  1. Quick question for those in the know... I can't remember which quest it was, but somewhere along the line there was discussion of using other characters' items in battle. I feel like the example I'm remembering involved borrowing someone else's weapon, but I'm not sure. How's that all work, again? If I wanted to use Item A from Player 2's pack, would it take one turn to acquire the item, and another to use it?
  2. 1. Passed in Cirque du Freak 2. After the 22nd, I'll have plenty of free time. 3. Honestly, not that much, but willing to learn as necessary
  3. The party can just barely make out a faint muttering from their barbarian friend, knocked on his big behind again. It almost sounds as though he is saying "Roll hacks" over and over, though this phrase is likely just some inane pairing of words, resulting from the abuse he has suffered this battle.
  4. Knocked to the ground by the powerful kick, Thormanil tries to rise to his feet while the world seems to spin around him. Struggling just to see straight and cursing his luck, he manages to get himself off the ground, but can make it no farther than a wobbling kneel. He would gladly offer a potion from his pack to his injured friend, but he doesn't even know which of the many Metasimians orbiting around him is the real Thothwick. While trying to focus on the rogue, he is beset with an awful feeling of nausea. Perhaps it would be best if he just sat here and waited for the shock to wear off.
  5. OoC: Good catch, and quick fix, heh. And as for Hoptet's healing, I just went along with what was posted, call me lazy :P "This just isn't my day!" Thormanil groans, and decides to try his luck against the left chicken leg, attacking it from the front row.
  6. "I'll attack Red Dawn from the front row, this time!"
  7. "Thanky kindly, Thothy! Now.." he turns his attention to Red Dawn "If you'll go for the other chicken leg, Docken, I'll try to keep this one from healing!" Thormanil will attack Red Dawn from the back row. Revised actions, as I believe they stand: 1. Hopet, heal Cinna & Thormanil from back 2. Cinna, darkness against Bright Day from back 3. Thothwick, attack Giant Chicken Leg (Right) from front 4. Thormanil, attack Red Dawn from back 5. Docken, attack Giant Chicken Leg (Left) from back
  8. "Hey Docken, Thothy, hows about you two let me take a swing at Red Dawn instead? It'd give me just a wee bit of breathin' room"
  9. I came here (the mafia/games section, that is) looking for some BrickWars rulesets... totally got distracted from that objective!
  10. "Hey, Thothwick, think you could aim for one of the legs, instead? I'd like to knock back a bottle of mead right-quick, but not if it'd leave one of them free to take a swing at us." If all of the enemies have been targeted, Thormanil will drink a Mead from the back row. If one of the enemies remains untargeted, Thormanil will attack it from the front row.
  11. He's a big ol' ogre... I could see him just lugging around a large slab of rock that he can literally drop into the ground and hide behind. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=47847
  12. Oh, absolutely, and from both ends of the spectrum. As a host, I think that giving the players above-average freedom of action is key to keeping them involved, and can lead to some really interesting scenarios or solutions. As a player, I love it when a host allows us to deviate from their 'script', and adapts dynamically. If the host gives you an incredibly long leash (ala Q17), then there is *no* reason not to use it all to your advantage. A good host will have ways to give you the added power for your creativity, without leaving the encounter totally broken in your favor. Maybe you build a makeshift catapult, and it works fine for a round or two, but then, as "luck" would have it, a lot of the wood you used to build it was rotten, and it ends up collapsing before you can decimate another wave. That said, as a player, I try to avoid dominating any given scenario. I'm not the only player there, and I don't want to hog all of the "Mysterious Potions" (Q4) for myself, for example. I like to engage directly with the host (in-character, of course), rather than with the exact situation currently laid out before us, but some people don't. While I don't like the idea of having to run every idea by the party leader before I can bold it and actually make a move, I can appreciate that others want time to discuss and deliberate, settling on a group-approved course of action. So if I feel as though attempting to garner every advantage and strength possible would impose upon the rest of the party's enjoyment, or stretch the host's tolerance/plans, I tend to stay hush, and accept my fate as "just another average hero", heh.
  13. I haven't, actually. I've fallen behind on most of the other quests, and the Hall, especially. Between having limited internet for most of January, and school getting back in session, well, priorities.. you know how that goes And yes, he's just so ahead of the curve! Heh I *do* remember commenting on this when Sandy first unveiled the Advanced Classes, but while looking over them again while considering which path I'd definitely take Thormanil down (first, at least), I had a thought: Berserkers are hindered by being stuck on their target til it dies. What if they gained power for every turn they were stuck on that same target, and attacked it? Example (very dumbed down): Turn 1 - Berserker(Lv15, WP10) attacks Enemy A, rolls 3, hits for 25 (15+10) Turn 2 - Berserker(Lv15, WP10+1) attacks Enemy A, rolls 3, hits for 26 (15+11) Turn 3 - Berserker(Lv15, WP10+2) attacks Enemy A, rolls 3, hits for 27 (15+12) Turn 4 - Berserker(Lv15, WP10+3) attacks Enemy A, rolls 2, hits for 54 (15+13x3) Turn 5 - Berserker(Lv15, WP10+4) attacks Enemy A, rolls 5, takes X damage Turn 6 - Berserker(Lv15, WP10) attacks Enemy A, rolls 3, hits for 25 (15+10) Would balance the fact that the Berserker is stuck on a single target, by increasing its WP against that target for every turn that it deals damage to that target (Rolls of 2, 3, and 4 would continue the streak, whereas rolls of 1, 5, or 6 would break the combo.) Numbers could be toyed with. For the average fight, the benefit wouldn't be seen that much. It's unlikely that a single target would last long enough for the Berserker to reach a bonus of +3 or more. Definitely a niche role, would have its use in longer boss fights, or at least larger health pools. Might need to be +2/"charge" rather than +1, but again, numbers could be toyed with. And with a 50/50 chance of making-or-breaking your streak, it's got some nice balance to it, still. Then again, we haven't seen how Berserkers play out yet. So we should see some trial runs. But that's my suggestion, let me throw it out there now. haha
  14. Well, since it has yet to be said... Dibs! And don't worry. Guts will be approaching the profession with the calculated precision of a nimble rogue. Thormanil, on the other hand, will have all the grace and tact of a bull in a china shop. And, hey, at least Guts was rocking the headwrap before it was cool! Haha
  15. ... ... I'm impressed. Did I? Huh, well color me embarrassed (and forgetful, apparently)! Heh Edit, while I've still got the floor: Should have specified sugar and spice! *I'm very intent on avoiding this Thermo homework tonight. Haha
  16. Well I'll be damned if you didn't just manage to take all the suspense out of it... haha
  17. C'mon c'mon c'monnnnn! Could we go any slower in Q14? I feel like we're walking around in (semi-)circles here! Just to be safe, I'm only kidding. Life's nice and busy on my end, what with a decent courseload and all this semester, so I certainly don't mean to rush anyone else, heh. Speaking of schoolwork, I procrastinated a bit tonight and did some photoshopping instead.
  18. "Seems to me, if we go left, we'll be right back where we started. I vote we keep turnin' right. Should keep us followin' the outer edges of the swamp trails."
  19. "Well, that could be arranged. Depends on whether or not Thothy here decides to make himself smell all purdy-like. Or how big the wyvern's claws are. One of the two. Heh heh." Edit: OoC: Don't worry about it, Sandy. As much as I hate to admit it myself sometimes, real life commitments must come first! Haha
  20. After wiping the bone dust and ashes off his axes and slinging them at his waist, Thormanil nods, silently agreeing with Cinna. He hoists the lad up onto his shoulders, ready to hike over to the bog.
  21. I didn't follow along with that quest (and thus the puzzle), though now I wish I had, heh! I distinctly remember a tower of Hanoi-esque puzzle from an old Math Blaster game I used to own. The haunted/creepy mansion one, with the mad scientist and such... ah, memories... haha
  22. "Docken, make yerself useful or somethin'! Give a, uh, rallying speech! I could sure use one, this is one nimble bag of bones!" Yet again, Thormanil will try to attack Undead Unicorn from the front row.
  23. Thormanil will attack Undead Unicorn from the front row.
  24. Thormanil will attack Undead Unicorn from the front row.
  25. His axes still crackling from the last fight, Thormanil grips them tightly as he readies himself to attack the Undead Unicorn from the front row.
