LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
AD_Bricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If LEGO consistently fails to sell sets at exorbitant prices (due to people waiting for discounts), they will have to revert to more digestible prices to improve sales. People continuing to buy things on day 1 at full price will only tempt them to push us further to see how far up they can go without a significant decline in sales. Edit: Just want to clarify, if anybody wants to and is able to buy sets on day 1, go ahead by all means. I definitely do so as well (though less often recently due to the increasing prices), but doing that definitely won't help us in our efforts to incentivise LEGO to stop putting up prices. -

Gimmick sets is probably the best label for them. You could argue that the helmets and midi-scale ships are gimmicks too, though they definitely aren't the sort of thing you could describe negatively as "gimmicky", so it makes sense to classify them separately. Could include battle packs here too but the line between them and playsets is too blurry, particularly with the recent "super battle packs" and other small-medium army builder sets like the armoured marauder. -

Rebrickable is also good for that, it's less comprehensive but I personally like the UI more, plus it helps with making MOCs and alt builds. -

Oh, absolutely, that piece is soooo overused. I have it on 7 different figures in just dark brown. It worked okay for Sirius in 2019, but then in 2022 they put Sirius in a heap of sets without giving him anything more accurate, and then it showed up on Ezra, Michael Corner, Scabior, Cassian, etc. Would not Lloyd's hairpiece (which, by the way, already existed in dark brown) have been spot on for Cassian? His hair isn't even that long and the way Lloyd's is parted and tousled is perfect. -

Noooo, this is genuinely disappointing, I was really looking forward to the possibility of a couple of sets. I hope they didn't just do this because of all of the manufactured outrage and that it actually had a subpar performance that genuinely justifies cancelling it. -

I honestly wouldn't have known, except that I have the Skiff set from 2017 that actually had a ROTJ Boba as well as the ESB one from the carbon freezing chamber so I could see the difference, and tbh I like it a lot more than any of the ESB ones just because of the colours, and I reeeeally wanted them to make a ROTJ one with arm printing but sadly no :( -

Or hopefully them catching up on other recent stuff, like Bad Batch. Or maybe an Acolyte set or two will have been made ready by then. Ideally some good ROTS sets too. -

I have been summoned! Disney has its issues, but I've enjoyed watching just about every recent Star Wars movie or show with the exception of Resistance. Acolyte was pretty great, Obi-Wan was okay, BOBF didn't meet expectations but was good, Mando S2 is almost on par with TCW for me, both of which are close behind Andor, etc. I'm still disappointed that Freemaker Adventures got removed from Disney plus ages ago as I've been wanting to rewatch it. -

If you'd like a general summary of all the info we have so far for multiple themes, there is that one site that I'm sure other people here know of that you might find useful, but I'm not sure it's okay to link to it or directly share the name due to the guidelines about sharing leaks on EB. Would anyone be able to give me the go-ahead for sharing it or link to it yourself if you're sure it's fine? As for the sail barge, we have a picture of one of the smaller boxes inside the set's actual box, and also a picture of the new Salacious Crumb. -

Plus the whole scene with the Tac-Pod. Seems to be a healthy amount of Andor stuff there! The only unfortunate thing is that they have only used the one already existing set, and that the Narkina 5 outfits seen on Yoda and Windu have been given the not-a-physical-product treatment with arm printing etc. that probably wouldn't be given to real figures in that outfit, so it doesn't really point to any actual sets happening soon. Though, like you said, at least they're still thinking about it. -

As @icm said, it is indeed from Skeleton Crew, which should be coming relatively soon now but keeps getting delayed. The set was purportedly going to release in January but they held it back due to the presumably switched release schedule with Acolyte. -

Has Comic Con finished? I don't keep up with conventions very much but I would have thought they'd show a trailer there. -

We just heard about (+saw) Salacious Crumb from the new sail barge, who disproves this. I think that's why people are concerned about Jabba. Salacious isn't even a full figure, let alone just an alien minifig who just doesn't use a typical head piece. -

Even so, assuming the UCS R2 is still available in March, it'll be our 7th buildable astromech on shelves at one time!!! (They definitely thought this through fr) -

Pretty much, yeah. I definitely perceive them as pupils when the eyes are black. Possibly, I guess we'll see what they do when they eventually respond to the criticism (if they do). Agreed and agreed. -

They're supposedly more consistent because no recent figures actually have pupils; figures without strongly coloured eyes just get black eyes with a small white spot to represent light reflecting or something like that. The white spot is still present in the coloured eyes. -

I guess an overhaul is the best we can really hope for, but I guess this could give us some hope that there might in fact be a small vulture droid? Previous ones have been a bit oversized, so maybe they'll scale back the interceptor a bit (i.e. closer to Obi's than Ani's recent one) and use the rest of the pieces for it, or a different sidebuild. -

The more jokes you guys make about the DC Forum, the more I feel like I have to check it out, just for funsies. Should I consider bringing any protective gear? -

It definitely looked dark bluish grey to me at first, but I did doubt myself when a few of you guys mentioned it being black.
