  1. Oh, come now, it was at least a -little- funny (the first time). It was contextually applicable, and didn't seem malicious. I know that hosting is no easy task, nor is balancing your content (both for your own quest, and for the game as a whole), especially when it comes to interesting items and mechanics. For my own part, I do think this was a lot of loot (not to touch on the mechanics at all) for such a fight. Consider the Risk vs Reward presented in that fight. Additionally, items with unique effects should remain fairly few and far between, or else everyone and their imaginary friend will have them, and they lose their uniqueness, which was part of their appeal in the first place. And, just to spin things a little, consider the ripple effect that your items will have on the rest of the game. Other QMs will have to remember or at least deal with these items and their mechanics once they are carried beyond the realm of your quests. You've already noted that being a QM can be a challenge at times, do you really want to make things that much more complicated for other QMs? I really do understand and appreciate your intentions, your desire to keep things fresh and interesting, and encourage you to continue to do so. Just, perhaps reel it in a wee bit?
  2. But my name starts with an A, and I'm the Chosen One so surely that puts me ahead of even Aayla, right?
  3. You lucky son-of-a!
  4. Anything and everything is fair game for retcons, master.
  5. For the life of me, I couldn't get EB to overwrite my Stormie avatar when uploading the Anakin avatar after saving it. It just kept reverting to the Stormie. So I uploaded it to flickr and linked to it from there, heh.
  6. You all know who I am, and if you don't, you should. Now let's hurry up and get to the sith-killing!
  7. Err, Whoops! It was late and I got a wee bit confused, haha. Thormanil accepts the challenge of Benji (Flare, totally not TBW) (Linky)
  8. Thormanil steps into the Arena, looking around like a lost child. The cheering crowds, complimented by the jeering crowds. So-called 'heroes', fighting for their reputations. Sword-against-sword, spell-against-halberd, nothing was held sacred here. But he was here with a purpose, to: Accept the challenge of Benji (TheBoyWonder) (Linky)
  9. Striding into the marketplace, Thormanil pays a visit to Anwyl's Smithy. 'Ello Anwyl! I've got here two fine sets of blades, which I'm sure you can craft into a fine profit! I'll trade you this Dull Greataxe(WP:3), and these sharp Twin Katanas(WP:3), for a mere 15 gold each!" Thormanil: 192 gold + 15g + 15g = 222 Gold
  10. Lycan Dean, 10 gold: -10 gold up front (cleared) -110 gold promisory (unpaid) -Twin Katanas (WP:3) Balance: 0 Gold, 95 Gold promised to Mr. Nihai (swils) Thormanil Nihai, 182 gold: +10 gold up front -Sabre (WP:8, Knights & Rogues) Balance: 192 Gold, 95 gold indebted from Lycan Dean (TheBoyWonder), Twin Katanas (WP:3) Thormanil chuckles, "Benji! Of course, you know I love a good bout!" Thormanil heads towards the arena, making a brief pitstop by the marketplace on his way.
  11. "Well, a fresh face! Tell ya what. I was hopin' to get a bit more for it, but it seems everyone 'round here's only interested in a blade if its got some magic powers to go with it. If you up your promise to 10 up front with another 110 when yeh've got it, then the blade's yours. Seein' as you'll be increasing your, ah, income, by a decent sum, I don't think it's too unreasonable an offer. What d'ya say, Dean?"
  12. 7:48pm, 3 May, up here in AK. The sale tag is hovering over my cart, but nothing was added. Hoping that changes when I get home from Avengers later tonight. Either way, I'll still be picking up the Imperial Shuttle :3
  13. Thormanil, having taken quite the power nap, returns to the Hall, and signs his name under Quest #33 on the questboard. In addition, he posted a notice of his own:
  14. 1. Lost but Passed in Cirque du Freak, Team Win in Yakuza Family (though I wasn't very proud of my performance) 2. Finishing up the Spring semester, staying in town to take a Summer course, but should be mostly available (no foreseeable absences). 3. Anakin Skywalker (and, by extension, Darth Vader). As a kid watching the OT for the first time, he was just such a memorable 'bad guy'. Somewhere in my elementary school years, I got a Star Wars Encyclopedia, and it had a detailed backstory about Vader, and that's when I first learned about his fight with Kenobi over the (what I remember to be) lava pit. Of course, being a kid, I didn't imagine Mustafar to be anything like it was portrayed in the later film. I pictured Anakin fighting Obi Wan basically over the mouth of a volcano, rather than a volcanic landscape. Oh, how I wanted to see that fight on the big screen, for years. Anakin's lifestory (including, but mostly beyond the PT) just catches me as one of my favorites. Even if I don't make the roster, I can't wait to see what you've got in store for this game.
  15. Almost a month later, I finally found some S7 boxes in a local Fred Meyer's (Fairbanks, AK). Picked up 3x Aztec, 2x Marine, 2x Bagpipe, 1x Neptune, 1x Tarzan, 1x Evil Knight. Unlike previous series (*cough* my minotaur army *cough*), I'm fairly satisfied with this limited number of figs. Nothing really jumped out at me as army building material (I feel like the Aztec would be better accompanied by a company of Islanders without fancy plumed headdresses, than a squad of that actual minifig). That said, did anyone else think that the Aztec's legs felt much less sturdy than that of the other figs? I can't tell if it's a different plastic, or just cheap, or what, but the legs on all 3 Aztecs that I got (from different boxes) just didn't feel the same as the other figs from this batch.
  16. The first time I encountered the aforementioned, I was 9... I nearly soiled myself when the screen panned up to reveal a glowing eye staring me down from the ceiling... But it wasn't til I reapproached the game a few years later that I overcame my fear of the ReDeads. *That* said, I think I need to figure out an encounter (or perhaps, recurring enemy) that features the ability to stun a target whilst sapping life from them, all following a blood curdling screech... (dibs on that, btw). In case *anyone* was curious, yeah, I've still got a quest or two in the works on paper, but I don't want to commit to them until I have both the time and resources to properly host them (read: at the very least, get my lego collection up to AK from MD). "Thormanil" as a recurring entity has always been a bold, somewhat reckless person. Usually incarnated as an older character (I just have an affinity for gray/white haired characters in games), in most medieval/fantasy MMO's, I find myself associating the name with a Dwarf, usually wielding two hand-axes, heh. Some might have a problem with reusing a character concept, but I enjoy experiencing Thormanil's adventures in varying contexts, ages, universes, and styles. He's my own personal Link, always becoming the same sort of person (when I RP him, at least), though his tools and means may vary. He sort of embodies a set of character traits that I wish I could add to my own pool of qualities: a boldness, confidence, and willingness to both speak his mind and act on his gut instincts despite the opinions of his peers. I know for a fact that the anonymity of the internet enables me to step into his shoes, stepping into a leadership role that I would otherwise shy away from. I know that I haven't exactly displayed that yet here (aside from saying that his attitude is such while OOC), but I'm sure this Thormanil will come into his own in good time. If I were to meet Thormanil, I'm pretty sure I'd make him teach me his secrets to a perfectly-toned core. What can I say, I'm shallow. I've always been on the scrawny side, and couldn't even achieve a build like his when I was wrestling .
  17. "HALDOR!" Thormanil calls out to the man, but he was already otherwise engaged. "Ah well. Yeah, Cinna, seems everyone here's their own kinda hero, and you know how heroes are: They've all got an agenda, and you can bet your last gold coin that their's is more important 'an yers. Haha!"
  18. I had to run off to my DifEq class (something poor Thormanil could never hope to comprehend! ), Let's see what ye've got for me..
  19. "Confident? Hah! I guess I just don't like dawdlin' around. Truth be told, that witch had me damn near shaking. I'm glad to be back in Eubric, after everything that happened in Salmanda. I've mostly been clearin' my head this last week or so. Although, I spent a few days in a back room of the training hall, choking on gods-only-know what kinda smoke, then they told me I'd pass for a Shaman, so here I am, heh heh. How about yerself? I don't recall seein' ya while I was back at the training room."
  20. "Aye, Scheherazade serves a mean pint of ale for pennies, I'd bet it's easy to lose yerself in one of those glasses. But to mistake you fer a rag? Yer sellin' yerself short, Cinna! Surely, it must have at least been a mop that fell over!"
  21. Hearing a desperate call for a cleric, Thormanil, having just entered the Hall, rushes over. "What's the big... Oh, Cinna? You look fine to me... Wait, I think I understand. Durkon, you must be a psychic or summin, eh?" Durkon gives Thormanil a confused look. Thormanil grins and whollops Durkon and Drake upside their heads with his new staff. The pair slump to the floor, seemingly quite unconscious. "Ay! Someone get a cleric! Or at least some ice. I don't think these two'll be waking up any time soon, heh heh." Take a hint. He turns to Cinna "Let's grab a drink and catch up with some folk, eh?"
  22. Well, thanks The face&helmet were both placeholders, and I've never actually been a fan of that helmet style, it's just what I had on hand. I didn't want him to be bald, but didn't have any fitting helmets or hairpieces. The face I'm using now is actually the face I'd had in mind from the get-go. To me, that smirk just exudes smugness/confidence, which is how I always wanted Thormanil to be seen--a confident, headstrong, if a bit brash/hasty, barbarian. And now he's quite sure of himself, and in his decision to take on a healer-role, so it seemed like a fitting time to introduce the "original" headpiece.
  23. So I know I just gave Thormanil an overhaul (including a new face, which is actually the one I'd originally wanted to use), but I think there's going to be a second wave of adjustments in the coming days I'd considered getting an orc torso for him, but decided to stick with the shirtless look. Who needs shirts, anyway? Haha. I think I'll be making the slight change of swapping the plain barechest with the new Jungle Boy chest print, due to the claw-necklace. In addition, I might just grab the hairpiece off that CMF as well, because I'm not huge on the cloak, but I don't have any fitting hair molds, nor helmets, to use. We'll see what I leave the store with, tomorrow morning
  24. There's a distinct hint of Irish Spring. Lucky me, I took a shower before reading this!
