Heroica RPG - Quest #30: Ambassadors to Dastan
Tanma replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
IC: De'kra glances at the weird knight, at the least glad that the sentinel position has been engaged. "Loren has prisoner too," pointed out the echo, "so he must not be allow to move either. I will fight him just in case all attacks on Lucan fail. Hopefully attacks will succeed though." The echo leapt to the front with the others, Kapura radiating in his hand. -
Well Quest 4 introduced the Lion Knights and Brobric Elves, the war between was fought in Quest 17. Since the Lion Knights factor greatly in this quest, I count those quests as prequels to the trilogy. And Quest 7 introduced Wren, while Quest 19 went deeper into her motives. Since she is involved, I connect them to this adventure as well. Finally Quest 18 is linked by a journel we in Quest 29 found. So unless there are other quests I missed, that is a total of eight quests, five used to set up the trilogy. The first leg part refers to hinted future Wren quests, as I am unsure what they contain.

Wow, I just realized that the final battle of Dastan has already lasted 40 pages! What a great way to end an eight quest long saga! (or at least the first leg of the saga.)

...what, no love for Nerwen?

IC: De'kra nodded as he got up. The echo trembled slightly as he caught sight of Luke, but he had greater concerns to face. "Sorry, I not fond of light.," he clicked, "...not any more. I will attack Loren this round, hopefully I can enact some damage even from back row." De'kra grasped Kapura like a bear trap, clinging the blade as best he could. -
Oh, okay, I misunderstood the lay out. I assumed the special damage inflicted to the heroes was being stunned, not thatthe spevial damaged was nulified by a stun. Thank you for correcting me.
-
Okay, Skrall is ahead of me in the order, but won't I have taken special damage from the next fighter down? Which I think is Lucan?
-
So is De'kra stunned or not?

IC: De'kra slams against the wall, as Lamorak knocks him back. The echo winces as the hard wall embraced his back, sending waves of pain through his body. As he lay stunned, the echo stares with relief that at least all was not in vain, for Skrall managed to slay Lamorak with a powerful blow. And even in the east and west corridors other heroes proved triumphant over their opponents. The battle's end might soon be upon them. IC: as De'kra charged at the foe, Skrall's attack slammed into Lamorak like a giant metal column. Before De'kra could strike a new target, a blinding light illuminated the battle. As the light touched him De'kra's whole body trembled, and he fell to his knees. Over and over he whispered something, shaking again and again. By the time he recovered, the round was over. -
...any particularly reasons my actions this round weren't listed? Or am I just blind?

IC: "Creatures keep coming, reaching within." De'kra leapt forward, diving past the many clashing blades of the fighters. "Stealthily they climb from the dark. Yeah, yeah." The echo darted through the many combatants, even as Tarn began to slam his way through the leaders. The echo gave a quick nod at the barbarian as he passed by, a wordless appreciation. Now De'kra was situated right behind his target. "Searching for wisdom, searching for truth. Show us the things you can do." De'kra lunged forward, thrusting Kapura into Loren's neck. The blade unleashed a burst of flame as it made contact with the knight, causing embers to dance. Even as the blade made contact, the echo twisted his legs against Loren,s chest piece. Then with a mighty push he threw himself backwards, away from the foe. "Maybe it's all up to you." As De'kra landed back with the rest of his allies, he looked them over. The heroes might not have been as successful this round, but they still stood strong and ready for further combat. The echo clicked, "Great work heroes we are push them back. Nerwen, good luck in revive others. I worry about Flavius, but I can understand not heal him, since time is limit. Besides, one more Phoenix Essence is available? In meantime, heroes need powerful fighter to take on Loren. I only dealt good damage because of critical hit, heroes need fighter whose lowest hits are strong to beat his defenses." As he finished speaking De'kra returned to the back row, and readied to target Lamorak. The echo held Kapura steady, ready to drive the dagger at the foe. -
So I have finally updated De'kra's image, hopefully it follows all rules. Its a little...blurry, but I think it suits him. Besides all the other pictures I get of him have a big glare mark on his face.

IC: "Tension is rising, gravity hurts. Everything's falling apart." De'kra dived beneath a Pikeman, rolling through his attack. As the echo moved to swipe the foe, he bore witness to Xander, pounding the foe into a mangled mess. The echo deeper his head in thanks, before running to aid elsewhere in the fight. "Choosing the right side, Choosing our faith," As the echo slide through the battlefield, a pike thrust at him. The echo ticked into a ball and spun beneath the attack, narrowly avoiding the strike. As he turned to face the opponent, a bolt flew through the foe's back. De'kra turned to spot Denerii, who was already taking to the air. "Choosing is what we must do. Everyone is counting on you." De'kra watched with shock and relief as Xander whipped through the horde, his club an extension of his whirling body. Foes flew left and right, just as Nerwen began to sing her song of healing across the battle. In a mere second, the tide of battle had completely shifted. "For freedom we rise. Learn to fly, reach the sky, legend will carry you thousands of miles. Take a stand, hold the land, make sure that everyone's ready to win. Find the speed, all you need. Team up for battle. We fly...fly..." De'kra weaves through the crushed wave as hero upon heroe struck back, their bodies flying upon the puddle of foes like an avalanche. And with a great leap, De'kra flew with them, piercing deep into Lucan. As the heroes stepped back, only the enemy leaders remained, broken and beaten. The war was not over, but the sense of doom had left De'kra. This was not like the death of Constance, nor the fall of Metru-Nui. No, this was a battle. "We fly," he echoed, as he turned his attention to the remaining foes. "Heroes who still possess Phoenix Essences," clicked De'kra, "see if you can make it past foes. Heroica Heoes tend to recover from battle, but I not sure about Phil or Flavius. They might die after this battle. So please, see if you can heal them, while rest of we take out these warriors." As hope sprung eternal, the echo turned to attack Sir Loren from the back row. As De'kra flipped Kapura back and forth in his hands, he heard the first voice comment with a calm good natured tone: -

IC: De'kra could feel the effects of Loren's blade washing off of him, even as the swarm barreled down upon the defenders. The storm was upon them now, all that was left was to wait it out. Grasping Kapura with as much defiance as he could, he moved to attack Rogue Lion Pikeman C. As the echo stood as strong as he could with his back against the wall, De'kra noticed a song beginning around them. Only as the first blades impacted, did he realize it was him singing, in a voice not his own. "Tension is rising, Gravity hurts..." -

IC: De;kra nodded as the wave of the foes readied to meet the heroes in battle, before clicking, "I would be will to use Remedy on Lewa if Nyx and Lewa trade Scroll." OOC: What edit? -
A fair point, as I submitted the post it dawned on me that doing so might be the preferrable action. I suppose I could remove the post here, and send a copy of the message over private messages. Yeah I think I will do that.
-
I know that is a possibility, so I double checked while typing the post. The NPC in question also dons the same clothes save the hat, odd for someone with so many unique NPCs. The communicationg solely by chirping was quite honestly what swung it past coincidence for me. Of course as I said it could be an Imp like Hybros, which would cover the face, size, and voice. But its form reflects De'kra move than Hybros, so I felt I had to make this comment

This post can't be found. So instead, here's a nifty quote. Its the bee's knees! "Sometimes a hero has to do something else besides beat the villains and come home covered in glory. Sometimes, he has to make a sacrifice so that a lot of people — people he's never met before, and who don't know his name — can live."

IC: As De'kra braced for the impact, he decided this would be the best, possibly last time, to reply to Arthur. "Yes...I would be will to trade I scroll for your repeat scroll," he clicked, "...If both of heroes and I sur...vive. It will ensure your repeat scroll not...waste." -

IC: There horde of attacks swarmed across the hall, their many pikes and swords like a dragon's maw, aimed to smash the standing defenders with their teeth. As his body quaked, De'kra clicked, "If anyone wants to try to attack enemy while they room away, now is time. It might not work, but for many heroes there will be no cost to try. I... not sure it worth remedying myself, since I believe it will expire by the time enemies arrive. Plus I would probably attack from back row anyway. This way I can save it in case hero get burn or poison." -

OOC: Excellent, I am awake for this. IC: The Echo raced south through the Grand Hall with the others, still trembling from the effects of Loren. That elegent Rito had fallen, the Dastan ally had fallenn, Galen was laying somewhere deep in the palace, that Ranger had collapsed, and the Metasmion was down as well. So many of them fell, and the enemies had both emperors in their captivity. How could they- De'kra paused at the words, still trembling. Finally he clicked, "Skrall, leader, Nyx, Alexandre, Luke, Count; you all have ways to attack from long distances correct? When heroes reach room where heroes and I make heroes and I final stand, you think you could attack enemies from room away? So when heroes wait for foes to reach entrance, you could try to weaken them before they arrive? It might be hard to aim and crossbows, but lightning attack or other elemental strike should work." -
Thanks for the lottery, I can't believe I won. Huh, I think I have a scroll Arthur is missing...

IC: De'kra followed after the others, hoping that the enemies did indeed intend to use the south entrance as their exit. Even as he ran the doubts from the start of the battle crept back into his mind, against so many odds how could these few heroes be victorious?
