Heroica RPG - Quest#35: Rescue the Maa’ri!
swils replied to Jebediahs's topic in The Heroica Archive
How obnoxious! Thormanil heals himself from the back row, then attacks the Lead Investigator from the front row. Oh, I hope I get my heal off! Heh. Kadabra, you can feel free to pick up the battle order if you want. -

OoC: I really don't want to come off as though I'm nitpicking (where's the  smiley?) I was under the (perhaps/likely mistaken) impression that "Sealed" would prevent the use of special abilities. That would, in turn, make "Special Damage" against the Lead Interrogator a more desirable option than regular "Damage", wouldn't it? That is, as long as I'm not actually mistaken about how Sealed works vs NPCs. -
Don't either of you dare steal my thunder! I have big plans... for early next year (when I'll actually have my collection up here, heh).

Aww crud, you're right. I was really excited to flip that quote back on him, too.

The Clear & Concise Real life happens, sorry I'm not sorry. (Well, excluding an apology to Bob, perhaps.) The Expanded Version Well, it's good to see that you've dropped the FoS nonsense at least. Really, why did you even bother with that in the first place? Voting had already opened. As First Officer Walters has posited, I've been quite busy with technical matters aboard the ship today. I've slaved over my jeepthe escape pods all day, prepping & installing bedliningcalibrating their life support, navigational, and other systems. Seeing as how I have paidthe U.E.N. has invested a significant chunk of changea significant chunk of change into this projectour mission and its crew, I feel obligated to see it executed properly, escape pods et al. There's a silver lining to this cloud though: I got a tan!I'll be finishing up the maintenance by tomorrow eveningwhile you all are sleeping (well, most of you, I assume) tonight, and will be able to fully devote myself to these investigations in the morning. That out of the way, let me apologize for being so middle-of-the-road, as per your first (and unquoted) suspicion of me. You're quite right. It would have been far more appropriate for me, at the time, to make an accusation based on hair style, or based entirely upon metagamey, unsubstantiated evidence. I mean, that was par for the course earlier, so I should have definitely followed suit. Or, at least, I should have poked my head back in and echoed a few of the arguments/accusations that others were making at that time, because then I would at least be an active sheep! Ah, so you do know what this 'real life' thing is. Good, good. Safe to assume, then, that you're also aware that this 'real life' is very unique to each person experiencing it and it has a significant effect on how much, as well as when, they are able to direct their attention to these investigations! Glad we're on the same page, saves me a lot of trouble. There's still plenty of artificial daylight left, though! Also, see above. So, yes, I've explained now, so you can unvote me

I will surely never make that mistake again.

You really think that our hair is a good last-ditch criterion for a lynch? Surely, you must have suggested that in jest.

Allison Williams, reporting in. -
I don't condone attacking the host, though I can understand why he did it. The raging and team-outing, though, it really didn't shock me. Okay, maybe from Flipz it did, but then again, maybe even that shouldn't have surprised me. Look at Jedi Temple. There was a 'ragequit' there, and names were outed (can't remember how many were true or not, at the moment), but play continued. It was actually even enough to raise significant suspicion against Doc early on. In attacking Bob's hosting methods, I believe that Flipz was trying to establish a case against some of his own, for their own protection. I'm inclined to think that he was trying to establish an utterly ridiculous case, one that would hold no water at all, so it would seem as though he was just trying to take some town down with him. It should have been done without attacking the host. The gambit should have been made strictly within the game & the players thereof. But I don't think it was done out of pure malice, and I definitely don't think he intended to upset the entire game with it.

While I can understand your frustration with the Fleet Admiral, I've seen far too many of these slam-the-door-on-your-way-out rants, and only rarely have they proven true. Of course, this could just be a tricky WIFOM ruse, but that will be uncovered in due time. For now, Vote: Lieutenant Zachary Jones (Flipz)

Sorry for an all-OoC post, but didn't want to risk it getting missed in C&D and thus delaying any more than needed. Anyway, Knifk is currently petrified with 1 hp. If he takes a free hit, will his counter strike activate despite being both petrified and freshly knocked out? I'd assume not, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. -
Okay, down to it. I was personally requested to head up the security detail on this ship, so it's no secret that I haven't been around as long as some of you, and haven't seen much action aboard the vessel. That said, I've got no problem standing up to a more seasoned officer if I've got a problem with their personal conduct. Lieutenant Francis, while I respect your seniority, and stand by the notion of not voting in haste, I simply cannot wrap my head around the idea of discouraging any and all discussion that isn't supported by cold hard facts. If we're going to approach things that way, why don't we just skip the first few days entirely take a few days off and lounge on the holo-beach deck, then reconvene after a few nights? Then we'd have some real facts to work with, right? I'm not going to lecture you on why I find interactions between crew members, accusations, reactions, the whole lot, quite useful to our cause. I'm quite sure that you are at least aware of the reasons, even if you don't necessarily agree with them. We're left to twiddle our thumbs and wait to be killed, while anyone who can actually do something to help us has to weigh their life against their information. That's an awfully boring way to play the game handle messy situations like these.

Sheesh, you all do a lot of talking while I'm busy patrolling the corridors! Seriously... a lot of talking. It's at least reassuring to see some of my own suspicions being addressed here today, if for no reason other than to allay some of those suspicions. Jones and Walters are at each others' throats, but the more they go at it, the less I find myself convinced that either of them are traitors. Lt. Daly's speculation about the numbers/teams early yesterday morning made me raise an eyebrow, but I backburnered the thought. I don't think he's quite cracked under pressure today, but he sure hasn't dug himself out of any holes, either. I read "conclusive proof" as "convincing cases", because, as you mentioned, we really don't have any publicly available proof yet.

Order: Knifk Thormanil (1) Ad-hoh *Spirit Thormanil (2) Elgar Arasmyth Actions: Thormanil - Attack Mage, front row (1&2) Knifk - Attack Lead Interrogator, front row Arasmyth - Spell(Wind) vs Zealot, back row OoC #1: Battle stuff. As always, speak up if you've got a concern/suggestion. Unless Knifk takes damage from the Lead, he should survive another spar with the Interrogator, then he'll lose just a few hp to the mark, *then* I'll heal him. Arasmyth's risking it against the Zealot again. I'm hoping to get rid of the mage this turn, then I can focus on healing *next* turn. Sheesh, I really hope we get a chance to go shopping somewhere in this city /whistle OoC #2: @Kadabra & Bionic. Didn't know you two were brothers. Cool! Losing your internet, less cool! AOL though? Serves you right That's a drag, though. I don't know where I'd be without reliable internet (wait, yes I do--my parents' house a few miles outside town, haha). Best of luck getting that restored in short order, I look forward to any and all check-ins you're able to make in the interim. I can't speak for the other two, or(/especially for) Jeb, but I won't particularly mind if we slow down a bit while waiting for you two to get back online. Those orc captives sure aren't goin' anywhere, haha. -
Well our good First Officer was eager to remind us, yesterday, that he had headed the charge against the late Ensign, which at the time rang plenty of bells for me, despite his later explanation. Now, I don't mean to say I trust the man, but that'd be a mighty risky gamble to take responsibility for the death of a Loyalist if he is, in fact, a Purist.

"Oh-ho, I forgot all about Knifk's quick reflexes and his ability to land a counterstrike. Given thsy I'll be healing Arasmyth next round anyway, might as well let Knifk eat the hit anyway Hope he doesn't cower behind his shield again, aha!" OoC: Typing from mobile right now, sorry for lack of formatting, etc. It's a hassle to pull it up right now, but follow JMB/Elgar's suggested order and targets from the previous page, with the interrogator getting a free hit. Damage is easier to heal than some of those status effect, anyway, heh -
