hit the right balance and ended up being compromised, IMO. Though I fully agree that the original leak would have been a much better received set and probably far more popular, even if it was closer to $300 MSRP. -

The issue with BDP sets is that they have to use parts that are currently in-production. When MTS (and Lion Knight's Castle and Viking Village, which also both retire this year) retires, then those parts will no longer be available. The only ones that could potentially be available will be whatever's in the Creator Horse Castle and the faction winner for Ideas, so unless there's new sets planned for 2026, there could be a squeeze for Castle parts in BDP. I was really hyped up for MTS - but it was overall a miss for me. Lots of details and animals lacking, buildings that don't flow very well together... Lots of things just didn't quite meet expectations. I'll try to keep an eye out for a discount around Black Friday, but I'm honestly (and, sadly) not really rushing to get it either. -

New CMF Parts: Sweats Nervously (I know they're towards a slightly different market and the CMF team had different mold budgets, but still). And even if it's not a matter of new mold, Star Wars could take a page out of the Harry Potter CMF book and at least do a few useful prints for some characters/character variants. Maybe there's some kind of a licensing issue there, but it would make them far more interesting. And I for one loved getting Advent Calendars after Christmas for dirt cheap as a kid a a pseudo-Battle Pack or City Filler set. The structure might have been a little odd, but bricks are bricks, and you can use countdown throughout the year for birthdays/other holidays if you really wanted to. EDIT: Looks like I got Ninjago'd about the new prints! -

I'll support you in your unpopular opinion - there's definitely good that can come from a "Battle Pack" that's purely four identical minifigures, but I also really like the ones with more variety between the figures and/or with named characters. I'm probably only going to buy one of the pack myself - maybe two on a rare occasion. Though I imagine that those who like variety are only buying one, while those who want multiples want identical (or at least easily massable) figures. Also, I don't really mind $20 Battle Packs. Yeah, I would love it they were a little cheaper, but CMFs are also $5 each, which means it's the same cost per minifig at the end of the day (though CMFs usually have more detail, though Battle Packs have more of a build) - in a bubble, I at least don't think they're a "scam" or anything. That, and you can usually find them 20 percent off within a few months and basically get it for $4 per minifig, which is much more doable. -
I was weak and got my foot in the door for Seaside Market and Siege Encampment... Though at this point it feels more like I jammed my toe in a corner. FOMO got the best of me this time - I probably should have just let someone else order them. Unless I can find someone locally who might want them when I get closer, I'll delete my preorder for these (which does make me feel bad for those who wanted to get the sets... Sigh).
-
If you ban me, then I'll just make you pay a Gold Brick to read everyone one of my comments! Then we'll see who wins That being said - I'm fine with calling Legos "Legos." I know why it's improper, but I really don't care - and there's far more important things to worry about with Legos anyways. And as far as possible US tariffs go, apparently they have been delayed for Mexico by at least a month now.
-
Exactly. Yeah, we all love Legos here, but there's far more important things that the US buys and sells that will really throw things out of whack if they suddenly become more expensive - medical supplies, electronics, lumber, etc. No one at the national level is doing this to get back at Lego specifically - they're just getting caught in the crossfire with these tariffs. I am still going to try to remain optimistic that these are all just strong-arm tactics and they don't actually stick around for long. If it's short enough, Lego may even be able to ride out just based on inventory they already have in Illinois - possibly weeks, maybe a few months for some things. But if we get to July (or maybe next week - I don't really know how these things work) and everything is still getting locked down, prices will almost certainly go up. Just based on how big the US market is, how many sets are targeted towards the US (Twilight House, the numerous sitcom sets), and how many business partners Lego has in the US (Disney being the biggest), I don't think Lego will be able to pull out entirely. And this is all just for Legos - something which, at the end of the day, is not a necessity. There's potential for way more issues to come in the short and long term from recent political moves. (That's all I'm going to say for politics, though)
-
Based on the size and price of Lief's trailer, a full Harv's Island could get quite expensive very quickly. Though it could also act as a good way to get a bunch of characters/act as some kind of foundation for people to make their own big, custom islands. A Redd's Boat/Museum combo is my wish for the next wave. It would knock out a few more major characters and locations (especially if Brewster's is included with the Museum, or is sold separately as a third set) and has the potential for some cool builds. Include enough parts to either build a "real" or "fake" statue, include two tiles for real or fake paintings, etc. I'm also 99.9% sure everything in the museum is public domain, since it's all pretty old, so there shouldn't be any issues with getting anything (and, realistically, there might only be room for 4-6 pieces of art at maximum, so they could just go with the ones that don't have licensing issues anyways if that was a factor).

Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think it's just an overprices Marvel set - plain and simple. The Hoopty and X-Jet were way overpriced too, and they did that without big-figs as an excuse.
