QM Note: Was originally going to be 3 gold per 5 HP, but I realized that'd be a little bit too little: after all, they automatically take 40 gold from the pile per round - thus, I set it to 5, but didn't realize they cancelled each other out. I'll clarify it. -

QM Note: Say by the battle's end (when all other enemies except the mushroom pile have been killed) the Mushroom Pile has an HP of 104. I'd round that down to 100, divide it by 5, then multiply it by 5 to get 100 gold gained. Basically, you earn gold equal to the HP the Mushroom Pile has left, rounded down to the nearest 5. Don't let the Gluttons eat it all! -

For clarification, the Progg Lurker was the intended rare enemy for this battle: he had a 1/6 chance of appearing in every area thus far, but due to the basement's dark/musty nature, he had a 1/2 chance of spawning in this room. Rare Proggs are tough... but also drop sweet loot! Have at im', 48ers!

QM Note: How in the world did I do that?! Fixed. The party forges onwards, their preparations made and their resolves strengthened. They proceed down the hallway, deathly cautious of any assault their shelled adversaries may spring on them. Finally, they reach the end of the hallway, arriving at the pantry door. Reaching out to grab the doorknob, the door suddenly goes flying off its hinges, the party swiftly ducking to avoid the projectile. They turn to the now empty door frame, and take a step back when they see what was in the room - doznes of Artillery Proggs! The armed beasts begin to pour out into the hallway, demanding the heroes to halt and allow themselves to be executed. The heroes, having no interest in getting mauled by 60-something Artillery Proggs, begin sprinting back down the long hallway, the Artillery Proggs following in hot pursuit. Urgently the party spots a door and throw it open with haste. When all of the party enters, they slam it shut. They proceed to entangle the door in vines, sealing it off with ice, barricading it with rock, and bar it. Huffing and puffing from their mad dash down the hall, the party goes down the musty old staircase in front of them, the sound of the Artillery Proggs pounding and cussing on the door still audible. They find themselves in a dank, musty basement. A ravenous mantrap gnashes its teeth, a putrid purple smoke billowing from the center of the plant. A green-clad Progg covered in foliage carries a peculiar staff, a rainbow of ether rapidly ricocheting and bouncing around in the orb-tipped staff. The curious scepter seemed to dictate the Mantrap's movements: this Progg was most likely the one to have grown the foul plant. A pile of mushrooms sits beneath the staircase exit - part of Gary Reed's harvest! Perhaps this where the stolen mushrooms went? "Ah, it is you." "SHHHHHNNNNNNNARRRGLLLYYYYYYYBLEEERRRGH!" "Indeed, my friend. Let us make quick work of these fools. Come out of hiding - they're here! Four green Proggs carrying pitchforks emerge from the ground - as does a Juggernaut! The guests seemed to have not yet all arrived, however... A menacing black Progg with piercing green yes shambles out of the shadows, but even now the party couldn't get a clear look at him. The being seemed to be cloaked in shadow and veiled in smoke... the 4 spikes on his tail gnash in an unsettling biting motion, as if alive. As the bone chilling beast branded his massive claw at the heroes, they could tell: this Progg was a rare one! Prepare for Area 3! The Basement Enemies "GRRRRRRRROOOAGGGGHHLYGARG!" Luoshian Mantrap, Level 25 27 Plant HP: 480/480 SP: 5 10 Immune to all Negative Effects! Specials: Tendril Transfer: Stabs the hero who rolled Special Damage with a tendril, stealing (hero loses, Mantrap gets) all of their positive effects. The procedure leaves the hero Badly Poisoned until remedied. Chomp: Takes a bite out of the hero who rolled special damage, doing 27 damage and restoring 100 HP to himself. If Progg Druid is alive, Tendril Transfer will be used. If not, Chomp will be used. Drops: Remedy x2 "Let's dance!" Progg Druid, Level 24 Beast HP: 380/380 SP: 6 Specials: Roots of Life: Heals 60 HP to all allies: doubled if that ally is Plant type. Also removes all negative effects from himself. Roots of Death: Summons up barbed roots, binding 3 random heroes and doing 18 damage to each. Specials decided by die roll. Passive Specials: Green Clawed: The Mantrap gets special buffs and immunities (in purple) while the Progg Druid is alive. If the Druid dies, those buffs will be removed. Drops: 15 gold. "So hungry... I could eat a horse!" Progg Glutton A, Level 18 Beast HP: 150/150 SP: 4 Specials: Ravenous Hunger: The Progg Glutton helps himself to a few Scarlet Mushrooms, permanently boosting his level by 3. He then attacks the hero who rolled Special Damage with his new level, stunning them for the rest of the round and the next. If no mushrooms left, reverts to a roll of Damage. Passive Specials: Glutton's Paradise: At the end of every round, the Progg Glutton will take and gobble up a mushroom, doing 10 damage to the Mushroom Pile. A die will be rolled to decide what effect it'll have on him: (1-2: The Glutton gobbles up a Scarlet Mushroom, permanently raising his level by one. 3-4: The Progg Glutton devours a Sapphire Mushroom, restoring 40 HP to himself. 5-6: The Progg snacks on a Green Mushroom, permanently boosting his SP by 1.) After that they will return, the Lurker having regained 200 HP and the victim Confused for 3 rounds (each effect can be removed for 5 ether or remedied) and their HP reduced to 1. Smoke Burst: Releases a burst of suffocating Smoke, Badly Poisoning the hero who rolled Special Damage. All other heroes have a 1/3 chance of being Badly Poiosned. The Darkstar once again tries to pull at my mind, but I drive off the foul words. The infatuating voice of the Darkstar was lost in a sea of my own whispers - the biggest of which being, of course, Sorrow. However, even though I no longer showed it, my death still replayed dutifully in the back of my psyche, always reminding about what I was - but I wouldn't allow it to tell me who I was. "Syntax. Get a grip." I nearly doubled back - wasn't it normally I who was saying that? Am I really slipping? Although the Darkstar was not fully taking control, it was changing me into something even more ugly then I usually am. I take a deep breath in, allowing the elf's words process. I fix my posture, my normally crooked frame standing tall. I relax and spread out my shoulders, and unsheathe my fan. I spread my feet out and face my enemy. Had Nerwen been listening to the "natural rhythm of the world", or whatever she did, she would notice my "disharmonies" subside then nearly vanish - replaced by a simple but sorrowful rhythm.
