  1. No, not too many mentions I can recall either. I had a pixie, Flix, in my first ever GOH CMF And later added a scene of him grooming mushrooms 😁
  2. I'm keen to build for Avalonoa again, although likely only sporadically as little kids have pushed the LEGO into the garage.
  3. Love this build, especially the vibrant colours and diverse flora. The small folk are a great addition to the cultures of Avalonia.
  4. Lovley wee build. I like the dynamic pose of the fish on the line and the splash
  5. Thank you! It is - two nifflers in fact, presumably having just rafted down the waterfall! Thank you! Really appreciate it. 🥰
  6. Thanks! It was good fun at the con - lots of little details to keep people coming back @zoth33, haha yes! I can up for the name right at the end as I thought my original GoH village name - Notomys - was too inaccessible for a con. The statues by the waterfall are actually intended to be the Alien Conquest villains. I'll see if I can find a pic to show that. @Fcrocks thanks! Alien Conquest statues Bonus shot:
  7. Thanks! Lots and lots of ziplines 😄 I started with a frame where the ziplines were all connected to the "espresso bars" on the base. Then I weaved more in and sandwiched them into place by a combination of plants sprues on the outside and 2x2 radar dishes on the inside. You might be able to see some here... I did that sawmill roof early on and it was pretty fragile. The columns holding it up aren't actually straight and use a combination of hinges and turntables to attach to the roof. Wonky but that's kind of the asthetic 😄 Thanks for the compliment on the rooves. I was forced to use the orange, flame orange, yellow combinations due to part availability. The initial roof colour scheme was actually set by the large Belville piece on the stables. Thanks! @Gideon introduced me to it. The way I used it, its basically MILS but instead of technic pins you use technic axles to connect the sections. This way you don't have to use as much force to connect and separate - you just gently slide together or apart. I used this video here. Thanks. The waterfall is closely modelled on LEGOParadise's model - credit where its due!
  8. Even the once quaint settlement of Notomys benefitted from the rebuilding across Historica that accompanied the coronation of the new Queen and relative peace. Modest industry in the form of saw and grain mills was supported by an influx of settlers from across the Enchanted Forest and beyond. With many struggling with the indigenous Jerboan name for the settlement, 'Evergreen Falls' became the more commonplace name. Build notes I displayed this MOC at the Wellington Brick Show, in September 2024. Its footprint was 18 baseplates (3x6), although there was also open caverns on the left hand side, so it was 20 in total. Based on some good tips from the GoH server on Discord, I built 32x64 sections using the Moduverse template from SweBrick. I had a few broad goals when I started the MOC: to have some mechanisms. Ultimately, there were 4 on display - the waterfall and sawmill powered by one motor and the windmill and a man cutting grain down powered by a second motor to have a decent amount of verticality, not just a flat scene. The rocky outcrop on the left helped achieve this, but I also incorporated two raised baseplates, which I find a fun challenge to integrate in a way that looks decent for a modern MOC density and at least some of it off-grid. While it cuts against the ultra-detailed style common in some of the best LEGO creations, I personally try to find uses for some BIG parts. The raised baseplates are one example, but the stables roof is a Belville mold, while the roof of the Adventurer's Guild uses Duplo roof pieces. I won't post them all here but there are close-up images in this album and a close up video of the whole build here. Videos
  9. I'd love to see some behind the scene shots of how you achieved that paved street!
  10. Love the hunny chicken! Excellent build, I am inspired to try an amphitheatre myself
  11. Thanks @GeoBrick let's hope so! Thanks @Grover. Yes, that was a lucky find - I hadn't planned to use the lion but it just worked so well! Excellent suggestion re footsteps.
  12. Thanks @Umbra-Manis! @Kai NRG, that's funny. I can now see what you mean!
  13. I love the little faerie folk. I still need to get some of the Harry Potter ones. I think the story explanation of the fairy in ice helps sell the part use by the way. Like others, I'm delighted to see you have an actual advent calendar that can be opened! Have you done all the photographs in advance for us online audience?
  14. "Sometimes a successful hunt is the one you can still walk away from..." - Avalonia proverb. This scene is set in the snowy Wizard's Spine mountains in the heart of the Enchanted Forest (which I've previously explored here and here). This is my entry for the Brickscalibur 'Capturing Character' category.
  15. My sympathy for Alrune is growing!
  16. And so it returns! Yay!!
  17. Thanks! I'll post an image below of the set-up, which has several sections of my larger MOC. Hard way to learn how much can go into an immersive shot Yes, there is a ship, a butterfly and a fish.
  18. Superb windows John, a real inspiration!
  19. Lovely immersive scene, and I enjoyed the BTS looks too.
  20. Years of dedication paid off when Lord Baldric commissioned Guildmaster John and his fellows for an elaborate stained-glass window. Despite showing off their best designs, the wealthy patron wanted something grander than they had ever attempted. The challenge was daunting, but the promise of wealth and recognition fueled their efforts; Martin, now a master glassblower, felt convinced they could pull it off. Notes This was my contribution to the Summer Joust collab with Geneva and John. This was my first time dabbling with cheese slope mosaics and I got quite hooked on trying to make identifiable designs for within those window frames. I was heavily committed to large MOC for an upcoming convention in New Zealand, so with time scarce I had to make sure my Summer Joust build could also be used in the diorama. Unfortunately that made photographing the build quite challenging as it wasn't really built for an immersive scene. Hopefully you enjoy and it was great to get back to participating in a competition. Thanks Geneva and John for the push! Please also see:
  21. Merry Christmas and thanks for the advent calendar!
  22. What a treat to see this calendar return! They are great illustrations that sometimes less is more, especially with a well-placed NPU or minifig design. How long does it take you to plan these? Do you plan it all out in advance?
  23. Many beautiful details and Easter eggs! Well done.
  24. Zilmrud - 2 points Adde - 1 point
  25. Flint - 1 point Kahir88 - 1 point Exetrius - 1 point
