Heroica RPG - Quest #4: Taming the Lions
swils replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Seens we're in luck, then, as I distinctly remember that our primary goal was to gather information regarding the caravan raids (which led us to the Lion Knights), and then Mr. Shawe here would give us further instruction based on what we found. Some reconnaissance would advance both of our goals. -

First you insist that you're innocent, then ask for one more night for a chance to have your innocence proven by investigation, then, still 4 votes shy of even a tie, you now are acting to hurt your chances of survivng the night? What is going on here? This really is a circus. -

Now there's something that even I hadn't really considered yet. Unless we're dealing with a single lowlife scumbag in our midst, it is entirely possible that there are plans in motion to draw out the investigator, with Jimbob as their scapegoat, taking one "for the team." It would certainly explain why he keeps drawing attention to himself. It seems terribly elaborate, but, honestly, it at least has a little credibility to it. I still don't have any idea who's guilty here or not, but I'm just not comfortable with killing someone because they were off practicing their act weren't all that talkative today. Sorry, Jimbob, but in my eyes, you're the only one with anything close to a real case against them right now, however much of a stretch it may be, and I need to put my vote *somewhere* again. I read the Basics lesson post and I would like to vote: Jimbob (Jedi master Brick) -

Naw, quite alright! Plenty of time left to stumble across an ancient treasure vault in this region, heh, and besides, I'll know where to find him if he tries to bail on the IOU! Ha ha! -

Alright then! Thormanil takes his 25 gold and gives it to De'kra. Thormanil now has 0 gold (25-25). De'kra now has 33 gold (8+25). A new.. uh... friend.. pet.. slug.. thing... and a new cloak! Christmas comes early! Ha ha! Edit, OOC: Tanma, if you don't want to purchase the cloak after all, just give the word. I'm just acting based on your last post. -

Before we go, I would be willing to front a fraction of the cost for that elven cloak for De'kra, if anyone else would help cover the rest of the cost (and of course, De'kra would be expected to pay us back as soon as he was able). Having the ability to know what sort of a threat we may be facing ahead of time could prove invaluable. And imagine if some big burly guard standing between us and our objective turns out to be a total pushover? Anyone's thoughts, before we head out? Edit, OOC: *snip*, stupid mobile causing repeated text. Grumblegrumble. -

Really, this is the question at hand. Are they really that suspicious because they werent very vocal today? Or have they perhaps acted "too innocent", like Tora? (rolls her eyes). The way I see it, upon being accused and piled against for (yet another) unconvincing reason, the Benzini brothers failed to present a convincing defense of their own. To be honest, I never even heard them say they *didnt* kill anyone last night.. Just that theyve been too busy today to participate in the discussions earlier. And okay, THAT seems kind of suspicious. But even if theyd claimed they didnt do it, would anyone believe them? Jimbob's defense wasnt much stronger, just saying he didnt so it and then almost resigning himself to the inevitable, and there are still some people who dont trust him right now, though everyone seems to have turned on the Benzinis. We need to find solid reasons to be convicting people, not just throwing our votes behind whoever drew the shortstraw when it came to "silly reasons to die" today. -

I had the most restless beauty sleep this afternoon! Why, I doubt it was good for my beauty at all. I didn't even get that much sleep, either! I *did* hear a voice in what few dreams I had, and it kept mumbling the same phrase, over and over... I'm not one for psycho-mumbo-jumbo, that seems more up your alley, and I'm certainly not inclined to trust a strange voice in my head, but perhaps we should consider looking a little deeper than surface appearances today. After all, it was such shallow judgments that lead to poor Gingeroono's death, and I'd hate to see that happen again! Unless you are all in on some horrible, malevolent plot together, I doubt we would have much luck trying to nail any of the scumbags simply by picking from the list of folks who turned on Gingeroono (though, that's certainly a reasonable course of action if nothing better comes up). Barnabo and Elasti, you two might have something.. Jimbob, could you explain a bit more your reasoning? So far, all you've said was that we should trust you, and that you have no "night actions", whatever those are! If Ginger had asked us to just trust him and spare his life based on that trust, would he still be with us today? I'm just trying to piece together all of what has happened here.. So.. senseless! -

If your character has a role, say, "Pie Taster", you would PM badboy saying "I want to eat the [flavor] pie tonight." It's early, and I'm hungry -

How has there been any metagaming..? Unless I'm totally mistaken, the basis of metagaming is judging people by their actions in previous games, and most of the folks in Cirque du Freak are first timers..? I don't think judging people by what they've said/done/how they've acted so far in this game is metagaming, rather, it's kind of the point.. -

Ah, Wilhelmina dear, thank you! I wander off for a few minutes to catch up on my beauty rest (which, heaven only knows I need, this stress is causing wrinkles!), and come back to find myself jumped upon just as quickly as poor Gingeroono! You have mirrored my thoughts quite well, though, in my absence. -

Ginger, you're not even going to try to make a case for yourself..? That's a shame, though, admittedly, a bit concerning. Regardless, I don't quite like how quickly JimBob turned on you. Though, in the same vein as what I said before, JimBob was merely the first to make an accusation against you. But in lieu of any solid evidence one way or another, and with your fate seemingly sealed, I will... Vote: Jimbob (Jedi Master Brick) -

We really dont have *anything* to go on, though. The first accusation came about as a result of my own conjecture. Then poor Gingeroono got dogpiled for throwing out a baseless accusation, at a time when NO ONE had any real evidence. The fact is, though, that we have to condemn someone tonight. Why should it be Ginger? Just because he was the first to speak up? Someone would have had to speak up first eventually... And now he faces a potentially unjust death just because it was he that threw the first stone, when, truthfully, it could have been any of us in his position now? And all of you, jumping on him for it... We dont know who or how many are against us here. All we know is that someone amongst us set up Houdini Jr. At the moment, we each can truly only trust ourselves, as we know what we personally have or havent done. I know that someone must die as a result of our voting, and it seems to me, there is a good chance we will all have innocent blood on our hands by morning. What makes Jimbob's accusation more believable than Gingeroono's? Neither of them seem to have a leg to stand on in that regard. Are you all prepared to have it weighing on your consciences that you almost unanimously sentenced Gingeroono to death, should he prove to be innocent? I dont know if Im ready to deal with that... I wish I had your sense of... "enthusiasm," Patricia. Would make this whole ordeal a lot less stressful. -
Nope, more are always welcome! Just follow the template to create your character, and introduce yourself in the Heroica Hall thread! Welcome aboard!

I agree with all of you. I didnt mean to say that I think it was Barnabo merely on the basis that he, too, is a magician. I was only saying that if, tonight, knowing no more than I do now, I was told that I *had* to assign the blame, I would target Barnabo, simply because it is the most defensible accusation. It's nothing personal, Barny.. But it just rolls off the tongue so well... 'The Amazing Barnabo just didnt seem quite as amazing after Houdini Jr showed up...' Not that I think that's anything close to a good reason to get triggerhappy on him.. -

Well, it sure is good to be back on our journey, and even better that we had a peaceful night's rest. And De'kra, it's good to have you back. Now, unless theres anything interesting to be found or dug up in that tall grass, I'd vote we continue on. -

Well, sure, if she wanted to be responsible for all those deaths. But why not spread the blame around? It would be the perfect ruse.. she calls in the first murder, then we start lopping each others heads off, and by the time the police get here, half of us are standing around with everyones' blood on our hands, and she tells the cops we all went crazy! I wouldn't put it past her! Then again, it does all sound a bit over the top. Who could possibly have had motive? We really don't know anything yet, but if I had to say *someone*, then the best guess I've got is that it was Barnabo, trying to get his hands on the headlining magic-man act. -

Wouldn't that be dark, if Mitsie was just stringing us along, leaving us paranoid and killing each other. But that all seems like a lot of effort. Should probably just flip a coin and go from there! Ha ha! -

Hah! Tora, you must be crazy if you think we should trust you and your cards. Yes, that's a brilliant idea, let's get our information from an obscure source that only you can interpret for us! I bet the cards would *never* point a finger your way... But ohh, I do hope we can fix this mess before it's too late and any more... "good"... acts fall victim! I swear, if I end up having to prance around with those greasy acrobats... (shudders)
