Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Before there's too much more discourse on the idea that "a Spider-Verse CMF would just be repeats of minifigures that already exist," lets not forget that in the two existing Marvel series: Series 1: Scarlet Witch: Already included in other sets. White Vision: New Monica: Reused in another set (albeit much later) Winter Solder: Slight update on existing model Falcon Cap: New Loki: Arguably a variant of an existing character. Sylvie: New Zombie Hunter Spidey: No all that new Zombie Cap: Arguably a variant of an existing character. Captain Carter: New T'Challa Star-Lord: Could argue either new or a variant. Gamora: Should have been in the set. Series 2: Agatha: New Moon Knight: New Mr. Knight: New WBN: Arguable already exists in Lego. She-Hulk: Already exists in Lego. Hawleye: Already exists. Kate: New Goliath: Arguably an Ant-Man Variant. Echo: New Beast: New Storm: Already exists, and recently reused. Wolverine: Already exists, and recently reused. There's definitely arguments to be made one way or another on these, but the same arguments of "they already exist in Lego form," "they're already in sets," "they should be in sets and not a CMF," or "there's not interesting things they could include with them" also apply to the other Marvel waves (and, heck, even the DC one, or even most licensed CMFs). -
My overall thoughts: Art Factory: Looks pretty good overall, and it'll be on the cheaper side. Not for me, but hopefully it'll be pretty popular (though past non-modular modulars have struggled). Offroad Adventure: I get the niche of the "vechicle on a baseplate," but at this point it's getting a little redundant. I also think that $80 for a truck is going to cause a little more hesitation from some buyers... And by that, I mean it might take slightly longer to sell out than others. Gold Mine Expedition: Looks pretty good, but it's also the biggest and most expensive of the wave. Pretty densely detailed, though. Sequoia Tree Trail: I think this one is a bit of a miss. Most of it is the titular trees, but I don't think those will be very enjoyable to build, and the rest isn't very noteworthy. Outlaw Forest Den: A cheaper castle, which I think is a good thing, but looking at it from the back, it really one has about 7 rooms. That's a set I would need to see more photos of to know one way or another. I noticed that a lot of discussion overall has talked about story and play features, which I think is a good reaction to The Lost City. Hopefully that will also refine the any of the future entries to keep those in mind. Between all of my past purchases, though, there's nothing here that is a must-buy for me.

I like the idea of the livestream to reveal all of the sets - but I wish that they would announce all of them up front quickly, then follow it with a "fireside chat" and talk with each of the creators. There's some good nuggets in there, but I think most people just want to know what the five sets will be.

Series 19 Mountain Biker had a bike. Not quite the same as the movie, but it's still in the realm of reason. -

Printed comic books (which are often used to introduce the characters) Spider-Ham's hammer (make a new convex hammer head mold instead of a brick built one) Hobie's guitar Doc Ock's arms/computer A Bagel Spider-Cat/Mayday Parker could be accessories Jessica's motorcycle Spray cans/music equipment/claws for Prowler A molded "Goober" (thumb drive) A bag with Mile's first Spider-man costume Mile's sketchbook. Various holograms (especially for 2099) Gwen's drum kit Spider-Man India's... Yo-yo thing? Can't remember. Include parts for Penny's mech in all off the figures Those are just off the top of my head - and some of those, admittedly, would just be "tiles" - but I still think that there's a lot of options. For all we know, it could even have some things that lean into the third movie. -
LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
JohnTPT17 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There are some promos listed, but they haven't leaked/announced which sets will be going on sale yet. Last year, the list leaked on Tuesday the 21st - three days before Black Friday. If this year is like that, then we may not know which specific sets are on sale until the 26th (Thanksgiving/Black Friday are late this year). -

I'm hopeful that, at minimum, they will include alternate heads/hair for most of the spider people - like the did with Zombie Hunter Spider-Man. I'm sure there's also some accessories that will come with all of them. -

Images are now out for the Horizon set. No new spear piece, but Varl's hair is new, and it looks like he also has a new cape. I'm not sure about Australia specifically, but I believe that the Fortnite sets will be getting a wide release in January for the US at least. -

Huh... Did not have a Spider-Verse CMF on my bingo card! (throws away Animal Crossing and Fortnite predictions) There's definitely a lot they could do for this - several Spider-Verse minifigs do exist, but I could see them getting updates here (like Spider-Noir or 2099). Lots of different Spider variants they could go with, too. And hopefully they pull a D&D Series and include two heads for everyone - one masked, and one unmasked (for those it would apply to). That could also give a reason for those who aren't into Spider-Verse to get the series. -

That's... An unusually good PPP, especially when it has two minifigs and at least one new mold? Still, I'll take it. -
How to Train Your Dragon - 2025 Rumors & Updates
JohnTPT17 replied to karrit's topic in LEGO Licensed
No minifigs at all, and only a single set? Cowabummer. That doubly makes me think it will be designed like the buildable Stitch - focus on the kawaii aesthetic instead of going for some thing with big, articulated wings. We already have the Horntail and a gaggle of Ninjago dragons that cover those ideas - Toothless would obviously be build a little differently, but he would mostly just be like either of those, but in black. In either case - with no minifigs, my interest has plummeted. -

Not for the animals, no. One of the minifig torsos might be new, though.

$20 for two minifigs, two sheep, a lamb, a puppy, and a tractor is a pretty good deal - even if it is a 4+ set.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 27. Rumors and discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Not necessarily replace, but at least supplement them. Blister packs with five army-building minifigures used to be pretty common for Castle themes, for example. There was even the odd "VIP Top 5" minifigure pack, which brought back a handful of CMF minifigures. And there have also been a few other supplements which brought back slightly different versions of previous CMFs, like the Iconic Cave, Penguin Winter hut, and Party Banana Juice Bar, if not the exact same figure, like with Easter Minifigure. Anything like that which could bring back popular figures after an initial run (especially if it features army-builders) would probably be very popular, plus bring down the aftermarket price on others which could potentially otherwise be horded by resellers. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 27. Rumors and discussion

This one comes to mind - it's been used since 2022. Either sweater could be a direct nod towards the trans flag - or, it could be a random combination of three colors chosen from a hat. I don't think that any one interpretation is wrong or right - it's Lego, and I'm sure we all have our own head canon about our figures, who they are, and what they represent. And even if a minifigure is supposed to be assembled in one particular way, it can be taken apart and reused in some other way. I'm not too worried about it either way - if people want to read into the colors a certain way, I'm not going to be worried about it too much one way or another (I don't like the minifigure much regardless of the color palate - I'm just interested in the cat). -

Ooh... Nice catch! Aloy's body and hair look the same to me comparing it with the image on Bricklink, though - the face is definitely new. I also don't think that this is simply IRL design mock-ups, though - there's Lego copyright info on the arrow on Aloy's bow, which I doubt would be included if this was just a small batch/3D printed stand-in for reference. Nice to see! -
Hermit crab was (unprinted) in the Milky Way Galaxy set - you are right about the toucan, though.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 27. Rumors and discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have a hunch that these might have actually been taken from a factory - I don't know why else the image with the box doesn't have the final dot matrix code, or why there is no visible glue on any of the flaps. That makes me kinda suspicious. I could be totally wrong, though. -
And the flamingo - though that is arguably a lawn ornament and not the actual creature. The colt also, oddly, was only ever recolored for an advent calendar. In either case, I do hope that the wolf comes in some sets during next year - whether that's a City set or something else in the vein of Castle.

That wasn't about a CMF - that was about a minifigure polybag - like the Animal Crossing Maple one. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 27. Rumors and discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
1. Never really needed the hamster/gerbil personally - not really one I'm looking forward to, but I can see why others would like him. 2. Best by a mile. I could have just been the wolf on a 1x1 plate, and I'd still want several - but to get a whole Wolfpack guy on top of it? Excellent. Gonig to be hard to find in stores, though. 3. I like him better than I initially thought. Might switch out the head to make him a robot. Decent overall. 4. Pretty generic overall, but the new arm and tripod piece have a lot of potential for the future. 5. I'm not really into the kawaii aesthetic, so I'm not a huge fan personally. Like the gerbil, though I can understand why some would like her. 6. I guess she'll fit along with my dino costume folks, and maybe be a romantic partner for Man-Bat, but that's about it. 7. Another pretty standard City affair with decent parts that can be reused. Just not for me personally. 8. I like the book, but not the monster. I would have preferred something cuter and fuzzier than soul-eating. 9. Might get two or three. It's an archetype that Lego's been missing for awhile,, so I'm glad to see it. Probably the closest there will ever be a Lego Pit. 10. I like the bird and generally like her, but something feels missing? I really can't put my finger on it. I probably just need to see it in-person. Might get a couple. 11. I know a lot of people are excited for the new cat, but it doesn't feel like the most necessary addition to the Lego animal kngdom. Decent for what it is, don't need more than one. 12. The "accessory" is a major letdown - steampunk lends itself to so many cool oddities, but the choice is a standard grabber arm? Major disappointment. The minifigure is pretty good, at least. Might get a second, but not much more than that. Other than the Beastmaster, I think this is a perfectly average series - nothing terrible, but nothing I'm jumping to get or amass in large numbers. Ah, well - I'm sure I'll get more use out of any one of these than the entire F1 series. -

Correct - though you can't re-release if you've never been released in the place. Offhand, in terms of prequel characters with multiple English speaking lines whose names are mentioned on-screen, we're still missing Dexter Jettster, Boss Nass, and Lama Su. There's more that are missing (lots of podracers, Jedi council members, Separatist leaders, Naboo NPCs, etc). but I think those three plus Shmi are the most important ones that have never been produced.
