  1. I dunno, it very well may be intended to see how much interest there is from the general market, but that also just seems unnecessary for Zelda. We have very tangible evidence that there's some demand for it, and Zelda is among the most popular and iconic video game franchises in the world. The set itself does give the vibe of having been made in isolation, but as a potential theme Zelda seems like too much of a cash cow for Lego to pass up on (especially if they're willing to make five Sonic sets). I guess at this point we can't really do much else other than wait and see though. Have any leakers said when it's supposed to come out? I know a few sets from the leak have release dates/windows now but I don't think I've seen any about the Zelda set.
  2. I don't think they'd know about Comic Con stuff, but you could be onto something with the others. Spider-Man vehicles seem like a give, but do those really count as "old bs" when they never really left us? My bet is on new and "improved" superjumpers (which it will turn out can still actually break minifig legs).
  3. The list sounds interesting, but I don't have any real idea what to expect. I suppose there's something fun about that, but these sets are going to have to really impress me because as is this already looks like it'll be an expensive year.
  4. The X-Mansion set from the leak also has a piece count that seems way higher than what is shown in the leak, so this could be a similar situation. The thing that gives me pause about that though is that the Sail Barge still looks rather complete as is, whereas the Mansion is clearly a very early prototype.
  5. 4 moulds is a lot for a single set, but I kind of doubt that this is going to be a one-off thing. Zelda is probably the single most requested Lego series of the last decade, and seeing as how Lego and Nintendo have been working together for a few years now I don't think anyone else is likely to get the license. One other distinct advantage of Zelda as a theme is that a lot of potential sets could appeal to non-Zelda fans of Lego just by virtue of being interesting fantasy designs (and pretty distinct from whatever LotR might get if that matters). Obviously we have no tangible evidence of more sets after this, but I would be pretty surprised if the Deku Tree ends up as the only Zelda set. As for the price, I'm also a bit worried. The original leak said they guessed it'd be $250, but that seems pretty steep for what you get. Maybe I just need to take another look at it but it doesn't look like something worth much more than $200.
  6. I think the shield could go either way, but Lego has been known to do tons of new molds for new licensed themes so I could see the Hylian Shield (or a new more general purpose shield mold that more resembles it) getting made. To be fair though, they could reasonably get away with not including in the Deku Tree, since it's not usually part of Link's BotW design and he doesn't get it until after the Deku Tree section of Ocarina of Time. Edit: Also, not that anyone cares, but in hindsight I think that the hypothetical Wind Waker Master Sword mold I mentioned in my last post would actually be more appropriate for an A Link Between Worlds set than the one we will likely see for the other games. In WW and ALBW the blade is notably shorter than usual, so I could see Lego making a different mold for those games should they ever be covered.
  7. I think it's more likely than not. It's the most iconic video game weapon ever, and in BotW it's literally right in front of the Deku Tree. Also, if we get more sets after this, it could be reused for most of the games. The design changes a bit from game to game, but the only games where it canonically appears and is different enough that a new mold would be "needed" are Wind Waker and A Link to the Past (the latter of which sadly seems unlikely to get any sets unless the theme lasts a while). If they make one for this set it could be used as necessary in any sets based on Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds, and Breath of the Wild.
  8. I saw the SE poll too, what a weird event. It'd be cool if we got something official but I'm not holding my breath. Final Fantasy never struck me as something we'd see Lego sets of.
  9. Wow, that ended up being real. Looks pretty cool, though it looks much smaller than I was expecting. Hopefully the price is a bit on the lower end to justify that. I'm going to be getting it no matter what since it's Lego Zelda, but there's a lot of other great stuff coming out this year as well so I'd prefer for this one not to be too overpriced.
  10. I am not at all the market for the helmets so perhaps my opinion doesn't really matter, but I just don't get what they were going for with the Star Lord helmet. It looks good for the most part, but the whole top being empty just does not work at all. I can appreciate that they were stuck between a rock and a hard place since I imagine building the hair would look odd too (not to mention that it'd increase the price a good deal), yet I can't help but think that this was not the best way to go about it.
  11. I find it interesting that the new temple is going to be $90. I get that vehicles tend to be more popular with kids, but I'd really like to see what the Ninjago designers could do with a temple for the $140 slot. We haven't had a temple around that size in years, and the last time we even got a location set that big (excluding Ninjago City) was the Dragon Pit in 2018. The temples of recent years have all been pretty good, but I can't help but feel that something like the Crystal King's Temple would have been better had it been larger.
  12. To be honest I'd completely forgotten that the Gardens had it's price increased, so that's a good point. I think 1.5 baseplates would be good to keep it consistent with the Docks, but I'm not gonna be bothered if it's bigger or smaller than that.
  13. Wow, I'd given up hope on a new Ninjago City expansion coming out this year. I don't know that I'll be able to get it day 1, but I'll 100% be buying it at some point. At first I thought the higher price was just due to inflation but the PPP makes it look like it's going to be an insanely good deal.
  14. Ah I see, in that case then there's absolutely nothing to back the "leak" up outside from the good point by @Hoth Rebel that the account was pre-existing and in good standing. Having thought about it some more, the 3-in-1 concept also seems rather farfetched. I still think we're going to see Lego Zelda sooner or later, but at this point I doubt it'll be this year. With the way things have been going with Lego lately the first set will probably just be a statue of the Master Sword or something uninteresting like that (for me personally). It's one of the most popular game series of all time, it's been highly requested for a decade, and Nintendo already has been working with Lego–it's hard to imagine we won't get something eventually (unless someone else somehow got the license).
  15. Of all the "leaks" that have been posted today this one is by far the most unbelievable. I just really struggle to believe that we are going to see any substantial X-Men representation in Lego prior to their MCU debut.
  16. I don't disagree with any of that but my point was that it'd take (relatively speaking) very little time for this to be disproved if they just made up the thing about the moderator. I just don't see the point of including that detail when it very obviously will expose them as a liar. I guess we'll probably know in a few hours if there's anything to this because of that, but unless they just didn't think it through there's no reason to mention that. Hopefully the moderators can clarify if they know anything about these alleged leaks.
  17. I don't exactly think it makes a lot of sense either, but I assume that one of the moderators would've clarified if they straight up lied about getting permission to post from them.
  18. Very interesting. I wouldn't have expected a 2-in-1 Deku Tree but it's a pretty iconic location/character so it does make sense. The lack of other characters is a little disappointing but I honestly have a very hard time imagining that this is going to be a one off thing, so I'm not too bothered.
  19. Perhaps I'm forgetting some obvious examples but it feels like Lego has been rather averse to making sequel trilogy sets ever since TRoS. I get that it's the least popular of the main trilogies and that Lego has had a ton of other new things to base sets off of, but we haven't even got a set of the final battle of the trilogy. It just seems like the sequels have been getting the short end of the stick as of late, and that's coming from someone who didn't even like them that much. TRoS especially has a couple of gaps that could do with being filled.
  20. Not sure if this was discussed already, but what do people think are the chances that we get the S2 designs for the Bad Batch? I feel like the fact that Lego has already made two large sets for it suggests that it'll continue to be represented, but I don't know that we'll see it this year. I also have to wonder if they'll all be together or if they'd be spread out over multiple sets; there are other characters they could throw in too like Cid or Commander Cody, though they certainly seem much less likely to be made.
  21. I suppose this is probably not as common for kids, but I think the main reason I prefer villain sets or neutral locations is because I have already had the opportunity to get a big vehicle for every Ninja. There are still a few gaps but by and large every main character has been well served, so if I want to display them with villains I can always just use one of the older sets instead of a new one. That doesn't apply as much for more specific sub-themes like Seabound where the vehicles are pretty different to normal, but that's really an exception to the norm.
  22. I certainly wouldn't mind more villain vehicles, but I think @Lyichir raised a very good point in mentioning the repetitiveness of the Serpentine vehicles (something which I'd argue also applies to the Skulkin stuff). That's not something that can't be fixed, but I think that if we ever start getting more villain vehicles again, the designers will need to differentiate them more. In hindsight, it's pretty weird that the Serpentine stuff wasn't designed based on the tribes. Going for that, or designs based on specific antagonists, seems like a good way to avoid that pitfall.
  23. I could see an app being able to interact with the sets in some way but I think Lego has probably realized with the poor performance of Hidden Side and (especially) Vidiyo that app integration doesn't add much. I never had a smartphone as a young kid since they didn't exist at the time, but I imagine that most kids are more interested in just doing one thing; they may not want to use the sets and a phone at the same time, when they could have just as much (if not more) fun with just one of the two. It just kinda unnecessarily complicates things.
  24. It probably is something like that, otherwise we'd at least have heard some rumblings by now. I think one other thing a lot of fans forget (not referring to you) is that it isn't a black and white dichotomy of "will this set sell." Another Ninjago City would most likely make a profit for Lego, but Lego may prefer to devote the resources necessary to make another one to other projects that they expect to be more profitable or that might help them attract new fans.
  25. I agree that the Temple seems more likely; but there are some advantages to Petranaki that are hard to overlook in my opinion. Probably the biggest one is that it could be done justice at a much cheaper price than a lot of other locations, like the Temple. I doubt anyone would expect a Petranaki set to come with the whole arena, whereas a lot of people would take issue with the Temple not having a full exterior (which would push up the price significantly). And while the Temple is pretty iconic, I don't think any one seen that takes place there is more iconic than the battle at the arena. Personally I think that the Temple still has the edge since it seems to be more popular with Prequel fans and has a lot of room for creative design, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we got Petranaki first (assuming we ever get any Prequel MBS sets).
