  1. "Well, yes, but my greatest trick is "spraying water as strong as a shaken bottle of seltzer" not, um... teleporwarpotation, or whatver its called... I'm kinda of a novice, really. You're a mage too, aren't you? With the whole skull on a stick thing."
  2. Hoping dearly he wouldn't be reduced to ash, Terry steps into the ring with a small whimper. "You've done this before, right...?"
  3. Why is there debate over a completed battle?
  4. "I guess. Little humid, though..." Terry startles. "Oh! Uh, didn't see you there. Well, I know I'm Terry... As for who should be our leader, well, I think Kelim is the only one of us who have gone questing before, so maybe he should lead us?"
  5. Another boy, mch younger, walks into the hall. However, he is at least twice as confident as the previous visitor - perhaps because he was the one doing the hiring, and not the heroing. Current Sign-Ups for Quest #134: The Sky is Falling -Lind Whisperer (Lind Whisperer) "One... I guess that's a good start, but I don't think one will be enough to check out that meteor. But hey, better than nothing!" With a distinctly childlike optimism, the young boy walks out, having checked his quest posting.
  6. "I-I'll have you know I haven't yissered my drawers for a very long time!" Terry was, of course, oblivious to what the Dwarf was referring to by that statement.
  7. In regards to 115 being lifechanging, I'm assuming you're referring to the arm thing, Asphalt. I've had 2 people lose their arms in my quests now, along with 2 player deaths and 2 romances. (Whether the romances are succesful, well... We've lost track of the first, and the second are married, albeit the husband is in a constant state of depression.)
  8. Dammit, if I really wanted to make 115 scary, I would've just done it in comic sans...
  9. Yeah, that's why 134 is a complete step back from my previous work. There will be an exceedingly vague reference to another one of my NPCs, but its going to be a one and done. Meet new people, find the problem, end the problem, drink and be merry. As much as I joined hosting it, the Progg and Syndicate arcs were tough on their own. Tying them together for the Lifespark/Reaper arc was pretty brtual, and really not something I'd like to undertake again.
  10. Terry trail in the back of his group, constantly checking he had all of his hings in all of the right places, deathly afraid of the pickpockets he was told about. Wolfpack? Houndgang? Either way, better safe than sorry. Gold? Check. Potion? Check. Gem? Check. Staff? Check. Repeat every 5 minutes, until... "Well, we arrived. Do any of ya have any experience in this whole "hero" thing?"
  11. "Is she nice?-" The young lad takes notice of the ominous pop, and walks over, squinting his eyes to read the bright red text. "It looks like I walked in at the right time..." "Or perhaps a very bad one..." "Goodbye, and t-thanks for the orientation, I guess..." With a gulp, Terry left the relatively safe, albeit daunting, walls of the Hall and into Eubric, hoping desperately he wouldn't get lost like he did on his way to the Hall.
  12. Well, you have two in your party that I know of off the top of my head, and we have 10% of Heroica's quests between us, so there's an overlap.
  13. I'm suddenly tempted to be like Oregon Trail and just randomly go "INADEQUATE (insert thing here)", but that'd be a little too mean. Honestly, the first quest shouldn't be too daunting. Players are understanding people. Which brings me to a point I've been wondering for some time: Do you think quest hosting has gotten harder over time, QMs who have hosted 1+ times, and in what ways/why?
  14. "They wouldn't have mutton here, would they?" says the former farmhand, sniffing to see if he could catch a whiff.
  15. "Naw. I can kind of just shoot... well, bubbles, and tiny streams of water... at stuff. I used it to clean up the pigs 'fore I was sent on my merry way."
  16. "No, not really. I really liked tending the farm. I wanted ta stay there... But the family says a boy that knows magic like myself should go out and see what the world has. And by that, they said it was Heroica or bust.
  17. "For the, uh, heroing business... yeah, that's what I'm here for." He shifts uncomfortably in his seat. "Th-thanks." "No, I'm not a pig farmer... Not anymore, at least."
  18. That might've been the most hilariously cruel way I killed off a character. (Lynne, in the hall.)

  20. Several months ago, Lynne was enjoying a pleasant stroll through Triad park. The sun was shining, the birds chirping, the pleasant breeze rustling her jet black hair. Her staff tied to her hip, still content with her success in Dastan, she was immersing herself in Eubric's culture. Another group of heroes were not having nearly as nice of a day on that particular date. They were up North, in a castle of darkness, locked in battle with the villainous proprietor. One hero deals the killing blow, and the colossus succumbs to the pain and his new found mortality. With a sick pleasure, he allows himself to be cast to oblivion. His minions follow in his fatal footsteps. They topple like dominoes, their life fading, their minds crumbling, their bodies dissolving into nothing. His legions, some of his minions thousands of years old, crumbled to nothing. Despite her free will, she was still The Regret's. She takes one last step, and one last sharp breath. He brain shuts down, her heart stops, her blood dissolves to nothing. It happens so fast she feels no pain. Like a puppet with its strings cut, the poor girl crumples to the floor. It isn't until twelve hours later someone tries to help her. The town watch buries her into an unmarked grave shortly after. Lynne was no longer enjoying a pleasant stroll through Triad park. ----------------------------------------------------- The doors to the hall creak open slowly, the sound of someone very reluctant or perhaps very weak entering the hall. Or, in this person's case, very much both. The stench of dirt and cattle accompanies him, and the heroes with distinguished noses may notice he smells just like pig. Indeed, he was filling up the pig's food troughs one last time before he departed from home, his final chore before his career. He now found himself in Eubric, among a hall of heroes who have struck down great bests. The greatest beast he ever took down was a particularly large moth harassing the cattle. "I AM in the right place, right?" He goes and signs up for Quest 133, before taking a vacant seat, twiddling his thumbs nervously. Terry Yelnats, 19 Year Old Human Level 1 Mage HP: 5/5 Ether: 5/5 Power: 4 (+0 bonus) Gold: 10 Equipment: Cattle Prod Staff (WP: 3) Inventory: Potion, Sapphire
  21. See, I thought Ahrahmin was Sloth (because his thing was "stand on a pyramid and drink booze with my three smaller eyeball bros" ), but now I think he was Envy, no?
  22. Maybe 2 months has drained me of some of my Heroica knowledge. See, when I think Leviathans, I think sea monster, such as the one we summoned in quest... 43? (The second darkstar quest.)
  23. I don't believe that Leviathan is an archdemon in Heroica lore.
  24. My assumption was that each piece of treasure could only get doubled once, but if I'm mistaken, I much prefer UsernameMDM's.
  25. I'm assuming it can only double once? Lets look at the math: Assuming 60 rounds of battling in a quest, that's about 10 misses. (Not taking into account lucky.) If someone keeps a single pece of silver ore (50 gold?) in their inventory: 50/100/200/400/800/1600/3200/6400/12800/25600/51200 gold by the end of the quest.
