People are extracting the wrong message from my comment. Yperio said it best. Prelims for kid’s 200 piece playset may be complete for a while before release. But UCS sets? Probably not. -

Well I think it’s a combination of the two, they have models for everything, and they take several months if not longer to finalize. But the idea that they sit on finalized models of the biggest sets for several months before production and release doesn’t seem to be true based on interviews, which is the point of the original comment. -

Something interesting I read about the development for the 2020 MBS Cantina is that they designed the final model in 5-6 months, and it was based on prelims that date all the way back to 2016, but of course the final product changed a bit. The designer also said he was responsible for the landspeeder that came out in January 2020, which he finished before starting the final build of the cantina. Of course, the cantina is “only” 3100 pieces and not as ambitious as some of these UCS sets but I think it’s fair to say that no one knows what the final product will look like until just a few months before full production and release. -

Tbf that’s what this year’s shock/plain battle pack is. These figures hit on multiple IPs, ROTS, TCW, TBB, even Andor. -

To be fair they were last represented in 2019 sets, albeit in the old, pre-2020 angry clone style. I think next year’s ROTS anniversary would be a good excuse to see them again. -

It’ll likely come with the 41st. I know it’s a far cry but a UCS turbo tank would be my dream set next to an MTT -

This is not confirmed That piece count makes me more optimistic that we’ll be getting a more MBS-style set with an interior and figures. The original 6,000 piece count from the survey sounded absurd. ~4,000 pieces sounds ideal to make a large, but not overwhelmingly large minifig-scaled Khetanna with enough hollow space inside to reenact scenes. I also don’t believe Lego would be putting out complementary play sets like the skiff/sarlacc pit to sit alongside an empty hunk of brown. -

I wonder if they pushed that set to this year or cancelled it altogether. The Palace itself would make for an amazing MBS set. -

LSW has been more and more ambitious with adding interiors in their minifig scale UCS sets, from the UCS Falcon in 2017, to the massive usable space in the AT-AT, and the surprising amount nooks and crannies in the recent Razor Crest. It would be a wild regression for them to revert back to no interior, it would be like a set from the mid 2000’s. -

These speculations are based on comments from foggyfate, who has seen prelims that we haven’t seen, leading him to claim that we may get little to no interior. Admittedly, it is still far out, but it’s not baseless. I hope we’re wrong. -

No one is saying that, it’s all been spoken about as a hypothetical. The fact that Lego hasn’t done a single huttslayer Leia figure since 2013 is strange, though (along with other decisions like avoiding the Slave I name in favor of Boba Fett’s starship). We won’t know for sure until they either make one, or make a public comment on why they can’t. -

It’s beyond frustrating that Disney’s absurd puritanical standards have the potential to deprive us of great sets and figures. What a waste of creative potential if THIS is what prevents us from having an interior in a Sail Barge. -

Lego just released a female CMF with a sports bra and chiseled abs. There should be absolutely no restriction on a making a Huttslayer Leia, especially in an 18+ set. -

Yeah I’m not buying the rumors, it must be based on incomplete prelims, it’s only January, the set isn’t close to full production yet. The sail barge, even at figure scale, doesn’t need the interior support that an ISD or Venator require. It can be almost completely hollow. No one would buy a $600+ barge without an interior. -

Hope it’s also for the Barge, the timing of the mould and set are just too good -

So did that max rebo figure “leak” from last year have any relevance to the sets this year? Perhaps from the upcoming UCS set? -

Is it possible there is one more diorama remaining that will be a store exclusive? And that’s why we don’t know it yet? -

He also said he heard the sail barge is on the cheaper side which would conflict with the initial leak of it being $600 and 60 cm long (which sounds absurd). I do think making it twice as long as the playsets is more than enough to capture the necessary detail while also not being so big that the interior is only structural support -

LSW isn’t original, they didn’t make something as niche as the coruscant guard gunship because they thought it was cool and unique as they explained in the designer interview, they did it because micro galaxy squadrons did it earlier. -

Are we really only getting one diorama this year? Are they done with the theme? -

Hopefully it wasn’t canceled and just moved to this year. But again, if you’re not going to give the barge an interior, don’t even bother doing it at all at a minifigure scale. A midi scale would accomplish the same thing without being a huge paperweight. -

Yeah I’m inclined to agree here. This isn’t a throwaway midi scale or cheap playset, it’s your flagship $600+ enthusiast model, I hate to be the armchair businessman here, but no one is asking for a giant sail barge that only offerings exterior surface details, it’s just not that interesting a ship without the characters that bring it to life. They’ve always been the appeal. But again, I think we are working with very limited information here, I don’t think Lego is this careless. -

Now that I think about it, releasing a sarlaac playset to pair with a sail barge that isn’t remotely interactive or playable makes zero sense. I really think we’re working with limited info here painting the wrong picture. -

Unless there’s been new prelim photos of the sail barge, I’m not sure how we could know it doesn’t have an interior just by looking at the outside of the ship. The leaked image from last year looks like it could easily support a spacious interior.
