Unable to take another step forward, Thormanil steps to the back row and heals Ad-hoh. -

Dancing around in pain, Thorm curses Ranger, "Aghh! That's just plain fightin' dirty! You knew I was fightin' barefoot, you rat. Now my feet're all bloody and I'll get those fancy boots of Rogue's all dirty!" Stepping very lightly, he prepares to attack Ranger again from the front. -

"Sorry, pup." Thormanil turns to face the Ranger, and steps to the front to attack twice, with the same considerations as before. -
Oh, it definitely wouldn't. It's not a battle strategy, it's a gold strategy.
-
Felt it bears repeating. I support Jeb's choice on the matter.

Well, Arasmyth's not KO'ed, he's playing dead. Character knowledge dictates that Thorm might try to heal him, not knowing that Aras is actually dying and beyond saving. Afterall, the rest of the party got up, why didn't Aras? Plus, I think that it's a neat, if annoying, handicap for this fight. Thorm will have to dedicate a turn to healing, since his ritual will just default to Aras.

Repeat the actions unless I take damage (then heal on #2), or if someone else gets marked (then do one attack and one heal). Move me to the back of the battle order, please. -
Maybe I'm missing something, but where is the free hit coming from on the Shard? Is it just because he's hastened?

Just one? I must have dug that hole pretty deep by now, then. Thormanil attacks Hound twice from the front row with his Tailblade. -

Gah, not even a day old and this kid's already gotten on my bad side! Very big congratulations, take your time with updating! -
I could have sworn we were able to pre-buff, but couldn't immediately find any examples to suggest that we could. I listed it just in case we could, but didn't comment on it in my OoC because, again, couldn't find an example and figured Jeb knew what he was doing

Gah, of course, the one time you roleplay.

Bah, starting without Ad-hoh agreeing? Quit railroading us! Was kind of hoping he'd pop in and up his ether before we got underway. My Tailblade shouldn't be poisoned, though if you'd like to leave it as such I certainly won't complain! And just for the sake of making pronouns and pictures match, Thormanil took off his mask, so you could use this picture instead, if you'd like. Oh, and I should only have 1x Jinxy Juice, and no Turkey Leg. "Ain't no turnin' back now, let's do it for Aras. And for glory. And for boots!" Thormanil uses a Smelling Salts & Mead, unless one of the party gets marked for death, then the Mead can wait a turn while Thorm heals that player. -
But it'd be so easy to explain away his affinity for high defenses, Doc! Since there's not much he can do to prevent an attack from his blind side, he's taken preemptive measures. He uses a bow and stands in the back of the group, that way he can have more time to react to an incoming attack. He keeps his shield at the ready and wears heavier armor so that if someone does get through the ranks and lands a cheap shot from his left side, it'll have a slim chance of being lethal. Oh, and the eyepatch is actually a one-way lens, because, surprise, Docken isn't blind in one eye! It's a battle tactic he devised so that attackers would overconfidently attack his left side, despite that being the side where he is most heavily guarded. See? Docken is (could be) a really crafty character!

He's really just a big ol' pushover!

If everyone decides that it's too complicated, then I'd gladly settle for a flat "Permanently Encouraged" bonus instead (C'mon Jeb, lemme at those booties!). Definitely meant to say booties. Talk like a pirate day was yesterday! Silly brain.
-
It only specifies damage, not power, and then melee attacks as well. So unless I was smacking a partner over the head with a healing rod (which I think definitely counts as a melee attack ), it wouldn't affect healing. And since Encouraged doubles power, not actual damage, it wouldn't be affected either. Ninja'ed by Pie.

@Scuba, Again, I'm assuimg that it will just be that flat ten damage after modifiers. So for a basic barbarian great crit, it might be Total Damage=(Level+3*WP)+10. I'm not sure how it would work on elemental attacks, +20 makes sense, but that's really strong. A flat +10 nonelemental seems reasonable (relatively speaking), which would limit it's usefulness against Undead (hey, a weakness is still a weakness!). It wouldn't have any affect on my healing whenever Thorm's strutting around as a Shaman, either. Maybe it should only be active when attacking from the front row? Bah, theorizing over an item I might not even get (and that, if I did get in it's current state, I would fully expect Sandy to step in and say "Nuh-uh, hold on there cowboy" to) Edit 1: Shh, don't remind Jeb about Rogue's giant wallet until after he's got the enemy stats locked in! Edit 2: As an extension of the Shaman thing, I actually doubt it would affect the shield roll, as that's a ritual casting rather than a melee hit. Yet another weakness! I might just poke enough holes in these things to keep 'em as is! Heh

Logic be damned. I (will hopefully)... have... the powerrrr! *holds boots towards the sky*
-
Eh, I'm acting under the assumption that the +10 damage would be applied after any modifiers. A flat +10 power would be, strictly speaking, utterly ridiculous at this stage of the game.

Should just call it "Lens of Rapid-Tonic-Consumption"

Heroica RPG - Quest#35: Rescue the Maa’ri!
swils replied to Jebediahs's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Urrrgghhhh." Thormana sets Arasmyth's body down against a wall, sighs heavily, takes off the mask, and signals for the party to gather around. In a hushed voice, he says, "Alright, listen. Elgar, I dunno what yer hopin' to accomplish, takin' the girl. Even if we ditch the Maa'ri, what're we gonna do with her? Take her to her father and hope that he thanks us for slaughterin' a buncha his troops, not to mention the Archivist, as a favor to the 'heathen orcs', and only then turnin' on them to save his daughter? Good luck with that. Maybe he'll just make your death quick instead of draggin' it out. Though I really can't see him bein' all too kind to such a stubborn follower of Ennoc. Now, I've been duped into startin' a war and tradin' a kid's life for his freedom. And now these orcs, who hired us to help save their brethren and prattled on about how these Akkaban folk are all about vengeance, well, they've gone and used us so that they could, what, kill a kid? Hell of an act of revenge, right there. I don't think anyone back at the Hall would fault us for dropping the Maa'ri. Heck, I don't think anyone back at the Hall would even know. These're the last few of the Maa'ri right here, or so they say. Then again, 'Never trust a green-skin', sorry Knifk. I even accidentally killed a kid for these liars. I wouldn't have minded all this if they'd told us up front--I love a good bloodbath. Course, I mighta tried to convince them to do somethin' other than kill the girl. But after all the trouble we've been through, all we've given up, heck, the friend we lost, this scumbag orc won't even give me his shoes? Now that's just downright rude. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I vote we finish this. Save your potions, Elgar. Make sure the girl can't get away. I ain't for you Elgar. I ain't doin' it for the Hall's reputation, nor for the girl or any morality concerns. I want those damned boots." With his back turned to the Maa'ri, Thormanil soaks the now-cold Turkey Leg with Jinxy Juice and then tosses it over towards Hound. He fishes through Arasmyth's pack, taking the Tonic and Grand Tonic. He gets strange, disapproving looks from the party. "What? I'll worry about leaving a tribute when we're done dealin' with the Maa'ri. Ad-hoh, I'd recommend you take, or at the very least, borrow Aras' scrolls for this." Assuming the party agrees to fight, He drinks the Grand Tonic and heals Ad-hoh, Elgar, and Knifk. Anticipating the orcs to fight even harder this time, fueled by adrenaline and desperation, he also downs a Mead and Smelling Salts.
