  1. Has he indicated if he’s going to put plans on rebrickable? That project has turned out amazing for sure.
  2. That was a lucky casually opening the browser ten minutes early. Order is in, can't wait!
  3. Every time I see Ice Planet I'm reminded how badly I want them to revive that theme. Even the minifig on its own as a CMF or in a small GWP.
  4. End of the day everyone getting annoyed at the GWP running out of stock (rightfully so), the real crime here is that it was a GWP in the first place. The product is 100% complete and ready to sell, it would have done so much more for the castle theme if they'd just put it on shelves for a year instead.
  5. That wasn't a bad strategy at all. I ended up buying the Ferrari during the first GWP run and instantly regretted it as I haven't built any of the 1:8's so far. With this price increase maybe I can split the difference and sell it along with the other three. I'm approved for Bricklink selling just haven't done anything with it yet.
  6. I wonder if they sold more in the first run than we're giving credit for. I know the rumors of it returning in August were already out there before the first run, so that suggests Lego probably know they wanted to run it twice and produced enough for that. In which case it might make sense that sales were so strong in the June run that there just wasn't much left for August. Combined with the sheer number of sets that launched last night....I would assume its over and out. At the end of the day its a free market and the product was limited supply, we all had our chance. Lego doesn't owe us anything.
  7. I can only hope they set a bunch aside for the castle release, but man who knows. A lot of licensed sets launched this morning so it could just be they sold that much stuff too, I had to sit in the lego "waiting room" for the first time ever but I did get the hideout about 20 minutes past launch. They've also completely removed the Forest Hideout adverts from the offers page. Not sure if they do that when things go out of stock or if theres maybe a technical glitch? Either way, crazy that it was easy to find on the first run and is gone in a few hours on the second. Doesn't add up.
  8. Agreed that variety is important between factions but my favorite mini's are generally: * Mounted knights: Great helm, ridged pauldrons, round shield with stud, and an extended lance * Knights on foot: Great helm, cape, larger triangle shield, great sword * Archers: Kettle helm, quiver, bow * Guards/footmen: Standard conical helmet, spear/sword/axe, small triangular shield
  9. ^^ Word. I've got just about half the price covered with VIP points so I'll get it day one. Knowing me I'll buy at least one more but that'll be a double VIP day for sure.
  10. I don't know what happened. Today they just feel like they make the mini's too "fat", while the shoulder armor and sleeker updated helmet looks a lot more agile for battle I guess. The visor/breastplate still have a place in my displays but its more jousting digs than anything else now. Edit: Speaking of dark ages, mine started in 1999 when I was 13. The fade out started with the Fright Knights, they came out and I just didn't like them - felt too "halloweeny" for my collection. My last purchase was a small Adventurer's polybag (raft), and I remember thinking how ironic it was that I built probably hundreds of X-Wing's as a kid, and just when I lose interest in Lego they come out with a Star Wars theme. I bought a few random sets after university (mostly technic), but the Blacksmith is where I finally dropped my guard and dove back in. Pretty bummed that I missed out on the Kingdom's and LOTR Lego and some pretty desirable CMF's.
  11. I voted 6086 mostly for nostalgia, but the thing that really sold me on that set as a kid was that it included not one but two flip up visors! 8 year old me was obsessed with those helmets and breast plates. Which is interesting, because I kind of don't like either of them now, much prefer the updated full face helmets and shoulder armor shipping with the BF's. Btw, has anyone done a AFOL version on 6086? I always wanted to, maybe give that a try come winter. Rebuilding the raised baseplate would be a nice challenge I think.
  12. 1. Only buy stuff that fits in my fantasy/castle world, which is loosely based on DnD/Forgotten Realms. So basically castle sets and a few Harry Potters (i.e. Hungarian Horntail). Thank god I have no interest in City/Star Wars, my bank would be calling me every day if I went down that path. 2. No duplicate sets without a very good, explicit reason (i.e. Rebrickables). Usually the only reason for a second set is for more minifigs/accessories (cheaper to go to Bricklink), or investment (not my game). 3. Recycle those boxes, zero reason to keep them once the seal is cracked.
  13. Folks....one week left. I'm like a kid at Christmas.
  14. This reminds me of the archery targets, of the dozen or so I have probably half of them the middle ring is off center; the other half are perfectly aligned. They would have all come from Blacksmiths and 3/1 Castles purchased direct from Lego North America.
  15. Yup Brick Clicker also confirmed Aug 1-15. Some Pirate treasure thing on starts on I think Aug 4th too, but $50 purchase so it'd be a smaller thing. So guess I'll have two more Hideouts, one with a couple viking ships on Aug 1 and one with the castle on Aug 3
  16. Anybody else see there's another 3x3/1 alt build on Rebrickable? Heavily influenced by 10305, I like it. I'm not the creator I just really like it. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-117304/tibipl/black-falcon-knights-fortress-3x-31120-alternate-build/#comments
  17. I managed to get six and they've been sold out every time since. And the Bricklink store in my city that was selling 70 a couple weeks ago has 150 today....I love Bricklink but f*@$#* that greedy piece of s$&%.
  18. I believe the first and second heads at least are recycled - I have the first one (not sure where from) and the second is from the CMF Troubadour I think I politely disagree! I find those builds that have a ton of tiny pieces to create texture are just too noisy/distracting. In the same train of thought I don't really like the massive builds, like someone else once said - eventually a big build is just...well...big. I think 10305 has nailed the perfect level of detail in the walls, and the perfect size for a Lords/Knights castle as well. Just my opinion, Lego to me is about imagination and should always have a fun/fantastical element to it so realism is always secondary to me.
  19. I love that big blue in the back, what body is that? Edit: found it, harry potter 2002
  20. Thanks! It's a bit big for mounting in a castle, I figure its more the kind that would be built on site during a siege. I'm working on getting the studio file uploaded to Rebrickable so will post back when its approved. If you wanted something more tower friendly I ripped this one off of a picture I've had saved forever. Credit to an anonymous internet stranger, I've long lost track of who the builder was: Edit: Rebrickable link https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-117672/woodford86/siege-ballista/#details
  21. I really like the new Hungarian Horntail set (still waiting for stock at my store though), so I'm brainstorming a scene with Black Falcons fighting the big dragon. So last night I free built this ballista - ran out of the right colors so had to render it in Studio but I'm pretty happy how it came out. Just need to decide on the arrows - personally I'm leaning towards the first one (rigid hose and the gold spike with fins) but open to any ideas. I especially wish there was a cleaner way to attach the arrow head to the rigid hose, maybe a 3/4 technic pin? Source material was just this stock image. This is literally my first MOC post-dark ages that I'm happy enough to post. Open to constructive feedback!
  22. I’m not against cutting it, is the rigid hose truly rigid? Its important they stay arrow straight
  23. peter.g.keith has already made a massive expansion for it https://www.instagram.com/p/CgGrm9TozVF/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
  24. I don't know if there's some sort of rule against asking this here, but I desperately want to get my hands on Bar 3L's in flat silver...which unfortunately are only available in an old Great Britain Olympics CMF. So they're basically impossible to find AFAIK. Are there any other sources for a good color matched piece? I'm trying to get a couple dozen and willing to break my "no unofficial pieces" rule for this one...
  25. From where I'm sitting, a build is incomplete and I'll say it...boring...until you've filled it with characters. Thats gotta be my favorite part. But I also don't really care for the massive copy/paste armies. I like to keep things small to maintain visual interest. But thats all just like, my opinion, man.
