Terry looks at the man in annoyance. "...Did ya just call me lady?" He wasn't sure to be angry at Aristune, or dissapointed in himself. -

"We didn't see either of those. You wouldn't happen to have a map of your own of this place, would ya?" -

"Did you encounter anyone worth noting, Aristune? We've only seen skeletons, vermin, and some great big beetles - was there anything of note you encountered before gettin' the staves?" -

The bomb's sizzling stops, and it emits a pitiful puff of smoke, successfully defused. Warlen inspects the bomb and finds it was harmless - unfortunately, it also appeared it could not be re-armed, making it just a hollow piece of junk. <I wonder if it was the bomb that did it, though - I mean, if there was an explosion, there'd be ash and burn marks, right?> Vindsval gazes through the telescope, and learns something exceedingly valuable - the layout of the labyrinthine forest. Was this the sight that Savato tried to prevent them from seeing? Without this, they would've spent hours upon hours, maybe even a full day, shambling aimlessly through the forest... now they knew the direct path to the foot of the mountain. Would the party now go Northward, and proceed through the forest? -

"I guess you could say I know exactly what it is, heh." "It's my own custom blend of Eastern Crackleroot and sulfur imported from Terra Chima. In other words, a bomb. A very, very dangerous one." "I'm the leader of Sylvania's Thorn. And do not mock me by comparing my handiwork to that of your alchemists. Do you realize how much artificial trash they stuff into their half-assed explosives?" Savato seemed legitimately angry at this point... "No. This is my own custom design, as I have explained. Far, far better than theirs. I didn't want to do this, but you simply didn't know when to turn back." Savato tears off the odd jewel on the bomb and casts it aside, a stream of sparks pouring out, changing to a fiery red to a venomous green as they poured out. "Nice, isn't it? I don't think you'll be appreciating my work for long, though. And by the by - don't even bother trying to throw it away. Any sudden motions - like gravity taking effect, for example - force the explosion even quicker than its ticking now. Ciao!" With that, the figure vanishes into a cloud of smoke, leaving the party to disarm the device! Savato's Surprise -Above is the interior of the bomb. -A line must be drawn between each colored node, going along with the gird. -Every space must have a colored line over it. -No lines may cross. -No lines may pass over the nodes. -When every node is paired with its counterpart via a line, the bomb is successfully defused. ------------------------- The grim sound of the fizzling sends every into a tense state, knowing fully well that Savato's invention would be fully able to blow up their one vantage point, and fling them out of the tower. The destrcutve power of the bomb must be immense... Poe senses this, and enters the manic panic the rest of the party was struggling to suprress, fearing it may behis end. <Do something... DO SOMETHING! CAWCAWCAWCAWCAW!> -

The party heads around back, and, sure enough, the bricks fall with just a few pokes of pickaxes and shovels. Vindsval manages to tear a hole large enough for even him to squeeze through, and they find themselves within the confines of the old tower. Inside the main foyer, besides the accmulation of debris and plantlife, all there was in the room was a spiral staircase upwards. The party ascends... They find the main function of the tower: A telescope, aimed directly at the thick, dense forest the party would eventually have to push through. Before they can inspect or catch a glimpse through the telescope, they feel a rush of cold wind apparate behind them. A man garbed in odd, concealing clothing manifests behind the party. His gloves, robes, and helmet all seemed to be crafted from things found in nature. He had traces of mud on his clothes, yet he still looked a pristine white. Tendrils of moss go up and down his staff. In one of his hands he clutches an odd devices. "I left a warning for good reason." -

"So part of our mission was to figure out what was happening to the Falcon folk, right?" Terry says, crinkling his nose at the corpse's rotten sight and smell. "I-I think we know what happened to at least two of 'em... Poor souls. Uh, team? Think there's anyone alive in here, besides the monsters and us?" -

Vindsval grips with his single, powerful hand and begins to pull, tying to tear the chains off. He grunts and gasps, forced to stop as he begins to feel his shoulder about to dislocate from its socket. Whoever chained the door knew what they were doing. The party would need to find some other entrance, or area of weakness, to enter the tower... -

<Caw, just looks like plain old chains to me. Sturdy ones, though.> Poe glides over to the chains, perches on one, and pecks at the other with his beak. He squawks in pain as his beak makes contact, then flutters back to his perch on Vndsval. <Ow! They're tough alright - my beak couldn't even make a dent. Too thick to wrap around with my peak, too. Caw...> -
I axed Lynne for some reasons: A) Just wasn't really enjoying RPing as her. B) Too firmly rooted in one of the weaker parts of my quest's storyline. C) Continuing off of C, 105 established that Regret Dead = Minions all dead. (Bookmark is an exception, as he's literally just a spellbook Regret stole from daranza and wrote in. Bastard. ) I wanted to stay internally consistent.

The old sign was caked in dirt and rain, and was decaying due to many, many years of rough weather. Some of the letters couldn't be read, but the meaning was clear. "Pr-perty -f t-e Hunti-g Guild of Ul-nd" Vindsval reads the much, much newer sign. It read: "Fair warning. This tower isn't what it used to be. The structure remains mostly stable... But certain points of it, like as the roof and back wall of the base, are decaying quick. If you need to use this place as a shelter or resting point, go ahead, but exercise caution. -Miller" The door refused to open. -

The party forges onwards, and finds themselves standing in the shadow of an old, weathered tower. The once sturdy tower was now weather, caked in dirt, moss, and decay. Vegetation was beginning to creep up the sides of the structure, perching in the mortar of the brick, taking over slowly. Two notes are posted on the side of the tower - one very old, one new. Sealing the front door is some heavy iron chains, so recent they have yet to rust from exposure to the elements. With it, there is a note, written on the side of the tower with a still-wet substance: Leave this place, lest you join The Sacrifice. -Savato -

Damn, Scupperer is strong now. Give that to an AoE based class (cough Raider cugh) and that thing could have the entire enemy part absolutely buggered with status ailments.

Warlen's compass points north, towards the mountains. The party's furious diggings unearth various bits of bone. However, Vindsval, being the physically strongest of the trio, succeeds in piercing through the upturned soil to find the most telling piece of evidence: A very recent direwolf skull. Direwolf Skull: The remains of a direwolf. Whatever destroyed it did a good job... The skull has been stripped of any organic matter besides the bone itself. Will the party go Northward, to forge towards the fallen metoer, or Westward, to better assess the plight o the forest? -

The shattered stumps are arranged in an oddly misshapen circle, a blemish upon the lush forest. There really wasn't any rhyme or reason to how they were destroyed, but at least it was a relatively small area of the forest that got devastated like this... The path Northward seemed relatively clear, up to the point where it lead to the densest packed part of the forest.
