Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
drewdotexe replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am sure that I read it is for Sirius Black in a non-canon look? I might have my wires crossed. And it doesn't fit the Office at all, most of the characters will likely be in office or warehouse gear. The staircase is brilliant, glad I waited on buying sets. I have all the choice of everything that has released so far this year as well as the Flying Lesson from last year, feeling hopeful that I can fill up a basket of in stock sets. -

Ah fingers crossed. Would be good if half of the 20 minifigs are new. -

What I think may be repeats/reuse existing pieces: Year 6 Casual Harry Year 6 Luna (probably a variation of the CMF, like what they did with Kingsley) Year 1 Trio Year 3 Trio Remus Lupin Dementor Trolley Witch Random students Leaving these as figs with new torsos etc: Draco Malfoy (HBP) Conductor Harry, Ginny, James, Albus and Lily -

Probably a pass for me. Too expensive so this would have to be something really amazing to justify the spend. Expecting a couple of these minifigures to be repeats as well by the sounds of it. And I hate the epilogue, haven't read it again since the book released, so that side of things, although a lovely touch, means nothing to me. Need to see pictures now before passing any further judgment -

I think the Tonks could also be from the Department of Mysteries battle in Order of the Phoenix. -

Saw Secrets of Dumbledore and have to agree with some people, really didn't enjoy this one. Will leave my indepth commentary to myself as it will contain spoilers and the list of problems is a mile long lol, not to mention off topic. I will echo that I'm not sure how they'd make any LEGO set out of this film, unless they made a small diorama in the vein of the Thestral set coming out. This could easily depict a Dumbledore vs Grindelwald scene, the two characters sorely missing minifigs now (Grindelwald as played by Mikkelsen, that is). One thing I did like about this film was how magnetic and subtly manipulative Grindelwald was. -

Super chuffed with this wave. 12 Grimmauld Place, Shrieking Shack and Ministry of Magic are all on the wishlist. Minor nitpicks for all but they look brill. Can't wait to get my hands on these. Not too fussed about the sets for Dumbledore's Office and Courtyard Rescue (I am bored bored bored of the Hogwarts sets) but will be 100% picking up the unique minifigs and sticker sheets/printed parts etc if the sets don't come down in price. Will skip Hungarian Horntail but pick up Harry and the broom on BrickLink. Carriage is cute, definite buy when it inevitably goes to half price. The minifigures are fab, no matter what LEGO do with the sets themselves, they clearly have a wide knowledge of characters and passion for the theme. I think at this point it's safe to say any character, no matter how minor, stands at least a chance/has been considered by the team at some point. (I.e. I imagine they have plans for characters like Bill Weasley and Rita Skeeter and are just biding their time). Madam Pince is the highlight, but the Ministry set has delivered amazingly, as has 12 Grimmauld Place. My OoTP Kitbashed Sirius has been officially knocked out of the water!! And that Tonks is fabulous. -

Can someone remind me when the next wave of sets are due to release? Haven't been able to keep up! I also broke and picked up a lot of the 2010-11 minifigs. Narcissa, OoTP Ginny and DH Neville are all highlights. Even picked up Bellatrix's skirt piece (cheaper than the full minifig on bricklink) and use that on my Burrow Bellatrix, with another copy of the CMF head. -

Would be cool to make it the focus of a whole years playsets to be honest. You could also have the Bridge and the Forbidden Forest. -

I am a bit skeptical too. Although we got a completely random accessory pack last year, so I think anyones ideas are a possibility at this point. I do agree if we got it it would be Snape and/or McGonagall with some rather generic looking witches and wizards alongside. Agreed - Pince ideally needs her signature hat and perhaps the bird nest/fur collar piece recoloured in black. You could probably then get away with a black skirt piece and a pre-existing black torso from another minifigure. Interestingly, I always thought the Home Alone minifigure would make a great basis for a Mundungus kitbash. -

Ooh good question. In no particular order: 1. Diagon Alley - Bought this after moving home and finally having money to spend on LEGO! I've built MOCs off this too that I've really enjoyed doing. Rationally was it worth £370? I could probably do that with money now But it was so much fun to build over the course of two weeks especially in the build up to Christmas, good memories. 2. Attack on The Burrow - Love this set, only wish it was larger/more expensive to give the set a bit of breathing space. Loved the little Weasley stickers and it's the piece I'm most likely to have on display. 3. Hagrids Hut - Again another set that's really easy to display, perfect for a bookshelf. I even built onto the back of it but it ruined the structural integrity of the build lol. Really cute build. 4. 2019 AC - Harry and Ron's sweaters, this was also the year I properly got into LEGO Harry Potter so the charm was at 100% when this released. I also didn't have any of the other minifigs in the set so everything felt brand new! 5. The Rise of Voldemort - For the price I thought this set was really something special and different for the theme. Like this for what it said about the theme going forward, back in 2019. 6. Hogwarts Castle - So this is a sight to behold when it's built up. My *only* complaint is more wish fulfilment... as obsessed with the Hogwarts blueprint as I am, I really wish it came with the Clock Tower/Quad/Bell Towers/Astronomy Tower. (And they say they couldn't justify another set ) 7. Hogwarts Express - Just a really fun build that was an afternoon well spent. Also looks good on display which is a big deal for me. 8. Hogwarts Great Hall - So this was the first *big set* I got in the theme (I got the Quidditch set for Christmas the year before but didn't know the theme was so big, then my family got addicted to the CMF... so I got their hand me down figures. It then got serious when I saw the Bricktober pack in October 2019 and it *rapidly* snowballed from there). Loved building this at the time. I sort of view the old-Hogwarts style as one big set in my mind so I appreciate them all really. 9. Chamber of Secrets - Don't get me wrong I hate the modular style of this new Hogwarts wave. But absolutely love the details, Lockhart's office alone is fantastic. 10. Hogsmeade - Finally! Just wish Three Broomsticks was twice as wide and slightly taller. -

I also find that by the time you've decided what minifigures/prints/stickers you want from a set, it's sometimes like £10 dearer to just get the set, which is more convenient than slogging through BrickLink and being at mercy of the postman! This is the dilemma I face with the Hospital Wing set. Want all the minifigs plus the Skele-Gro and the stickers. Same with the Moments books. May as well just cough up the money! -

Big use to me thank you for the short and sweet review. Reaffirmed that Clock Tower and the Trunk will be a case of BrickLinking the minifigs and parts I want to save a few quid. I will probably pick up the books come sale season, just because they are a bit cheaper anyway and come with good stickers. -

Yeah this would work for me too. These are also the only shops left that I haven't been 100% satisfied with the MOCs You could really make the whole set HBP/DH themed with a hint of PoA, sort of how the original Diagon Alley set was primarily CoS, but then had the Weasleys shop thrown in. Minifigures could include: Harry, Griphook, Bogrod, Hermione/Bellatrix, Ron/Disguise for Gringotts with a dragon build perhaps. Narcissa, Draco and Mr. Borgin. Then have some fun builds in that shop like the hand, the cabinet etc. And the Leaky Cauldron could include Tom (either version), housekeeping and a few Sirius posters or something. A little Mundungus stand like you said, perhaps a Dolores Umbridge and/or Kreacher minifigure. To me at least, Diagon Alley is the most interesting thing left to do (not including Deathly Hallows being introduced to the theme, that's a whole kettle of fish and I'd gladly welcome some Battle of Hogwarts sets if it meant DH minifigures), I'm really bored of the various Hogwarts builds, maybe it's the sheer abundance of tan bricks. -

Thank you :) Yes, got all of my LEGO Harry Potter into three boxes which was crazy! (Apart from DA which is still built up and may just be packed away in boxes that they'll fit in without taking them apart...) Yeah true, a few of them shared a torso though right? Granted the torso was new and great for customising, so I'm not too fussed. Just hope the AC is a tiny bit better than 2021s. (Personally my fav is the one with Harry and Ron's christmas jumpers, even though I believe that AC repeated Dumbledore and McGonagall I think? The Harry and Ron were just so perfect for a Christmas set which is what I want from an AC - hence why I think Hogsmeade would make such a great set for it) Yeah to be honest the more I think about the D2C I can't say for sure what it is, I just get the feeling it's not going to be in the scale of the regular sets if that makes sense, I do think whatever it is will lean toward display piece (Hogwarts Castle/Icons) or something motorized. I can't help but feel that Gringotts might be saved for next year if they're trying to stretch this theme out. I hope you're right about the Sirius set just for the increased odds of Fang and Norberta to be honest. I think the prisoner Sirius we got was pretty good, to be pedantic the hair was a bit off but I don't mind the variety in hairpieces. So I'm kind of not putting too much thought or expectation into this set in particular, I'm sure it will meet my expectations but not expecting to be blown away by it? Still no official OoTP Sirius and Tonks on the cards :( , to be fair I'm very happy with my customs of these two anyway. -

Wow, a lot of conversation to be had, seems that most people are seeing a good reception to the sets. I'll leave a few thoughts, although I'm not trying to guess too much until we get images etc.. alas I'm trying to keep my hopes low, with a more restricted budget in my life now I need to be more selective with what I buy. However any selection of good design/minifigures/stickers/unique pieces could sway me! 76400 - Hogwarts Carriage with Thestrals Got to say for a budget set this could be promising, it's only a small package too. If we get a new torso for Luna I'll be picking this up as it's so cheap. 76401 - Hogwarts: Sirius' Rescue I'm glad we're not leaning in too hard to the modular system this year. I'm not a fan of the modular style, it's too neat and 'boxy' for my liking, so I'm being a bit stricter on myself buying these sets going forward. This might be a get for me, not sure yet will have to see the build for unique pieces. I'm assuming that Ginny will be in the set for some Gryffindor robe representation as well. 76402 - Dumbledore's Office OK so I have actually acquired a lot of the 2002 sets through moving in with my OH (who I did not know had all these sets?!? Baffling but also very exciting) so I will have the original to compare to! I wonder if they are going to differentiate any of the minifigure builds in this one. 76403 - Ministry of Magic Now this is where it gets interesting for me. Not sure what film this is based off, or if it's a Diagon Alley situation where we're taking 'moments' from the films to form a cohesive set. 76404 - LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar This could be anything. For the price increase I'm hoping for six completely new minifigs but that's unlikely to happen mwahaha. 76405 - D2C Set No idea. Krimimimi has shown that a DA expansion is possible (let's remember that the first set had Scribbulus of all shops included, only the diehard fan would recognise the name alone), kinda hoping it is, at the same time though I built 3 out of 4 of ScarletPatronus' MOCs for DA (can't afford the next one, however I have the stickers and instructions so it's just down to me to get the bricks), and it's such a beautiful MOC that I kinda want LEGO to stick to Gringotts and the Leaky Cauldron lol. (Would also retrofit some of last years AC, result). Won't get my hopes up too high. Fully expecting another Hogwarts Icons moment to be honest. Could almost see a Horcruxes display (Diary, Ring, Locket, Cup, Diadem and Snake), motorised Hogwarts Express, that kind of thing. 75946 - Hungarian Horntail Not massively excited for this, the brick built Fawkes and Hedwig are repetitive to build and I can never get the wings right lol. Probably an easy pass for me at this point. 76407 - Shrieking Shack This... is probably a must buy. Oh I hope we get a werewolf Lupin, but in the style where his head is just on his suit lol, it's so silly and ridiculous. I made a custom Lupin this way using the Vidiyo Wolf head so if they want to do something accurate, that's fine too, although I hate the film werewolf design. I feel that due to the number of parts this might just be the Shack and nothing else. Harry, Ron and Hermione are probably going to be old figures, Sirius may be reused here and in the Dark Tower, so pls pls pls give us a good Lupin, a dog and a new Pettigrew. 76408 - ??? Price sounds like brick built Ron +1, pass if so. Overall I'm really happy with the selection of sets this year! -

For the HBP, less upbeat Tonks, I have used Qi'ras hairpiece (Molly Weasleys in brown). It fits nicely! -

Hopefully this is just because Potions + Transfiguration will be out for 2 years then, and perhaps they just don't forecast DADA and Divination being popular enough for longer than a year. I kinda wish they did a couple of extra DADA books (Lupin at least, Lockhart has had a bit of coverage with the CoS set this year) though, but I understand why they wouldn't want several DADA books clogging up the market. -

Sorry, I meant that people will be disappointed if nothing leaks, and if something leaks, some people will still be disappointed. Personally I wasnt blown away by last years waves, so I set my expectations accordingly :) Hogsmeade and the Chamber were highlights particularly Lockharts section. This year, just some interesting new minifigs will be enough for me as I am running out of storage space anyway. -

Yes either leaks will come and we'll have some disappointed (inevitable) or nothing will leak and we'll probably all be disappointed lol. I'm not making a wishlist, I'm just hoping for a creative range of sets and, what I really want, is a handful of new minifigure designs. Please don't let me down LEGO. -

Then I stake my bets on never lol, unless SoD is an overwhelming success and they decide to do something next year. I mean they did just release Avengers Endgame sets last year, which I know is not the same. Personally I wish they would do something to celebrate SoD, as I like the general setup of the prequels just thought CoG was a weak film that lost its way a bit. But loved the potential and I'm generally optimistic they'll get the story back on track having had so long to do so. Still vaguely holding out hope for Nagini and Young Dumbledore minifigs one day. Also slightly off topic but my two pence on Cursed Child; it's not canon if you simply refuse to acknowledge its existence But seriously, even if it is canon, it's retrospective because the books and films were done before it released, so it doesn't have any impact on the original story whatsoever. -

May be a bit pessimistic but I feel that the sensible thing to do would be to wait and see what SoD's reception is like and react accordingly. Think the majority of people will be waiting for this movie with bated breath and a dash of hopeful optimism (I certainly am). -

Yeah I dont know why I said that either regarding minifigs think I was thinking of a different set. Not with it this week! They could perhaps do a Hogsmeade set focused around OoTP as well with the Dumbledores Army meeting. An AC with Luna and Neville in would probably sell a few extra units too. Think between us we could create a couple of Hogsmeade AC sets. There is hope yet!!! Personally I'm just disassembling all my harry potter sets for moving house, so interesting seeing the little details you don't take notice of when the sets are up. For instance forgot about the sticker of the Weasleys in Egypt that comes with the Burrow. So cute!! Whatever comes of the wave this year I hope we continue to get such lovely finishing touches. -

I would base it around the scene where Harry chucks snowballs at Draco and his cronies. That gives you six days of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Crabbe and other-guy-who-isn't-Goyle-for-some-reason. Not sure how they'd work around the gang wearing winter coats etc that we don't have minifigs for (ACs tend to reuse minifigs for the most part), they could perhaps do a spin on the idea and have the group in their PoA clothes with a scarf accessory, or reuse the Hogwarts house robes with scarves. Perhaps as a compromise we could get hairpieces with winter hats attached or something similar. (Draco, Ron and Hermione all sport marvellous hats in this scene). Couple of generic Christmassy items. Trees, presents, or a printed owl post, that sort of thing. (Not every door in the AC is going to be exciting unfortunately. Each one has had a few duds imo) A Hogsmeade signpost that also points to Hogwarts. A couple of new printed Honeydukes sweets to throw into the Hogsmeade set. Bugbot's MOC also had some great inspiration and I think you'd have to go in a general Prisoner of Azkaban direction to fill in the blanks. Mini builds of the Knight Bus, the Clock Tower etc. Job done!! -

Me too, I really want OoTP Sirius and Tonks minifigs, way high up on my wishlist. My customs only go so far
