I've spent most of the past year working on a large display MOC depicting historical events in my city of Charleston, SC, USA. Many pirates passed through our coastal waters and the two most famous were Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet. Blackbeard famously laid siege to our harbor in 1718 and left when given a chest of medicine. Stede Bonnet briefly teamed up with him but was caught a few months later. He was hung in Charleston in December of 1718. My display depicts both of these events happening simultaneously. Perhaps it turns into an alternate timeline where Blackbeard's crew saves Stede from the gallows. Other artistic liberties have been taken. Noticeably absent is Blackbeard's Flagship the Queen Anne's Revenge. He's currently using Jack Sparrow's Black Pearl to plunder, which is a mystery to all but his crew. Also Charleston's waterfront is depicted much as it is in the present day, with the exception of the street being cobble stoned instead of paved. In 1718, all of the buildings would have been different, and White Point Garden wasn't a park but just the sandy tip of the downtown peninsula. I wanted to construct the houses as they look in the present day, because they are instantly recognizable to anyone that has visited our city. They are referred to as "Rainbow Row" and are one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. I also wanted the option of being able to display them as modern buildings that are compatible with other Lego modular builds. The full scene is 7 baseplates wide and 2 1/2 baseplates deep. Rainbow Row White Point Garden Redcoats returning fire at the Black Pearl. If you hadn't seen it before that is @Marooned Marin's masterpiece of a MOC! Even Captain Redbeard couldn't resist this raid! Some custom pirates I made. Anne Bonny is on the right. Stede Bonnet meeting his fate. Reinforcements on the way! More quaint scenes up the street. Charleston has always had a bustling harbor. This ship was designed by MOC Your Bricks. I'm going to be displaying this MOC at Atlanta Brick Con this weekend February 8th-9th in Atlanta. My wife got me a Custom Stede from Minifigs.me as a gift. Yours looks almost identical. I've never seen the show the fig is from but I'm familiar with the actual person. Over the summer while we were all consumed with the Steve contest, Bricklink quietly ran their own little Pirates themed contest. I was able to throw in a last minute entry, and have since had time to expand on it. The Bricklink had a part count limit, so afterwards I created a second version with my favorite trans blue tile water technique. This MOC is an an original design, but certainly gets inspiration from the small land based Pirates sets of yore such as 6260 Shipwreck Island, 6258 Smuggler's Shanty, and 1492 Battle Cove. It features a cannon for defense against the pesky Bluecoats, a small cave for hiding treasure, and a hammock under a thatched roof for siestas away from the punishing rays of the Caribbean sun. I'm still quite pleased with how this has turned out and I've displayed it at a few conventions. Thanks for the shout out! I had so much fun designing this! I’d like to add that originally constructed the entire thing in light bluish grey to give an authentic rocky look, but it was rather bland. The black upper parts look so much better, with some grey “brick” thrown in at random intervals to give a crumbling wall effect.

Thanks for the feedback. The stonework by the dock is definitely not popular lol. I'll change the pattern and make it more rustic looking to fit in with the building. I'm glad you noticed those little details though, and stairs are a must!!! I have a lot of the OG sets from my childhood and it always bothered me when there was no way for the minifigs to reach the upper levels, especially on bigger sets like Eldorado Fortress. Hell when I created my remake MOC of Sabre Island I added a ladder on the inside that's built into the wall.

Thanks for the input. I can't say I'm in love with the roof either. I tried a few different things and liked the current version the best. Got any better ideas? I did add a barrel and a crate filled with liquor bottles to the front but they're behind the minifigs so they aren't very prominent in the photo. And I totally forgot to take a shot of the back. Steve had enough of evading Captain Redbeard and the rest of the Pirates while sailing his little sloop to and from the Imperial Trading Post. He wanted to make a profit off of those pesky Pirates instead of being plundered by them, so he sold his ship to the Bluecoats and built himself a little dockside tavern next to the Lagoon Lockup. While it may be easy selling sailors some rum, the Bluecoats turn a blind eye to law enforcement on this corner of the docks. Disputes easily turn into full on brawls so Steve must do his best to keep the peace. Clearly that is easier said than done with this crowd. Steve is quite proud of his establishment. Steve pours a drink for one of his regulars. Captain Redbeard sips his favorite rum while dining with one of his crew. Don't ever cross Captain Dark'n Stormy or you'll certainly regret it. This build fits right in to Sleepless Night's Lagoon Lockup MOC.
