So I've been doing some more photography lately after buying some of the latest sets, and here's the result. The first is a recreation of the old Episode I logo in the same vein as smokebelch's awesome recreation of the OT logo. I'm not completely satisfied with it, but it's as good as I could get it. I hope you like it. Lego Star Wars Episode I by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The next one is a group shot of all the bounty hunters from the Clone Wars inspired by the promotional pictures for Season Two. Unfortunately I don't have Dengar and Greedo, so I couldn't include them. Oh well. Bounty Hunters by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Since Boushh isn't part of the Clone Wars, she gets her own photo. She deserves it too. What a great minifig. The Mighty Boushh by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

Did Jabba's laugh ever sound familiar to you? Well, that's because secretly he's Santa Claus! Every Christmas Eve, he flies around on his Sleigh Barge, sneaks into your home, and eats your cookies. Don't expect him to leave any presents though. In fact, he's very likely to steal your droids and enslave your sister. Jabba the Claus by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

Here's a photo I made for Superhero Month. It's a recreation of the A Death in the Family comic cover. I was considering to enter it in the contest, but decided against it in the end. Yeah, it's annoying, but I don't think it's completely lost. Hopefully it will return in January as they said. I'm not sure I agree with that last part though. YJ is good, but I think I liked Teen Titans a little better. YJ is just a little slow for a superhero cartoon at times for my taste, and some parts of it tend to leave me confused. TT was fast paced and fun, but still had great storytelling and action. However, I don't think making a TT show that's all-comedy is a good idea. It might be fun too, but I really wish they'd just finish the darn show instead. All the loose ends from the last episode of TT bug me to this day! And even though the prospect of no Joker makes it somewhat unappealing, I'll try to stay open-minded toward Beware the Batman until I see it.

Trouble in the Streets of Gotham: Day 1
Oky replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Ah, 'tis a good day to fight crime in Gotham! But what's this? Villains among us? Unacceptable! Let us weed out this scum! Unless they come out and show their true colors, whether willingly or not, we will know who's suspicious if they keep quiet. -
Wow! Thanks for taking my suggestion! This is amazing! Great work on the face and, well, everything! Good luck!

Nice one, toutouille! I always did wonder why she was called Red Riding Hood. This gave me an idea for one: Under the Red Riding Hood by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Unfortunately I seem to have run out of superhero-related funnies for now, so have these instead: Nosey Voldey by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr This one could be called a Star Wars funny, but since the pun revolves around a licensed character, I guess it fits in here too: Tatooine is Sandy by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

Well, the MLP season opener may not have been as great as those of previous seasons, but it was still good. Quite frankly, I never expected it to beat those, seeing as they set a pretty high standard. I think the only thing that could have been better, as it has already been said, was the villain, who was hardly a character, but merely a looming menace as Aanchir said. After such great villains as Luna and Discord, a laughing cloud was quite underwhelming. I was hoping he'd return to his physical form completely by the end of the episode as he looked pretty interesting, but sadly no such luck. Oh well. By the way, kudos on having the balls to attend one of the meetups, Aanchir. Hope you had fun. As for the third episode, I thought it was funfunfunfunfun and I didn't think it was all that cliche. Definitely one of the better Pinkie episodes. That G3 face is going to haunt my nightmares for a while though. And is it just me or is addictingly catchy? Speaking of the Hub, what did you guys think about the Transformers Prime season finale? I felt it ended on quite a dark note. Can't wait to see the next season now. Also, did anyone watch the last episode of Kung Fu Panda, "Enter the Dragon"? I can't blame you if you stopped watching a long time ago, considering how forgettable the rest of the show is, but this one was surprisingly good! Sure, it was predictable, but it had all the heart and epicness that the show had been lacking until now, and a very serious and powerful villain to boot. If you liked the movies but were disappointed by the TV series, I recommend checking this one out. TMNT continues to be pretty entertaining as well. It's not as good as the 2003 series in my opinion, but not bad.

WW: "Hey, are you Catwoman? Batman is mine, you hear!"

You must be very hairy then. No, it's the same hole-shape that they use for all the exclusive figs. Besides, a ceremonial Chewie would look no different from a regular one since he never got a medal in the movie.

Wow, those DK Readers covers are terrible! The mix of CW-eyed, pupil-eyed, and dot-eyed minifigs is really odd and it all looks lazily photoshopped together. Not to mention that the ROTS cover is incredibly inaccurate! They really could have put more effort into these, but I guess the kids who these are intended for wont care so much. The Yoda book looks interesting. I wonder what it will be about and what the minifig will be. Logic would suggest a new version of Yoda, but the hole for the minifig is not in a Yoda shape. If it does turn out to be a Yoda, it would be really awesome if it was a force ghost version of him!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Just in time for the new episode, we rebel bloggers have posted our review for last week's episode. You can read it here. Because until we saw this preview, it seemed like this arc would be all about the younglings and pirates, with some possible Grievous vs. pirates action at the end. Seeing that we'll get some of the clone action we've been asking for for about a year in the next episode already makes the arc as a whole better than expected. Not good, but better. -
Very original! Anyway, great avatars, everybody! Keep 'em coming!

Trouble in the Streets of Gotham: Bloodbath Signup!
Oky replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, even though my last Gotham-themed mafia experience wasn't all that great, I'll join in on this for the spirit of Superhero Month! My sigfig is technically already a superhero, but even a space ranger has to follow the law which tends to get in the way when trying to bring evil doers to justice. Therefore, after being exposed to some cosmic radiation on one of his missions and gaining incredible superpowers, Oky decided to become a vigilante. Simply known as the Green Ranger (no relation to the Power Rangers character) he flies throughout the galaxy fighting criminals and the evil emperor Zurg by his own rules! His only known weakness is Mineral Z, a rare substance from the planet Zurg, which makes its way onto Earth occasionally in the form of small, purple glowing meteorites. To justice and beyond! -
As of today, SWTOR is free-to-play. Here's the official press release: Aren't you overreacting a little bit? From the sound of your post I thought they had decided to make Jar Jar one of the main characters in the new movies or make them in the style of the Clone Wars. It does seem like a bad idea, seeing as it would go against everything the saga has been about until now, but they are kinda right in saying that Star Wars without Anakin/Vader would be a bit odd. It wouldn't be implausible either, because if Darth Maul can return, so can Vader, but since he wouldn't be a villain anymore, I'm hoping that it's not Anakin under the mask this time if this is true. But these are only early rumors, so let's calm down and wait for some more solid information.

Thanks. And yeah, I only dabble in non-licensed themes, so I don't have Jack. Here's some more superhero fun for you! Yeah, I mean we're getting a D2C set based on it after all! Thanks, I might check CBR out some time.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Now that's what I'm talking about! Lots of clones, action, and Grievous killing people! Perhaps there's hope for this arc yet! -
Well, there's one more that comes to my mind: Mad Love. There have been two covers for it and I don't know if they can be considered iconic, but I love them both, not to mention the story itself, and it would be awesome to see at least one of them recreated! The second one is probably hard to do without photoshopping unless you build a large brick-built Harley Quin (which would be amazing!) but the first one should be easy enough. By the way, there is a nice article about iconic covers and homages here, most of which have already been posted in this topic (I'm suspecting def already knew about it ). There are two covers from that article that I'd like to repost here. One of them is Superman with an eagle in front of the American flag. Very iconic. The other is the first depiction of the classic shirt-ripping image on a comic cover. Doesn't get more iconic than that, although anything Superman does is iconic in a way. Probably impossible to pull off in Lego though.

I guess you're right about the visor, but they could have at least included a hole for the range finder. Rex is not the same without his ranger finder. Oh well, good night.
-
Well, the thing is that I don't think visors would even fit on that helmet due to those thick nobs where the holes should be. Plus I'm a purist, so drilling is out of the question anyway. Same here, but I don't see any reason why they didn't just do it like the Phase I helmets. What do you think the rationale behind it is? Perhaps the Boba face? Would make sense, I think. And yes, I'm convinced that it's just a matter of time until we get Jango.
-
Uhm, I'm pretty sure they're the same fig. I mean where else would they have gotten the fig? And the faces look the same to me, both of them. Which one are you referring to, the angry or smirking face? Because the smirking face is clearly distorted on purpose since she's raising an eyebrow. Well, it's as I feared - no accessory holes. And I don't think the mouths are going to be printed much lower, but I'd love to be proven wrong. Otherwise, this helmet is a fail to me.
