"Calamity, any chance that key you picked up could unlock that door? Looks fortified..." Terry goes over and sees if the steel door could be opened, but doesn't dare open it, lest giant land sharks came out or something. -

The destroyed trees were assembled in no specific pattern. There were skid and crush marks on the grass, perhaps from the same force that devastated this area. -

Terry rolls out of his bedroll, feeling better... despite his wounds still being there. "Where do you think we should go next? I've lost track of this place, admittedly..." Terry shifts uncomfortably... -

"We're from the Academy of Enlightment. We just recently started working out of there, after the death of a few teachers opened up a few, uh, spare rooms." "No... No, we haven't. Perhaps it could'e destroyed a major food source, thus the unrest?" <Up yours too, you prick, caw! ...Aherm. You can call me Poe. And, uh, I happen to know a thing or two about this area. before all the even bigger, scary monsters - like elephants that were somehow ON FIRE for instance - went off to live in the Fields of Glory, they used to romp around here. There used to be a Hunting Guild here, but something caused them to disband a looong time back. So long, my grandfather learned it from his grandfather's grandfather, caw. Some of their buildings are sitll hanging around. Let's shove off!> "Best of luck!" "Please, bring back Gregor...It's too dangerous for us. We'll hang back here." The party moves onwards, the biologists fading out of view. They walk under the thick canopy of the trees, flanked by deserted woodland, the beaten path slowly fading as the party forges into uncivilized territory. However, they stop when the lush canopy vanishes. An entire field of oak trees was just torn to shreds. It looked like a tornado came through - as if the trunks were simply torn off their bases and destroyed. What could cause this...? The party could head Northwards or Westwards. -

<How far away are the tropics? This stuff is too good to pass up, caw...> Warlen's shovel peirces the earth, and he hauls up one of Earth's many treasures: Fertile Mud: It must've rained recently! A big glop of mud. Throw it an enemy to make them Slowed. ...It kinda smells bad, though. "My name's Kelvin." "And I'm Maria! As you could probably guess, we're a couple of eggheads... We came here after a direwolf somehow found his way into the hovels. It seems the poor bastard went there out of hunger, judging by these other animals. Needless to say, after the Town Watch took out the beast, he sent us to figure out what's up." "There was - is, hopefully - a third member of our group, Mendel. He went ahead of us. We stopped to collect samples when that mob of animals reared its head, and after that, we got seperated. He probably just assumes that we're off inspecting something else, the old coot." "Wait - the flares, Kelvin!" "Right. For mostly uninhabited forests like these, we pack flares in case we get seperated... Look towards the sky." Kelvin rifles through his pockets for a bit, before taking out a bottle of powder and gas. He gives it a good few shakes before opening the top, releasing a streak of red smoke into the air. A few suspenseful seconds past, until another one rusts into the sky very close to the foot of the Barrier Mountains. "Gregor is alive... somewhere in there." Meanwhile, the bird catches the scent almost instantly. <Yes! thank you, thank you!> Unfortunately, though, we don't know the woods too well, so you'll be going in blind." The bird snatches the bana up and flies onto the offered perch, tearing into his new favorite food. <*munch munch munch.*> -

The bloodhound growls indignantly. <Enough of this! We're not going to sit here and let you feed traitors!> <I apologize, but we need to EAT!> <To battle, then... Friends! Caw-caw!> Having befirended the vivid fowl, the battle was on. The remaining animals lunge at the party, eager for a meal. Their stomaches shrunk and their ribcages nearly exposed, they were more vicious than ever... Prepare For Battle! Happy Mother's Day! I celebrated it yestarday due to some scheduling snafus, thus why you guys aren't currently punching wild animals. Expect to get to wild animal punchery today. Also, for the last time, The regret is deader than dead. If someone wants to make a quest with more temporal shenanigans, go ahead, but I'm done with that character. (For the record, the end of 99 and 105 was to establish that The Regret's meldromatic air was a facade... )

The animals here in #134 are completely innocent, and until further notice, there is nothing strange or out of the ordinary causing extreme disturbing the food chain.

Heroica RPG- Quest #133: A Walk Through The Parlor
Endgame replied to Asphalt's topic in The Heroica Archive
Terry recoils backwards as a blast of wind pours out from his Sapphire, tossing the spiders aside like pieces of trash in a galestorm. He grips his staff with one hand and pinches himself with the other. "Did you guys see that?!" he says with a broad grin. He coughs to regain his composure. "Well, yes... let's go south." -

"I imagine that, had the druid not been here, they would have attacked immediately..." "Think you can teach me how to do that?" The brightly colored fowl caws contemplatively, holding council with the other birds. <...4 potions and a banana, hrm... I always did want to try a banana... Consider the deal taken!> The animals growl and hiss, closing in, enraged by the Birds' treachery. Would the party make any last preparations? -
Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Endgame replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Leader (Any other suggestions for a name?) Requirements: ??? These able fighters are know how to use their situation to their advantage, and lead their teammates to victory. Additional Health: +7 Weapons: Leaders can use weapons such as Long Swords, Great Swords, Axes, Scythes, Clubs, and Daggers. Job Traits: Lead The Charge: The Leader does double damage when he is in the front row. Holding Down The Fort: The Leader takes half damage when placed as the last hero in the battle order. Diplomacy: (see Knight) Battle Style: Tactical - Leaders use their positioning and party to deal damage to foes. 1. Shield: Charge! The Leader calls all of his fellow heroes to action, and they combine their might to attack the enemy party. The Tsrgetted enemy takes damage equal to the combined level and WP of all standing party members. Any effects the weapons any of the heroes are using are inflcited upon that enemy, as well. 2. Coordinated Strike: The Leader calls upon the help of other heroes, doing damage equal to his level + his WP + the WP of the next hero's weapon in the battle order times two. (30 (Leader's level) +20 (Leader's WP) +25 (next hero's WP) x2 = 150 damage.) 3. Hit: The Leader does damage equal to his Level + WP. 4. Miss: The Leader's attack misses. 5. Damage: The Leader is struck by the enemy's attack. 6. Special Damage: The Leader is struck by the enemy's special skill. Figured I'd try and make a class with heavy emphasis on the battle order, and this was the result. Thoughts? -

"I'd do what the nice man with the icy sword says, Maria...!" "Oh, fine, fine..." Maria tears her eyes off of the fascinating specimens and run behinds Throlar. "Way ahead of you, miss!" says the frenzied scholar, running behind Annie as the mob is held at bay by the druid. <Some have fled, and may be bleeding into the city soon. Others.. near the mountains, clinging onto their territory amidst the madness.> <Those bookworm folk are our only potential meal. We have no intention of stopping our hunt, druid. Please, allow nature to take it's course - we're starving!> <I'm not strictly a meat eater like the others, caw... If you can find me and the other birds some grub to eat, we'll gladly find a safe tree to perch on and stop bothering folks...> <Traitor!> hisses the snake vehemently. If the party could provide the Birds of Prey with 70 HP worth of consumables, they would leave the scholars alone.
