A little bit of testing for the undercarriage gearboxes. And it works perfectly, and the differential steering system works really nicely:). And the planned final count for motorized functions, 11. And one manual function for the openable cabin door. And everything will be powered by 1x Power Functions XL motor:).

Yeah. But then why the 18+ line up excist if it's not for the advanced builders but for the casual builders. Lego should bring back the 14+ and 16+ age rating for the casuals. Or overhaul the 18+ lineup. Because 18+ should be the pinicale of complexity and advanced mechanics. Not something a casual builder would be able to build;).

A little bit more progress:). And since this will be my own designed machine. And not based on any real life counterpart. I decided. Well, if this isin't based on anything let's pack in a insane amount of functions. And my plan is this will have around over 10 functions. All powered via one XL motor:). And in case you didn't know. When i was kid i liked to create unique machines which aren't based on anything. The new model, which celebrates my one year of eurobricks. Will be again completely unique design which doesn't excist in real life:).

Ok, im still really amazed by the height adjustment system for the front blade. Simple and effective. I have to give the designer a huge praise:). And yes, it's really hard to praise any functions on current technic sets. But i was truely mind blowed for the height adjustment system. It's really clever design:).

Hi, this is my second lego review and 7th review on this platform:). I had completely forgot about these sets. But when i builded the Miniature Combine Harvester. I did go to bricklink and i noticed these were really cheap, like 2.50β¬ not including the postage. So I decided to give a shot to try these. Because these aren't sold in Finland:). Specs:). Model name, Combine Harvester, Wrecking Ball Excavator. Price, 2.50β¬ each, and postage to Finland about 12β¬. Release date, 2025, 2024. Bricklink seller, Brickoutique in Spain. Pieces, 86 and 80. Age rating, 7+ Shipping envelope and the product package:). The models arrived in a nice bubblewrapped envelope. And spanish glue didn't mess around, it was soo sticky and hard to open;). The model's βboxesπ€β The artwork on these packages is really beautiful:). The pieces:). The excavator includes a separate paper bag for the treads. And I now noticed the combine harvester uses the same color found in the McLaren P1:). The separate bag used insanely strong glue;). And Unfortunately no instructions to be seen here. Well time to play the internet indiana jones and the lost instructions;). Thankfully after crossing a βfewβ deathly traps and surpassing a few angry civilizations. I found the lost instructions:). Building Process:). Spare parts:). Outside details:). Functions:). Ok, my mind is blown away. The little harvester has an adjustable front blade. Even though the movement is limited, it's still really effective:). Comparing the harvesters:). Final note:). Ok, the little wrecking ball excavator is soo fun to play with. Yes, it does need 2 hands to operate it. But it does come with bricks you can demolish. Now imagine if the 400β¬ 42215 gives you that premium treatment. And the combine harvester has a really great selection of functions. My favorite is the adjustable front blade. I didn't even know that was adjustable until I played with it after building:). So do i recommend these:). Yes, absolutely. They are reasonably cheap. With usually more functions and more unique functions than the 50β¬ car garbage sets:). Pros and cons:). +Playability +Functions +Price +Building experience -The wrecking ball excavator needs 2 hands to operate because of the small scale and the weight of the model:). Final verdict:). Functions 5/5 Playability 4.5/5 Instructions 4.5/5 Value 5/5 Pieces 4.5/5 Looks 4/5 Ok, im still blown away by the front blade adjustment system. I have to give it a yearly best functions gold star. Great that technic designers have not lost the plot. Its soo amazing that 2.50β¬ set can beat the 400β¬ 18+ 42215 volvo excavator:).

Technic General Discussion
Auroralampinen replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok, my first hands on experience with the 42215 showel. Oh wow this is the first lego element which feels really cheap and hollow. Im sorry. But how 2010, 8043 or the 2019, 42100 excavator showel feeled soo much premium and confidence inspiring than thisπ€. Ok, i might know the reason. The 42209 and the others used hard soft plastic which is mat and slighty grippy and sturdier feeling and nicely flexible. And the 42215 bucket intead uses glossy hard plastic which feels like some sort of cheap plastic office paper organiser for the work table -
And in case you are wondering. This differential steering is completely my own design. I builded this from real life counterpart technical picture. But little bit tweeking to fit in lego system:). And my differential is specially build for single motor model. And this can be operated by one motor thru a series of gearboxes:).

Allright i did a little bit testing for the differential steering, and it works so perfectly. So i have now thought those functions. So the functions will be controlled by a master selector, between drive and boom controls. In the drive mode you will select either the drive or steering. And on the boom controls, you control first stage of the boom and the scong stage plus boom rotation and outriggers. So this will need a bucket load of engineering. But im so happy that my first attempt to make differential steering works soo well. And this model will have 1x Power Functions XL motor to power everything:).

Well, i have to be honest. I did play a bit with the newest moc idea, the tracked backhoe loader. But it did have a few flaws on it's gearbox design. So i will put that on the indefident hiatus. And i have started thinking a new model. And since i do care about my loyal fanbase that model didn't meet my strict quality control needs. So i have decided to go in the new direction. Because my fanbase and their feedback is center of the my building spree and moc career. So going foward every model will have gen 3 instructions, and i will take more time perfecting designs. So in the new direction my mocs will be hopefully much better than some of my previous slop. Yes, like the 42213 upgrade with bad instructions or the 8043 mini model which didn't look like the 8043. So while i can be a rubbish designer, i'm still passionate about my model. And i do really want my models to stand test of time. And hopefully look really good on technic display case without compromising functionalty. So the next model will be the true flagship. And since my fanbase is center of my operations. I will work hard to deliver you a product which doesn't suck, and will have the premium brick brand level of quality controll. And the year in the eurobricks has been a really massive good learning tool for me. And my current building skills are unrecognizable from my childhood years moc designs. So i do really care about your support and feedback, i might not be the perfect human being. But we can always improve. And with these words, i'm really gratefull of your support and suggestion. So my words cannot describe how happy i'm to be part of this community. So big thanks to all of my loyal fanbase members, and stay tuned for my newest moc adventures:).
