  1. Yay! Prize A! Darth Malgus! Thank you so much for this awesome generous raffle again, CopMike! Have a happy holidays and may the Force be with you, always!
  2. Perhaps I should put this next to my funnies: WARNING: Do not consume any beverages while looking at Oky's funnies!
  3. Thanks. I just hope that the quantity isn't larger than the quality. Here are some more for you guys: Droopy Ears by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Here's one with the micro Star Destroyer from Day 4: Star Destroyer by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr A dance this bad can only have been created by one being: Jar Jar! 4. I hope you didn't take it the wrong way when I coupled it with my funny in the blog post. It's TLC's MTT that looks like poop, not yours. As for Day 6, I actually quite like it. It's a vast improvement over last year's battle droid in my opinion. However, I'd maybe get rid of the cheese slope which makes the neck look too thick.
  5. Nice job on the angles and details, Doc. You certainly have an eye for these things. But for some reason I can't help but think of a brown, gun-toting Jabba when looking at that model.
  6. Hehe, thanks. I hope I'm not dominating them too much. Here's one based on the mini-model that came out of the calendar today: MTT Poop by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr This one is based on that infamous line from Revenge of the Sith: Absolute Nonsense by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr And here's one with the mini-model from Day 1: Gungan Sub by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  7. So many great entries! But ultimately it came down to which covers recaptured the awesomeness of the original cover the best, and these are my picks: 9 by Captain Nemo - 2 points 23 by The Penguin - 1 point
  8. Very nice! But I for one wouldn't have minded a nice miniland-scale rendition of the Gungan energy catapult. Oh well, this is great too.
  9. Thanks everyone, especially you, smokebelch! That means a lot coming from the one who inspired me to do this! Anyway, it's December, and to celebrate the holiday season, here's a shot of all the different Lego Santas battling it out to see who the real Santa is. 10. Man, what a lovely series! I've been following it from the start, and being a huge fan of The Animated Series, this made me all nostalgic! The scenes seemed to be getting better and better, and the big finale with that awesome Joker blimp and the beautiful, snow-covered micro-Gotham totally made the wait worth it! Great Job on these!
  11. That's great, Doc! I'm glad you're doing this again! And the first model definitely doesn't disappoint! Great work. Looking forward to the next 23 days!
  12. Well, the episode wasn't quite as horrible as I thought it would be, but that's because my expectations couldn't have been lower and there was no way to make it through this episode without not taking it seriously. Don't worry, you're not alone my friend. I wish it was that way, but as they said in the beginning of the episode, retrieving the encryption module was only phase 1. They still need to decrypt Grievous' message, find out what he's planning, and stop him. After all, we have yet to see (which I assume will be the next episode) and the , which might spice this arc up a bit, but I'm sure it wont save it. It doesn't look like the commando will be in the next episode, so I guess we'll have to wait to see both him and Maul/Death Watch until next year.
  13. http://www.starwars.com/explore/the-clone-wars/ep510/#!/media/trailer WTF?! Is this the creepiest character in the Star Wars universe and strangest parody of Q ever or what? I'm very afraid of tomorrow morning...
  14. Thanks everyone! If we solely go by absurdity, then yes, you're right, but overall, I much prefer the Supermobile due to the baffling fact that it's actually canon, and because it actually looks kinda good. I might build the Jogger too, though, just for the heck of it. Yeah, I know what you mean. I was trying to recreate it by placing a bunch of round 2x2 bricks on the background, but I couldn't get it to look right, so I decided to just leave it out. Thanks though. Good luck to everyone in the contest!
  15. Thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it. Really? Where did you hear that? As far as I know, only the episode after that is known, which is called "A Sunny Day in the Void" and is supposed to be "really abstract", so it doesn't sound like part of this arc. I see... but that interview is over a year old now, so that might not be his plan anymore. He certainly didn't keep his word about not jumping around the timeline anymore. Not that I'm complaining. If this season is any indication, they are running out of ideas for good stories, so I guess it's better if they stop after Season 6.
  16. Our review of A Necessary Bond has been posted! As I said in the review, I'm curious to see how Boba will get his ship back, but I'm even more curious as to how he will get his Mandalorian armor. Perhaps from Death Watch? And to answer Doc's question, I don't think the Yoda's backstory rule was broken. Huyang merely said that it was "eventful" how he got his lightsaber, but since this is Yoda we're talking about, that's no surprise. And since Huyang said that he helped every Jedi assemble their lightsaber, it already implies that Yoda was one of them. So I think it's vague enough not to break the rule. I think it's just one episode (thank the maker!), and while I would have agreed with you before seeing the preview, now I think I'd prefer watching R2 and 3PO's weird adventures than a pit droid following a loud, jumping slug into a crucial military mission. Where was it said that Season Six would be the last? I thought this show would still go on for a while. Well, to be fair, the show is indeed improving in some aspects, such as the fluidity of lightsaber fights and cutting down on pointlessly introducing new characters and vehicles, but the plots are getting worse and worse. Season 1 is still the best in my opinion as it featured episodes that showed what the Clone Wars is really all about: Clones, Jedi, and Sith, and the battle between them. Ever since, the show has been trying way too hard to do something different, taking the focus away from the Clone Wars and focusing more on civil wars and personal issues. This would be fine if at least half the show was still about the Clone Wars, but it isn't. In fact, the only story arc in the last season that seemed to directly deal with the Clone Wars was the Umbara arc and the Mon Cal arc. That's how I see it anyway. So to answer your question, no, this is definitely not the best season as we are almost halfway through and have yet to see anything of the actual Clone Wars (that stupid B-plot in the last episode doesn't count), but if you're enjoying it anyway, good for you I guess. Thank you for this deep and insightful comment.
  17. Yeah, I liked it too. I find that the CMC are at their best when they're not doing any actual crusading. Like you said, the subject matter was handled well, the A-Team reference was cool, and the song was fun, but then again I'm a sucker for catchy "bubblegummy" songs. Well, as they pointed out on EqD, there was a pony dressed up as Strawberry Shortcake, but that's about it.
  18. DC sure has had some bizarre comics in it's history. One of them is Action Comics #481: "It's A Bird... It's A Plane... It's Supermobile!" Yes, that's the actual title of the comic. The Supermobile is a vehicle made out Supermanium (that's right, Supermanium) that can simulate most of his powers. Superman builds it in order to defeat Amazo after a wave of red sun radiation cancels out his powers. I've always loved the Supermobile for its sheer absurdity as well as its retro look and have been wanting to build it, and this contest was the perfect opportunity to do so! So here it is: And here is the original cover: As you can see, Amazo is played by Jeremy Renner (aka. Hawkeye) in my recreation. The Superman logo decals were made by me and the engine detail stickers are from the Exo-Force set 7713. Here are some more views of the Supermobile: I hope you like it and wish you a super Superhero Month!
  19. Nice! This gives me hope that the game might still be released. I don't think so. They'd have to completely redesign the game for it. And even if so, why would it still have human microfigs? I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of game for Chima planned, seeing as there was one for Ninjago. Also, it would be neat to see a TMNT game, but that's just wishful thinking.
  20. Thanks everyone! I'm glad you like it so much! And that's hilarious, ADHO15! Oh, I completely forgot about that one. Sorry Legonater, and kudos to you, Luke_likes_Lego, for remembering that from two years ago! It's getting harder and harder to come up with something new, but I will not rest until every possible funny is made! So I hope none of the following have been done before. The fact that Luke is in all of them is a coincidence. 21. INTERVIEW: Erdbeereis Today we're talking with Erdbeereis, the newest moderator of the Star Wars Forum. He patrolled the high seas as a Pirate Moderator before joining the Star Wars Staff team, so we must admit that we don't know much about him. EBSWF: Thanks for talking with us, Erdbeereis. First off, how were you introduced to LEGO, and how did you discover Eurobricks? Thanks for having me! I hope that this interview will help the good people of the EB Star Wars forum get to know me a bit better. I have always enjoyed building with LEGO bricks; when I was little my family always set up our LEGO train around the Christmas tree and we built all sorts of things around that. My parents were nice and often bought me little sets. But I really started seriously around 2007, when I received a small LEGO set as a gift (4939 Cool Cars). For some reason, this set sparked a greater interest, which eventually led to what I am today. I can't remember exactly, but I believe I found Eurobricks when I was searching for LEGO websites online sometime in 2007. It looked like a good community with some interesting content, so I eventually joined. EBSWF: How in the world did you come up with the name 'Erdbeereis'? Are strawberries a favorite food of yours? And why did you choose the chef as your sigfig? "Erdbeereis" means strawberry ice cream in German. My dad is German, and I was born in Germany, so I've always had a connection to the country. I visit my relatives there every year, and there are a lot of great Italian ice cream shops. So, I thought I would honor my German side and my love for ice cream at the same time. Most English speakers always seem to think that my name has something to do with beer. One of the other things I love doing besides LEGO stuff is cooking (and eating of course). So, I thought the chef would be an appropriate choice for my sigfig (plus I always thought he was a friendly looking guy). EBSWF: It sounds like a strange question, but do you like LEGO Star Wars? We can't say we've seen much from you in this part of EB, though you have dabbled in building Star Wars. I do indeed like LEGO Star Wars. However, there is really not one LEGO theme that is my favorite. When I make MOCs, I usually try to build things from my own imagination rather than sticking to something that has already been created by someone else. For this reason, I don't typically build Star Wars MOCs. That first MOC there was one of my first ones that I ever posted. Truth be told, I completely forgot about it. I think it's safe to say I have improved my building skills since then. In addition, I'm not a huge movie buff like some Star Wars LEGO fans are, so I don't have that level of attachment to the theme. That being said, I do enjoy the theme, and I buy SW sets from time to time if they have some exciting minifigures at a reasonable price (this is sometimes difficult ) EBSWF: We know you're a mod. What's entailed in being one? We often hear EB staff members complain about their being tricked into accepting the job of being a part of the staff. I wasn't tricked, just brainwashed. As a mod I help plan contests and moderate the forum (keep discussions on track, move and merge topics/posts, let people know if they need to change their posting habits, etc.). Sometimes I check up on the EB Star Wars blog to make sure everything is running smoothly. EBSWF: Speaking of moderating, you were a mod in the Pirates forum for a while; does being a mod of the Star Wars forum differ from what you did over there? Good question! For the most part, the two forums require similar things. However, a major difference that I've noticed between the two forums is the type of members that post. To me, it seemed like most LEGO Pirates fans were pretty laid back. On the other hand, there are quite a few members here that are very particular when it comes to SW related things. For example, the frequent arguments about a model's accuracy, or the tendency to freak out when the Star Wars universe is changed in some way (case in point the Disney news). While these quarrels can be tiresome, it is nice to have dedicated fans and I think ultimately it is beneficial for our site to have people who strive for as much accuracy to the real thing as possible. That being said, I still like it when we can all just get along EBSWF: What do you do with your time when you're not playing with LEGO (or doing something related to the LEGO community), and how much time do you spend on LEGO related activities? Does being a mod affect the time you have to build? There are many things that I enjoy doing besides LEGO. I love playing sports like golf, soccer, basketball, football, anything really. As I said before, cooking is another thing that is fun for me. Especially trying out new dishes, and making creative and unusual things. I've recently been doing a lot of desserts, such as creating sorbet recipes and making cookies. Here are a few of the things I've made recently. Frozen mango parfait Macaron cookies Mandarin orange cake Sponge cake with buttermilk sherbet Mango sorbet with cherry sauce Pad Thai I also do a lot of traveling; I've been to 13 countries so far in my life, and I hope to visit many more. Finally, I play drums and piano. There aren't enough hours in the day to do all those things, but I do my best! It all depends on my schedule and the time of year when it comes to how long I spend doing LEGO-related activities. I definitely wouldn't say more than a few hours a week, but in the winter I do a lot more since I can't be outside as much. EBSWF: You're an AFOL, certainly not uncommon in the LEGO community, but what do 'normal' people think of that? I don't necessarily advertise my love of LEGO to the world, but I do enjoy showing my friends and family the things I build, or talking about interesting things going on at Eurobricks. The people I share things with usually think it's fascinating to see the many things one can do with LEGO bricks. EBSWF: Finally, do you have any plans for future projects in the Star Wars forum? Well we will just have to wait and see won't we? I can say there is an exciting event in the works for the near future, but that's all I will say for now.
  22. I know how you feel. And yes, it was. Hondo has been rebuilding and repainting it after Aura Sing crashed it near his base at the end of Season Two. So it is Hondo who we have to thank for that Boba is driving the ship that we all know and love in the OT. Just another thing that makes him awesome. I'm going to hate this episode, aren't I?
  23. Don't blame me that you always get coal. You're the one who always says that "what you do isn't very nice."
  24. Yay! Thanks to everyone who voted for me, and thanks to Pepper for this nice themed month, despite the hiccups! And nice work to all the contest entrants. I'd like the green tag please, to replace my tag from the previous themed month, the pink Friends ribbon.
  25. Aw man, you took me out of the game? Oh well, it's my own fault, I guess, for being so busy the last couple of days, but to my defense, it was a bit unfair to start the game on Thanksgiving. If I had known that, I probably wouldn't have signed up. I'm very sorry about this. Oh well, falling into a hole is not as bad as getting killed I suppose.
