  1. It wasn't easy arrange all entries with so many great models but I really like the new voting system and hope it will also be used in future contests. Good luck everyone!
  2. Thirdwigg, 1gor and Maaboo the Witch, thanks again for your kind words and feedbacks. I managed to design the entire vehicle in Studio - after minor corrections model has 1067 parts: I also already have a graphic with the arrangement of mechanisms (without actuators): I will make instructions for this entry but I may not be able to finish it before the end of the contest.
  3. Thank you, I think that your project is the best (at least at the moment) so it will be fun to see the voters verdict.
  4. Great that you have finally join to the contest. I'm impatiently waiting for your progress and keep my fingers crossed that you will be able to complete the model until contest will be closed.
  5. Arctic Harvester Functions: Rotating substructure with cabin and main arm Opening door to the cabin Boom 1st and 2nd section lift Lifting snow plow Rotate ice-crushing blade operated manually or by vehicle movement with gearbox switching Working inline 6 cylinder engine Oscillating bogies suspension for tracks Pendular suspension for wheels Articulated steering All wheels (and tracks) drive Images: Video: Discussion topic:
  6. Final version is done! Thanks Thirdwigg and 1gor for commenting, your feedbacks mean a lot to me. Video: Photos:
  7. Thank you for the praise and also for sharing the io model so that I could quickly prepare instructions for my alts. Similar universal sets adapted to the current reality are on my wishlist (along with the return of technic minifigures and remastered 8480) from TLG, but that probaly will never take place. Agree with you, this set is one of the two large disappointments of the coming year for me (especially after this year's great mini sets 42147 and 42148). It seems very budget with limited functions (there isn't even a simple ripper). As a parts package it also doesn't look very good but most of the rest sets are much better imho.
  8. Very good alt. One of the reasons TLG stopped releasing B models is better afols alternative creations than official models. I also had some time today to build something for this set and here are the results:
  9. During the design process, an idea came up to attach a large saw to the arm: Tried building a blade out of bricks and panels with somewhat poor results The saw was too heavy and ineffective, so changed it to a much smaller elements. Blades can move with the movement of vehicle or manually after shifting the gearbox. Current photos:
  10. Thanks for the kind words. I'm still thinking about the functions and appearance, so everything can be changed. Thank you! I already have inline 6 cylinder engine and gearbox. The idea is that the crushing blade located on the adjustable arm can be driven by the movement of the vehicle or manually. After turning off the wheel drive it will be powered by the knob with also engine running. I also tried to add a warning light on cabin top but it didn't look good so it will be removed.
  11. Thanks a lot! Inspiration for making this plow was the same element used in Top Gear Snowbine Harvester: Thank you. Thanks for the praise. Hope you will also join to contest with some version of arctic tracked tractor or with something else crazy. In the meantime, worked on a preliminary version of the cabin:
  12. Finally there is something interesting under 100€ and looks like next year will be the best for me since 2019 (but also hard for my wallet). I'm especially counting on the forage harvester and space wheel loader. I don't have a motorcycle in my collection yet, so if Kawasaki includes new gearbox parts, it will be mine too. Additionally, may be interesting Mack truck and bulldozer, if this set includes yellow small tracks. So if the leaks turn out to be true, I will probably buy at least 5 sets in one year (I only bought one set for parts in the previous two years). However, I am still amazed by the decisions of the TLG management to release a whole group of similar models in one year. Last year we had a series of the same cars with only different shell, now it's time for space sets (which of course is still better than several similar cars). I'm afraid it could be end with poor sales due to cannibalism of the same products and a return to car design.
  13. Thank you. Limiting the color to orange in this contest is great for me because I have the most elements in this color (excluding neutral colors). Yes, good that you pointed it out. Maybe I expressed myself wrong but I meant that my entry loosely will be based on the type of chassis used in forest harvesters (gave the name Komatsu as an example). The appearance (completely different colors and proportions, tracked first axle) and functions (any real harvesters hasn't blade for snow plow, mechanism on the lifting arm will not be used for processing wood but for crushing ice) would be different significantly from existing machines. So I think the model doesn't break the rules. BTW, I was also thinking about making a snowbine harvester (like in Top Gear) but it would be difficult to design interesting functions for it. Thanks. Hope I can complete this project as planned and it will also remain interesting when completed.
  14. Hello everyone. Thanks to Jim for organizing another interesting competition. My idea for entry is modification of Komatsu 901 XC forest harvester. All functions will be operated manually, without using pneumatics and motors. Assumed functions: - all wheels (and tracks) drive - pendular suspension for wheels - oscillating bogies suspension for tracks - working fake engine - articulated steering - height adjustable snow plow - rotating substructure with cabin and main arm - the arm will likely have a blade that rotates as the vehicle moves or a gripper, haven't decided yet Photos: Snow plow: Current progress of the vehicle with the plow connected:
  15. A new leak has appeared (from terminalvideo): 42170 set will be Kawasaki Ninja H2R Motorcycle (successor to the Ducati Panigale V4 R) with 643 Pieces and RRP $79.99 available in 1st March 2024. Problaby color may be black or dbg with green elements and can use black shock absorbers from 42155 Batcyle. It is very likely that new gearbox components will be used in this set.
  16. More probably in this price we won't get any differential but only two-wheel drive (if the leak with this set is real).
  17. I don't think TLG will release a new set with a huge amount of new panels in rare color before using the entire existing palette. I would put a more common shade, maybe white Koenigsegg Gemera?
  18. Absolutely not! It should also be checked whether each participant has appropriate camera and completed a photography course (because better photos / film give an unhealthy advantage). This is not acceptable. Ideally, prohibit photos and videos at all.
  19. In my opinion current public voting system (old Formula 1 style) is probably the best with less than 15-20 entries. With more entries (over 20), it is impossible to select only 6 cool models (like in TC25 contest) so it would be a good idea change the rules voting to "+1 any you like" or "distribute X points among all entries as you wish" but only when there are more participants. For me, jury vote will always be fairer than an open vote. Even than, in the future competitions with only jury voting it would be nice to make an additional audience award (even without a physical reward) from rest of the entries. Is there an indicative date when the next competition TC26 can start?
  20. Congratulations to all the contestants and winners. The fact that I took a high 5th place in contest with so many great constructions is a reason for me to be proud. Thanks also to Jim for organizing the competition.
  21. This is impressive build and a favorite to win in contest. The similarity to 42082 is very strong, it is even difficult to distinguish the original set from the shrunken one without a long comparison.
  22. Another beautiful model from you that could be released as a normal set from TLG.
  23. Thank you! Sorry I missed your comment earlier so thank you now for feedback. After all, better late than never. Thanks. These new micropanels introduced this year really make designing easier and improve the look of smaller vehicles. I'm waiting for more panels in other colors.
  24. I think so too, in my opinion this contest has the highest level of models since I've been looking here. Every entry can be on the podium and it's very hard to choose the best. I'm curious if there will be a public vote, even completely independent of the votes of the jury.
  25. Third model is ready. This time I built a forklift. Idea for it came while choosing a set for the TC25 competition, I was considering 42079 set for shrinking but finally decided on a different one. Features: - Hand of God steering rear wheels - Inline 3 cylinder engine - Forks elevation - Mast tilting - Detailed interior and exterior - Pallet as additional accessory Free instructions available at rebrickable Real photos: Render with mechanics: Short feature video:
