Thanks! I only checked the most recent one (since it talked about Medieval Town Square) - I'll have to check it out! -
LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
JohnTPT17 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's not going to be Star Wars. One of the mods on the r/legoleak subreddit, itsjustajoe, said specifically (regarding Fives and Revan) that: I'm going to set my expectations low and say that they're going to be in an Art set, similar to the 43221 "100 Years of Disney Animation Icons" set. -

(Pushes up glasses) The Giant Castle Chess set, 852293, (my white whale) has 33 - one for each chess piece, plus one skeleton on the side. So, the chess set just edges it out. I believe that this one wins for licensed sets, though. -
@TandNbricks has given as set number for Barad-dûr - 10333. So, it must be coming soon!

I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic about the price for now. Lego seems to be pricing larger in-house sets at a really good PPP: Viking Village is $130 with 2103 pieces. Alpine Lodge is $100 with 1517 pieces. The newly-leaked Natural History Museum is €299.99 (so, probably about that in USD) with 4014 pieces. Sure, it's not a perfect comparison - animals do usually carry a premium in Lego sets, and the goat probably has new mold costs with it - but, hopefully it's a sign that Lego is going to set the in-house, AFOL-centric sets at a good PPP. Maybe the price hikes they implemented last year didn't work out they way they had hoped? Where did Brickclicker talk about this? That could be an interesting read... -

I can't find any particular link on Promobricks itself, but the r/legoleak subreddit is quoting maxbaut/MaxBautDE, who apparently in on the Promobricks team - so, hopefully it is reputable. 10332 Medieval Town Square - 3304 Pieces - 229.99 Euros "Old farmhouse, cheese factory, Broken Axes Inn, shieldsmith's workshop and the watchtower. Various minifigures including crook, carpenter, tax collector, tapestry weaver, shieldsmith tower guard and other + animals" Looking back at the originals leaked images, I'm wondering which buildings belong where... The old farmhouse might be the green building in the middle, next to the pine tree? And the cheese factory might be the stone building next to it, with the red roof? It does look like there is a cheese-selling stand in the middle of the image. And I'm guessing that the watchtower and workshop and the two buildings on the right. That still leaves one unknown building - the small white building on the left (unless it got cut or one of the buildings are combined). The cast of minifigures sounds like it should be pretty interesting and cover medieval archetypes we haven't seen yet, as opposed to just another all-encompassing generic blacksmith, so that makes me happy! And the lower Euro price has me hopeful that the USD price will be closer to $250. Only time will tell! -

Potentially unpopular opinion: I don't really care what faction of knights is present in the Medieval Town Square (I guess I'm going to have to get used to that name). I'm not much of an army builder (I already have a good-sized crew from the Fantasy/Crown Knights era and currently don't want a second large human group), and I don't have any nostalgia over the older themes. At worst, I'll just have whoever the new knights are be another visiting kingdom for a tournament or a trade escort, like I've done with a few other odd knights I've gotten in the past. I'm just here for the peasants and village itself. Agreed! It does look good in isolation, but it doesn't "mesh" as well with the MMV. Again, as someone who mostly just has the Fantasy era sets, I thought that the scale between that castle and the MMV was pretty good: the castle was still a big, imposing centerpiece, but the village was still roomy and didn't feel tiny (especially when the sets were "opened up"). I'm actually thinking about either trying to mod my blacksmith shop into something closer in size to the MMV (and have it open up in a similar way), or use one of the Rebrickable mods to turn it into a cathedral. Or, maybe I'll sell it to help get more funds for Medieval Town Square... -

3304 pieces? Oh boy... I was hoping that it would be close to $250 in price, but that part count might bump it closer to $300... I'm going to need to find more spending cash... -
Just a wild guess! The Switch is getting old, and with how out-of-the-blue support for Animal Crossing was dropped, I have a theory that Nintendo might be using it to help sales for the new console. All just fun speculation though!
-
I doubt they will be facades. The trees in-game are fairly flat, so having them similarly flat in the teaser makes sense (Plus, it's probably easier to attach fruit to a flat surface than a round one). I think that simple, open-back dollhouse buildings for most of the houses and other buildings make the most sense, with the possible exception of a larger museum or player home. Fair! I also hope that we get Mario and friends minifigs (and Zelda ones!), but I think they are just as deserving of full-on sets as the Animal Crossing gang. I'm mostly hoping for an Animal Crossing CMF just to expand the roster of characters that we can add to our village at a fair price, and possibly add a few new animal head molds to the available roster. Assuming that Mario characters in their basic forms would eventually get their own retail sets and wouldn't be forced to stay locked to a CMF (like the Muppets), then I think I'll take an Animal Crossing one. I'm more willing to try to find a "Animal Crossing cat variation" in a CMF than I would be "Mario variation," since I could be getting Purrl, Lolly, Raymond, or Tangy - unique characters - as opposed to a Fire or Ice Mario, if that makes sense. Sure, we could eventually get Purrl (or any other villager) in some other retail set, but, like the Marvel, Disney, or Simpsons series, it only helps to expand the roster of characters that we have available, even if a lot of new molds aren't introduced in the series (even though you could have fish/bug molds, bunny balloons, gyroids, furniture, K.K. Slider album prints, etc). Now, if a CMF were the only way to get Daisy or Waluigi? Sure, I can wait on Purrl - but I still think that Mario and friends can also get regular minifig sets and not have to be locked to a CMF Muppets-style.

Oh boy, let's get to overanalysing! Fauna is wearing the default outfit she uses in her New Leaf profile, not her default New Horizons outfit. So, either Nintendo sent over the wrong image, or there's a chance we get designs/locations from older games. A bit odd that Isabelle didn't get dual-molded arms like Nook did - she would be more accurate if she had them. Still probably one of the best translations game-to-Lego though! Tom Nook also could have done with some printing on the waist part of his tail, like Robin Hood had. Hopefully that can be fixed! Introducing Julian (who has a unique mold that doesn't work for other horses) means that Lego might be willing to make other one-off molds for other unique villagers, like Ahnka with her head piece or Drago with his frills. Based on the minifigures, I'll take a guess and say that the $20 set will be Kapp'n boat (slightly higher price to go with a mold that can't be reused elsewhere), and the $75 set will be Resident Services. Resident Services will probably have a large baseplate for the "plaza" area outside of it, which probably helped drive up the cost. I could also see KK Slider being in that set. A CMF series next September would be huge for this series (and one that I think people will be more accepting of than other Lego blind bag products). Since it will be winter for most of the world, I think that having winter Tom Nook and Isabelle would be fitting, plus Rover and either Celeste or Jingle (who don't have any locations tied to them in New Horizons), and eight other villagers - maybe I'll wishlist some guesses later. Since Blathers and the Able Sisters weren't teased, I think the museum and the tailor shop (and Blathers/Able Sisters) will need to wait for a Wave 2 of sets... Maybe released late summer/early fall? And the most crazy theory of them all... A new Animal Crossing game will release a few months after the new Nintendo console next year, and Lego will have tie-in sets to go with that new game, with either new outfits for Tom Nook/Isabelle, or new locations/characters. I just really want these guys to come out! Now we're just down to waiting until March (or maybe set description around January...). Hyped!

LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm torn... On the one hand, if they use a regular minifigure head, then that's less molds they have to make (not only the head, but potentially different hair as well), and they can pull from a variety of other parts to have lots of customization options for the player-villagers. On the other hand, a regular minifigure head could look really small next to these custom-molded heads. So, it's a toss-up, though I'm leaning towards them using regular minifigure heads for simplicity's sake, even if it does look a little off. -

Oh, wow, I wasn't expecting to see anything about the Animal Crossing sets until at least January! I'm glad to see that Lego/Nintendo went all-in with the molds, and gave each character their own molded head. The heads also seems to have a hole for pin-in accessories, which is another nice touch. It also looks like the tree roots are another new mold, and at least some of the critters (Nook and possibly Marshall) have tails. I wonder if anyone else (including the player-villager) will be able to sneak into this first wave? Based on the characters shown, it looks like we'll be getting Kapp'n's boat and Resident Services - the lack of Blathers makes me think the museum might wait until a Wave 2. Then again, I wouldn't be shocked if there were at least a few other characters that will be coming along with these teased eight. I'm also very glad that the reception for the tease (from some of the other websites I've looked through) has all been very positive. A lot of people are even tossing around the idea of a blind bag series, which, I'll say again, is one series that I think will actually sell well as a blind box experience. Super excited for these to release! -

I think that Splatoon would work best as a stand-alone set as opposed to an entire theme. Granted, I don't know a ton about Splatoon, but I feel like a $80-$100 set of some kind of an arena, with 4-6 Inklings/Octolings and maybe a handful of the lead NPC characters would be pretty successful, especially in Japan (if Lego wanted to make a more "targeted" set like they have with the Chinese New Year's sets). In preparation for Animal Crossing, I want to try to find a few old Dimensions tags and some blank NFC chips to make my own knockoff Dimensions Animal Crossing Amiibo. From what I've read, the regular Toy Tag bases use NTAG 213 tags, while an Amiibo would need NTAG 215s that I would need to switch in... Does anyone have any experience opening up Dimensions bases? At absolute worst, the bases seems to be pretty cheap on Bricklink, so even if I break one it shouldn't be too big of a deal. As far as other Nintendo themes go... I wonder if you could make a believable Pikmin from the Dreamlings Dreamzzz bodies and the Pinoccio head? A stand-alone set with several Pikmin, Oatchi, and an enemy or two could be another popular one. -
Looks like you're right... They looked 2x2 to me at first glance, which might have worked with minifigs. 3x3 is probably too big, though.
-
I really like this one! I don't have the money or the space for most $200-$400 AFOL sets (though I'll make an exception for a few, like Barracuda Bay and the MMV [hopefully!]), so something like this is perfect for me! It reminds me of the Groot sets in some ways... And, in that case, I think it would have been fun if it came with a plaque and/or a minifigure. Still, it looks really good as-is. I probably won't get it Day 1, but I'll keep an eye out on it and get it with a discount/cheaper GWP. I wonder is that printed coin will get reused for the rumored/theorized Mário minifigure sets next year...

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Got my order from Minifigure Madness yesterday, and got everything sorted last night/today. Out of all 4 boxes, I got complete sets in all of them! Everything is already shipped off or picked up, so I'm ready for whatever series is next. If anyone wants to know the distribution of my boxes, I'll hide them so they're not taking up a bunch of room. If they're formatted funny, or if there are any issues, let me know! Box 1: Box 2: Box 3: Box 4: Notably, all of the boxes almost always have the same distribution pattern. The only issues are a few times where some "neighbors" in the box got switched, but that was something that I even noticed in the Disney series. (it's easier to spot the differences flipping between pages in the Google Spreadsheet I made). Now that I actually have the minifigs in hand, I do have a few thoughts: Lego really needs to figure out arm printing for minifigs - specifically, around the shoulders. All of the dozen Hawkeyes I opened had messy shoulder printing, and several others (like Wolverine and Echo) also had some issues. I'd rather have a plain, unprinted arm, or a slightly larger print that is more consistent (Kate's shoulder was a lot better, for example), then something that looks messy. I'm very happy that none of the parts were rubber! Looking at photos, I thought that Moon Knight's knives and Storm's hair might have been made of soft rubber, but I was delighted to be proven wrong in that department! As excited as I was for Wolverine, his printing brings down the minifig a few pegs in my book. It's a lot more noticeable than some of the others because the colors contrast so much, but the hip pieces and the legs have a noticeable yellow outline in them, and the other blue printing on the legs isn't totally consistent. Storm, Agatha, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk really stand out to me in-person (Storm's mohawk is even starting to grow on me), while Wolverine, Hawkeye, Echo, and Mr. Knight got a little worse, but I don't think it will be worth going into a character-by-character analysis. I am going to be interested to see how well this series sells overall. With as tearable as the packaging is (pun intended), I don't know how long of a "shelf life" these will have compared to a regular CMF series, so I doubt they will be on shelves for clearance sales if they don't sell well. Though, I could also be wrong in thinking that. -

Mine will get here on Tuesday! Sorry you've got to wait so long as opposed to us across the pond... You would think it would take more time to get to us! As much as I would love this lineup, I think that we're going to have some kind of a villain in the set so there can be some kind of "play conflict" for kids, since we know there's no Sentinel for the X-Men to fight. Other than that, I think your prediction is pretty sound. -

I ordered six boxes of Disney minifigs from them, and I got almost all complete sets. If I remember right, I was short a Stich and Mulan and had an extra Evil Queen and a Queen of Hearts - so, I wasn't missing any minifigures, it was just packed incorrectly. I'll try to keep track of the positioning for these ones when I get them though! -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion
JohnTPT17 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Lego made a Pocahontas minifigure and minidoll as a part of the Disney100 line, and I haven't seen any kind of a "PR nightmare." Sure, a few isolated voiced have said some things, but those have been a minority. (Continued thoughts, but this is getting off topic:) Anyways, back on topic... Will anyone be making a guessing thread? I've got a few guesses I'd like to get out before this next series starts leaking!- 574 replies

My prediction is that we'll get a child peasant with a baby goat in the CMF (otherwise known as the "kid battle pack"). Then, get get a brand new goat mold that can be used in the Market Village, new prints that can also be reused, and act as a tease for the Market Village (like how the troubadour parts were reused for/teased the Lion Knights' Castle). Plus, then we have a cute chase character that might be able to help sell blind boxes, like the space baby did earlier this year. Everyone wins!

I don't think anyone else has posted this yet, but there are at least two "Disney Classic Animation" sets that are reportedly coming next year in March: 43239: $29.99 (334 pieces) 43249: $64.99 (729 pieces) Source: gestelsebazar.nl, and reposted by Falconfan. In total, that means we're looking at one Pixar set, two Disney Classic minifig sets, eight minidoll princess sets, Ariel's castle, and one set that's still unknown (43247). -

So, what you're saying is, it was all Agathas all along? I'm in the same boat! I've got two orders placed, and have sold complete sets in my local area for a flat $60 each. I can help local AFOLs get them cheap, and even after I pay for shipping from Minifig Madness, I still come out on top and get my set for "free"! Hopefully I can get them all sorted soon though, I'm going to get busy with grad school stuff soon... I am curious how well this series is going to sell at-large, though. I just read that Echo has been delayed to next year, which mean zero of the characters in this series have a show actively releasing while they are on store shelves. Sure, a good chunk of them are from previous shows, but between the new boxes, some odd choices of characters, and none of their connecting shows coming out, I wonder how many of these will be sold overall...
