  1. ^^ Which is a big bummer, since IMO LOTR is more of a consolation prize to a proper castle reboot (just my opinion!). But licenses sell so I don't think classic castle stood a chance.
  2. Dude I'm just gonna say it, you need to chill
  3. I'll try to do that, just super busy at the moment. Harvest time on the farm!
  4. I always thought the falcon from the medieval blacksmith was pretty noble looking https://rebrickable.com/minifigs/fig-010923/knight-blue-torso-pearl-dark-grey-legs-light-bluish-grey-hair-flat-silver-shoulderguard/#parts And for a younger nobleman I like the Treehouse guys face https://rebrickable.com/minifigs/fig-008429/tan-torso-dark-brown-legs-medium-nougat-legs/#parts
  5. Oh boy…you’re the second one I’ve seen with that issue. Is this an August set, or are the pieces even newer? Mines fine so far but I just got my double VIP order thats going into my general supply. Really hoping those pieces hold up.
  6. This pretty much sums it up for me. I would rather see a large display with lots of buildings/landscape features, and then a whole pile of little scenes with +/- 10 minis. These guys are fighting a dragon, that patrol is rounding up some bandits, a band of forestmen are about to ambush the tax collector over there, is that a DnD party of adventurers over there? And on and on. That's just so much more visually interesting than filling every spare stud with another $3 purchase. That said, I have seen some army displays that were done very well (attacking a massive castle), but its difficult to pull off…I think it relies on using the landscape and smaller stories to break up the monotony.
  7. Yall just need to buy more castles, then the PAB wait doesn't matter Jk...or am I... something something sales stats
  8. Just saw that...very interesting, I like the head. Will definitely grab a few if its real, and wouldn't surprise me if DnD is on the horizon maybe? Lets hope he has a counterpart good guy knight in the series also! Somewhat related, does anyone know if there are any olive green large figs (hulk etc) with removeable heads? This head would look great on one of those.
  9. Have your VIP points been added to your account for this order? I got the shipped email also but no VIP points...to my recollection those are usually added before the shipped email is even sent.
  10. I think thats one of the saving graces to Castle. While minifigs and accessories are in constant need of refreshes/new releases, the actual builds just use a lot of generic gray/brown/green pieces. If I could choose I'd take a dedicated castle CMF series every year or two over a full blown theme revival. But I do like getting flagship sets like 10305 because lego designers come up with some pretty great building techniques. That said, I'll continue to buy plenty of castle sets just to support the theme if nothing else. I gotta agree here, I never understood the appeal of amassing 100+ semi-identical minifigs. I find if there's more than about 10 clones in close proximity it just looks copy-pasted. I try to avoid big armies in my builds and stick to smaller skirmishes, like 5-10 soldiers chasing down some bandits or something. My thinking is everything Lego is scaled down from real life, so the armies should be too. This is the one wildcard for me, I'm all in on castle but every once in a while I get the urge to get into space moc's. But that would mean a whole new collection as the only space stuff I have is galaxy explorer. Definitely looking forward to the Blacktron GWP next year (although I would have preferred Ice Planet instead! Jus' sayin')
  11. I consider my dark age to have ended a year ago, but I was watching Lego as an adult since probably 2013 - there was just never any castle stuff so I never dove back in. Fast forward to today and I've got...shoot...10 of each 3/1 castle and blacksmith? and 3 lions castles. Pent up demand is huge. Just wish there was a cheaper way to collect those older medieval CMF's, I get a little jelly when I see guys with 40+ tournament knights in a build. I fully plan to get a couple more lion castles over time but don't see why I'd want more than five total. So if TLG doesn't release more castle sets in the future...well, then I guess I stop buying new Lego again.
  12. If I were a betting man I'd say it'll be Bag End, which would be disappointing IMO (no castle potential there). Its a small location so they can get super detailed on it, it has most of the key characters, and its a bright/colorful/cheerful place which I could see TLG viewing as more marketable. And $500 puts it at the same price point as Hogwarts Express or the Colosseum, so minifig scale would mean it has to be a relatively small scene, and I *really* hope they don't do micro scale. Weathertop or the Prancing Pony would be great minifig scale ideas at that price point, but not quite as well known so probably unlikely.
  13. Oh nice I'll need to look into those. I ended up buying some inkjet cotton fabric transfer sheets and they work great, except the back side (heat transfer side) is glossy. Good enough for trialing stuff until I decide what design I want to use.
  14. Bump New parts added this morning, I don't see anything interesting though
  15. I’m really nervous they’re not gonna get a lot of submissions. Apparently the fan media day also said they’re using this to assess interest in the theme (according to Jays Brick Blog), so I really hope it meets the threshold but 39 days is just no time at all for most people to get anything decent together.
  16. An Illithid would be easy if this piece existed in purple
  17. I just read the fine print, we only have until November 16th to submit a design. Also this line: "Unlike typical LEGO Product Idea submissions, the Fan Vote phase for this promotion, which runs from November 28th 2022 to December 12th 2022, is intended to help the Judges gauge fan interest in specific designs, and validate fan excitement for the theme." Could there be more in store?
  18. I just had a brain wave, unfortunately I don't think it'll happen in the Ideas program but imagine a DnD CMF series? 20 different heroes and villains that you could use during actual gameplay. That would make Series 23 forgivable!
  19. Anything's possible but I doubt that, DnD's more about the characters, story and monsters than the location. So that makes me think whatever wins it should have some great fantasy characters included.
  20. Just saw this. Can’t wait to see what people submit, hopefully we get some great mini’s out of it! https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/e080b760-93c0-410d-bd49-5fc32726de9c Edit: Fix link
  21. So I bought Edge-of-Bricks' Cog on Rebrickable, and he includes a template for the sail. What are guys typically using to make custom sails? I know there's OKBricks, but that's quite a bit more expensive than I'm looking for at this time (I plan to experiment with a few different graphics on the sail). Is there a kind of fabric paper that is inkjet friendly? Or some specific material people use for plain white sails? I'm hoping to buy on Amazon as theres no fabric stores in my town.
  22. I really hope its not Barad Dur, its just a big boring tower...(and a lot of black pieces that wouldn't help my classic castle builds any) (just my usually contrarian opinion) eta: I think my main problem with Barad Dur is that its really difficult to make a black structure look interesting
  23. I love that tower. Reminds me of the watch towers in Warcraft 2
  24. I seriously doubt there’s much concern in Lego vs GW marketing (short of legal licensing stuff on Lego’s end). I’d be *very* surprised to find out that any significant number of AFOL’s have ever even stepped into a GW store, they’re just completely different hobbies. (Or more accurately, nobody can afford to collect both) Btw, now that the license is back here’s a good time to remind people this Ideas project exists. Not my build, I just really want it to get produced! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/c928192a-50a0-4c4c-90da-5224f92f1937
  25. I was thinking a Balroq similar to the new Bowser set would be kind of cool. Not on my wish list, but cool nonetheless.
