  1. I really like the looks of the blue visor, it fits the color scheme very nicely. But that's just my personal taste.
  2. There are a few sets that I would love to get this year. First of all the Troll Battle Wheel, it's not only an awesome set, but it also looks like a very interesting and fun model to build. Then there is the Troll Assault Wagon, which is a basic siege weapon but still very nice. And if I can spare the money I'm so getting the Dwarves Mine, best source of some great Dwarf minifigs! Aside from that, I'll probably get some Impulse soldiers & Orcs to bolster my armies. All in all it looks like it's going to be a very VERY expensive year for me :-$
  3. Sure, I'd love to see some pics of your Castle/Viking layout!
  4. The person above me is in agreement with the person above him.
  5. Great find Wout, I really enjoyed watching those old commercials! *sweet*
  6. As far as I see it, it depends on two things: which theme you like better and what kind of army you would like to build. Vikings are essentially medieval pirates, disorganized and with an emphasis on individual warriors (hence the lack of uniforms). In my opinion this rather limits the size of your army, since you can only vary so much with the given torsos and heads before it gets repetitive and the individuality of the warriors is lost. The Crown army on the other hand is well organized, with the soldiers pretty much all looking alike thanks to the uniforms. You can vary slightly with heads to create some individual touches here and there, but essentially you can have an army of dozens or even hundreds of soldiers. Also Crownies have the advantage of being in production at the moment, which means they are easily obtainable. Personally, I like both themes very much, they each have their own appeal. However, based on availability and the fact that there is virtually no limit to your army size, I'd say Crownies are much better army builders. But as I said before, it's really a matter of personal taste.
  7. This recreation is stunningly accurate and beautifully done, I'm very impressed! *sweet*
  8. I don't know what's more odd, that yours came with different cones, or that mine came with the old style ones. I'm not complaining though, I much prefer the old style cones. ;-)
  9. Those look different indeed, are you sure it's LEGO? Luckily my Prison Carriage came with the old style cones.
  10. Actually, since both colors are pretty much evenly used throughout the MOC, the combination of bley and grey doesn't disturb me as much as it usually does. And the snow on the roof and the icicles are really nicely done. However, to be perfectly honest, on the whole I think the interiour of the castle looks much better than the exteriour. Just gotta love all those fun details inside! *sweet*
  11. Very logical deduction Tohst, you're probably right at that. Thanks DoubleT! At a price of around
  12. I have to agree with SirDillon, it's too bad that he didn't use LEGO exclusively, but that doesn't take away the fact that his creation looks absolutely stunning. If I were making a MOC like that and LEGO didn't have suitable alternatives for the parts I needed, I think I just might be willing to sacrifice purity in favor of a great design as well. But I'm glad I'm not facing a dilemma like that ;-)
  13. Great follow up SirDillon, I really do like this MOC :-D
  14. I'm soooo loving the jester and the wench!!! *wub* Got to get me those figs! :'-) I'm actually not that familiar with Advent Calendars, what can I expect if I should buy one? (What's in them besides the figs?) Are they worth the money?
  15. Alright, back to topic. Airplanes of this design tend to be a bit on the small side for my taste, but otherwise it's actually kinda cute, so I voted 4. And for about $6 it is very good value for your money I think! *sweet*
  16. I can see what the person above me means! 8-
  17. AMEN! I know what you mean. Personally, I prefer longbows over crossbows, but I'm not that fond of the fixed arrow design. I'd be very VERY happy if TLC introduced a new longbow design! (Would go well with Elves as well, if TLC were to introduce that faction into the current fantasy based Castle theme ;-))
  18. Provided that you already have at least one other member in your contact list, which probably doesn't apply to a lot of members here (myself included). A chatroom is open for all members, so everybody can join in and get to know other members they otherwise wouldn't have had much contact with. There is a lot to say in favor of an EB chat, but I also understand the practical limitations.
  19. Excellent suggestion! I'd would welcome the opportunity to engage fellow members in casual conversation and getting to know them better on a personal level. I think a feature like that would further strengthen the community feeling. *sweet*
  20. In my opinion LegoMan makes a very good point that not only applies to forums, but also to behaviour in general: people should show some more consideration towards eachothers viewpoints and feelings. But in this respect, the Eurobricks forum already is loads better than most other forums I know. Much of this is probably owed to our great team of admins and mods, but I also think people follow the example set by those members who have become such an integral part of the Eurobricks community. I don't know how things were before I joined, but in general Eurobricks members seem to treat eachother with a lot of respect and consideration, and it is exactly this attitude that makes Eurobricks such a great and friendly community.
  21. WOW, that's what I call a tank! Just gotta love how smooth and well built this MOC looks! *wub* But... what's a futuristic vehicle like this doing in the History forum? *wacko*
  22. Nice find! That wasn't there when I visited shop@home yesterday! *sweet*
  23. I think I saw a movie about that battle once (very long ago), it's nice to see a MOC of this historic event! *sweet*
  24. Getting a new job, the passing away of my stepfather, and last but not least: joining the Eurobricks community.
  25. Very nice MOC! I can definitely see the Disney influences you mentioned in the design of the castle, but as Whitefang pointed out, there is also something oriental about the outer wall and gate house.
